EVELYN MILDRED MOULTON
SANGERVILLE — Evelyn Mildred Moulton, 90, died at her home Sunday, January 17, 2016, with her daughter and caregiver, Carole by her side. She was born in Dexter, September 13, 1925, the daughter of Leon L. and Lorina (Awalt) Pearl.
Evelyn was a homemaker and also worked at Hathaway Shirt in Dover-Foxcroft. She was called “Ninny” by many, and later “Nunu” after her grandson, Curtis was born. Evelyn lost her husband very early in life and was forced to overcome many of life’s challenges by herself. Her meticulous nature with everything in life from her cooking to keeping her house was one of her great virtues. “Nunu” enjoyed cooking breakfast for two of her grandsons, Curtis and Corey every morning before school. She believed a good breakfast was needed for them to do well in school. Her greatest achievement in her own words was raising her three children. She was proud to say that when she was no longer able to maintain her yard, her son-in-law Jeffery maintained it for her.
She was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Clarence ”Karky” Moulton; a brother, Leon Pearl Jr. of Georgia; 3 sisters, Geraldine “Gerry” Hughes of Phippsburg, and Irene Nelson, and Madeline Anderson both of Dexter.
She is survived by a son, Chester “Skippy” Moulton of Eddington and his good friend, Pam Dunham; 2 daughters, Cynthia “Cindy” Troy and her husband, Martin of Waterville, and Carole Jean Wharff and her husband, Jeffery of Sangerville; 6 grandchildren, Ryan Troy of Benton, Laura Troy and her husband, Ross Whitaker, Kelly Moulton, and Lisa Rennert and her husband, Matt, all of VA, Curtis Wharff and his girlfriend, Shaunna of NH, and Corey Wharff and his girlfriend, Alice of Sangerville; 5 great grandchildren, Mykenzie Veilleux of Waterville, Miranda Troy of Benton, Caleb and Ava Rennert of VA, and Aiden James Wharff of Auburn; a sister, Phyllis Nelson of Dexter; and a brother, Maurice “Randy” Pearl of GA; many nieces and nephews.
Evelyn also leaves behind her beloved toy poodle, “Gigi”, who was always by her side.
At her request there will be no funeral services at this time. A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Sangerville Village cemetery.
Donations in Evelyn’s memory may be sent to the Sandra J. Littlefield Scholarship Fund, c/o the Maine Community Foundation, 245 Main Street, Ellsworth, ME 04605. Evelyn was very fond of Sandra, a young woman and close family friend that was taken too young.

STEVEN OWEN SIMPSON
HARTLAND — Steven Owen Simpson, 67, passed away unexpectedly on January 20, 2016, in Skowhegan.
Steven was born on January 20, 1949, in Hartland, Maine, the son of Charles and Marjorie Simpson. He served in the United States Navy from 1969-1973 and received an honorable discharge as an E4. He was employed with Sappi Fine Paper Mill for over 40 years.
His interests through the years consisted of camping, golfing, and testing his luck at the card tables. Most importantly he enjoyed his time with his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Simpson of Hartland; father, Charles Simpson II of Waterville; brother, Doug Simpson of Waterville; sons, Scott Simpson and girlfriend, Alisha, of Winslow, Travis Simpson of Waterville, Adam Simpson of Hartland, Timothy Clark and wife, Tanya, of Pittsfield, Daimon Clark and wife, Mary, of Bangor and Ray Labree of Palmyra; daughters, Tara Post and husband, Eric, of South Carolina, Krystal Simpson of Hartland and Jackie Perkins of Hartland; grandchildren, Samantha, Tyler, Abby, Angel, Jakeup, Ethan, Evan, Laurie, Daimon, and Maddison.
He was predeceased by his mother, Marjorie Simpson; daughter, Rebecca Louise Simpson; and grandson, Seth.
A graveside service will be held at 1 PM, Monday, May 16, 2016, at the Maplewood cemetery, Maple Street, Fairfield, with military honors being presented for his service to our country.
DONALD R. NEAL
DETROIT — Donald Richard Neal, 79, died January 15, 2016 at a Bangor hospital. He was born June 12, 1936 in St. Albans, the youngest son of Gilbert and Iva (Seekins) Neal.
He graduated from Hartland Academy, Class of 1954. Donald proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He retired from Bentley College in Mass and also worked at Ames Department Store in Newport after moving to Detroit.
He was a longtime member and honorary member of the Detroit Fire Department. He also belonged to the American Legion and the Detroit Historical Society. He and his wife also enjoyed traveling.
Donald is survived by his wife of 15 years, Jean Neal of Detroit; sons Ritchie and Michael of Detroit; daughter Katrinajo Sullivan of Salisbury, MA; a brother, Paul and wife Barbara Neal of Rochester, NY; a sister, Beverly (Neal) Martin and husband Raymond of Hartland; a sister in law, Doris Neal of Detroit; step children Everett and wife Theresa McGinnis, Sally Brewer, and Kim McGinnis; grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife Helene (Chamberlain) Neal, and three brothers, Wesley, Oren and Jack.
Graveside committal services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, May 21st, at Detroit Village cemetery. Friends may call from 9 until 10:30 AM at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport.
LENORA MAE (BRAGDON) BLAKE
PALMYRA — Lenora Mae (Bragdon) Blake, 83, passed away January 17, 2016 at Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield surrounded by her family.
Born September 24, 1932 to Reginald Glenwood and Arlene Randall (Ellis) Bragdon In Ashland Maine, where she was raised with her 4 siblings; Burnett, Leah, Jerome and Paula. She graduated from Ashland High School in 1949 and enjoyed returning to Ashland for class reunions.
After a whirlwind courtship, she married
Warren P Blake, USAF, on August 4, 1951. Lenora is survived by her husband of 64 years, Warren Blake of Palmyra; son, Edward Blake of Palmyra; 2 daughters, Donna Benson and husband John of Palmyra and Tammy McDonnell and husband Brian of Raymond; 2 sisters, Paula MacDonald of Gray and Leah Anderson of Palmdale, California.
Her grandchildren; Bonnie Benson Gorrasi, Peter Benson, William Benson, Kayla Rodney Miller and her great grandchildren; Cole, Quinn, Mara, Mia, Ashlyn and Luke were a source of joy for Lenora. Her wonderful talent as a seamstress produced many cherished toys.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of family.

FLORA L. SMART
CAMBRIDGE — Flora L. Smart, 99, went to be with the Lord December 30, 2015, at Dexter Health Care. She was born in Parkman, June 11, 1916, the daughter of George and Annie (Knight) Cookson.
Flora married
Philip Smart June 15, 1934, had 5 children, and assisted her husband in the work of the farm for many years. Flora enjoyed gardening, quilting, yard saleing, camping, and spending lots of time with family and friends. She was a member of the Parkman Grange, and prior to moving to Dexter Health Care, she attended Grace Bible Church in Sangerville and considered Pastor David Kelly a special friend.
She was predeceased by her husband, Philip; a son, Theodore, and his first wife, Diana; a daughter, Shirley Liggett; and 8 sisters and brothers.
She is survived by a son, Jesse Smart and his wife, Lynda of Cambridge; 2 daughters, Virginia Tyler and her husband, Fred of Cambridge, and Gloria Poulin and her husband, John “Tony” of Dexter; a son-in-law, Dale Liggett of Ripley; a daughter-in-law, Faye Smart of Dover-Foxcroft; a brother, Alston Cookson of Cambridge; 2 sisters-in-law, Maxine Cookson of Cambridge, and Pat Cookson of CT; 18 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Friends called from 6 to 8 PM, Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at Crosby & Neal, 21 Oak Street in Guilford. Funeral services were held at the funeral home, 1 PM, Wednesday, January 6, 2016.
Spring burial will be in the Pingree Center cemetery in Parkman.

GEORGE E. WHITE, JR.
HARTLAND — George E. White, Jr., 55, died on Monday, January 4, 2016, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, at his home in Hartland.
George was born on May 13, 1961, the son of the late George and Christine (Dooley) White Sr. He was employed for many years as a textile worker at Guilford Industries in Guilford. He was a hard worker who enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved snowmobiling and spending time with his family. He was a loving father to Sean and will be missed very much.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nadine White of Hartland; son, Sean Cunningham of Hartland; sister, Linda Burrill and husband, Steve, of Hermon; special nieces, Lisa Bowden and husband, Kevin, of Waterville, April Lawler of Hermon and TJ Lawler of Newport; and a favorite cousin and friend, Cindy Libby of Guilford.
A potluck gathering was held at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 9th, at the home of George and Nadine, 396 Ford Hill Road, in Hartland, to celebrate his life.

BRENDA J. JACKSON
NEWPORT — Brenda J. Jackson, 59, went to be with the Lord, January 6, 2016, following a year-long battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends. She was born August 18, 1956 in Bangor, a daughter of the Rev. Theodore and Arlene (Billington) Stinson. Brenda graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1974. For several years she was employed as a CNA at Eastern Maine Medical Center along with her father.
Brenda truly enjoyed being with family and friends at all get togethers.She enjoyed camping and loved playing Bingo. Her sister and best friend Barbara were known as the Bingo Queens and they were inseparable.Barbara spent many nights staying with Brenda at the hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Richard “Dickie” Jackson; a daughter, Carmen Jackson and special friend Dave; a son, Richard “Ricky” and wife Thea Jackson; 3 grandchildren, Mya, Cooper and Abigayle; 2 sisters, Barbara Fish, Flossy and husband Danny Berry; 4 brothers and their wives, Robert and Julie Stinson, Gene and Sharon Stinson, the Rev. James and Tina Stinson, Leonard and Sheryl Stinson; many nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by her parents and a brother in law, John Fish. She will be sadly missed by all, but especially by her husband of 40 years and her loving poodle Muffie.

DONNA M. WALSH
HARTLAND — Donna M. Walsh, 72, died peacefully on Monday, January 4, 2016, at the Cedar Ridge Center in Skowhegan.
Donna was born on June 2, 1943, in Haverhill, Massachusetts, the daughter of Robert and Mary (Mullen) Roche. She graduated from Pawtucket Regional High School and married
Jack in 1974. She worked as a secretary for several years and then as a substitute teacher in the Kennebunk school system. She and her husband moved to Hartland in 2002.
Donna was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time on Great Moose Lake kayaking and swimming with her grandchildren. She also loved taking them sledding down the hill at MCI. She enjoyed being at the beach and going camping and snowmobiling with her husband. She was a member of the Hartland Historical Society.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jack Walsh of Hartland; son, Sean Walsh of Blue Hill; daughters, Lauren Lohn and husband, Mike, of Norridgewock and Kathleen Walsh of Gloucester, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Sydney, Grady, Iris and Allison; brother, Robert Roche and wife, Mary, of Haverhill, Massachusetts; sister, Eileen Roche of Hampstead, New Hampshire; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 PM, Thursday, January 7, 2016, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at noon, Friday, January 8th, at the St. Agnes Catholic Church, Detroit Street, Pittsfield, with Fr. Emile Dube officiating. A committal service will be held at a later date at the St. James cemetery in Haverhill, Massachusetts.

MURIEL “NANA” MICUE
CORINNA & NEWPORT — Muriel E. Micue, 93, received her wings and passed from the physical world into the spiritual world, January 4, 2016 at a Pittsfield hospital. She was born May 23, 1922 in Exeter, a daughter of Jerauld and Annie (Buswell) Butters. She graduated as Valedictorian from Exeter High School and the University of Maine. Muriel was a teacher in the Athens and Madison school districts.
She was a member of the Corinna United Methodist Church and the Cleora Rebekah Lodge where she was a past Noble Grand. She was an avid Bingo player, loved playing Scrabble, knitting, crocheting and was a great cook. Muriel was considered a fixture at Hollywood Slots and traveled to many casinos around the United States. She was a past grand marshal for the Harmony Free Fair as she had attended every season since its inception. Muriel was known by many as “Nana” and loved by all.
She is survived by a son, James Small of Corinth; 2 daughters, Judith Jones of Corinth and Sherrill and husband Linwood “Wally” Wallace of Newport; 9 grandchildren, Jeff and wife Lisa Tilton, Heidi and husband Andy Cohen, Melissa and husband Jeff Amoroso, Sherri Leeman, Kimberly Dodge-Cummings and husband George; Auril and wife Michelle Tasker, Jr., Mark Tasker and partner Karen Taft, Timothy and wife Jen Gould, Sue and husband Vern Palmer; 26 great grandchildren; 17 great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Jean Butters of Wildersville, TN; many nieces and nephews; and Special Friends, Betty Grant and Arlene Jordan. She was predeceased by her first husband, Merrill Small; her second husband Dick Micue; a daughter Starr Davis; 2 brothers, Malcolm and Henry Butters; 3 grandchildren, Michael Tilton, Melanie Bragg, and Mindy Gould; a great granddaughter, Amanda “Mandi” Foss.

MARGARET M. RICHARDS
PALMYRA — Margaret M. Richards, 68, died January 6, 2016 at her Palmyra home following a long battle with cancer. She was born November 12, 1947 in Haverhill, MA, the daughter of Samuel and Margaret (Turney) Coco. She was educated in Massachusetts schools. Margaret was employed at Ethan Allen Furniture Manufacturing in Burnham for many years and following this she was employed at Pride Manufacturing for several years.
Margaret loved to be outdoors in nature. She loved fishing and boating.
Margaret liked to cook, "she was a hell of a cook", known for her biscuits, everyone loved them.
She is survived by her life partner of over 50 years. Floyd L. Richards of Palmyra, one son James L Richards of Palmyra and one daughter, Amy Tarr of Palmyra, her sisters Lynne Richards of Derry NH, and Mary Simoneau of Manchester NH, three grandchildren Jacob, Jacqueline and Michael, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. At her request there are no public services planned at this time. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High Street, Newport.
