Charles H. Beaudreau III
1961-2002
WINTHROP — Charles H. Beaudreau III, of Winthrop, died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at his home.
He was born Nov. 20, 1961, in Newport News, Va., the son of Charles H. Jr. and Patricia (Nichols) Beaudreau.
He grew up in the Brunswick area and attended Brunswick schools. Charles entered the U.S. Navy after school and served three years. After leaving the Navy, he worked in Connecticut for several years until suffering a career-ending injury. He moved to Maine in 2000.
Charles enjoyed fishing, working on cars and helping people. He was always helping someone in need.
Charles was predeceased by his father.
He is survived by his girlfriend, Jessica Fagre; his mother, Pat Walter and her husband, Carlton "Gene"; his grandmother, Antoinette Beaudreau; a son, Charles Earle; four daughters, Christina Earle, Brittany and Ambrosia Fagre and Desiree Fagre; three brothers, Michael Beaudreau of Hillsboro, Ill., Daniel Walter of Gouldsboro and Timothy Walter of South Gardiner; four sisters, Debra Dean of Lewiston, Linda Durfee of Westerly, R.I., Maria Beaudreau of Augusta and Carlene Moon of Bangor.
A funeral will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Charles' family.

Merle E. Carr
1924-2002
SIDNEY — Merle E. Carr, 78, of Cameron Drive, died Monday, June 3, 2002, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta after a long illness.
He was born in Dexter, May 26, 1924, the son of Maurice Carr and Jessie (Page) Carr.
Merle was a graduate of Dexter High School and served honorably in the Army during World War II.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for several years as a sales representative by Clark Marine of Augusta. He was previously employed as a sales representative by Harry Miller Co. of Boston and later by Manset Marine of Rockland for 28 years.
Merle enjoyed playing cards and he developed his craft as a woodworker over many years.
He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church of Augusta, a charter member of the Maine Marine Trade Association, former member and past grand knight of the Knights of Columbus of Dexter, former member and past commander of American Legion Post 53 of Dexter and a member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks of Augusta.
Merle was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lewis Carr, of Dexter.
Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Marie A. (Ronco) Carr of Sidney; one son, Peter Carr and his wife, Jane, of Augusta; four daughters, Lana Wintle and her husband, Calvin, of Detroit, Shawna Foye and her husband, Thomas, of Sidney, Judy Bryant and her husband, Wayne, of Williamsville, N.Y., and Jane Haskins and her husband, Thomas, of Burnt Hill, N.Y.; two brothers, Clayton Carr of Dexter and Dennis Carr of Corinna; two sisters, Charlene Breton of Dexter and Helen LaCasse of Floral City, Fla.; 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, where members of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks of Augusta are asked to meet at 7:30 p.m. to offer a service. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 6, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Augusta. Burial will follow at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery
in Augusta.

Timothy M. Erbe
1962-2002
WOODBURY, Conn. —Timothy M. Erbe, died Saturday, June 1, 2002, at Connecticut Hospice Center after a 10-year battle with cancer.
He was born Sept. 23, 1962, in Gardiner, Maine, the son of William and Lynn (Stephenson) Erbe of Woodbury.
He attended and graduated from the University of Southern California with a bachelor's degree in performing arts.
Tim was a member of the First Congregational Church of Woodbury, where he helped start the church's prayer group. He also was the editor of the church newspaper. He was a member of the Oratory of the Little Way.
Tim enjoyed nature and spending time outside hiking and gardening. He was also an active member of the Washington Art Association as well as the Brookfield Art Association, where he enjoyed painting and ceramics.
Besides his parents, Tim leaves a stepmother, Betty Erbe of Portland, Maine; two brothers, Christopher Erbe of Springfield, Va., and Jim Erbe of Portland; one stepbrother, John Hall of Port Clyde, Maine, and two stepsisters, Nancy Mcwilliams and Peggy Sayer, both of Portland; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Jonathan.
A memorial service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, at the First Congregational Church of Woodbury. Burial will be at the family's convenience.

Phyllis P. Frost
1924-2002
FARMINGTON — Phyllis Parker Frost, 78, of Farmington, died Thursday, May 30, 2002, at the Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.
She was born Feb. 4, 1924, in Temple, the third child of Stanley John and Jessie (Brown) Parker.
She spent her early years in the two-room schoolhouse in West Farmington, which proved to be the happiest times in spite of the Depression. After the family moved to Farmington, she attended Farmington High School and graduated a commercial student in 1942.
After working in Strong, she moved to Augusta, where she became a legal secretary. In 1946, she married Charles Frost of Augusta. While he attended Northeastern University in Boston, two of their children were born. After graduation, they moved to Calais and their third child was born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick. After they returned to the Augusta area, she enjoyed many happy years raising her children.
In 1960, she resumed work at Augusta General Hospital as a nurse's aide and later as a licensed practical nurse in the pediatric ward, also driving a school bus for Winthrop schools. Upon moving back to Farmington, she worked in the nursery at Franklin Memorial Hospital.
Phyllis' interests were many. She enjoyed painting in oils and acrylics, cooking and nutrition, genealogy, herb and vegetable gardening, knitting, crocheting, and caring for stray animals.
She was a member of the Henderson Memorial Baptist Church, Natural Resources Council of Maine, National Geographics Society, St. Andrews Society of Maine and Public TV.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Mark and his wife, Joanne, of Farmington; two daughters, Patricia Freitag of Mercer and Hollie Frost of Hebron; three grandchildren, Jonathan Frost and his wife, Sonya, of Canaan, Jodi Hodgdon and her husband, Chris, of Waterboro, and Gabriel Frost and his wife, Kelly, of Lothian, Md.; great-grandchild, John Charles Frost of Lothian.
A public memorial graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 7, at the Riverside Cemetery
in Farmington with Dr. Doug Dunlap officiating.
Arrangements are in the care of the Wiles Funeral Home, 137 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington.
Doris R. Levasseur
1941-2002
FARMINGDALE — Doris R. Levasseur, 61, of Litchfield Road and formerly of Augusta, died Monday, June 3, 2002, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta Campus, after a long illness.
She was born in Augusta, March 12, 1941, the daughter of Robert and Alice (Quirion) Jacques.
Doris was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church and was a graduate of Cony High School of Augusta, class of 1959. She had been employed by Hallowell, Taylor and Hazzard Shoe companies for most of her life.
She was a member of the North American Family Campers Association, Pine Tree Chapter No. 33.
She is survived by her husband, Ernest O. Levasseur Jr. of Farmingdale; a son, Richard R. Levasseur of Augusta; a brother, Roger P. Jacques of Augusta; an uncle and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may visit from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 6, at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday, June 7, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Northern Avenue, Augusta. Burial will follow in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.

Alvin S. 'Mac' MacKenzie
1921-2002
BRUNSWICK —Alvin S. "Mac" MacKenzie, 80, of Birch Meadow Road in Brunswick died at Mid Coast Hospital, Sunday, June 2, 2002, after a brief illness.
Mac was a kind, gentle and patient man with a great sense of humor.
Mac was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Sept. 24, 1921, the son of Murdock and Mary (Smith) MacKenzie.
Mac came to United States with his family at age 5. He attended Brunswick schools and graduated from Brunswick High School in 1941. Before joining the Army in November, 1942, he worked at the Pejepscot Paper Co. Mac served in the 266th U.S. Field Artillery Battalion during World War II in the European sector. He took part in several battles including the Battle of Normandy. While in the Army stationed in France, he became a U.S. naturalized citizen.
After returning to Brunswick, Mac worked for Railroad Express Co. and went to work for U.S. Postal Service in Brunswick as a postal carrier, retiring in 1981.
Mac was proud to be a member and past exalted ruler of the Brunswick Lodge of Elks, and a member of the First Parish Church. Mac enjoyed traveling throughout 49 of the 50 states with his wife and most recently traveling extensively in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. Mac and his wife enjoyed boating, living aboard their "Fair Lady" during the summer until 1987.
Mac was a devoted husband. His devotion to his family was inspiring, and he and his wife take great joy in sharing their family cottage at Shoal's Cove in West Bath with their family.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Coombs MacKenzie; his children, Kirk and Robin Dwyer of East Burke, Vt., Blair and Jodie Dwyer of Brunswick, Thad and Deborah Dwyer of Orono, Dane and Gail Dwyer of Bath, Hugh and Jennifer Dwyer of Brunswick and Wendy Dwyer Roy and Michael Roy of Winslow; 15 beloved grandchildren; his sister, Florence MacKenzie Coffin of Freeport, and several nephews and nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Clarence MacKenzie, and two sisters, Bessie Hicken and Edna Wilson.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 10, at the First Parish Church in Brunswick. Following the service, the family will greet friends at the Brunswick Lodge of Elks on Park Row. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
