Gladys Gerry, 76
ELIOT - Gladys S. "Tony" Gerry, 76, formerly of 108 State Rd. in Eliot, died on Jan. 25, 2004 at Southern Maine Medical Center following a period of failing health.
Born in South Portland on March 24, 1927, she was a daughter of John E. and Emily (Matthews) Antone. She was educated in the South Portland school system and was granted a General Equivalency Diploma by Marshwood High School.
She worked for 23 years in the cafeteria at Marshwood High School and ended up as baker for the district.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Eliot.
She was a den mother, Girl Scout leader and member of the Football Booster Club. She was an active member of the Eliot Garden Club, Ladies Circle, the Eastern Star and the Retired Teachers Association.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting, woodworking, gardening and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, one daughter and her husband Bonita and Wayne Schoff of Arundle; three sons, Robert and his wife Diane Gerry of Eliot, Carl Gerry of Candia, N.H., and Paul Gerry of Kittery; three sisters, Beryl Clark, Hilda Hahn and Ruth Trafford; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held in the spring of the year. Family flowers only.

Stanley Hatch, 86
SANFORD - Stanley F. Hatch, 86, of Country Club Road, died Jan. 20, 2004 at Coastal Manor in Yarmouth after a long illness.
He was born Nov. 8, 1917 in North Berwick, a son of Chester and Evelyn Hatch.
He lived in Acton for many years prior to moving to Country Club Road in Sanford. He worked for the town of Sanford Water District and retired at the age of 62. In his retirement years, he enjoyed his many pets and working in his gardens. He also enjoyed making bird and squirrel feeders and watching his John Wayne movies.
He was pre-deceased by three sisters, Della Place, Bertha Benway and Elsie Hunt.
Survivors include four sons, Steven Hatch of Florida, Scott Hatch of Arundel, Dana Hatch of Sanford, and Stanley N. Hatch of Georgia; one daughter Pamela Melcher of Wells; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister Rosanna Travers of North Berwick; one brother Leon Hatch of Milton, N.H.; several nieces and nephews; and loving friends, Bob and Joanne Pellitier.
There will be no funeral services. A private burial will be held in the spring in the Hillside Cemetery, North Berwick.

Ann Henry, 66
KENNEBUNKPORT - Ann A. (Moulton) Henry, 66, a resident of Chestnut Street, Kennebunkport, died Jan. 23, 2004, surrounded by her family at the Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford after a long battle with cancer.
She was born in Portland, Feb. 9, 1937, a daughter of F. Raymond and Ann F. (Henry) Moulton. She attended Kennebunkport schools and graduated from Kennebunk High School in 1956. She graduated from the former Golden School of Beautician in Portland and was employed as a beautician for several years. Several years later after raising her six children she became an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with the Gray Rescue Team and later served as a dispatcher in Gray. She then left to become employed with Blue-Cross and Blue Shield as a claims analyst and before becoming ill last year she was with Cigna Health Care Company.
She adored and loved her family and especially spending time with her grandchildren along with her pet cats. An avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed many trips and visits with her closest friends. For many years she attended a Christian group gathering with her friends.
She is survived by her parents Frank Ray and Ann F. Moulton of Kennebunkport; six children, James Sidbury, Lyn Rae Sidbury, both of North Conway, N.H., Michael Sudbury of Texas, Charles (Chip) Henry of Greenville, William (Chuck) Henry of Lewiston, and Ray Henry of Gray; one sister Donna (Della Moulton) Evans of Old Orchard Beach; five grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew.
Graveside services will be held later in the spring in Arundel Cemetery, Kennebunkport.

Dorothea Mohring, 71
ROCHESTER, N.H. - Dorothea "Dottie" H. Mohring, 71, of Portland Street in Rochester, N.H. died on Jan. 25, 2004 at York Hospital following a period of failing health.
Born in Bronx, N.Y. on Dec. 8, 1932, she was the daughter of Charles A. and Ida M. (Dye) Schneider, and attended local schools.
She was employed for many years at E.J. Kovetti in Long Island and later at the one-hour Martenizing in Portsmouth.
She and her husband the late Henry D. "Hank" Mohring moved to the seacoast in 1969, where they have made their home ever since. They made their home for more than 14 years at Foxwell Retirement Community in Kittery until Hank's death in 2002. After his death she was fortunate to make her home with her daughter and son-in-law in Rochester, where she was able to be closer to and enjoy her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a member at the Nute Ridge Bible Chapel in Milton, N.H. where she had forged many strong friendships.
She enjoyed time spent gardening, and adored her daughter's cat. He greatest love was unquestionably spending time with her family, watching the grandchildren grow into young adults and have their own children, walking on the beach and just chatting with them brought her much joy.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law Dorothea "Dee" and Charles Martin of Rochester; one grandson Russell and his wife Lynn Martin of Rochester; and six great-grandchildren, Nikkita, Christian, Travis, Laura, Ricky and Cory.
A funeral will be held today at 6 p.m. at the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Rd. in Kittery.
Donations may be made in her memory to the New Hampshire SPCA, 104 Portsmouth Ave., Stratham, NH 03885.

Ralph Pierpont, 72
KENNEBUNK - Ralph Erskine Pierpont, 72, a resident of Gendron Lane, Kennebunk, died peacefully Jan. 21, 2004 at the Southern Maine Medical Center surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Washington, Maine on July 28, 1931, a son of Percival and Lilla (Farwell) Pierpont. After graduating from Thomaston High School, he went to the University of Maine in Orono where he earned his bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering in 1958. He was a mechanical engineering manager for Sprague Electric in Sanford for more than 36 years.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling, and sports. He was an avid fan of the Red Sox, Patriots, and the Celtics.
He was a longtime member of the York Masonic Lodge in West Kennebunk.
He was a born-again Christian who became a member of the New Life Church in Biddeford.
He is predeceased by his two brothers Almond and Clyde.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Helen; two daughters, Lynn and son-in-law Stephen Racz of Biddeford and Laurie and son-in-law Peter Crowell of Muskegon, Mich.; one son Steven and his wife Traci of Lebanon; eight grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Daniel, and Joel Racz, Samantha and Kellie Crowell, and Amy and Alison Pierpont; and two sisters-in-law, Leona Pierpont and Natalie Pierpont.
The funeral service was held Saturday at Bibber Memorial Chapel Kennebunk with Pastor Brian Burns officiating.

Earl Stone, 74
KENNEBUNK - Earl Witter Stone Jr., 74, of Kennebunk, died Jan. 19, 2004 at Seaside Rehabilitation and HealthCare Center in Portland.
He was born in Worcester, Mass. on Aug. 3, 1929, a son of Earl Witter and Hazel (Deland) Stone.
He graduated from South High School and Babson College with a bachelor's degree in business management.
He was a salesman for most of his life and worked for C.K. Gifts from where he retired in 1996.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy, on both destroyers, the James C. Owen and the Forest Royal, serving in the Korean War as a signalman.
A member of the All Saints Church in Worcester for more than 40 years, he had a love of music, serving as head of the All Saints Choir Alumni Association, the oldest continuing choir of men and boys in the nation.
His quick wit and humor will not be forgotten.
He had lived in Kennebunk since 1985 coming from Worcester, Mass.
He is survived by his wife, Gretchen E. (Stubbs) Stone of Kennebunk; one son David Stone of Eugene, Ore.; four daughters, Deborah Stone of Maui, Hawaii, Pamela M. Grimley of Barrington, N.H., Dianne Hazel Stone of Royal Hondo, New Mexico, and Amy M. Follansbee of Sterling, Mass.; two sisters, Barbara S. Rush of So. Miami, Fla. and Mary Stone of Holden, Mass.; seven grandchildren; and his former wife, Cynthia (Norton) Stone of Eugene, Oregon. He will be missed by his family and his many, many friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at the All Saints Church in Worcester, Mass.

Helen Saunders, 86
KENNEBUNK - Helen H. Saunders, 86, of 1 Penny La. and a long-time resident of Perry Oliver Road in Wells, died Jan. 27, 2004 at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.
She was born on April 14, 1917 in Woodlawn, renamed Aliquippa, Pa., the daughter of Rowland M. and Clara (Knight) Hussey.
She was a 1938 graduate of Wheaton College, Norton, Mass. and a 1939 graduate of the Katharine Gibbs School in New York.
On Aug. 31, 1940, she married Orrin B. Saunders at her grandparents' home in North Berwick. He died in 2000.
She was a lifelong homemaker and working woman. During World War II, she lived in Boston and worked at the Radiation Laboratory at MIT, which developed radar as part of the war effort. Living in Wells in the 1950s, she worked in the office at Hussey Manufacturing, North Berwick and was active in Scouting, church and community affairs. In 1963, the family moved to Elizabeth, Pa. and then to Ann Arbor, Mich. where she worked as a secretary in the University of Michigan Chemistry Department.
Retiring to the family home in Maine in 1980, she served on the Wells-Ogunquit Adult Community Education citizen advisory board, was active in the "No Tanks" movement, was a deacon of the Congregational Church of Wells and sang alto in the church choir.
She enjoyed cooking, indoor and outdoor gardening, vacations going back to childhood at Wells Beach, the companionship of her rug braiding group and her Scrabble mates, watching football, playing the piano and singing, reading mystery stories, family gatherings and a good joke. She will be remembered for her practical approach to life, her sense of humor and her devotion to her family.
She is survived by three children, David N. of Saco, Barbara MacIntosh of Amesbury, Mass., and Robert M. of Kittery; two brothers, Arthur M. Hussey II of Bowdoinham and Rowland M. Hussey Jr. of Clifton Park, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 11 a.m. at the Congregational Church of Wells, Route 1 North.

Iris Borden, 78
ELIOT - Iris P. Borden, 78, of Pondorosa Drive in Eliot, died on Feb. 4, 2004 at her home following a period of failing health.
Born in Florida on July 19, 1925, she was a daughter of Arthur and Ethel ( Hubbard) Hooper, she was brought up in Florida and also New Jersey.
In the 1970s she moved to Rye Beach where she made her home for many years before settling in Eliot in the early 1980s. She met and in 1986 married her loving husband of more than 18 years, Thomas Borden.
Together they owned and operated Borden Associates of Eliot. An active partner in the business, She manned the phones for customers calls, ran the office and kept track of the guys at all hours on the base radio.
She enjoyed her animals, raising many rare and exotic birds and adored her dogs and cats. She enjoyed keeping her property up, mowing the grass until recently and keeping her plants.
She is survived by her loving husband Thomas Borden of Eliot and her sons Peter and Sean Morahan of Florida.

Marshall Boston, 81
WELLS - Marshall C. Boston, 81, a resident of Sanford Road, Wells died Feb. 5, 2004 at the York Hospital.
He was born in Wells, Dec. 5, 1922, a son of Victor L and Blanche W. (Wakefield) Boston and graduated from Wells High School in the class of 1940.
He was a Staff Sargeant with the U.S. Army during World War II. He served in the Amphibious Brigade in the South Pacific and during the Occupation of Japan in 1943-1945.
After the war, he was employed by the United States Postal Services of Wells as mail carrier for 36 years before retiring in 1982.
He was involved in the Wells Community. He was a Charter Member of the Wells Beach Hose Company and served on the school board and school building committee. He was a member of the Wells Athletic Boosters and coached the Wells Little League and Babe Ruth teams. He was a member of the Wells Clam Commission and the Pheasant Program.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming.
He is predeceased by his son Michael and his brothers Morris and Lawrence "Sonny" Boston.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eleanor Davis Boston; two sons, Thomas W. Boston and his wife Crystal Boston and William Z. "Bill" Boston, all of Wells; one brother Robert Boston Sr. of North Berwick; seven grandchildren, Dustin, Michael, Heather, Zackary, Cole, Brigitte and Sarah Boston; and also three great-grandchildren, Cody, Audra and Sonja Boston.
A funeral was held Monday at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, Wells with the Rev. Stephen Hastings officiating. Interment was in Ocean View Cemetery, Wells.
