PHILIP P. NYE
CORINNA - Philip Paul Nye, 70, died August 1, 2011 at a Pittsfield nursing home. He was born December 28, 1940 in Perham, a son of Orlo G. and Margaret (Kennedy) Nye.
He was employed by Veazie’s Dairy Farm when he was young, and later for Hartland Tannery and the Eastland Woolen Mill until it closed. On June 2, 1962, he married
Diane Buck.
Philip will be remembered for riding around town on his scooter or lawn mower, going out to the Veazie or Simpson farms to see the guys. He loved truck-tractor pulling, NASCAR, and was a Toni Stewart fan. Visits from Lauryn and Aidan Anderson, Jake Paradis or Kaileigh Clowry and Brock always made his day. He was fortunate to have had great neighbors that gave a helping hand when he wasn’t able to do things thanks to Ernie and Mary Kneeland, Scott Butler and his fiancée Heather. It was much appreciated.
In addition to his wife of 49 years, he is survived by 2 sons, Randy and wife Debbie Nye of Ripley, and Patrick and wife Kathy Nye of St. Albans; 2 brothers, Gerald Nye of Hampden and Donald and wife Mary Nye of Corinna; 2 sisters, Alberta Nelson of Dover-Foxcroft and Edith and husband Rick Zajak of Newport; brother-in-law, Terry and wife Esther Buck of Corinna; a sister-in-law, Charlene Emerson of Newport; his mother-in-law, Thelma Buck of Corinna; a step grandson Justin Clowry of Fairfield; step great granddaughter Kaileigh Clowry; several nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his pal Kamie Cat. Philip was predeceased by a brother, Orlo K. Nye; a baby brother, Clarence; and 2 sisters, Phyllis Wright and Gladys Ouellette.

Donald S. Brown
HARTLAND - Donnie Brown, 64, died July 31, 2011 at his residence. He was born October 4, 1946 at Ft. Fairfield a son of Oscar and Madeline (Grass) Brown. He was employed at Hartland Tannery, San Antonio Shoe, Johnson and Hibbard Garage in Hartland and also detailed cars for Central Maine Motors in Waterville.
After retiring, he also detailed cars in his garage. He was a member of the Hartland Fire Department for many years and also served as an ambulance driver for the Hartland-St. Albans Ambulance Service. He enjoyed collecting model cars and baseball caps.
Don was predeceased by his father Oscar, his step-mother Isabelle, his mother Madeline and step-father Harold Higgins; a brother Robert Brown and a sister in law, Margaret Brown.
He is survived by his wife Romona “Mona” of Hartland; 2 sons, Troy Chipman and fiancée Shannon of Hartland, Todd and wife Jennifer Brown of St. Albans; 2 brothers, Dale and wife Dianne Brown of Hartland, Ralph and wife Bonnie Brown of Palmyra; 3 sisters, Betty Foolbear of Fayette, North Carolina, Paula Hughes and husband Earl, and Ella Buker and husband Hadley, all of Hartland; grandchildren Brittany, Austin, Alex, Autumn, Mercedes, Faith, Lily, and Ryan; many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Regina M. Neal
HARTLAND - Regina M. (Baumeister) Neal, age 77, died Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover Foxcroft. Born April 14, 1934 in Hollstadt, Germany, the daughter of Sebastian and Emma P. Baumeister. Regina was married
to Charles Neal for 53 years and he died July 24, 2007.
She was a member of the Hartland V.F.D. Lady’s Auxiliary, Senior Citizens, and the St. Albans Union Church. Regina had many hobbies and interests including cooking, knitting, camping and playing card games.
Regina is survived by 7 sons, Richard Neal and wife Rose of Palmyra, Donald Neal and partner Wendy of Hartland, Jim Neal and partner Tricia of Palmyra, David Neal and partner Becky of St. Albans, Brian Neal and wife Trisha of St. Albans, Sheldon Neal and partner Jody of St. Albans, and Billy Neal and wife Missy of Detroit. She also leaves 8 grandchildren, Eric, Jennifer, Derrick, Leann, Josh, Justin, Lourin, and Mathew; 3 great grandchildren, Ethan, Gavin and Carson.
Graveside services were held Saturday, August 6th, 2011 at 10 AM at the Pine Grove cemetery in Hartland. At her request there will be no funeral or visitation hours.

Amanda Patterson
BURNHAM - Amanda Patterson, 35, died Saturday, July 23, 2011, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born in Waterville on Sept. 23, 1975, the daughter of Jane (Flood) (Patterson) Brann and Darrell W. Patterson. She grew up in Burnham and graduated with honors from Maine Central Institute in 1993.
Amanda was employed as a home health care provider for Mr. and Mrs. Nick Skoby. She loved her family and friends and would lovingly help anyone without hesitation. She was best known for her beautiful smile that lit up any room she walked in. She was kind and forgiving and loved by all.
She spent her last night on earth with her two beautiful daughters and her fiancé. She also had talked to her son on the phone, who was out of town. God had given her the chance to say "hi" and "I love you" to many of her friends while at the Egg Festival.
She is survived by her children, Zackery Raye and girlfriend Abbie Engelhardt, Molly Raye and Sarah Chase; her mother, Jane Brann, and her companion, Butch Wright, of Burnham; her brother, Jasper Beam, of Florida; her fiance', Harold Ketcham, of Burnham, and his parents, David and Debbie Dixon; her beloved grandpa, Clarence Flood, of Burnham; her precious grandmother, Thelma Patterson, of Burnham; Michael Raye, the father of Zackery and Molly; her mother-in-law, Gail Ross, and her companion, Dale Heath; Marcus Chase, the father of Sarah, and his parents, David and Beverly Chase; aunts and uncles Rosemary Overlock and husband Bob, Freeman Patterson, Sue Hewins and husband Alan, Mary Poirier and husband Jerry, Regina Basford and husband Bruce, Wade Flood and wife Christine; Jane Reny and husband Jim; Russell Huff and companion Cammie; nieces and nephews Colby, Dakota, Derek, Ava and Orrie; a special close cousin, Mike Huff; special cousins Ashley, Shawn and Scott, Cheryl, Loretta, Mark, Laurie, Jeff, Scott, Tommy, Beth and Sara, Freeman and Stacey; and several other family members and many friends. She was predeceased by her father, Darrell Patterson; her brother, Troy Patterson; her grandmother, Lucille Flood; and her grandfather, Wilfred Patterson.
A memorial service was held at 11 AM Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield, with the Rev. Obie Walker officiating. A committal service followed at Reynolds cemetery, Lower Horseback Road, in Burnham.
Care for the family has been provided by the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, Pittsfield.
PFC Tyler M. Springmann
PALMYRA & HARTLAND - PFC Tyler M. Springmann, 19, died July 17, 2011 in Kandahar province, Afghanistan. He was born March 26, 1992 in Rockville, CT, the son of Robert Springmann and Tina Stratton. He graduated from Nokomis Regional High, Class of 2010. Tyler enjoyed woodworking and all aspects of carpentry. An avid outdoorsman, he was an accomplished marksman and hunter. He also loved snowmobiling and skate boarding.
PFC Springmann joined the U.S. Army on June 21, 2010 and took basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Georgia. He was assigned to the 25th Striker Brigade located at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. Tyler deployed with his unit to Kandahar province, Afghanistan on May 4, 2011 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. PFC Springmann’s awards include the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Star, Overseas Service Ribbon, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Combat and Special Skill Badge, and Basic Marksmanship Qualification Expert.
He is survived by his wife, Brittney Springmann of Palmyra; his father Army Staff Sgt. Robert Springmann of Ft. Hood, TX; his mother Tina Webber and her husband Ben Martin of Hartland; 2 brothers, Zachary Martin of Hartland and William Springmann of Brandywine, MD; a sister, Keana Martin of Hartland; his grandparents, many cousins, aunts, and uncles, including Aunt Krissy Martin of Orono; and a brother-in-law, Hayden Black of Newport.
Military funeral services were held at 11 AM Friday, July 29th at Nokomis Regional High, 266 Williams Road, Newport, with Chaplain (LTC) Andrew Gibson of the Maine National Guard officiating. Burial with military honors will be held following the funeral at Mt. Pleasant cemetery, Dexter. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. Donald L. Engstrom
NEWPORT & DIXMONT - Donald Leroy Engstrom, 64, died July 21, 2011 at his Dixmont residence. He was born July 29, 1946 in Bangor, a son of Archie and Ruth (Getchell) Engstrom. He was employed for many years at Guilford Industries in Newport, and later owned and operated Riverside Antiques and Collectibles on Main Street in Newport.
He is survived by his wife Linda Engstrom of Dixmont; 2 daughters, Lori Gray and friend Dennis of Belfast and Donna and husband Rich Vetrano of Bangor; 4 stepsons, Robert and wife Michelle French, and Chris French, all of Dixmont, Daniel and wife Jody French of Etna, and Michael and wife Heather French of Bucksport; a stepdaughter, Linda and husband Chester Benson of Bucksport; 19 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Peggy Sukeforth of Bucksport; a brother Stanley Engstrom of Newport; 2 brothers-in-law, David and wife Una Sukeforth of Verona Island and John and wife Sharon Sukeforth of Cabot, AR; 3 sisters-in-law, Sandra and husband Dana Deans of Rice, MN, Diane “Dee Dee” and husband Donald French of Bangor, and Margaret Gerry of Bucksport; many nieces and nephews.

Leo A. Overlock
NEWPORT - Leo Alvin Overlock, 88, died July 16th, 2011, at his Sebasticook Avenue residence. He was born October 12, 1922 in Hermon, a son of Norman and Bertha (Pomroy) Overlock. He worked at Eastland Woolen Mill in Corinna for over 30 years, but had also been employed in everything from bisquit sales to hauling logs.
He married
Elaine Marshall on December 2nd, 1950, and she predeceased him on October 1, 2007. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking long rides with his daughters. He will also be remembered as an avid Red Sox fan.
He is survived by two daughters, Joyce and husband Clifford Lones of Newport, and Emily and husband, Tech. Sergeant Merle Goodridge, U.S. Air Force Retired, of North Pole, Alaska; 2 brothers, Beverly and wife Patricia, and Charles and wife Kathy, all of Hermon; 5 sisters, Jenny and husband, the Rev. Harrison Sylvester of Carmel, Geraldine Ogden of Florida, Celia and husband Elwood “Woody” Beckwith, Jeanette and husband Robert Farrar, all of Hermon, Gloria “Dodo” and husband Charles Spencer of Sanford; 2 grandchildren, Staff Sergeant Ryan and wife Nicole Goodridge of Eielson AFB, Alaska; Heather and husband Staff Sergeant Wesley “Woody” Woods of Fort Benning, GA; 5 great grandchildren, Dylan, Taylor, Christian, Hunter and Alexis; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Laurine “Renee” Hebert
YARMOUTH - Laurine “Renee” Hebert, 97, died July 16, 2011 at Bay Square in Yarmouth. She was born in Guilford on March 24, 1914. She graduated from Guilford High School and the University of Southern Maine.
She began her teaching career as a high school graduate in a one room school house in Garland. By taking extension courses, she graduated with honors from the University of Southern Maine. She also taught in Dexter at Wassookeag Summer School, then in Pownal and finally in Yarmouth where she taught fifth grade for 26 years.
She was a member of the Woman’s Literary Club and the Sunshine Club in Dexter. In Yarmouth, Laurine was a member of the Fortnightly Club, Home and Garden Club, VIS, Yarmouth Public Health and the Cumberland County Retired Teachers Association. She was also a member of the First Parish Congregational Church in Yarmouth.
Laurine and Hector enjoyed their cottage in Dexter, playing tennis (she played until the age of 80), listening to jazz and traveling. She loved bridge and canoeing on Lake Wassookeag.
She is survived by her daughter, Marcia Doherty of Scarborough; two grandsons, John and his wife Jane of Cape Elizabeth; Jay and his wife Kate of South Berwick and five great-grandchildren: Jack, Owen, Anna, Egan, and Abby who will greatly miss “G.G.” She was predeceased by her parents John and Louise Willey, her husband of 62 years, Hector Hebert and her sister Ruth Rosebush.
A special thanks to her good friend Guy Savage for his friendship and companionship.
A memorial service was held on Friday, July 22nd at 11 AM at First Parish Congregational Church, 116 Main Street, Yarmouth, a reception in the church hall followed. Barbara Evans Pierce
NEWPORT & COCOA, FLORIDA - Barbara Evans Pierce, 48, died July 16th, 2011 at Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa, Florida. She was born December 18, 1962 in Berea, Ohio, a daughter of Chester and Edith (Dufault) Evans. She had lived in Florida for the last 18 years.
She is survived by a daughter, Angela Evarts; a grandson, Reece Evarts, both of Pittsfield; 2 brothers, Neil and wife Janet Evans of Burnham, and Kevin Evans of Clinton; 3 sisters, Beatrice and husband Skip Bowman of Newport, Marilyn Ouellette of Bangor, and Andrea and husband Jack Heckel of Collins, GA; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and 2 sisters, Cheryl Evans and Cynthia Kennedy.

Kathleen Joyce Clark
NEWPORT - Kathleen Joyce Clark, 82, died July 12, 2011 at a Pittsfield health care facility. She was born June 30, 1929 in Mars Hill, a daughter of Clinton and Viola (O’Donal) Lovley. After graduating from high school, she moved to Newport at a young age. Kathleen married
Hubert Clark in 1967.
She worked as a baker at the Gateway Restaurant, the Log Cabin Diner, both in Newport, and the Fairmount Restaurant in Bangor. She had also worked at several area shoe shops. She was member of Barrows-Skidgel American Legion Auxiliary. She will be remembered as a loving mother and friend.
She is survived by 6 children, Timothy of Florida, Belinda Langley of Levant, Lawrence of Pittsfield, Kevin of Garland, Kirk of Newport, and Darren Lovley of Standish; a sister, Merlene Gipson of Newport; 18 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson.

Ruth H. Chapdelaine
ST. ALBANS - Ruth Chapdelaine, age 85, died July 17, 2011 at her home in St. Albans with her son and daughter-in-law by her side. Her heart was saddened by the recent loss of her best friend and husband of 65 years, Moe Chapdelaine. She was born August 6, 1925 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. She was the daughter of Conrad and Eva (Massart) Minke. She was educated in the schools of Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Ruth and her husband Moe moved to Maine from Florida in 2010 and have resided there since that time.
She was a member of the Acecapaders Park in Lithia, FL for over 40 years. She was an active member of TOPS in FL and the Pittsfield Chapter.
Ruth is survived by her devoted son, Scott Chapdelaine and loving daughter-in-law Cindy of St. Albans, her baby brother Ernest Minke and his wife Michelle of Attleboro, MA and a special brother-in-law Roy Carlson of Sun City, FL. She was predeceased by her precious husband Moe, her parents, her dear sister Eva Carlson and her brother Harry Minke. She will be missed by her step grandchildren Scott and Deanna Pickard of Sabattus, Corey and Jessica Robbins of Palmyra and step great-grandchildren Renee and Robbie-Mike Pickard of Sabattus gave her the name “Lady Ruth” that she elegantly carried.
Friends and family are welcome to come celebrate her life Friday, July 29 from 6 to 9 PM at 106 Lovers Lane, St. Albans.
