Thomas B. Boudreau
TUCSON, Ariz. — Thomas B. Boudreau, 65, of Tucson, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000.
He was born June 17, 1935, in Starks, Maine. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a former resident of Madison, Maine, where he owned and operated The TV Hospital.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Mary B. (Spencer) Boudreau, of Tucson; a daughter, Deborah Dawn Makiri, and two sons, Timothy Christian Boudreau and James Thomas Boudreau, all of Tucson; his mother, Edmay Boudreau, of Madison; and three grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, at Evergreen Cemetery, with arrangements by Evergreen Mortuary and Cemetery, 3015 North Oracle Road, Tucson.
Maj. Donald W. Curtis
PALMYRA — Retired Maj. Donald W. Curtis, 75, U.S. Army Reserve, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, at a Bangor hospital.
He was born May 2, 1925, at Bristol, New Brunswick, Canada
, son of George and Ella (Elkins) Curtis. He graduated from Aroostook Central Institute, attended aircraft school at Quoddy Head and was an Officer Candidate School graduate. A World War II veteran, Don also served in the European Theatre as part of the U.S. Army of Occupation. He served 20 years of active duty overseas in Germany, Newfoundland, and Iran, and later stateside, retiring in 1963 from the Bangor Army Reserve Center.
After retiring from the military, he worked as a quality-control inspector for Edwards Corp. in Pittsfield and later as a self-employed upholsterer at Old Tavern Upholstery.
His interests included gardening, photography, the outdoors, carpentry, reading, traveling and being with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ida Joyce (Green) Curtis, of Palmyra; children, Carl G. and his wife, Sheila (Howland) Curtis, of Hudson, N.H., and their children, Bryan, Russell and Carla Curtis; Patricia L. and her husband, Gary Jordan, of Richmond, and their children, Heather and Chris Jordan; Gary W. Curtis and his companion, Susan McMillan, of Newport, and Gary's son, Christopher Curtis, and Chris's daughter; Richard L. and his wife, Celeste (Violette) Curtis, and their children, Terra, Garrett and Avery Curtis; Donna and her husband, Dale Holden, of Madison, and their children, Nathan Cardozo, Cassidy and Haley Holden; siblings, Audrey Knowles, of Bucksport, Albert and Janice Curtis, of Waldo, George Curtis and Robert Curtis, of New Haven, Conn.; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Ina Curtis.
Family visitation will be private. A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, at Palmyra Village Cemetery, with the Rev. Mark Tanner officiating.
Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home of Newport.

Kenneth A. Foster
WATERVILLE — Kenneth A. Foster, 83, of Sidney, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000, at a Waterville hospital.
He was born March 12, 1917, in Albion, son of the late Veaise Foster and Dora Tibbetts, and graduated from Besse High School in Albion.
Kenneth was employed for 32 years as a blacksmith for the Maine Central Railroad.
He married Theresa O. Cahill on May 15, 1976.
He was a member of the Siloam Lodge 92, Ancient, Free & Accepted Masons, of Fairfield, Taconnet Chapter 52 in Waterville, Mount Lebanon Council 13 of Oakland, Kora Temple Shrine in Lewiston, Order of the Eastern Star in Fairfield, and International Brotherhood of Blacksmiths and Boilermakers.
Kenneth loved to fish.
He was predeceased by Mayland Merrow, and two sisters, Mildred Belyea and Annie Dow.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Theresa O. Foster, of Sidney; three brothers-in-law, Raymond Cahill, and his wife, Gloria, of Madison, Jerry Cahill, of Skowhegan, and James Cahill; three sisters-in-law, Corrine Dunton, and her husband, Rick, of Skowhegan, Margaret Goodrich, and her husband, Elton, of Clinton, and Gloria Jones, and her husband, Herb, of Auburn; two nieces, Nancy H. Dow, of Benton, and Jean M. Dow, of Waterville; four great-nieces, a great-nephew, many great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
There will be no visiting hours.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield. Burial will follow at No. 4 Cemetery
in Albion.
Arthur R. Johnson
MERCER — Arthur R. Johnson, 78, of Mercer, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, at Thayer Unit, MaineGeneral Medical Center, Waterville.
He was born June 18, 1922, in Mercer, son of Frank and Ida A. (Peterson) Johnson. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of Norridgewock Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7866. He was a loving husband, who loved his family and friends on Corson Road in Mercer.
Survivors include his wife, Viola (Barnett), of Mercer; a stepdaughter, Cheryl Bouchard, of Florida; a stepson, William Gibbs, of Massachusetts; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Goddard, of Florida; and five nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, at East Mercer Cemetery
in Mercer, with the Rev. Kathleen Dunford officiating.
Arrangements are by Smart & Edwards Funeral Home of Skowhegan.

Kevin A. Stetson
WINSLOW — Kevin A. Stetson, 44, of Winslow, a certified executive chef with the American Academy of Chefs, died unexpectedly Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, at Thayer Unit, MaineGeneral Medical Center, Waterville.
He was born Feb. 24, 1956, in Dexter, son of Milton and Janice (Gibbs) Stetson. He graduated in 1974 from Winslow High School and, with encouragement from his grandmother, Muriel Gibbs, went on to attend the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y., graduating in 1976.
Chef Stetson met his wife of 24 years, Brenda (Pelotte) Stetson, and they were married Sept. 11, 1976. She became his best friend. He was a loving husband and father and a great chef.
Chef Stetson was an active member of the Maine Restaurant Association and was a 17-year member of the Maine chapter of the American Culinary Federation, serving in the past as president and a three-year term as treasurer.
He was awarded the chapter's first-ever Director's Award in 1995 and later received the chapter's "President's Award" in 1998.
A career highlight came in 1998 when he was inducted into the prestigious American Academy of Chefs, the chefs' honor society of the American Culinary Federation. He served as the Augusta, Maine-based North Center Foodservice Corp.'s executive chef since 1995.
Chef Stetson's 30-year food-service career was filled with citations and honors, not only for his renowned cooking skills, but also for building student education/ nutrition advisory boards and creating his beloved ice carvings for special events.
He was predeceased by his father, Milton Stetson, in 1988.
Survivors include his loving wife of 24 years, Brenda (Pelotte) Stetson, of Winslow; a son, Kyle Stetson, and two daughters, Sara and Lauren; his mother, Janice (Gibbs) Stetson, of Winslow; brothers and sisters, Dorothy (Stetson) Gonyea and Donna (Stetson) Leach, both of Portland, Craig Stetson, of Winslow, Marsha (Stetson) Higgins, of Bangor, and Bruce Stetson, of Waterville; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bernard and Rose Pelotte; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and a special aunt and uncle, Ken and Sue Gibbs.
He leaves behind numerous friends and associates, both inside and outside the culinary industries. His humor, gentleness, generosity and creative touch will be missed from his gardens, his woodworking shop, his kitchen and our hearts.
Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Monument Street, Winslow, with the Rev. Paul Plante officiating.
Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Grove Street, Waterville.

Jerilyn L. Tibbetts Towers
NEWPORT — Jerilyn L. Tibbetts Towers, 34, of Newport, died Oct. 17, 1982, in Newport. Her remains were found Oct. 12, 2000, in Etna.
She was born Dec. 2, 1947, daughter of Raymond and June (Fuller) Tibbetts.
She enjoyed doing puzzles and listening to country music, especially the song, "Oh No!," with Lorretta Lynn and Conway Twitty.
Jerilyn was taken from her family early in her life, missing watching her children grow up and experiencing the joy of having grandchildren.
Her grandchildren will never know the love she would have shown them, had her life not been taken. Her entire family has missed her over the past 18 years — and it is a relief to have her back with us, so she can be laid to rest.
Her father, Raymond; mother, June; sisters, Jill Anne Tibbetts and Margaret Lovejoy, predeceased her.
Survivors include three sons, Raymond, and his wife, Lisa, Meunier, of Madison, Christopher Pullen, and his fiancee, Bethany Turcotte, of Mechanic Falls, and Thomas Meunier, and his girlfriend, Joy Withee, of Skowhegan; a daughter, Tammy, and her husband, James Price, of Fairfield; four brothers, Merlyn, and his wife, Betty, Tibbetts, of Anson, David, and his wife, Mary Jane, Tibbetts, of Maryland, Vance, and his wife, Ida, Tibbetts, of Norridgewock, and Jon Tibbetts and his financee, Ree Matthew, of Houlton; two sisters, Jean, and her husband, Carlton Worthley, of Norridgewock, Jan and her husband, David Ellis, of Athens; eight grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
A public graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at Old Rome Cemetery
in Rome, with pastor Victor Angulo officiating.
Arrangements are by Lawry Brothers Funeral Home of Fairfield.
James H. Young
PALMYRA — James H. Young, 68, of Palmyra, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at a veterans' hospital in Milwaukee, Wis.
He was born May 25, 1932, in Bar Harbor, son of the late Sherely and Ruth (Moon) Young, and graduated in 1951 from Ellsworth High School.
Survivors include two sisters, Jackie Albers and her husband, Al, of Hillsborough, N.H.; and Shirley Craig, of Orono; a brother, Albert Young, and his wife, Marie, of Hillsborough; his wife, Exerene Young, of Palmyra; two sons, Kirk Young, and his wife, Heather, of Racine, Wis., and Eric Young, with Kelly Cram, of Canaan; a daughter, Juanita Spaulding, and her husband, Everett, of Pittsfield; two grandchildren, Christopher Spaulding and Conner Young; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Harold Young, and Lawrence Young, both of Houston, Texas; and a grandson, Cameron Young, of Racine.
He was a Korean War-veteran life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, charter member of Elks Lodge 2713 in Pittsfield, past district deputy and grand knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 4861 in Pittsfield, past faithful navigator of the Bernard Poulin Assembly, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, and was an eucharistic minister at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Pittsfield.
He received the "Good Samaritan" Knight of the Year Award from the Maine State Fourth Degree Council, Knights of Columbus.
As owner of Ell Hill Grocery Store in Palmyra, Jim made many friends with his humor and personality. He was also well known as Santa Claus at Christmastime to the many patients in local nursing homes, as well as all the inpatients at the Togus Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
He spent many summers camping at the Sandy Beach Campground in Madison, where his stories and jokes entertained many friends around campfires, square-dance weekends and gatherings.
Jim was an outspoken and boisterous advocate for veterans' rights, often berating and monitoring both state and federal politicians.
He is already sorely missed by his family and friends.

Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, at D.H. Shorey Funeral Chapel, Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Pittsfield, with the Rev. James Martel presiding.
