April Drysdale
ELIOT - April Marie Drysdale, 22, of State Road in Eliot, died suddenly on Sept. 30, 2004 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
She was born on May 1, 1982, a daughter of Wade V. and Karen M. (Lovejoy) Drysdale, she graduated from Marshwood High School with the class of 2001.
She enjoyed camping, weekends at Jonesport and Cape Split with cousins Louis and Heidi. She enjoyed going out with friends dancing, movies, and dinner. She loved hanging out with Shannon, Jen, and Randy, and the special times she shared with Brandy. She shared an indescribable bond with her sister Melissa, they loved to be together taking their dogs Lily and Alvin for walks and swims at the beach, going shopping, out to dinner, and trips to Six Flags. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her including her parents Wade and Karen Drysdale of Eliot; one sister, Melissa of Eliot; grandparents, Everett and Jane Lovejoy of Kittery, Donna and Joe Dall of North Hampton and Jack and Sumi Drysdale of San Antonio, Texas; aunts and uncles Nancy and Eddie LeClair, Linda and Bryan Baker, Christine Anderson, John Lovejoy and Thomas Lovejoy; many cousins; and her great aunts and uncles Sonny and Cindy Boyd, Debbie and Gary Kuhn, Pamela Downs, Mary Messer and Sharon and Bob Abrams.
A funeral was held on Tuesday at the First Congregational Church in Eliot.
Family flowers only; donations may be made in her memory to the New Hampshire SPCA, 104 Portsmouth Ave., Stratham NH 03885.

Donna Trude
WEST KENNEBUNK - Donna Lynn Trude, 46, of 24 Coyne-McKay La., died Dec. 4, 2004 after a long illness surrounded by family at Southern Maine Medical Center.
She was born in Gardner, Mass., a daughter of George and Norma (LeBlanc) Lawrence. She moved to Maine in 1967 with her family and graduated from Kennebunk High School in 1976.
She worked at Morningstar, William Arthur, NCS Pharmacy, and Rite-Aid Pharmacy in Saco and Kennebunk for many years. In her free time she enjoyed fishing, gardening, animals, puzzles and word games. She also collected Native American artifacts. She was a loving mother and wife who enjoyed helping people and always put the feelings of others before her own.
She is predeceased by her father George Lawrence and by her brother James Lawrence.
She is survived by her husband Wayne Trude Jr.; one son, Nathan Younger and fiancˇe Jessica Ellis of Biddeford; one stepson, Owen Trude and wife Jeremie of Maryland; one daughter, Angela Houde and husband Brian of Arundel; her mother, Norma Lawrence of Kennebunk; father-in-law Wayne Trude Sr. of West Kennebunk; one brother, William Lawrence and wife Diane of Lyman; two sisters, Linda Frederick and husband William of Sanford, and Susan Cole of Alfred; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk, where a memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Ron Walton officiating.

Thomas James Maling
BIDDEFORD - Thomas James Maling, newborn son of Nathaniel Dwight and Cynthia Ann (Juarez) Maling, passed Nov. 24, 2004 in Pensacola, Fla.
Surviving are his parents of Navarre, Fla.; maternal grandfather, Oscar Juarez and his wife Esmeralda of Kingsville, Texas; maternal grandmother, Irma Garza and her husband Eleodoro of Buda, Texas; paternal grandparents, Ernest W. and Thelma M. Maling of Wells; maternal great-grandparents, Maria Z. Juarez of Robstown, Texas and Agapito Molina of Banquete, Texas; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A funeral service was held Tuesday at Hope Memorial Chapel, Biddeford. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery in Kennebunk.
Ruth Matthews
NORTH BERWICK - Ruth H. Matthews, 86, of Old County Road, passed away Dec. 2, 2004 at her residence after a battle with cancer.
She was born in North Berwick, Aug. 5, 1918, the daughter of Clyde B. and Helen (Hayes) Staples. She was a 1936 graduate of North Berwick High School.
She had worked for Cressey's Drugstore in North Berwick for many years.
She was a past president of the Madisses Club in North Berwick. She was also an avid golfer and a member of the Southern Maine Women's Golf Association of Sanford for 17 years.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Kendrick Matthews and a brother, Clyde B. Staples Jr. Surviving are one son, Michael K. Matthews and one granddaughter, Kasey Lee Matthews, both of West Virginia; one brother, Ralph E. Staples of Keene, N.H.; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Steves of North Berwick; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Tuesday in the Hillside cemetery in North Berwick.

John O'Brien
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - John W. O'Brien of West Palm Beach, Fla., formerly of Ogunquit, Maine, passed away at Hospice of Palm Beach County on Dec. 3, 2004.
He was born in Melrose, Mass. on Feb. 10, 1932 to Victoria and John O'Brien. He graduated from Suffolk University and retired from Digital Equipment Corporation as corporate human resource manager.
Survivors include a loving wife of 46 years, Rosemary F. O'Brien and his five children, Gilbert of Stratham N.H., Joseph of Wells, Kathleen Thornton of York, Christopher of Santa Barbara, Calif., and David of York; eight grandchildren, Marc, Amy, Josh, Shaun, Conor, Megan, Tyler, and Emily; two brothers, Edward of Wakefield, Mass., and Michael of Marathon, Fla.; one sister, Joanne Murphy of Peabody, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 9:30 a.m. in Saint Christopher's Church, York Street, York. Internment will be in First Parish Cemetery. Family and friends may call at Lucas Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Rd., York today from 6-8 p.m.
Louis MacDonald
KENNEBUNK - Louis C. "Mac" MacDonald, 87, a long-time resident of Wakefield Road died Dec. 1, 2004 at the Maine Medical Center, Portland after a brief illness.
He was born in Calais on June 29, 1917, son of Louis P. and Josephine (Fitzsimmons) MacDonald and attended Augusta schools.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was employed by the Western Union for many years retiring in 1970, then he moved to Kennebunk where he was employed by the Kennebunk Police Department as dispatcher, reserved police officer, school-crossing guard, dog catcher and summer crossing guard on Main Street for many years.
One of his great enjoyments was the ham radio.
He was predeceased by his parents, his two brothers Lloyd and Donald MacDonald.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Olea Ruth MacDonald of Kennebunk; one son, Donald MacDonald of Tyler, Texas; two daughters Joanne M. Stuart of Kennebunk and Andrea McDonald of Citrus Heights, Calif.; one sister, Jean Knox of Randolph, Maine; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and his special dog "Buddy."
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Wells Branch Baptist Church, Wells and Interment was in Stuart Private Cemetery, Kennebunk.

Mary Davis
YORK - Mary (McIntire) Davis, 88, a lifelong York resident died Dec. 7, 2004 at her home.
She was born in York on March 23, 1916, the daughter of Malcolm and Marion (Bragdon) McIntire. Proud of her Scottish heritage, she was an eighth-generation descendent of Micum McIntire, one of the earliest settlers of York. At the time of her death she owned and maintained the McIntire Garrison House, a designated National Historic Landmark and thought to be the oldest building in Maine.
She was a 1933 graduate of York High School and a 1937 graduate of Wheaton College. Following graduation from college, she taught at Beaver Country Day School in Chestnut Hill, Mass. In 1938 she married Robert Marshall Davis of Saco, who predeceased her in 1995.
A woman of deep faith, she was an active member of the First Parish Church in York, where she served for many years as a deaconess, member of the church choir, the Women's Fellowship, the King's Daughters, and the Missionary Club. She also served on various committees of the Old York Historical Society, Historic Landmarks of York, Old York Garden Club, and the York Public Library Association. She was an active volunteer for the York Hospital where she served on the Women's Committee and was one of several women who organized and administered the Candy Striper program at the hospital.
She was conservation minded. In 1988 she was recognized by the state of Maine as a recipient of the Maine Critical Areas Award. In 1988 she entered into a conservation easement with the York Land Trust for a significant piece of family owned land at the headwaters of the York River and in 2004 she arranged for the transfer of 300 acres of undeveloped family land as part of the Mount Agamenticus to the Sea project spearheaded by The Nature Conservancy, York Land Trust and Great Works Land Trust. This land will remain forever wild and be known at the McIntire Highlands Preserve.
She is survived by three sons, Robert M. Davis and his wife Michele of Kennebunk, Daniel B. Davis and James R. Davis of Yardley, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Catharine Ellingsen of Scottsdale, Ariz., Robert Davis of Kennebunk, Carrie Diamond of Brooklyn, N.Y., Sarah Patch of York, Micum Davis of Portsmouth, N.H., Kathryn Mahoney of Alexandria, Va. and Margaret Davis of Brighton, Mass.; seven great-grandchildren; many friends; and a staff of dedicated care-givers.
A memorial service will be held in the First Parish Church in York in the spring. Burial will be private in the First Parish cemetery in York.

Ralph Fraser
OGUNQUIT - Ralph David Fraser, 76, of Ogunquit, died Dec. 6, 2004 at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Cambridge, Mass. and lived most of his life in Boston, Mass. before retiring to Ogunquit. Beloved son of the late Annis M. (Small) Fraser and Charles J. Fraser Sr.
He is survived by one devoted brother, Charles J. Fraser Jr. and his wife Alice M. Fraser of Marlborough, Mass. and their two children; one uncle, Joseph D. Fraser of Arlington, Mass.; and numerous cousins.
He worked in the family business, Fraser & Walker of Brookline, Mass. and later as a real estate broker for a Hunneman Agency and other Boston real estate agencies besides apartment management. He was a frequent visitor to the Ogunquit area for most of his life and retired there about 14 years ago. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Per his request, there will be no viewing or memorial service and Interment will be private.

Anne Gallagher
MANCHESTER, N.H. - Anne (Campbell) McManus Gallagher died Dec. 4, 2004 at Courville Nursing Home in Manchester after a long illness.
She was born on June 21, 1926 in Jamaica Plain, Mass., the daughter of George and Laura (Boufford) Campbell. She lived in Wells Beach, Maine and Manchester, N.H. most of her life.
She leaves behind eight children, Mrs. Jerry (Nancy) Fields of Columbia, Mo., Mrs. John (Laura) Murphy of Auburn, N.H., Mrs. Steve (Mary) Lesniak of Manchester, N.H., Mrs. Paul (Betty) Rich of Manchester, N.H., Bernard McManus of Manchester, N.H., John McManus of Candia, N.H., Ms. Ellen Weist of Plymouth, Ind. and Mrs. Steve (Diane) Chase of Wells; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Peter Campbell of Sebago Lake; one sister, Mrs. Harold (Jeanette) McGilvray of Tampa, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the granddaughter of Joseph Nazaire Boufford, the founder of J.N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home.
In her life her parents, husband Bernard McManus and Thomas Gallagher, two sisters, Alida Mahon and Priscilla Tucker, two brothers, George and James Campbell predeceased her in death.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at J.N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St. Burial will be at Mount Benedict cemetery in West Roxbury, Mass. at 2:30 p.m.

Katherine Harman
WELLS - Katherine M. (Murphy) Harman, 54, of Moody, formerly of Milford, died Dec. 1, 2004 in York Hospital, York. She was the wife of Charles Harman.
She was born in Cambridge, daughter of the late Patrick and Mildred (O'Connell) Murphy. She had been employed by John Hancock Financial Services in Boston as a supervisor of retirement plans. She retired from there in 2000.
She was a member of Quinaubaquin Chapter Order of the Eastern Star in Medway and had served as Worthy Matron for that chapter. She also served as the Grand Chapter of Massachusetts Eastern Star as representative to the Grand Chapter of Eastern Star of Idaho.
In addition to her husband she is survived by one brother, Patrick Murphy of Burlington, Vt.; one sister, Maureen Degelan of Londonderry, N.H.
The funeral was held Monday in the Watson Colonial Funeral Home, Milford. Burial followed in Vernon Grove Cemetery.

Nancy Heath
KENNEBUNK - Nancy (Graham) Heath of Kennebunk, died Dec. 3, 2004 after a two-year battle with cancer.
Born in Batavia, N.Y. on May 13, 1929, she was the daughter of John and Isabelle Graham of LeRoy, N.Y. She graduated from LeRoy High School in LeRoy, N.Y. in 1947 and was a member of the All State Choir. She attended Buffalo State Teachers' College.
She and her family moved to York, Pa. In 1964 where she worked in the jewelry business. She moved to Kennebunk 18 years ago and was employed by the Shawmut Inn, Kennebunkport as a front desk manager. She also worked for the Nonantum Resort. Most recently she worked as the shop manager for the Brick Store Museum.
She is predeceased by her husband, William Holcolm Heath, and infant daughter Carol Lucinda Grayson, and a son, Arthur Francis Grayson.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Ellen Frey of York, Pa.; one daughter, Nancy Ames and her husband Timothy of Kennebunkport; four grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth (Lisa) Frey and Andrew Whitely Frey of York, Pa., T. Christian Ames and Nicholas W. Ames of Kennebunkport; two brothers, Jack Graham and his wife Marty of Avon, N.Y. and David Graham and his wife Lynette of LeRoy, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service in the spring.

Shirley Hewitt
NORTH BENNINGTON, Vt. - Mrs. Shirley S. Hewitt, 80, wife of Merritt S. Hewitt, a resident of Harvest Hills Dr., North Bennington, Vt., died Dec. 3, 2004 at her residence.
Born in Bellows Falls April 18, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Mary (Houghton) Smith. She received her education in the Lee, Mass. schools and was a 1941 graduate of Lee High School. She later graduated from Berkshire Business School in Pittsfield.
She and her husband were married in Lee on June 27, 1942.
She was active with her husband in various family businesses over the years. They first owned and operated the Double TT Dairy in Shaftsbury for many years and also owned Double TT Realty where she and her husband were both licensed brokers. After the dairy business closed, Double TT Realty were the developers of the Harvest Hills development in Shaftsbury.
While her husband was a member of both the Vermont House of Representatives and the Vermont Senate, she was active in supporting him in these positions. In later years prior to her retirement she was employed in the guidance department at Mt. Anthony Union High School in Bennington.
Over the years she was a very active member of the Old First Church in Bennington and was a former deacon at the church. She was a volunteer at the Bennington Museum and a member of the Manchester Country Club for 17 years and a member of the Red Hat Society. She sang in the Bennington Country Choral Society for many years. She enjoyed flowers in warm weather and hooking rugs in cold weather.
Survivors include her husband, Merritt S. Hewitt of North Bennington; four children, Sandra M. Hewitt and her husband Anthony Bell of Napa, Calif., Malcolm R. Hewitt and his wife Loreen of Sharon, Mass., Karen B. Hewitt of Sharon, Vt., and Brian M. Hewitt of Saco; five grandchildren, Eric, Jessica, Talia, Anna, and Shelby; one sister, Barbara Bracknell of Stockbridge, Mass.; and one niece, Robin Fox of Nashua, N.H.
She was predeceased by a daughter Joyce Hewitt.
Memorial services celebrating her life were held from the Old First Church in Old Bennington on Tuesday, with the Rev. Scott Barton, pastor officiating.
Burial took place in the family lot in Grandview Cemetery, North Bennington, where private committal services will be held at the convenience of the family.
