Helen D. Jay
MILO - Helen D. Jay, 87, wife of the late Raymond Jay, passed away March 30, 2011, with loved ones by her side, at Mayo Regional Hospital, Dover-Foxcroft. She was born Oct. 24, 1923, in Monticello, the daughter of the late Melbourne and Gladys (Wade) Carmichael. Helen enjoyed cooking, playing cards, crossword puzzles, crocheting, and her family.
Helen is survived by five children, Ethel Leavitt of Pittsfield; Steven Jay and his significant other, Debbie Burns, of Brownville; Linda Haughton and her husband, Larry, of Schoodic Lake, James Jay of Milo; and Debra Moulton and her husband, Michael, of Bradford, She also leaves ten grandchildren, William Stineford and wife, Heidi; Amelia Carlos; Jerry Lynn Perkins and husband, Jason; Elaine Dunham and husband, Steven; Sherry Pennington; Christy Williams and significant other, James Hall; Billie-Jo Sickler and husband, Danny; Teri Ayer and husband, John; Michael Moulton; and Carrie Doty and husband, Robert; several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She leaves three siblings, Charles Carmichael of Monticello, Phyllis Burtt of Leicester, MA, and Vaughn Carmichael and his wife, Jean, of Spencer, MA. Helen will be greatly missed by her family and a very special companion, Harold “Bud” Leeman. She was predeceased by a sister, Ethel Carmichael and a son-in-law, Leonard Leavitt.
Graveside services in Evergreen cemetery, Milo, will be held later in the spring. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
Everett L. White
BANGOR - Master Sgt. Everett L. White, U.S. Air Force, retired, 84, passed away March 3, 2011. He was born Nov. 19, 1926, in Berlin, N.H., the son of Stewart and Evelyn (Willey) White. Everett enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and became an aviation radioman and aviation gunner. He served in VPB-61 in the North Pacific. Everett served in the Navy until 1948, when he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as an air traffic controller. Everett served in Newfoundland during the Berlin airlift and in the South Pacific on Kwajalein Island, controlling aircraft for the A-bomb test. He also served in Germany for three years and retired from the Air Force at Dow Air Force base in 1965 as master sergeant air traffic control supervisor. After retiring from the Air Force, Everett went into business with his family as a service station operator. Later he and his son, Pat, had a used car business and a general store with food takeout in Palmyra. Everett also worked at Sullivan Ford as a sales manager and as a salesman for Rapaport Auto and Village Subaru. After retiring from Village Subaru, he was the bus driver for Sunbury Village until he had to retire due to health reasons. Everett really enjoyed ice fishing, especially at Moosehead Lake, and hunting in Palmyra with his family. He felt very fortunate to have gone on five moose hunts with his family. Everett is survived by his wife of 26 years, Lucile (Herrick) White of Bangor; three sons, J. Patrick White of Palmyra, Stewart C. White and his wife, Lorena, of New Vineyard and James D. White and his wife, Victoria, of Jay; one daughter, Susan A. Baker and her husband, William, of Bangor; one stepson, David F. Murch and his wife, Anne-Marie, of Raymond; daughter-in-law, Laurel White of Newburgh; the mother of his children, Cecile White of Bangor; three brothers, Richard of Cascade, N.H., Elmont of Dallas, Ga., and James and his wife, Carol, of Lawrenceville, Ga.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Elaine and Ralph Stevens of South Berwick; 10 grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Stewart; two sisters, Margaret and Diane; and his loving son, John, in 1990. A service was held noon Wednesday, March 9, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Interment will be in the spring at Maine Veterans Memorial cemetery, Augusta. Gifts in his memory may be sent to Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mount Hope Ave., Bangor, ME 04401.
Douglas R. Batchelder
VASSALBORO - Douglas R. Batchelder, 1955-2011, of Vassalboro passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at home with his loving companion Liz by his side.
He was born in Dexter on April 9, 1955 the son of Roland F. and Joyce (Smith) Rumery.
Douglas attended schools in Dexter. He spent over 30 years living and enjoying life in Vassalboro.
Douglas was a jack of all trades and could fix just about anything. He was a woodsman, could clean and repair chimneys, was a good carpenter and woodworker, and was a talented automobile mechanic.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, four wheeling, and most of all family cookouts. Douglas was a loving son, father, grandfather, and companion who will be greatly missed.
He was predeceased by his father; his half brother, Forest Rumery; and a best friend for 11 years, his loving dog Harley.
Douglas will be sadly missed by his mother, Joyce Podziak and her husband, Peter of Newport; his daughters, Danielle Batchelder and her fiancé, Peter Tsoukalas of Oakland, and Lolly Armstrong of Florida; his companion, Elizabeth Valliere of Vassalboro; his sisters, Deborah Briggs of Dover, and Lorrell Frost of Dexter; his grandchildren, Gavin, Jayson, Alex, Sadie, JJ, Amanda, Natasha, and K.P.; several nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.
Services will be announced at a later date.

Maria E. Pease
PITTSFIELD - Maria E. Pease left her family and friends of Sebasticook Valley Heath Care to be with God on March 1, 2011.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew her and took care of her. She was a lifetime resident of Sebasticook Valley Health Care, where she was loved by all the wonderful and caring staff that took care of her everyday.
Maria was predeceased by Virginia Keirstead and George Pease of Detroit.
Surviving family members include Vicci Nelson and Rebecca Irish of St. Joseph, Mo., Dale Dubey and Angela Pasch of Platte City, Mo., Verna Pease of Detroit, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be scheduled in the spring.

Judith Ann Chandler Speaker Williams
NEWPORT - Judith Ann Chandler Speaker Williams, 54, passed away February 21, 2011 after a long battle with diabetes at a Bangor hospital with her husband by her side. She was born April 22, 1956 in Dover-Foxcroft, a daughter of Hadley and Doris (Cronan) Chandler.
Judy was a graduate of Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield, Class of 1974 and attended Thomas College in Waterville. She was an avid gardener, quilter, and homemaker. Judy loved to shop and cook and entertain guests at her home in Newport. She enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends.
She was a former member of the Sebasticook Garden Club.
In addition to her parents, she leaves behind her loving husband of 22 years, David Williams, Sr.; 2 brothers, Steven Chandler, and Jeff and wife Laurie Chandler; sister-in-law Eva Chandler; beloved daughter Jaclyn and husband Max Fish; beloved son Gavin and wife Mary Speaker; son David and wife Ruth Williams; daughter Amanda Williams; grandchildren, Addison and Landon Fish and Ella Williams; several nieces and nephews; numerous friends and family.
Friends called from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 PM Thursday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services were held at 1 PM Friday, February 25th. A spring burial and committal service will be held 11 AM Friday, May 6th at the North Newport cemetery.
Hilma (Smith) Knowles
CORINNA - Hilma S. Knowles, 90, died February 21, 2011, surrounded by her children at a Bangor health care facility. She was born May 11, 1920 in Corinna, a daughter of Donald and Ethelyn (Skinner) Smith. She was a graduate of the Corinna Union Academy, Class of 1939. Hilma was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a homemaker and child care provider for many years and later had been employed at Eastland Woolen Mill.
Hilma was a member of the Happy Hour Club and the area Hospital Chaplaincy. She was an active member of the Pleasant Street Christian Church where she served for many years as the assistant treasurer, as well as taught Sunday School, Bible School, and participated in youth groups. She enjoyed playing miniature golf and outings with her friends.
She is survived by 3 sons, Dennis and wife Penny Knowles of Sanford, Ralph and wife Kathie Knowles of Palmyra, and Larry Knowles of Plano, TX; a daughter, Elaine and husband Donald Knowles of Bangor; a brother Donald “Malcolm” and wife Barbara Smith of Gorham; 9 grandchildren, Denise and husband Norman Butler, Stephen and wife Amy Knowles, Kristie and husband David Jandreau, Craig Knowles, Marla and husband Steven Scott, Brett Knowles, Valerie Knowles, Todd and wife Virginia Berry, and Jaime and husband Richard Stevens; 8 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 47 years, Thurlow Knowles, in 1987; 2 brothers Dean and Glenn Smith; and 2 sisters Athalie and Gwendolyn. Funeral services were held at 11 AM on Friday, February 25th, at Crosby & Neal Chapel, 68 Exeter Road, Corinna, with Rev. Edward Jaworski officiating. Friends called at the chapel from 10 AM until the time of services. Spring burial will be in the Morse’s Corner cemetery, Corinna. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pleasant Street Christian Church Mission Fund, 29 St. Albans Road, Corinna, ME 04928 or to the charity of one’s choice.
Tyler Michael Seaney
BELFAST and GLENBURN - Tyler Michael Seaney, 19, with his infectious smile and charm in tow, left this world Saturday, February 19th, 2011, to join those who loved him and passed before him. Tyler was born July 7, 1991, to Rhonda and Darren Seaney. He grew up and attended Belfast schools and graduated from Belfast High School in 2007. He was awaiting departure for boot camp with the U.S. Army for the opportunity to serve his country, which he did so with great pride and anticipation. With the ability to turn the biggest frown upside down, Tyler enjoyed music, cooking, hanging out with his friends and making people laugh. In addition to his parents, Tyler leaves behind his beloved brother, Christopher; a sister and guiding light, Ashley; a stepmom, Autumn; grandparents, Joanne "Nanny" and Roger Whitney of Corinna; grandmother, Estelle Harriman of Glenburn, whom he lived with and adored; several aunts, uncles and cousins who will miss him dearly; and his love, Whitney Canfield. He was predeceased by grandfathers, Darrell Seaney of Corinna and Richard A. Harriman of Glenburn, one of his greatest heroes. Services were held 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, February 26th, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, Belfast. The family invited friends to join in the celebration of life service. Remember him for all he was. The way he was always there when we were feeling down. Remember him for his laugh, his smile and his personality. Remember him for the man he was.
Everett P. Underhill, Sr.
STETSON - Everett P. Underhill, Sr., 79, died November 1, 2011 at his residence with his family at his side. He was born November 22, 1931 in Newport, a son of William and Erma (Savage) Underhill. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Corinna Post #73 American Legion for more than 50 years.
Everett was a self-employed cattle dealer. He had been vice president for the Maine Draft Horse and Ox Association and chairman of the State of Maine Pulling Commission.
Everett is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kathleen “Kay” Underhill of Stetson; a daughter, Lois Hawes and husband Wayne of Stetson; 2 sons, Junior Underhill and wife Sheila and Willie Underhill and wife Rhoda, all of Stetson; a brother, Ralph Underhill and wife Nancy of Newport; a sister, Jane Sherry and husband Mike of Stetson; 4 granddaughters, Dennell, Deanna, Terri and Traci; 3 grandsons, Joshua, Chris and Tony; 2 great grandsons, Kyle and Dylan; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Arthur Underhill.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM on Friday, November 4th at the Charleston Pentecostal Church, 185 Main Street, Charleston, where funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday with Deacon Dalton Dunfee and the Rev. Matthew Ward officiating. Burial will be in the Clark’s Hill cemetery, Stetson. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
John “Jack” J. Connors, Jr.
PLYMOUTH - John “Jack” J. Connors, Jr. 75, died November 1, 2011 at his home with his family at his side after a short battle with cancer. He was born November 21, 1935 in Wakefield, MA, a son of John and Florence (Davis) Connors, Sr. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany for two years.
John moved from Charlestown, MA to Maine with his family in 1988. He loved bargain hunting and reselling. For a short time, he had his own shop, “Wise Buys”, an antique and ‘what not’ shop. He worked at several trucking companies in Massachusetts. Jack also enjoyed working the odds in the lottery.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Ann (Benoit) Connors of Plymouth; a son, Lt. Eric Connors of Minot, ND; 4 brothers, Thomas of Mississippi, James of Middleboro, MA, Donald of Medford, MA, and Freddie of NH; 5 sisters, Norah Maimone of Swansea, MA, Sydney DiMartino of Springfield, MA, Patricia Donahue of FL, Barbara Courtney of Arundel, and Florence Bartles of Everett, MA; many nieces and nephews, including two special nieces, Pauline McLaughlin and Patsy Gould. He was predeceased by his father; his step-father and mother, Thomas and Florence Kennedy; and 2 sisters, Effie Aldrich and Helen Driscoll.

Cheryl Lynn Davis
CAMBRIDGE - Cheryl Lynn Davis, 44, died peacefully October 23, 2011 in Bangor, surrounded by family members. She was born January 2, 1967 in Hartland to Donald and Jeanette (Hall) Davis.
Cheryl spent many years as a CNA in southern Maine before returning to her hometown of Cambridge, where she enjoyed gardening and watching the birds and wildlife around her always spotless home.
Cheryl is survived by her mother and stepdad, Jeanette and Stephen Hall of Guilford; a son, Dustin Schildroth of Hollis; a sister, Karen and her husband Jon and children Jacquelyn, Joseph, and Joshua, of Hebron, CT; a brother, Donald Davis and his wife, Judi of Newport and her children Brad and Nick Norris, and Andrew and Adam Pierce; a half brother, Derick Davis and his wife Whitney of VA; stepbrothers, Stephen D. Hall of Winslow, Rodrick Hall of Guilford, Galen Hall of Dayton, and their families. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her father in 1986 and her Davis and Hall grandparents.
Friends called from 6 to 8 PM, Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Crosby & Neal, 21 Oak Street, Guilford.
A graveside service was held at 10 AM, Wednesday, at the Elmwood cemetery in Guilford.

Lois Beverly Braley
PITTSFIELD - Lois Beverly Braley, 83, died October 25, 2011 at a Bangor hospital following a short illness. She was born February 6, 1928, in Pittsfield, daughter of Joseph and Erma (Sinclair) Seekins.
She graduated from Hartland Academy class of 1946, and worked for many years for Edwards Company in Pittsfield. Lois was a long time member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Pittsfield where she played the organ for over 30 years. She enjoyed playing the part of family photographer at all of the family gatherings and was known for her knowledge of the family history.
She was predeceased by her husband, Glyndon B. Braley, Jr.
She is survived by 2 sons, J. Michael Braley and his companion, Marsha Ballard of Pittsfield, and Scott Braley of Palmyra; 2 sisters, Janet Stedman and her husband, Vaughn of Hartland, and Joann Woodman of St. Albans; a granddaughter, Taryn Ann Murray and her husband, James, and their children, Jakob and Jayda; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held 1 PM, Saturday, October 29th, 2011, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Pittsfield, with Pastor Scott Millett officiating. Friends called from noon until the time of the service. Burial was in the Pittsfield Village cemetery.
