William Lindh
WELLS - William Milton Lindh III, 61, of Loop Road, died Aug. 15, 2004 at Goodall Hospital in Sanford.
He was born in Manchester, N.H. on Sept. 16, 1942, a son of William M. and Etta M. (Coulom) Lindh II.
He graduated from East Hartford High School and also from the University of Connecticut with an associate degree.
He worked for Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut and Berwick for 42 years.
He was a member of the Elks, he enjoyed horseracing, boating and sports. He also coached Little League baseball and Pop Warner football.
He was predeceased by his wife, Candace R. Newsom who died in 1978.
He is survived by one son, Roy Lindh of Wells: one brother, Raymond of Albany, N.Y.; two sisters, Dorothy Dubois of Weare, N.H. and Karen Boettcher of Palm Springs, Calif.; one stepson, Guy Newsom of Somers, Conn.; one stepdaughter, Tammy French; five step-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Rd. in Wells. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday, at St. Mary's Church in Wells. Burial will follow at Ocean View Cemetery, Wells.

June MacKenzie
KITTERY - June Ann MacKenzie, 65, of Sterling Road in Kittery died on Aug. 12, 2004 at York Hospital, following a long and courageous 18-year battle with ovarian cancer.
She was born on Sept. 2, 1938 in Randolph, Mass., attended local schools and graduated from Brocton High school with the class of 1956.
She served her country as a member of the United States Army from 1956 until 1962.
She married her husband Rene Bedard in 1973, and in 1976 they made their home here in the seacoast, settling in Kittery where they raised their family.
She is survived by her family; two sons, Brian MacKenzie of Kittery, and Brandon Bedard and his wife Amy of Kittery; and one loving granddaughter, Ashley Bedard.
She was predeceased by her husband Rene in 1973.
Services will be private.
Arrangements are entrusted to the J.S Pelkey Funeral Home of Kittery.
Mary McCloskey
KENNEBUNKPORT - Mary McCloskey, 97, of Kennebunkport and formerly a long-time resident of West Newton, Mass., died Aug. 12, 2004 at a Portland nursing home following a long illness.
She was born in 1906 in Billerica, Mass., a daughter of John and Lucy (Morris) Fairbrother. She graduated from Howe High in Billerica in 1923 and from St. Elizabeth's School of Nursing in Brighton in 1927.
She worked for 10 years for the Visiting Nurses Association in Boston before retiring to raise a family with her husband, Henry Francis (Luke) McCloskey. She eventually returned to work as a private duty nurse at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Brighton, Mass.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1983.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Furguson of Vienna, Va., and Susan McCloskey of Portland; one
son and daughter-in-law, John and Grace McCloskey of Louisiana; one sister, Helen Connor of Kennebunk; one cousin, Helene Cronin of Quincy, Mass.; nine
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be held at a later date at St. Martha Church in Kennebunk.

WELLS - William Meeks Sr., died March 19, 2004. Graveside committal services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Ocean View cemetery in Wells.
Henry Couture Jr., 60
BERWICK - Henry Edward Couture Jr., 60, resident of Hanson Road, Berwick died unexpectedly Monday June 14, 2004 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, N.H.
He was the husband of Barbara J. (Foye) Couture.
He was born Oct. 17, 1943 in Portsmouth, N.H., a son of Henry E. and Barbara S. (Fogg) Couture Sr. He attended Portsmouth schools.
He enjoyed the outdoors and was often out fishing, hunting, motorcycling, boating, or riding ATVs. He loved spending time with his wife and family.
He is predeceased by his brother Wayne and his sister Peggie.
He is survived by his wife Barbara of 43 years; three daughters, Pamela J. Piller, Karin M. Carson, and Judy A. and her husband Keven L. Surette, whom he referred to as his son; five grandchildren, Jolene and Steven Demers, Greg A. Piller, Tonya and Ryan Surette; and one sister, Sheila Bennington.
A funeral was held Saturday at Laing Bibber Funeral Chapel, Berwick. Rev. Peggy Dunn officiated. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery, Berwick.

Virginia Dame, 65
YORK -Virginia "Virge" (Sumalpong) Dame, 65, of 116 Woodbridge Rd., York, died the morning of June 17, 2004 at York Hospital. She was the wife of Frederick "Fred" Dame Sr.
Born in Ewa, Oahu, Hawaii, May 30, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Demetrio A. and Maria (Salas) Sumalpong and graduated from Waipahu High School in 1957. She was a stewardess for Inter Island Airlines and in more recent years has worked as a waitress at the York Harbor Inn.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Fred W. Dame, Jr. and Timothy S. Dame, both of York; two brothers, Alfredo Sumalpong of Honolulu and Stanley Sumalpong of California; one sister, Loretta S. Cruz of Las Vegas, Nev.; and one grandson, Devin James Jache.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Phil.
A graveside service was held Tuesday at the First Parish Cemetery, York.

Hazel Davis
WELLS - Hazel M. Davis of Wells died June 6, 2004 after a long illness with lung cancer.
She was born in Chesterfield, Mass., the daughter of the late Frederick K. and Florence E. (Moore) Utley.
She attended Amherst schools and graduated from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. From there, she pursued a teaching career in Education and taught in Trumbull, Conn., South Deerfield, Mass., Amherst, Mass., and South Yarmouth, Mass. In addition, she was a tour guide for many years on the Cape Cod and the islands where she lived before retiring to Maine.
Her love of children, books, nature and gardening led her into many areas of volunteering and enjoyment. She was a member of the Friends of the Wells Public Library, giving many hours with the Projects of the Friends. She was involved with the Love program at the Wells Elementary School, and a volunteer at the Wells Reserve, Laudholm Farm. In addition she belonged to the Webhannet Garden Club and the York County Retired Teachers Association.
She was also a participant on the History Committee of the 350th celebration of Wells.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Richard A Davis; one son, Christopher A. Davis and his wife Mary Ann and their children Isabelle and Benjamin all of Boulder, Colo.; one sister, Elizabeth Mannett of Westbrook, Conn.; one brother, F. Knowlton Utley and his wife Faith of Belchertown, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial visiting hours will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Rd., Wells. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the Chapel with Pastor Ellie Mercer officiating.

Philip Davis, 77
SACO - Philip R. Davis, 77, resident of Shadagee Road, Saco, formerly of Kennebunk, died June 17, 2004 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was the husband of Sarah "Sally" (Russell) Davis.
He was born Jan. 27, 1927 at his home in Calais, a son of Warren H. and Janie L. (Robinson) Davis. Following his graduation from Calais High School, he served as a Boatswain's Mate in the U.S. Navy during World War II earning the Victory Medal. He was then employed by the Calais Light and Power Company for 16 years and later a supervisor for Milliken Brothers Electric Supply Company. He moved to Kennebunk in 1963 where he was employed by Kennebunk Light and Power as general manager and later superintendent through the mid 1980s.
After retiring, he and his wife wintered in New Port Richie, Fla. for several years. He was a past member of the Calais Fire Department, Kennebunk Rotary Club, a member of Arundel Yacht Club, York Lodge AF & AM, Maine Consistory 320 Valley of Portland, Kora Shrine Center - Lewiston. Member and former director of York County Shrine Club, Kora Moped Unit, Portsmouth and Palm Harbor Barber Shop Quartet, SPEBSQSA, Elks Lodge in Biddeford-Saco and Sun Coast Aerie in Florida. He enjoyed fishing, boating, his cottage in St. Stephens, N.B. and especially spending quality time with his family.
He is predeceased by his brother Charles Warren Davis and a sister Helen Robertha Marraty.
He is survived by his wife Sally of 56 years; four daughters, Janet H. Davis of Canton, Miss., Mrs. Gordon (Joyce) Mailman of Saco, Mrs. Roland (Joy) Eon of Saco and Jill E. Farley of Biddeford; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews.
A Masonic service was held Monday at Bibber Memorial Chapel, Kennebunk. Funeral service was held at the Bibber Memorial Chapel Tuesday with the Rev. Lewis Flagg officiating. Interment was in Calais Cemetery, Calais on Wednesday.

Ann Fales, 73
KENNEBUNKPORT - Ann (Rimmer) Fales, 73, died on June 18, 2004, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Liverpool, England, whe was the daughter of Charles and Dorothy Rimmer. Her family moved to Boston just prior to the outbreak of World War II. She graduated in 1948 from Miss Porter's School in Connecticut.
After a brief marriage to Dean Fales Jr., she worked for many years in retail businesses in Manchester, Mass. and in New York City. In 1973, she took up residence in Kennebunkport, where she owned and operated Cape Arundel Inn for many years.
It was typical of her that she became deeply interested and active in Kennebunkport's life and governance serving on the zoning board of appeals, the Cape Arundel Neighborhood Association, and the Parson's Way Trust Committee. She was also a loyal and supportive member of Kennebunkport's Historical Society and Conservation Trust, and of the Kennebunk River Club.
She leaves one sister, Betsey Scarborough; one brother, Charlie Rimmer; and eight beloved nieces and nephews.
Her family will hold a memorial service on Tuesday, July 6, at 3 p.m. at St. Ann's Church, Ocean Avenue, Kennebunkport, to which her friends are warmly invited.
Her wish is for the support of a favorite charity, in her memory, in lieu of flowers.

Oliver Dufresne, 90
MANCHESTER, N.H. - Oliver H. Dufresne, 90, of Manchester, N.H. died June 17, 2004 at his residence. He was born in Newburyport, Mass. on Sept. 20,1913 and was the son of Peter and Edith (Choate) Dufresne. He moved from Newburyport to Auburn, Maine in 1914 and was a graduate of Edward Little High School Auburn, and had lettered in 13 sports while attending.
He had officiated in football, basketball and baseball for 25 years and was voted honorary member of the Central Maine Board of Baseball Umpires. He was past president of the local board of football officials. On April 8, 1994 he was inducted into the Lewiston- Auburn Hal1 of Fame in Maine. He started in the milk business right out of high school and worked for the Whiteholm Dairy of Aubum, and H.P. Hood & Sons of Auburn, and Manchester, N.H.; also was employed with Idlenot Dairy of Springfield. Vt.
In his life: he delivered milk with a horse and wagon for seven years later with a stand-up truck for five years. He was promoted to foreman, supervisor, assistant manager and branch manager and was in management for 20 years. Two sisters predeceased him, Louise Carrara and Hermennie Hyer.
He had been employed with H.P. Hood & Sons for 35 years then with Idlenot for 23 years. He retired on Feb. 28, 1994 after 60 years in the milk business. On April 17, 1994 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Associated Grocers of N.H. in Manchester, N.H. Also he was the recipient of a number of awards in the milk business. In 1938 he won a trip to the World's Fair for selling the most Grade A milk for babies, and in 1975 for selling $1 million in sales and received a trip to the Virgin Islands. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Manchester. He was a widower of Zadie (Thomas) Dufresne who died in 1989.
Members of the family include his wife Mrs. Laurette H. (Boucher) Dufresne of Manchester; two sons, Richard Dufresne of Hallandale, Fla., and Ronald Dufresne of Yorba Linda, Calif.; one daughter, Nancy Peterson of Los Banas, Calif.; and a predeceased son Robert Dufresne; three step-children, Mrs. Ronald (Doris) Dame of Pittsfield, N.H., Mrs Rick (Suzanne) Lavigne of Manchester, N.H., and Mrs. Robert (Elaine) Dube of Manchester, N.H.; a predeceased step-daughter Jeannine Duval; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, William Dufresne and Peter Dufresne, both of Longwood, Fla.
Graveside committal services were held Wednesday at Gracelawn Memorial Park.

John Hall, 83
BERWICK - John D. Hall, 83, of Sullivan Street, Berwick, died June 17, 2004 in Pompano Beach, Fla.
He was born in Somerville, Mass., July 9, 1920, a son of Walter and Grace (Stubbs) Hall. He graduated from Melrose High School in Massachusetts then University of New Hampshire. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a crew chief on C46 and C47s in the Pacific Theater.
He worked as a farmer for several years before working at the Great Falls Bleachery in Somersworth, N.H. During this time he was also a self-employed electrician.
He and his wife Elizabeth, moved to Florida in 1981 where they managed a condominium in Fort Lauderdale for several years before retiring to Pompano Beach.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Miller) Hall of Berwick; two sons, Henry and his wife Nancy Hall of Lee, N.H., and Kenneth and his wife Debbie Hall of Berwick; one daughter, Karen Hall of Cumberland; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Monday at the Johnson Funeral Home, North Berwick. Interment followed in the Hillside Cemetery, North Berwick.
