Wilfred H. Wagner
FARMINGTON — Wilfred Henry Wagner, 87, of Dixfield, died early Sunday morning, April 1, 2001, at the Sandy River Center for Health Care and Rehabilitation in Farmington.
He was born Nov. 11, 1913, in East Sumner, a son of Ozem J. and Hattie Belle (Mackay) Wagner, and was raised and educated in Livermore and Livermore Falls schools, graduating in 1931 from Livermore Falls High School.
In 1932, he married Tekla Rodzen of Wilton.
He was employed at the Wilton Woolen Mill for 26 years and served a term as president of the local union there. He also worked for K & H Foster Construction Co., Oxford Paper Co. and SAD 21 in Dixfield, until his retirement in 1975.
Over the years, he attended churches in Dryden, Livermore Falls and Dixfield. He served on the Board of Selectmen in Wilton, was a 1st Lieutenant in the Maine State Guard during World War II, and was a member of the Williamson Lodge No. 20 IOOF in Wilton.
He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed
hunting and fishing. He loved to read and did crossword puzzles daily until recent years.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Tekla, of Dixfield; a son, Lauriston Wagner and his wife, Irene Wagner, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Beverly Collins and her husband, Keith Collins, of Farmington; five sisters, Arlene Karkos, of Jay, Ruth Warren, of Texas, Edith Preston, of Jay, Doris Chandler, of Livermore Falls, and Donna Lee, of Weld; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Carrie Conrad and Lottie Greenleaf, and four brothers, Howard Wagner, Clarence Wagner, Joshua Wagner and Arthur "Bud" Wagner.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, at the Wiles Funeral Home, 136 High St., Wilton. Winter entombment will be at the funeral home. Spring burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery
in Wilton.
Olga E. Bailey
WATERVILLE — Olga Elizabeth Bailey, 94, of Waterville, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home in Waterville.
She was born Aug. 6, 1906, in Newton Center, Mass., daughter of Albert S. and Almira (McMullin) Bailey. She moved to Clinton in 1920 after the death of her mother. She graduated from Clinton High School and Farmington State Teachers College.
She was employed as a governess in Rhode Island for many years then as executive housekeeper at Rhode Island Hospital from 1945 to 1955, executive housekeeper for Lowell General Hospital in Lowell, Mass., from 1955 until retiring in 1972.
After retiring, she moved to Winslow to live with her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Merritt Stinson.
She was a member of the Pleasant Street United Methodist Church of Waterville.
Survivors include a sister, Thelma A. Stinson, of Scarborough; three nephews, Sheridan Bailey of Clinton, Nathan Bailey of Portland and Matthew Bailey of New Orleans, La.; two nieces, Paula Bailey of Clinton and Joyce McDonough of Portland; several great-nieces and great-nephews.
At her request there will be no services. Burial will be at the Newton Center Cemetery
in Newton Center, Mass. Arrangements are under the direction of the Redington Funeral Home in Waterville.

Aime J. Barrieault
SKOWHEGAN — Aime J. Barrieault, 96, a resident of Skowhegan since 1922, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at the Cedar Ridge Nursing Care Center in Skowhegan.
He was born Nov. 13, 1904, in Gardner, Mass., son of Peter and Marguerite (Poirier) Barrieault, and attended the Gardner school system.
He married Mamie M. Cyer, Aug. 19, 1929, in Skowhegan; she died March 24, 2001.
From 1926 to 1942 he was employed as a bedlaster for Somerset Shoe leaving there to work for the South Portland shipyard form 1943 through 1944. In 1945 he and his wife, Mamie, reopened the Bushey Market that had closed in 1942. The Barrieaults both retired in 1970.
He was a communicant at the Notre dame Church in Skowhegan and was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 70 years. He loved to go fishing.
Survivors include one daughter, Pauline Lagassey of Skowhegan, and one son, Donald Barrieault and his companion, Marie McMahon, of Lake Montezuma, Ariz.; two brothers, Jules Barrieault of Rockledge, Fla., and Ernest Barrieault of Gardner, Mass., and two sisters, Rosanna Grondin, of Skowhegan, and Marie Barrieault of Minnesota; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at the Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, Water Street, Skowhegan, with the Rev. Father Maurice Morin officiating. Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery
in Skowhegan.

Wilfred Boudreau
WATERVILLE — Wilfred Boudreau, 78, of Waterville, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at his home following a short illness of cancer.
He was born Dec. 26, 1922, in Waterville, son of David and Anna (Johnston) Boudreau, and attended Waterville schools, graduating from Waterville High School in 1940. He served in World War II with the U.S. Army. He married Isabel Hachey in 1947.
He was employed at Keyes Fibre Co. for 25 years.
Wilfred enjoyed bowling, golfing, woodworking crafts, but most importantly watching his grandchildren in many sports and taking Sunday rides with his wife, Lois.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Herbert Boudreau and Gerald (Chubby) Boudreau, and his sisters, Teresa Beaulieu, Hermalene Babb and Mary Poulin.
Survivors include his wife, Lois (Hachey) Boudreau of 17 years of Waterville; two sons and their families, David and Clara Boudreau of Fairfield and Daniel and Gina Boudreau of Fairfield; two stepsons, Michael Hachey and his wife, Mary, of Harmon, and Thomas Hachey and his wife, Jan, of Oakland; stepdaughter, Virginia Joseph of Oakland; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; his sister, Joanne Bourque and her husband, James, of Waterville; brother-in-law, Albert Poulin, of Winslow.
A memorial service will be held at the Father Leonard LeClair Memorial Chapel at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery
in Augusta at a time and date to be announced. There will be no visiting hours. Arrangements are by Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville.

Cecil A. Church
AUGUSTA — Cecil A. Church, 77, of Augusta, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at Glenridge Nursing Care Center in Augusta following a long and debilitating illness.
He was born May 31, 1924, the son of Aubrey and Ethel Church, of Shirley Mills, Maine, and graduate from Greenville High School.
Cecil made his living as a carpenter and millwright. He married Gladys F. Fortin of Waterville, where they lived for nearly 40 years.
He was a member of Carpenters Local Union 320, Odd Fellows and Cascade Grange. He enjoyed fishing,
hunting, playing cards and woodworking.
He was predeceased by his wife and a brother, Clair E. Church.
Surviving family members include a son, Brian J. Church, and daughter-in-law, Rev. Laura E. Church; grandchildren, Rachel, Rebekah and Michael Church, all of Rome, Maine; sister, Audrey J. Benoit of South Wellfleet, Mass.; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug., 8, at the Union Church of Belgrade Lakes, Route 27, Belgrade Lakes, followed by a time of visiting and refreshments at the church. Arrangements are by Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdion St., Winthrop.

Teresa Diversi
WATERVILLE — Teresa Diversi, 90, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001 at Mount St. Joseph Nursing Facility.
She attended Winslow schools, graduating from Winslow High School, class of 1928. She was married to Louis Diversi Jr., who predeceased her in 1955.
She was born in Waterville, Jan., 11, 1911, the daughter of Joseph and Natalina (Rovati) Megazzini.
Teresa worked for many years at MaineGeneral Medical Center (formerly Thayer Hospital) as manager of the medical records department. After retiring, Teresa volunteered her time at the Sacred Heart Soup Kitchen.
She was predeceased by her two sisters, Mary Jenness, in 1993, and Franca Megazzini, in 1998.
Survivors include her two nieces, Carla Jenness, of Waterville, and Paula Johnson, of Winslow; two grandnephews, Robert Johnson and Alex Johnson, both of Winslow; and a nephew, Ronald Diversi, of Lisbon, N.H.
Visiting hours will be at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville, 2-4 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 5, and 10-11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 6, with a memorial service following.

Patricia J. Edgecomb
SIDNEY — Patricia J. Edgecomb, 69, of Mills Road, died Saturday, Aug.4, 2001, at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
She was born in Augusta, June 9, 1932, the daughter of Wallace and Ruth (Stevens) Bickford. She graduated from Cony High School and was employed by the State of Maine in the Department of Finance for 27 years.
Pat enjoyed camping in the North Maine Woods, vegetable and flower gardening, and traveling to Florida, Mississippi, Missouri, and Georgia.
A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, her family was the single most important part of her life. They will all miss her dearly.
She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Kenneth Edgecomb Sr.; a stepdaughter, Elaine Merrow Brown; two brothers, Wallace and William; and four sisters, Shirley, Beverly, Bonnie, and Virginia.
She is survived by a son, Victor Edgecomb and his wife, Ann, of Newcastle; two stepsons, Eugene Edgecomb Sr. and his wife, Beverly, of Dresden, and Kenneth Edgecomb Jr. of Readfield; a stepdaughter, Sandra Coleman and her husband, Richard, of Winthrop; three brothers, Howard, Paul, and Phillip; two sisters, Evelyn and Jeanne; 14 grandchildren; 16 plus great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends and relatives may visit from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at the Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, One Church Street, Augusta, where a funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, with the Rev. Al York officiating. Burial will follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery
in Belgrade.

John Hall
NEW PORTLAND — John Hall, 101, passed away Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at the Edgewood Rehabilitation & Living Center in Farmington, where he had been a resident for six years.
Hall was the last of nine children of LaForrest and Laura (Harvey) Hall.
Hall was New Portland's oldest resident and had lived there since 1921. He lumbered on his 350-acre farm on the Bog Road for many years, grew his own vegetables, strawberries and was well known for his beautiful gladiolas. He operated a meat wagon for 15 years during the 1930s from New Portland to Eustis, sometimes not selling much, but coming home with homemade mittens, jams and jellies in return for meat.
During World War II, he dispensed surplus commodity food to those in need.
In 1994 Hall was featured on the WBZ Boston Channel 4 news magazine chronicle with his daughter, Laura Hall Dunham, showing off the perfect round ball of hair he found in a cow's stomach.
He had served as New Portland's town health officer, overseer of the poor, selectman and was on the SAD 74 school board. He was a member and former Master of the Fernwood Grange and also served as state and county officers. He was a former member and former Noble Grand of the Odd Fellows.
His wife of 67 years, Hazel (Young) Hall, passed away Feb. 8, 1988.
He is survived by his son, Emery Hall and his wife, Florence, of New Portland; his daughters, Marilyn Hall Clark of New Hampton, N.H., and Laura (Hall) Dunham and her husband, Howard, of Kingfield; grandchildren, Judy Louiselle, Joyce Werblin, Mikaela (Jane Hall) Alexander, all of New Portland, John Hall of Bath, Bonnie Ruiter, Jan Hale and Lynn Bates of New Hampshire, Kim Nile of Pennsylvania, and a very special granddaughter, Deb Jordan of Carrabassett Valley; 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Giberson Funeral Home, 40 Maple St., Madison. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at the funeral home with the Rev. Ronald Meldrum of Kingfield officiating. Interment will be at the East Cemetery
in New Portland.
