Donald Clyde Peaslee Sr.
1949-2003
WHITEFIELD — Donald Clyde Peaslee Sr., 54, of Whitefield died on Friday, July 25, 2003, in Falmouth of a massive heart attack.
He was born in Damariscotta on April 30, 1949. He was the son of Harold and Ruth Peaslee.
He was the most loving husband and father ever known. His greatest joy was his grandchildren. His next-greatest love was working in the woods or out on the mud flats. He was an avid NASCAR fan, with Jeff Gordon being his favorite driver.
He married the love of his life, Georgia Brown-Peaslee, on Nov. 24, 1973, in Whitefield.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Georgia Peaslee; his sons are Donald Peaslee Jr. and Lloyd Brown of Whitefield; his daughters are Tammy Peaslee of Readfield, Angela Gant and husband Ronnie of Augusta, Michelle Bossie and husband Ken of Whitefield, and Ruth Peaslee and fianceeJeremy Watson of Boston; the grandchildren are Justin Brown, Shawn Peaslee, Jonathon Gant, Troy Gant, Gabrielle Gant and Ashlee Bossie. He is also survived by mother-in-law Emily Jones; his brothers are Mike Wilson, Charlie Wilson, Robert Wilson, Harold Peaslee Jr., Benny Peaslee, Edward Peaslee Sr., Paul Peaslee, Ricky Peaslee and Dale Peaslee; his sisters are Serena Delano, Patsy Mitten, Alta Miller, Pauline Peaslee and Tina Melanson; and he has several nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by his parents, Harold Peaslee Sr. and Ruth Weaver Peaslee; and brother Albert Peaslee Sr.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, at Strong Funeral Home, 612 Main St., in Damariscotta. Visiting hours will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 29. Pallbearers are Lloyd Brown, Ronnie Gant, Ken Bossie, Jeremy Watson, Brian Weeks, Danny Peaslee and Rusty Austin.
Leonel J. Caron
WATERVILLE — Leonel J. Caron, 75, a resident of Woodlands Retirement Home, died unexpectedly Monday morning, Feb. 28, 2000, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, in Waterville.
He was born May 22, 1924, in Waterville, son of Joseph and Celina (Nadeau) Caron, and attended Waterville schools.
He was retired from Alco Packing Co. He enjoyed
hunting
, fishing, golfing, and volunteering at Sacred Heart soup kitchen.
He was predeceased by his wife, Laurette (Vigue) Caron, June 13, 1996; his parents; two sisters, Juliette Caron and Antoinette Gurney; and one brother, George J. Caron.
Survivors include his two daughters, Mrs. Warren (Linda) Knowles, of Manchester, and Mrs. Ted (Nancy) Patrie, of Fairfield; one brother, Donald Caron, and wife, Maxine, of Waterville; three sisters, Mrs. Merlin F. (Christine) Sylvester, of Winslow, Dorothy Lennon, of Waterville, and Mrs. Joseph (Arlene) Lessard, of Winslow; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Scott (Patricia) Holmes, of Waterville, and Marlene Caron, of Waterville; three grandchildren, Sabrina Salsbury, of Waterville, Bruce Salsbury, of Fairfield, and Darren Knowles, of Manchester; three great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
There will be no public visiting hours.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, at Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville, with the Rev. Philip Tracy officiating.

Raymond L. Blair
RICHMOND — Raymond Blair, 94, of Beedle Road, died Saturday, Feb. 26, at his residence.
Family and friends are welcome at services being held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 29, at Kincer Funeral Home, 14 South Pleasant St., Richmond, with Rev. Bruce Alexander officiating. Burial and a graveside service will be held in the spring at Richmond Cemetery, Richmond.

Shirley Pollacik
TUCSON, Ariz. — Shirley Pollacik, 81, died quietly at home in Tucson, Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000.
A retired music teacher and pianist, the former Shirley Louise Pittenger was born Oct. 23, 1918, in Washington, N.J., to Agnes Louise (Major) Pittenger and Walter Scott Pittenger. After graduating as valedictorian of her Washington High School class, she earned a music education degree from Trenton State Teachers College, and taught in the Washington schools for several years.
She married Stephen Pollacik, of Somerville, N.J., on Dec. 11, 1943.
They moved to Ewingville, N.J., in 1952, where she raised her family and taught choral and general music at Grice Junior High School in Hamilton Township for 11 years. Her school concerts were broadcast overseas on Voice of America during the 1960s.
In 1961, she began the tradition of summers in Maine with her family. She later taught music at the Lanning School in Ewing. She was a member of and junior choir director at the Ewing Presbyterian Church and a long time subscriber to the Metropolitan Opera.
After the death of her husband in 1985, she divided her time between Tucson and Belgrade Lakes. She supported many arts, conservation and wildlife organizations and was a charter member of Union Church of Belgrade Lakes, where she shared her expressive, deeply felt piano playing through the summer of 1999.
She was blessed with health and vitality her whole life. Unreservedly loved by her family, she was a wonderful mother. She had a way of bringing out the best in others and had innumerable friends who enjoyed her easy laughter, radiant smile, empathy, and sense of humor.
Besides spending time with family members, she loved dancing to the bands of the swing era, theater, ballet, concerts, antiques, art, swimming in the lake, cooking, Venice, a dry martini, the Arizona Wildcats, the desert, her cats, whale-watching, gardening and southern France.
She is survived by her three children and three grandchildren, Susan Pollacik Tarack and her daughter, Jeanette Pittenger Javore of New York City; Jane Louise Swivel and her daughters, Rebecca Susan and Emily Elizabeth, of Tucson; and Scott Pollacik, of Belgrade Lakes.
Visiting hours will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., Friday, March 3, followed by a funeral service at DeVoe Funeral Service, 136 West Washington Ave., Washington, N.J. Interment will be in Washington Cemetery.
Raymond A. Fortin
AUGUSTA — Raymond A. Fortin, 62, of Cony Road, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta after a long illness.
He was born in Augusta, Aug. 7, 1937, the son of Henry Fortin and Marion (Cloutier) Fortin, and attended Augusta schools.
He was employed as a painter and paperhanger by Jean-Paul Fortin Painting Contractor for 10 years. He was previously employed by Sid Pare & Son Painters, Don Larochelle and he was self-employed for a time.
Raymond was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He liked listening to country music, playing horseshoes and pool. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren.
Raymond was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Roger Fortin, in 1936.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia (Vigue) Fortin, of Augusta; his mother of Augusta; four sons, Armand Fortin, Timothy Fortin, and his wife, Paula, Raymond Fortin Jr., and his wife, Penny, and Randy Fortin, all of Augusta; three sisters, Theresa Gilbert, and her husband, Noel, of Chelsea, Reinette Lapierre, and her husband, Robert, and Sylvia Douin, and her husband, Dominique, all of Augusta; six grandchildren and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 29, at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Kendall Street, Augusta. Spring interment is planned at Holy Family Cemetery.

Prudence V. Webster
GARDINER — Prudence V. Webster, 79, formerly of Gardiner and Boothbay Harbor, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta.
She was born in Hallowell, July 28, 1920, the daughter of Desire and Eva Jock Vigue.
Mrs. Webster was a graduate of Cony High School.
Prudence enjoyed her family, traveling to Florida in the winter and Boothbay Harbor in the summer.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Richard Webster, of Gardiner; her son Peter R. and his wife Connie Webster, of Winnetka, Ill.; two grandchildren, Gregory Webster, of Chicago, Ill., and Katherine Webster, of Winnetka, Ill.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 3, at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Alzheimers Care Center, 150 Dresden, Ave., Gardiner.
Ruth Ann Willey
AUGUSTA — Ruth Ann Willey, 52, of Augusta, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, in Augusta.
She was born in Bloomington, Calif., Dec. 17, 1947, the daughter of Ina Webb Martin.
Mrs. Willey was predeceased by her husband, Everett Willey, and her brother, Buck Martin.
She is survived by two sons, John Willey, of Augusta, and James Willey, of Skowhegan; a daughter, Tammy Weddington, and her fiance, Jimmy Waldeck, of Augusta; a brother, George Martin, and his wife Donna, of San Bernardino, Calif.; and seven grandchildren, Eddie, Josh, Michael, Daniel, Haley, Chelsea and Brett; and her dog, Princess.

The Lord above has taken you into his waiting arms. He holds you close and fills your soul with perfect happiness. Your feelings of loneliness and grief, sadness, and sorrow, are now just a distant memory. Peace has now consumed your existence in the house of our dear Lord and Savior. Take your seat in heaven with great pride my dearest mother. Look down upon this earth and see nothing but sweet memories. You now have brilliant wings in heaven. Marjorie C. Bodge
GARDINER — Marjorie Clara Bodge, 84, formerly of Pittston, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Robinson's Health Care Facility in Gardiner.
She was born in Dresden, July 5, 1915, the daughter of Frank M. and Jennie Lovendale Hall.
She worked for 20 years at New England Telephone and Telegraph, in Gardiner, and as a switchboard operator for Augusta General Hospital for several years.
She loved working in her flower gardens, bird feeding and going to camp at The Forks.
She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Elwyn J. Bodge, who died Feb. 16, 1998.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Richard and Dianne Bodge, of Pittston; four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Burial will be in the spring in the family lot in Whitefield Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the care of Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner.
Denise M. Spinney
FARMINGTON — Denise M. Spinney, 49, of Farmington, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Edgewood Manor Nursing Care, in Farmington, where she had been a patient for the past two months following a long battle with cancer.
She was born June 10, 1950, in Augusta, the daughter of Euclide J. and June M. (McMahon) Poulin.
Denise graduated from Alemany High School, in San Fernando Valley, Calif. She attended Pierce College in West Walley and University of California-Long Beach.
She married James Murphy in the late 1970s. He died in the early 1980s. She married Dale Spinney, Nov. 25, 1982, in Randolph.
Denise was a housewife most of her life. As a young woman she worked in a nursing home in California and later worked in the cotton mill in Augusta. She attended Catholic church in California. Denise enjoyed being around her children.
She was predeceased by a brother, David Poulin.
Mrs. Spinney is survived by her husband, of Farmington; her parents, of Augusta; a daughter, Christal Spinney, and a son, Gordon Spinney, both of Farmington; a brother, Dana Poulin, of Huger, S.C.; and a sister, Danielle Choate, of Farmingdale.
At the request of the family there will be no visiting. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. Friends wishing may make donations in her memory to the American Cancer Society, Maine Division, Inc., 62 Federal Street, Brunswick 04011.
Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Court Street, Farmington.
