Doris Baker
SANFORD - Doris A. Baker, 85, of Dorrington Avenue, previously of Acton, passed away Aug. 4, 2004 in the Monarch Center of Saco.
She was born in North Berwick Aug. 16, 1918, a daughter of Carl H. and Margaret Allen. She graduated from Sanford High School. She had worked for the Goodall Mills in Sanford before raising a family. She enjoyed the outdoors and feeding the birds. She and her husband, Thomas, had a summer home in Rangeley for more than 30 years where they spent time with their families.
She was pre-deceased by Thomas Baker in 1994. Surviving are two sons, Timothy Baker and his wife Catherine of Rangeley, Ty Baker and his wife Roxanne of Acton; one daughter, Cherry Baker and her husband Mark Arsenault of Saco; one sister, Bertha Arton of California; and four grandchildren, Andrew, Nicholas and Travis Baker and Crista Blondell.
Graveside services will be held at a later date in the Hillside cemetery in North Berwick.

Leo Ouellette
SANFORD - Leo J. Ouellette, 81, of June Street, passed away unexpectedly July 5, 2004 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
He was born May 17, 1923 in Sanford, a son of Omer C. and Anna (Boisvert) Ouellette.
He served his country during World War II in the United States Army. For 20 years, he worked for Gendron Lumber in Sanford, and he was a Maytag repair man, then worked for 11 years at Wasco in Sanford as a carpenter.
He was a member of the Bethel Christian Church in North Berwick. He was a jack of all trades who loved working with his hands. He built remote control model air planes which he flew afterwards. He had a very creative mind and invented many things. He especially loved to make people laugh.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Theresa (Rivard) Ouellette of Sanford; two sons, Robert J. Ouellette and his wife Janelle of Adrian, Michigan, and David L. Ouellette and his wife Martha of Skowhegan; one daughter, Pauline Lebel and her husband Richard of Auburn, Mass.; one sister, Juliette Brulotte of Sanford; and five grandchildren, Danielle and Michelle Ouellette, Christine, David and Timothy Lebel.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday at the Bethel Christian Church, North Berwick. Family flowers only.

Jean Kolseth, 77
KENNEBUNK - Jean Edith Kolseth, 77, a resident of Webber Hill Road, Kennebunk died May 16, 2004 at the Southern Maine Medical Center, Biddeford after a brief illness.
She was born in Portland on Feb. 22, 1927, a daughter of Rufus S. and Edith (Coombs) Stevens Jr.
She attended local schools and graduated from Nasson College in Springvale.
She was a homemaker for most of her life.
She was devoted to her family and she enjoyed flowers, gardening, walking on the beach and true love of nature.
She was predeceased by her brother, Rufus Stevens III.
She is also survived by two sisters, Marjorie Amirault of Kennebunk and Virginia Malone of Rye, N.H.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Richard R. Kolseth Sr. of Kennebunk; one son, Richard R. Kolseth Jr. of Kennebunk; three daughters, Karen J. (Kolseth) Olson of North Attleboro, Mass., Susan (Kolseth) Demarco of Plainville, Mass. and Beth (Kolseth) Lombardo of Norton, Mass.; two sisters, Marjorie Amirault of Kennebunk and Virginia Malone of Rye, N.H.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral was held Wednesday at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, Kennebunk with the Rev. Carolyn Lambert officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Kennebunk.

D. Wallace Bragdon, 82
WELLS - D. Wallace Bragdon, 82, of Bragdon Road, Wells, died May 13, 2004 at Varney Crossing Nursing Center in North Berwick, after a long period of failing health.
He was born in Wells, Sept. 12, 1921, the second child and first son of Roger S. and Elva L. (Gray) Bragdon. He attended Wells schools and graduated from Wells High School. He then worked with his father and younger brother in the farming, dairy and cattle business. He was well known on the agricultural fair circuit, showing steers and oxen at most of the southern Maine fairs. He was very involved in cattle pulling, and judged cattle at the Windsor and Fryeburg fairs. He was a stockholder in the York County Agricultural Association for most of his life, and most recently, a director of the association.
He was a member of Ocean Lodge 142 AF & AM of Wells for 62 years, and was a Past Master. He was also a 60-year member of the Kora Temple Shrine, and for many years a member of the Shrine Degree Team, and the York County Shrine Club.
He served two terms as selectman of Wells, and was a member of the Wells Republican Town Committee.
He enjoyed playing horseshoes, and friends would gather at the farm after chores were done for horseshoe tournaments. He also was an avid cribbage and whist player, and bowled in a league for many years.
He was pre-deceased by one brother, Robert G. Bragdon, and sister Marjorie B. Keyes. He is survived by his sister, Dorothy B. Clark of Wells, with whom he lived, and sister, Priscilla B. Goodwin of Zephyrhills, Fla. and Shapleigh; 10 nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Johnson Funeral Home, North Berwick. Interment followed in the Bragdon Family Cemetery, Wells. Family flowers only. Margaret Byrne, 82
ARUNDEL - Margaret E. Byrne, 82, a resident of Log Cabin Road, Arundel, died May 12, 2004 at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford after a brief illness. She was the widow of John M. Byrne who died in 1992.
She was born in Biddeford, Jan. 8, 1922, a daughter of Philip and Margaret (Hill) Pearson. She attended Arundel schools and graduated from Oak Grove School for Girls in Vassalboro. She then attended and graduated from Guilford College in North Carolina where she received her teaching degree.
She taught school in Arundel, Kennebunkport Village School, and South Portland. She was an avid reader, and also enjoyed traveling and cooking. She was very artistic in knitting and braiding rugs. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution in the Kennebunkport, Maine chapter. For more than 35 years, she wintered in Ft. Lauderdale and Melbourne, Fla.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Robert Pearson.
She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Salzillo and Pamela Harris; four grandchildren, Lisa Watson, Laurie Salzillo, Christopher Harris, and Susan Harris; one sister-in-law, Freda Pearson; and one nephew, Dale Pearson; all of Arundel.
Private services were held at Bibber Memorial Chapel, Kennebunk with Interment at Arundel cemetery in Kennebunkport.

Spring Burial
KENNEBUNKPORT - Ann A. Henry died Jan. 23, 2004. There will be a graveside committal service at Arundel cemetery in Kennebunkport on May 22 at 10 o'clock.

Benjamin Howarth, 39
KITTERY - Benjamin Noble Howarth, 39, of Kittery, died at his home on May 13, 2004, a victim of ALS, (Lou Gehrig's disease).
He is the son of Barbara Rummler of Kittery, and John Noble Howarth, of Palm Desert, Calif. He is also survived by his two children, Macy Elizabeth Philbrick Howarth, 10, and Jonathan Stone Philbrick Howarth, 8, of Portsmouth, N.H.; one sister, Sarah Macy Howarth of Gloucester, Mass.; and his dearest friend, Andrea Gorecki of Rye, N.H.
He was born in San Diego, Calif. and spent his early years there and in Cotati, Calif. Upon return to the East Coast, he attended elementary school in Northwood, N.H. and Portsmouth High School, finishing high school at Concord High School, Concord, Calif. He later earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees at the University of Washington, Seattle, Wash.
Prior to his entry to the University of Washington, he served in the United States Navy for six years, primarily on board nuclear submarines. He successfully graduated Admiral Hyman Rickover's rigorous nuclear submarine training program, and served on the USS Helena.
He worked as an Environmental Engineer for XDD, of Stratham, N.H., until he was diagnosed with ALS. When he was not with his beloved children or at work, he sailed. Sailing was his passion, and he was an experienced competitor on both coasts.
A memorial service honored him on Monday. The service was held at the Unitarian Universalist Church, Portsmouth, N.H.

WELLS - Shirley Ann Hoyt died Dec. 11, 2003. There will be a graveside committal service at First Parish cemetery in York on May 24, 2004 at 10 o'clock.

Alice Hutchins, 90
SANFORD - Alice "Pat" Millicent Hutchins, 90, went to the live with the lord Dec. 10, 2003 after a long illness at the home of her daughter and son-in-law Carl and Elizabeth Smith.
She was born in Alfred on March 7, 1913, the daughter of Wilber and Elizabeth Edgecomb. She was a graduate of Alfred High School and Goodall Hospital School of Nursing. She married Albert W. Hutchins of Sanford, where they resided for 40 years. She worked as a nurse at the Goodall Hospital for 42 years, until her retirement in 1975. She was a member of Community United Methodist Church in Fruitland Park, Fla.
She moved to Connecticut to live with her daughter in 1982 after the death of her husband. They later moved to Texas, then to Florida.
She was predeceased by her three brothers, Wilber Edgecomb of Sanford, Marshman Edgecomb of Fla., Phillip Edgecomb of Ariz. and a sister Editha Edgecomb of Connecticut.
She is survived by one son, Wayne Hutchins of Saco and one daughter Elizabeth H. Smith of Wildwood Fla.; six grandchildren, Susan, Steven, and Scott Hutchins Kimberly Cunningham, Dwayne Cunningham and Kevin McCullough; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She loved camping and fishing and visiting her son's camp in Bryant Pond and going to Lobster Lake. She enjoyed gardening and had beautiful flower gardens in Connecticut where she lived with her daughter. Strangers would stop and remark on how beautiful they were. She loved sewing, crocheting and just helping people out. One of her greatest joys in her life was her grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at the North Parish Congregational Church in Sanford on Saturday at 2 p.m. Services will be conducted by her son-in-law Pastor Carl D. Smith. His daughter Elaine Purcell will provide the music. Interment will follow at Evergreen cemetery in Alfred.

Audrey Murphy, 71
NORTH READING, Mass. and Wells Beach - Audrey (Walsh) Murphy, 71, of North Reading, Mass. and Wells Beach, Maine died at her home on May 4, 2004.
She was the loving wife of 47 years to Hugh E. Murphy.
She was born in Stoneham on Dec. 9, 1932, a daughter of the late William and Elsie (Reardon) Walsh. She attended Wakefield schools, and was a graduate of Wakefield High School, class of 1950.
Prior to marriage, she was a stewardess for Northeast Airlines.
She was a talented artist, who loved to paint and draw. She enjoyed writing, poetry, and loved to fish. She was a very sweet person who was always smiling.
She had been a resident of North Reading for the past 47 years.
Besides her husband Hugh, she is survived by her loving daughters, Andrea Murphy and her husband, George Vorrilas of North Reading, Leigh Thomas and her husband, John of Lynnfield; one sister, Jacquelyn Lanigan of Kennebunk; two special grandchildren, Alexander Vorrilas and Parker Thomas; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held May 6 at the Croswell Funeral Home, North Reading, Mass., followed by a funeral Mass at St. Theresa's Church, North Reading. Burial was in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park cemetery in Peabody, Mass.

Jane Ritter, 90
OGUNQUIT - Jane P. Ritter, 90, of Ogunquit, died May 10, 2004 at Kennebunk Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Blackfoot, Idaho on Dec. 8, 1913, a daughter of Bruce and Winstead (Davie) Parmelee.
She attended school in California and earned her B.A. degree in teaching at Gorham State Teachers College.
She met her husband, Chris Ritter out West, and in the 1950s they settled in Ogunquit where she taught elementary school. Her husband, an artist, operated an art studio and frame shop on Route 1 in Cape Neddick. He died on Aug. 8, 1976.
She was a longtime active member of the Maine Teachers Association and loved traveling the globe.
Surviving are one sister, Jeannette Powell of Springfield, Idaho; three nephews, Mark Powell, Milton Powell and Ralph Powell; and one niece, Kathryn Watson, all of Idaho and Wisconsin.
A funeral service was held Saturday at Bibber Memorial Chapel, Wells, with Pastor Charles Jepson Jr. officiating. Burial was at the First Parish cemetery in York.
Helen Rosenquist, 90
PORTLAND - Helen A. Rosenquist, 90, died May 16, 2004 at Seaside Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center after a brief illness.
She was born in Gardner, Mass. on Aug. 25, 1913, a daughter of Francis and Macella Alisauskas and lived most of her life in Fitchburg, Mass.
She is predeceased by her husband, O. Henry Rosenquist. She is also predeceased by two brothers, Stanley and Frank Alisauskas and one sister, Damey Dokurno, all of Gardner, Mass.
She is survived by one daughter, Grace Lashua of Biddeford, and one sister, Martha Alison of Gardner, Mass.
Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family.
