Lawrence Blanchard
1929-2003
WAKEFIELD, Mass. —Lawrence Blanchard, 73, of Wakefield, died unexpectedly Thursday, March 13, 2003, at the Veterans Hospital in Boston.
He was born July 29, 1929, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of Ray and Jenna Blanchard. Lawrence graduated from Madison High School in 1948.
Shortly after graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Germany where he took part in Operation Berlin Air Lift. He was an Air Force firefighter.
Survivors include his four children, Jeanine McCauley and Ray, Jack and Shaun Blanchard; and his seven grandchildren. He was the brother of Corinne Breault of Madison, Earl Blanchard of Augusta, and the late Mike Blanchard.
Relatives and friends attended a funeral Mass celebrated at St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St., Reading, Mass. Arrangements are by Joseph Doherty Funeral Home in Reading. As directed, Lawrence was cremated.
Florence L. "Sis" (Fennell) (Vincent) Kilkus
1929-2003
BROCKTON, Mass. —Florence L. "Sis" Kilkus, 74, of Brockton, passed away on Saturday morning, July 26, 2003, at her home after a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 28, 1929, in Brockton, the daughter of the late Robert E. and Jennie L. (Bowers) Fennell. She had been a longtime resident of Brockton and was a graduate of Brockton High School.
Florence was the wife of the late Robert A. Vincent and Louis J. Kilkus. She had owned and operated both the Kilkus Deli and Kilkus Bakery in Brockton. She enjoyed knitting, making floral arrangements, baking, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Leo R. Vincent of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Bruce E. Vincent of Onset; one daughter, Michelle M. Andrews of Brockton; her grandchildren, Stacy, Lee, Joshua and Kristen Vincent, James and Matthew Pauliks, James IV and Collette Andrews, Dawn O'Laughlin, and Lisa, Erin and Alexis Vincent; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Robert E. Fennell Jr. and Richard Fennell, both of Albion, Maine; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was the sister of the late William and Leo Fennell.
A funeral will be held at 8 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St., (Route 123), Brockton, with a funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Brockton. Burial to take place at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Norris F. Chapman
RICHMOND — Norris F. "Bud" Chapman, 67, of River Road, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at his residence after a brief illness. His family was by his side.
He was born in Dresden, Sept. 26, 1932, the son of Norris and Thelma (Murray) Chapman.
He attended local schools and later went on to serve in the Army during the Korean War.
A dedicated and hard-working person, Bud was employed by Bath Iron Works for more than 17 years as a tinsmith.
He was a member of the Dresden-Richmond Methodist Church, Local S-6 of Bath Iron Works and past member of the American Legion Post 132 of Richmond.

, fishing and time spent with his grandchildren, particularly grandson Jonathan Graves.
Bud is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Olive M. Chapman; sons, Jody Chapman, and his wife, Bette, of Richmond, Mark Chapman, of Portland, and his fiancee, Laura Antrigian, Bill Chapman, and his fiancée, Shelly, of Saco; daughter, Belinda Chapman, and her fiancé, Roland, of Leeds; brothers, William Chapman, of Embden, Richard Chapman, of Connecticut, John Chapman, of Wiscasset, Paul Chapman, of Dresden, Charles Chapman, of Wiscasset, Bruce Chapman, of Richmond, Daniel Chapman, of Bowdoinham, Carroll Chapman, of Vassalboro; sisters, Elinor Collins, of Massachusetts, Phyllis Hall, of Fairfield, Joyce Morton, of Embden, Gloria James, of Richmond; grandchildren, Rachel, Joel Jr., Jonathan, Naomi, Shawntee, Aaron; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, at Kincer Funeral Home, South Pleasant Street, Richmond.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, at the Dresden-Richmond Methodist Church, South Pleasant Street, Richmond, with pastor Margaret Queior officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery
in Dresden.

Arlene B. Holden
JACKMAN — Arlene Bulmer Holden, 89, of Jackman, died Saturday, May 7, 2000, at the Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan following a brief illness.
She was born June 20, 1910, in Jackman, daughter of John and Lois (Shelley) Bulmer.
Arlene married Neil Holden in 1936.
She had been a resident of Madison for 25 years.
She and her husband owned and operated a farm near Cloughs Corner in Madison for several years until Mr. Holden's death in 1972. Arlene then continued to work at Skowhegan area shoe shops until her retirement, after which she moved back to Jackman.
Survivors include a sister, Louise B. Hughey, of Jackman; sister-in-law, Marjorie Worster, and husband, Ralph, of Moose River; aunt, Blanche Shelley, of Jackman; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 13, at the Church of the Nazarene in Jackman. Interment will be at Southside Cemetery
in Skowhegan. Arrangements are by Giberson Funeral Home of Bingham.
Lillian A. Kochler
WATERVILLE — Lillian A. Kochler, 89, of Waterville and formerly of Newark, N.J., passed away Saturday, May 6, 2000, at a Waterville nursing home.
She was born April 16, 1911, in Newark, N.J., daughter of William A. and Anna (Honig) Bescherer, and attended New Jersey schools.
Her husband, Hellmuth Koehler, passed away Sept. 30, 1995.
Mrs. Kochler was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking for her family, traveling and crocheting.
She attended a Baptist church in Newark.
Survivors include her daughter, Ann L. Hines, and husband, Donald, of Palermo; sister, Priscilla Dettloff, of New Jersey; seven grandchildren, Diane Haskell, and husband, Doug, of Palermo, Donald Hines, and wife, Ann, of Albion, Glen Hines, and wife, Cathy, of Fairfield, Gail Hines, of Palermo, Harry Andren and Barbara Andren, both of Toms River, N.J., and Debbie Clark, of Riverside, Calif.; eight great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Helen Andren; two brothers and three sisters.
Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, May 8, at the Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield. Burial will be held later at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union, N.J.
Preston M. Taylor Sr.
NORTH ANSON — Preston Mahlon Taylor Sr., 65, died Friday, May 5, 2000, at his home in North Anson.
He was born Sept. 15, 1934, in Skowhegan, son of John Henry and Augusta May (Robinson) Taylor.
He had been a resident of North Anson for the past 11 years and previously lived in Connecticut. He had served with the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1964.
He was retired from Pratt & Whitney of East Hartford, Conn., following 28 years of employment.
Preston was a member of the American Legion of Wethersfield, Conn., and a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks No. 2531 in Skowhegan.
A son, Dennis Taylor, and a brother, John Taylor, died previously.
Survivors include Brenda (Thompson) Taylor, of East Hartford, Conn.; his children, Preston Taylor Jr., and wife, Amy, of East Hartford, Kimberly Morse, and husband, Arthur, of Embden, and Michelle Taylor, and fiancé, Bruce Browne, of East Hartford; his brother, Henry Taylor, and wife, Abby, of Skowhegan; his sisters, Helen Padgett, and husband, Edward, of Ocean Shores, Wash., and Cecelia Wyman, of Skowhegan; five grandchildren, Chad and Josh LaChance, Dennis and Toby Hitchcock, and Kimberlee Taylor; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 13, at the Southside Cemetery
in Skowhegan. Arrangements are by Giberson Funeral Home of Madison.

Michael J. Spreda
ALBION — Michael J. Spreda, 55, of Albion, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, June 3, 2000, at his home.
He was born Jan. 25, 1945, in Meriden, Conn., son of John and Caroline (Kissel) Spreda. He had served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.
He retired from his own company in 1998.
Michael was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans in Southington, Conn., and a life member of the American Legion.
His father, John Spreda, predeceased him.
Survivors include his wife, CarolAnn Spreda, of Albion; two daughters, Milissa A. Spreda, of Plantsville, Conn., and Christine A. Elkins, of Bristol, Conn.; three grandchildren, Brian, Adam and Nicole Elkins, all of Bristol; his mother, Caroline Spreda, of Waterville; a brother, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He will be missed by many friends, who loved and respected him.
There will be no service. Arrangements are by Lawry Brothers Funeral Home of Fairfield.
Nancy J.W. Swanson
READFIELD — Nancy J.W. Swanson, 64, of Readfield, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care, Graybirch Drive, Augusta.
She was born March 8, 1936, in Biddeford, daughter of Seth A. and Leora (Jenney) Whitcomb, and attended Saco and Readfield schools, graduating from Kents Hill School.She attended the University of Maine at Orono, Providence Bible Institute, and the University of Maine at Augusta. She became a registered nurse and was employed by Brighton Hospital, Waterville Osteopathic Hospital and Augusta General Hospital. She also did some private-duty nursing, retiring in 1999.
Nancy was a member of Hope Baptist Church, in Manchester. She enjoyed traveling, arts and crafts, and reading.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents, and one brother, Nathan E. Whitcomb.
Survivors include three brothers, Ross Whitcomb, of Lancaster, Texas, Aaron A. Whitcomb, of Readfield, and Cyrus E. Whitcomb, of Readfield; two sisters, Martha Whitcomb, of Readfield, and Harriet Bulmer, of Smithfield; several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may visit from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 5, at Roberts Funeral Home, 26 Bowdoin St., Winthrop.
A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, at the funeral home with pastor Dan Bowers officiating. Burial will follow at the Readfield Corner Cemetery.
