HOWLAND - Alyre Aldo Thibodeau, 83, husband of Merle (Littlefield) Thibodeau, died Feb. 10, 2004, at a Lincoln healthcare facility. He was born July 7, 1920, in Seigas, New Brunswick, Canada
, the son of George and Marie Thibodeau. Alyre was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a fourth degree Knight. He loved
hunting
and fishing. In addition to his wife, Merle, he is survived by two sons, Ronald Thibodeau and his wife Joyce, of West Enfield and Robert Thibodeau of Patten; one daughter, Claudette Dube and her husband, Theo, of Florida; five stepsons, Michael Heath and his wife, Ruth, of Brownville, Joel Heath and his wife, Sue, of Houlton, Kevin Heath and his friend, Ellen, of West Enfield, Eddie Heath and his wife, Sheila, of Monticello and Jeff Heath of South Carolina; three brothers, Aurelle Thibodeau of Milford, Conday Thibodeau and Alban Thibodeau, both of Caribou; three sisters, Lorette Violette of St. Leonard, N.B., Edberge Coco and Adelaide Gagnon, both of New Hampshire; 29 grandchildren; 23 great-grand-children; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Clauda; a son, Raymond; a daughter, Raymonde; a sister, Cecile Dube; a brother, Robert Thibodeau; and a grandson, Ronald Thibodeau Jr. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. A memorial Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Howland, with the Rev. Andre Houle officiating. Spring interment will be in West Enfield cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory, to the American Lung Association. Donations may be left at the funeral home.
WELLINGTON 'BILL' RANKS
BREWER - Wellington "Bill" Orr Ranks, 77, known to many as "Sonny", passed away peacefully, Feb. 9, 2004, in Bangor, surrounded by family and friends. He was born March 20, 1926, in Bangor, the son of Willard F. and Minnie (Orr) Ranks. Sonny was a graduate of Bangor High School and Maine Central Institute, Pittsfield. He married Elizabeth Libby in 1948 and worked in upper New York superintending the building of roads and bridges. Upon returning to Maine, he acquired a master electrician license and owned his own business. All of his life, Sonny was the delight of his whole family and of a very large circle of friends through several states. He made himself available to anyone who needed his expertise for many jobs and projects. He was always spreading joy, loved to see that his family, friends and contacts were happy and enjoying life. He loved dancing and, in later years, danced three times every weekend creating fun for everyone. Sonny bicycled until very recently near his home and in Acadia National Park where he met and talked to visitors on park trails. He made and donated a map to the Park Service of all the bridges in the park. Surviving are three children, William H. Ranks of Peoria, Ariz., Shirley Finnorn of Huntsville, Ala., and Jonathan Ranks of Deltona, Fla.; three grandchildren, Steven Landry of Alabama, Joshua and Heather Pemberton of Florida; one brother, Carleton A. Ranks and his wife, Nancy, of Palm Bay, Fla.; one sister, Jacqueline R. MacDermott of Bangor; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, a great-grandniece and his closest friends for many years, Joe and Callie Eacman. Sonny was predeceased by his wife in 1994 and by two sisters, Lydia Sands and Jane Kenny. Sonny's family wishes to thank the thoughtful and caring staff of St. Joseph Hospital and Eastern Maine Medical Center. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer, where friends may visit from 5-7 p.m. and will be invited and encouraged to share happy and joyous memories.

Wendell H. Livingston
Wendell was born July 10, 1916 in Washington, DC. As an infant he moved with his parents to the Chicago area, and then to suburban Philadelphia, PA six years later, where he lived until 2003. The eldest of four siblings, Wendell belonged to Paoli Troop 1 of the Boy Scouts and became an Eagle Scout. He and his family remained active members of the Wayne Methodist Church for many decades. Wendell graduated from Radnor High School in 1933 and four years later from Wesleyan University in Connecticut. He joined the Alpha Chi Rho fraternity in college and played soccer on a team that won the 1937 Little Three Championship.
Wendell studied law at the Beasley School of Law at Temple University, receiving his degree just prior to the US entry into World War II. He served as an officer in the US Army from December 1942 until June 1946. While on active duty in the southwestern US, Wendell met Ramona Tripp, also serving as an officer in the military. They were married in uniform at Carlsbad, NM in April 1944. After Wendell's return from the Philippines in 1946, his family moved to Wayne, PA and he began his long career in the insurance industry.
In the 1980's Wendell retired from full-time employment after more than twenty years in the legal department at Keystone AAA Insurance Company in Philadelphia. He continued to work part-time at the law firm of Becket & Lee in the Great Valley, until health concerns prompted his move to Maine to be closer to his two daughters. He brought with him Tango, the last of a series of cats who had shared his home.
Wendell enjoyed sports, particularly tennis, softball and bowling. He loved going to Cape May NJ for family vacations, swimming in the ocean, playing cards, and gardening. He listened to the news on the radio and watched college basketball on TV. He enjoyed family gatherings and will be missed at the Thanksgiving dinner table by his two daughters Ann and Jane, two granddaughters Emilie and Grace, and their families. Wendell is also survived by a brother Philip R. Livingston, Sr. and his wife Betsy of Bryn Mawr, PA, his godson Reid Livingston of Kentucky and niece Amanda Curtis of Wellesley, MA and their families.
Wendell was predeceased by his wife of 49 years Ramona in 2003 and his sisters Janet and Beatrice Livingston. He donated his eyes to a research project at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, where he and his siblings had been enrolled for many years in a longitudinal study of the genetic
factors influencing the development of Macular degeneration.
The family wishes to acknowledge especially the excellent care provided to Wendell in his later years by the team of personal care assistants Sally Eastman, Andra Medina and Holly Burk. They also wish to thank Dr. Kerry Riker and the staff on the sixth floor at Saint Joseph Hospital for easing Wendell's final days.
A memorial service celebrating Wendell's life will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, November 26, 2011 in the chapel at Sunbury Village, 922 Ohio Street, Bangor with his son in law, The Rev. Levering Sherman officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests to those who wish to honor Wendell's memory in a tangible way, a charitable donation to the American Macular

Norman J. Prouty
Hampden and Veazie-Norman J. Prouty, 83, passed away October 26, 2011 at the Maine Veterans' Home in Bangor after a short illness. He was born in Veazie, November 10, 1927, the son of Norman and Minnie Prouty.
Norman attended Bangor and Brewer schools and served in the U.S. Army. The majority of his working life was spent selling automobiles, both at dealerships and at his own used car lots. He won many trips and awards as a result of his successful sales ability. Norman was also a building contractor in Veazie and built many homes there. He enjoyed Shrine activities as a member of the Foot Patrol and Go-Karts. One of his favorite pastimes was playing golf, especially in Florida where he wintered for 21 years. Foremost in his passions was his dedication and love of family. Countless hours on the River Road, Prouty Drive, Springy Pond, Beech Hill Pond and Florida were enjoyed by family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Frances Hodgins Prouty, and six beloved children Norman and his wife Wanda, of Hampden; Thomas and his wife Joan, of Westbrook; J. Randolph and his wife Pat, of Wilson, NC; Timothy and his wife Ann Marie, of Portland; Richard of Phoenix, AZ.; and daughter, Joanna Powell and her husband Jim, of Lake George, NY.; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; a sister, Madeline Oase, of South Windsor, CT.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Edgar and sister Leona Wallace. Norman, Normie, Dad, and Grampie will be missed by all.

Marilyn M. (Hunton) Ritchie
WINTERPORT - Marilyn M. (Hunton) Ritchie, 76, passed away on October 24th after a brief illness. She died peacefully, surrounded by her family. She was born October 14th, 1935, in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Merle C. and Nellie M. (Clair) Hunton.
Marilyn spent her childhood in Aroostook County and moved to the Bangor area in the 1950's, before settling in Winterport, where she spent the majority of her life. Marilyn enjoyed spending time with her family and friends as well as watching NASCAR, particularly Jimmie Johnson.
Marilyn is survived by her brother, Dana Hunton, and his wife, Mickie, of San Diego, CA; two daughters, Carla J. Ritchie, and her partner, Mike Perry, of Etna, and Linda (Ritchie) Pierce of Fort Campbell, KY; seven grandchildren, Emma (Brejwo) Balina and her husband, Roque, of Temecula, CA; Nate Brejwo and his fiancée, Meg Chute, of Bowdoin; Jodi Dodge and her partner, Kenny Lyford, of Winterport; Johnny Dodge of Jackson; Joseph Harty and his wife, Denise, of Fort Campbell, KY; Devon (Harty) Grabill and her husband, Lance, of Crawfordville, FL; and Emily Pierce of Fort Campbell, KY. She is also survived by a close cousin, Sandra Henderson, of Presque Isle, several other cousins and great-grandchildren. Marilyn is predeceased by her parents, two brothers, Roger Hunton and Doug Hunton; a daughter, Debbie Ritchie; a granddaughter, Jackie L. (Dodge) Burnett.

Gail M. Barrell
Hampden – Gail Marie Barrell, 59, passed away unexpectedly November 1, 2011 at a Bangor hospital surrounded by her loving family and friends. Gail was born in Milford, CT May 21, 1952, the daughter of the late Edgar T. and Jean A. (Wells) Barrell.
Gail grew up and was educated in Connecticut. She then proudly served her country in the U.S. Navy. Gail was a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, employed by Alpha One where she was dedicated to her career, co-workers, and particularly the consumers of their services. Gail will be remembered as a loving partner, sister, aunt, and friend.
Gail is survived by her partner, Judy M. Edgerly of Hampden; a brother Tom Barrell and wife Lori of Milford, CT; 2 sisters, Lorna Parrish of Milford, CT and Sheila Eldridge and husband Jack of Putnam, CT; 4 nephews, Tommy, Joey, Bobby, and Andy, as well as many close friends, too numerous to mention.
Gail's family thanks EMMC's CCU for their wonderful care and exceptional compassion during her illness.

Donald G. Parsons
Hampden-Donald Goodwin Parsons, 88, passed away November 15, 2011 at his home in Hampden. He was born in Dixmont, April 16, 1923, the son of William G. and Bessie (Tasker) Parsons.
Don’s family moved to Bangor, where he graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1942. In 1942 he enlisted in the Army Air Corp and served in the European Theatre until 1946, as a communications specialist. He married Joanna Mullins in 1947and they were married for forty years until her death in 1987.
Don lived in Hampden from 1947 until the time of his death. He served the community on the Hampden Board of Selectmen for 8 years and was a member of the Hampden Volunteer Fire Department for 12 years. Don retired in 1985 after 41 years as lineman with the New England Telephone Company. He and his wife were the founders and owners of Hampden Floral from 1980 until 1998.
He was a devoted loving father and grandfather and a loyal, trustworthy friend to many. His interests were farming, gardening, and family genealogy.
Surviving are his children: son, David G. and his wife Pam Parsons, daughters, Marcia Parsons; and Mary Kilbride and her husband Ernie Kilbride, grandchildren; Sarah Parsons and her fiancé, Matthew Mower, Andrew G. Parsons, Ernest Kilbride, and Patrick Kilbride. He was predeceased by his wife, Joanna, his sisters; Velma Bush and Thelma Howes.
In keeping with Don’s wishes private interment will be beside his wife in Dixmont Corner Cemetery, Dixmont. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Donald’s memory may be made to Katahdin Area Council Boy Scouts, P.O. Box 1869, Bangor, ME 04402, to establish a campership fund for a Hampden Troop #41 scout. Creighton C. Parker, Jr.
1943-2009
Winterport and Kissimmee, Florida … Creighton Chalmer Parker, Jr., 66, passed away peacefully at a Florida healthcare facility after a long respiratory illness. He was born in Arlington, MA February 16, 1943.
Creighton was a 1962 graduate of John Bapst High School. He then entered the U.S.A.F. in the K-9 Corps. Creighton worked for Bangor Fire Department for several years and after his retirement in the late 1980’s he then worked at Walt Disney World. Creighton had a great love of New England sports and always cheered for the Red Sox and the Boston Bruins.
Creighton is survived by one son Brent T. Parker and his girlfriend Sue D’Errico of Brewer and Eddington, several special friends in Florida, Tom and Susie, Jim and Judy, Connie and Cindy as well as very close friends John Harrington, and Judy Cuddy of Winterport.
In keeping with Creighton’s wishes, services will be held at Maine Veterans Cemetery

Nancy L. Leighton
1940-2009
Hampden … Nancy L. Leighton, 68, passed away at her home on March 21, 2009. Nancy was born in Bangor April 18, 1940 to the late Harry K. and Margaret H. (McCann) Foster.
Nancy married Robert Leighton in 1956 and they made their home in Hampden where they raised their five children. She considered her family to be her most precious accomplishment in life.
Surviving Nancy is her loving husband of 53 years, Robert, children and their respective spouses Kim and Jon Farley, Robert and Colleen Leighton, Barbie and Ken Beal, Lisa and Layne Alley, and Brent and Maureen Leighton, 12 grandchildren, Oriana and Evan Farley, Meaghan and Morgen Leighton, Jillian and Nick Beal, Kayla and James Alley, Brent and Kyle Leighton, Jessica Chenette and spouse Tom, and Amanda Gillespie.

John P. Bishop
1941-2008
GEORGETOWN, Mass., and CASTINE - John P. Bishop, 67, died unexpectedly Dec. 30, 2008, at his home in Georgetown, Mass. He was born Jan. 7, 1941, in Youngstown, Ohio, son of Elizabeth and Dr. Robert L. Bishop.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; and their three daughters, Amanda Bishop Becker, Jennifer Bishop Callahan and Kate Bishop Penney. He was the loving "Papo" to Ellie and Jack Becker and Molly Callahan. He is also survived by two brothers, Murry Bishop and James Bishop.
He graduated from Boardman High School and continued on to graduate from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, Class of 1964, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. John began his career in the newspaper industry as a chemist with Great Northern Paper Co., Millinocket, and eventually moved on to Bangor Publishing Co. in 1970, where he spent the remainder of his career before retiring in 2003. He spent these years in Presque Isle and Hampden before moving to Castine, where he lived most recently. John P. Bishop was an exceptionally devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed the woods and waterways of Maine throughout his life through many fishing trips, a camp at Cross Lake and boating in Penobscot Bay. In Castine, he enjoyed giving tractor rides to his grandchildren and cooking lobster dinners at sunset. John Bishop's love for his children and grandchildren was apparent to all who knew him. He will be missed by dear friends throughout the Aroostook and Penobscot areas.

Corey W. O'Brien
1984-2008
Hampden - Corey Walter O’Brien, 23, passed away October 3, 2008 as the result of an accident while doing what he enjoyed most, spending time outdoors. Corey was born in Bangor on November 6, 1984, the son of Paul Michael and Susan Carpenter O’Brien.
Corey grew up in Hampden, where he attended school, and graduated from Hampden Academy, Class of 2003. Corey continued his education at Johnson State College and at the University of Maine at Farmington. He worked tirelessly co-owning and operating a landscaping business in Bar Harbor and will always be remembered as a hard worker and as a person whom played even harder. Corey often helped out at his grandparent's Christmas Tree Farm in Old Town. He had a passion for skiing at Sugarloaf and white water kayaking the rivers of Maine. Corey's quiet demeanor was in contrast to his adventurous spirit. Corey will be remembered for his infectious smile, calm manner, and as a loving son, brother, grandson, and friend to all.
Corey is survived by his loving parents, Paul Michael and Susan Carpenter O’Brien of Hampden; sister, Kelly Margaret O’Brien of Old Town; his much loved girlfriend, Jennie Gallant of Hampden and their faithful canine companion Kona; maternal grandparents, Walter and Elaine Carpenter of Orono; Aunts and Uncles, Nancy and George Putnam and their children Brian, Emily, and Laura, all of Jeffersonville, Vermont; Ellen and Mike LaChance of Brewer and their children Erin of Bangor, Katie of Brewer; Maura O’Brien and children Jeb and Aaron, all of Alaska; Julie and Jerry Chiarell of Whitefield; Steve and Julianne O’Brien and their children Evan, Ian, and Morgan, all of Orefield, Pennsylvania; Janet O’Brien of Owls Head; and Mark O’Brien of Brewer; as well as friends, too numerous to mention.
