Bernard C. Lord
CORINNA - Bernard Lord, 80, died September 15, 2010 at his residence. He was born April 8, 1930 in Dexter a son of Clarence and Marion (Macomber) Lord. He graduated from N. H. Fay High School and served in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Dexter Shoe Company after working there for many years.
He and his late wife, Helen (Hall) Lord, spent many years happily married
, enjoying hunting, fishing and camping trips with family and friends. They especially enjoyed their camp on Kingsbury Pond. Helen predeceased him September 24, 1996.
Bernard is survived by a son, David Lord of Bangor; 2 daughters, Rebecca and her significant other, Stephen Brown of Corinna, and Nancy and husband Gary Ernst of Nova Scotia. He will also be sadly missed by his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Francis and wife Joanne Lord of Nashua, NH; and by his sister, Barbara Plant of Universal City, Texas.
In addition to his wife, he was also predeceased by his sisters, Pauline Tompkins, and Maxine Thompson.

Mildred J. (Stackpole) Wyman
PALMYRA - Mildred J. (Stackpole) Wyman passed away on September 13, 2010, at her home after a long battle with ovarian cancer.
She was born in Newport, Maine, on August 26, 1935, the daughter of the late John and Willadene Stackpole. Mildred graduated from Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield, with the Class of 1953. She was employed by MSAD #53 in the Food Service Department for over 30 years. After retiring she began volunteering at the Pennywise Thrift Shop where she spent many hours sorting and distributing clothes in Pittsfield and the surrounding area. She also was an active member of the First Congregational Church in Pittsfield where her pies were a favorite by everyone who attended the many public suppers she helped to put on. She always thought of others and would do anything for her friends and family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Mildred will be sadly missed by her husband of 55 years, Alvah Wyman; her daughters, who were so fortunate to have such a special mother, Lisa Wyman Allen and her husband, Ronald, of Raleigh, North Carolina and Lori Wyman Glidden and her husband, Chuck, of Pittsfield; her grandchildren, who adored her, Chris Allen and his wife, Cindy, of Raleigh, North Carolina, Shelley Dixon and her husband, Bradley, of Roanoke, North Carolina, Joshua, Benjamin and Matthew Glidden, all of Pittsfield; and her brother, Gilbert Stackpole of Waterville. She also will be missed by her many close friends who were so supportive during her illness.
She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Martin Stackpole.
A memorial service will be held at 12 noon, on Monday, September 20, 2010, at the First Congregational Church, Somerset Avenue, in Pittsfield, with the Rev. Robert Carlson officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the Memorial Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Congregational Church Memorial Fund, PO Box 423, Pittsfield, Maine, 04967, in Millie’s memory to benefit the Pennywise Building Fund.
Care for the family has been provided by Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, Pittsfield.
Gladys G. Cookson
PITTSFIELD - Gladys G. Cookson, 87, died peacefully, on Tuesday, September 07, 2010, in Pittsfield.
She was born on September 16, 1922, in Pittsfield, the daughter of Jerome and Lettie (Brooks) Gould. She was educated in local schools and graduated from Maine Central Institute with the class of 1941. She married
Norman R. Cookson on December 27, 1941.
Gladys was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. This was evident by the loving attention to detail she showed in caring for them. Among her many talents, she was a gifted seamstress and cook. Some of her hobbies included shopping, collecting fine things, berry picking with her grandchildren, solving crossword puzzles and making fine clothes. Gladys and Norman loved dancing together and spent 45 years of Saturday evenings traveling throughout Maine enjoying the local dance halls. She lived her life for her family and will be truly missed.
She is survived by her two sons; Wayne Cookson of Boca Raton, Florida and Craig Cookson of Jackson; 4 granddaughters, Jennifer Wells and her fiancé, Conn Davidenko, of Canton, Georgia, Kimberly Duncombe and her husband, David, of Pittsfield, Amanda Booker and her husband, Joshua, of Rockport and Nicole Cookson and her fiancé, Andrew Peters, of Fishers, Indiana; and 8 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Norman R. Cookson in 1988; and her 5 siblings, Helen, Arnold, Ethel, Freda and Evelyn.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday, September 9th, 2010, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield. A funeral service took place at 11 AM, Friday, September 10, 2010, at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Johnson officiating. Interment immediately followed at the Village cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, Pittsfield.

Francis E. Kent
DETROIT - Francis Eugene Kent, 81, died September 7, 2010 at his residence. He was born January 10, 1929 in Ipswich, MA, a son of Reginald and Edith Kent.
Francis will be remembered by his family and friends as a hard worker. After retiring, he moved from Massachusetts to Maine.
He is survived by 4 sons, Richard and wife Anne of MA, Charles and wife Nancy of VT, Brian and wife Anne, and Dennis and wife June, all of Corinna; 3 daughters, Beverly and husband Ed Cassell of NH, Marie and husband Phil DeBrosse of GA, and Sandra Cromeenes of Troy; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife Pearl (Stevenson) on May 27, 2009, and by a grandson, Brian E. Kent on March 9, 1998.
At his request, there will be no services at this time. Cremation arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
Howard R. Larrabee, Sr.
Pittsfield - Howard R. Larrabee, Sr., 80, died August 24, 2010. He was born May 14, 1930 in Portland, a son of George and Lillian (McGowan) Larrabee. During the Korean War he served as a corporal in the U.S. Air Force. He married
the former Evelyn Blanchard on April 18, 1953. Howard was a devoted member and elder at the Pittsfield congregation, Jehovah’s Witnesses. At the time of his death he was the congregational ministerial servant.
In addition to his wife of Pittsfield, he is survived by 3 sons, Larry and wife Diane of Florida, Howard, Jr. and wife Virginia of Parkman, Michael and wife Star of Bucksport; 3 daughters, Carol Marie Ouellette and husband Daniel of Haverhill, MA, Jean Marie Perkins and husband Nathan of Baldwin, Linda Scott and husband Ralph of Benton; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, August 28th at 3 PM at the Pittsfield Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Routes 100 and 11, (North Main Street), Pittsfield. He believed that all those who died were asleep in death. Now Howard sleeps until the fulfillment of John 5:28 and 29 “Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out”. We all await that time! He touched the lives of so very many and will remain in ever so many hearts.

Kevin L. Tozier
NEWPORT - Kevin L. Tozier, 55, died August 20, 2010 at a Pittsfield hospital after a short but valiant battle with cancer. He was born June 14, 1955 in Lincoln, a son of Claude and Muriel (Chase) Tozier II.
Kevin graduated from Nokomis Regional High and worked as a mechanic at T&W Garage on Elm Street in Newport. At the time of his death, he co-owned the business with his wife Carol and brother Michael.
He will be remembered as a wonderful person who put everyone else ahead of himself. His hobbies included golfing, traveling, remote controlled cars and airplanes, and woodworking. He will also be remembered for the many hope chests, rolling pins, and other items he made for friends and family.
Kevin loved to go 4-wheeling and also loved to show off and operate his tow trucks. He will be remembered by those who love him as their “MacGyver”. He is survived by his wife Carol (Morton) Tozier of Newport; 2 daughters Lisa Tozier of Malden, MA, Heather Tozier of Palmyra; 4 brothers, Claude Tozier III of Canaan, Reginald and wife Stacey Tozier of Portland, TN, Kim and wife Julie Tozier of Passadumkeag; and Michael and wife Jodi Tozier of Newport; 2 sisters, Patricia and husband Danny Sprague of Charleston, and Margaret Parker of Stetson; 3 grandchildren, Rachael and Austin Tozier and Xavier Rowe; a number of nieces, nephews, many, many special friends, and loyal and loved employees.
A celebration of his life was held at 6 PM, Thursday, August 26th, at the Barrows-Skidgel American Legion Hall, North Street, Newport. Cremation arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.

Betty Lou Morrison
Palmyra - Born in Pittsfield, August 15, 1937 to Arthur and Gertrude Grignon, Betty Lou Morrison, 73 of Palmyra was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 20, 2010. She will be missed very much by all who knew her throughout her life.
She was a trained stitcher at Dexter Shoe for years. She loved to fish (catch not eat). She traveled and she went back to school and got her GED at the age of 58. She was a volunteer at Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield in the late 90's.
Betty is survived by her two daughters: Arlene J. Kennedy of Waterville and Lorraine L. Smith and husband Dale D. of Palmyra; several brothers and sisters and a lot of nieces and nephews and brother-in-law, Ray Morrison of Augusta.
To her sister who gave her a favorite flower, the one rose a week, Thank you. Thank you to our Aunts and Uncles for the love, prayers, and support you gave us. Thank you to the People's United Methodist Church of Newport who sent her cards every week, and a very special thanks to everyone at Maine General HealthReach Hospice for the respect and love they showed our mother. A private gathering will be held at the convenience of the family. At Betty’s request there will be no funeral or visitation hours.

John R. Sheldon
PALMYRA - John “Ronnie” R. Sheldon, 76, passed away August 14, 2010 at the Maine Veterans Home in Bangor from complications from surgery. He was born April 19, 1934 in Manchester, NH, a son of Howard and Mary Ethel (MacDonald) Sheldon.
On September 3, 1955 he married
Janice Palmer in Palmyra. Other than a brief tour of service with the U.S. Army in Germany, he lived most of his adult life in Palmyra. He enjoyed working on automobiles, carpentry, and sports. John was employed at Irving Tanning in Hartland, retiring in 1997. While enjoying a leisurely retirement, he was a grounds keeper for the Palmyra Golf Course and a banquet attendant for the Ramada Inn. In 2004, he was forced to retire a second time with the discovery of lung cancer, which he successfully conquered.
John is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Janice of Palmyra; his eldest daughter Melanie and her husband Daniel Becht of Broomfield, CO and his youngest daughter Beckie Sheldon of Palmyra; 2 older siblings Leon “Buzz” and his wife Betty Sheldon of Milbrae, CA, Elizabeth Lovering of York, and a younger half-sibling Carol Leary of St. Petersburg, FL; 2 brothers-in-law and their wives, Lloyd and Marie Palmer of Columbus, OH and Vern and Mary Palmer of Newport; several nieces and nephews.
A military graveside committal service was held 10 A.M. Friday, August 20th at the Maine Veterans Memorial cemetery, with the Rev. William Johnson officiating. A memorial service was held at 11:30 AM following the committal at the Pittsfield First Baptist Church in the downstairs meeting room. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
Robert E. Cox
NEWPORT - Robert “Bob” Cox, 76, died February 9, 2011 at a Pittsfield hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 2, 1934 in Orrington, a son of Walter and Mary Louise (Tardiff) Cox.
Bob graduated from John Bapst High School, Class of 1952; served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War; attended the University of Maine; and graduated from the University of Maine School of Law, Class of 1962. Bob lived and practiced law in Newport for over 40 years. He served on the Newport Board of Selectmen and Newport School Board. He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus, Bangor Elks and Newport Kiwanis. Maxine and Bob wintered in Zephyrhills, Florida and enjoyed summertime at Oak Pond in Skowhegan. Bob enjoyed traveling the rural roads of Maine and often took the “back way” to visit friends and family.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Maxine (Dillingham) Cox; his children, Anne Marie Johnson and companion Rodney Rush of Pittston, Jane and husband Rick Varney, Charles Cox and wife Ellen, all of Bangor, Carol and husband Mark Kontos of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, Robert Cox, Jr. and wife Linda of Canterbury, CT; step-children, Hal and wife Marilee Clark of Portsmouth, NH, and Sue Norris of Palmyra; a brother, Walter and wife Patricia Cox of Hesperia, California; a sister, Mary Lou and husband Ray Cormier of Castine; 14 grandchildren, Nicholas, Whittney and Emmaline Varney, Katie Sino and husband Erald, William, Rose, Victoria and Rebecca Cox, Jordan and Karly Kontos, Hazen Clark and wife Alicia, Darrin Clark, Garth and Tyler Norris; and a special great granddaughter, Dora Clark; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his ‘third son’ his son in law, Stanley Norris and by 11 siblings, Mary, Francis, Jacqueline, George, Floyd, Lloyd, Ronald, Margaret, John, William, and David.
Friends called from 6 to 8 PM on Monday, February 14th, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 2 PM on Tuesday, February 15th, at St. Agnes Church, 238 Detroit Avenue, Pittsfield, with Father Kent Ouellette officiating. Spring burial will be in Riverside cemetery, Newport.

Maurice L. Chapdelaine
St. Albans - Maurice “Moe” L. Chapdelaine, age 86, died February 15, 2011 at his home in St. Albans with his family by his side. He was born in Pawtucket, RI. October 9, 1924 the son of Arthur and Maria (Ledoux) Chapdelaine. He was educated in the schools of Pawtucket, RI and was a veteran of WWII serving in the US. Army. After the war he married
Ruth Minke March 26, 1946 in Attleboro, MA. and worked at Texas Instruments in Attleboro, MA. for over 35 years retiring in 1986. Moe and his wife Ruth moved to Maine from Florida in 2010 and have resided there since that time.
He was a member of the Acecapders Park in Lithia FL. for over 40 years. Moe loved to cook, ball room dance and big band dance, time and time again. He also enjoyed woodworking, car detailing and was a perfectionist at it and everything he did in life.
Moe is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Ruth Chapdelaine of St. Albans, Maine; a devoted son, Scott Chapdelaine and special daughter-in-law, Cindy Chapdelaine both of St. Albans, ME. He was predeceased by his parents, 2 sisters, (including his twin) and 2 brothers in the 1940’s.
