Markangelo D'Uva, 39
KENNEBUNK - Markangelo D'Uva, 39, of Kennebunk died Sept. 03, 2003 after a long and courageous battle with diabetes.
Surviving are his wife Christine; his parents Angelo and Shirley; and one sister, Felicia D'Uva.
Interment services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Beach Street, Saco.
Family and friends are welcome to attend.
Barbara Elmo, 80
KITTERY - Barbara M. Elmo, 80, formerly of Haley Road in Kittery Point died Sept. 21, 2003 at Edgewood Centre in Portsmouth following a period of failing health.
Born in Kittery on Aug. 12, 1923, she was the daughter of Mark and Ellen (Glidden) Caswell. She attended local schools graduating from R.W. Traip Academy with the class of 1940.
A life-long care giver to children, she schooled many children at her nursery school in Kittery Point and later at the child care center on the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Her love of children was a center point in her life and brought her a tremendous amount of joy.
She was an active member of her church, the First Christian Church in Kittery Point, she served as a deaconess, more than 50 years as a Sunday school teacher, the Sewing Bees, the Amicus club and was a fixture at church suppers. She also served as a leader in her daughter's Brownie and Girl Scout troops. She was also a member of the Kittery Historical Society and greatly enjoyed travel, and spending time with her many friends.
She was active in many activities, however her first love was her family.
She is survived by one daughter Ellen and her husband Lenny Kaply of Kittery Point; four sons, Joseph and his fiancˇe Linn Spruce of Florida, Roy Elmo of South Berwick, Steven Elmo of Eliot, and Dean Elmo of Kittery Point; four grandchildren and the light of her life, Philip Elmo and Lydia, Emma and Jacob Kaply.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Joseph Elmo, her son Bruce and a daughter Carol as well as two brothers, Howard and Russell Caswell.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at her church, the First Christian Church in Kittery Point. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with the Amicus club offering a time of refreshment and sharing after the services. Friends may visit with the Elmo family this evening from 6-8 at the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Rd., Kittery, ME 03904.

Irving Wilcox, 70
KENNEBUNKPORT - Irving S. Wilcox, 70, died at his home Sept. 8, 2003.

Avis Ilchak, 87
KITTERY - Avis A. (Moore) Ilchak, 87, of Woodlawn Avenue died Sept. 15, 2003 at The Edgewood Centre in Portsmouth, following a period of failing health.
Born in Kittery on Oct. 6, 1915, she was the daughter of Frank Hamilton Moore and Maud Ashley (Cole) Moore. She graduated from R.W. Traip Academy with the class of 1933.
She attended the Second Christian Church of Kittery for many years. She was very fond of animals.
She married her loving husband of 66 years Michael R. Ilchak on June 9, 1937. They made their home and raised a family in Kittery. She relocated to The Edgewood Centre with her husband in February of this year.
She will be missed by those who knew and loved her. They include her husband Michael R. Ilchak; one daughter and her husband Edmund and Maureen Quirk of Kittery; two granddaughters, Julie (Kallen) Rowe and her husband Scott of Kittery, and Kathi (Kallen) Kneeland and her husband James of S. Portland ; three great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Moody, John Moody, and Isaac Roylos; and three step-great-grandchildren, Sarah, Dan and Matthew Rowe.
A funeral was held Friday at the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, Kittery with the Rev. Brad Hirst officiating.

C. Esther MacLeod, 92
WELLS - C. Esther MacLeod, 92, a resident of Drakes Island Road, Wells, died Sept. 18, 2003 at the Greenbriar Terrace Health Care in Nashua, N.H. after a long illness.
She was born in Waltham, Mass. on Dec. 19, 1910, a daughter of Arthur and Ida (Hoyt) Beverly. She graduated from Watertown, Mass. High School and attended secretarial school in Boston for several years.
She worked as a secretary for many places from 1942 to 1971.
She was very active in many groups including the bridge club, the Wells-Ogunquit Health Association, Friends of the Library, The Extension and the Wells Congregational Church.
She was also quite musical. She liked to play the piano and organ, and loved to sing. She was an outdoors person and always loved to take walks on the beach at Drakes Island.
She was predeceased by her husband Thomas MacLeod; her brothers and sisters, Paul and Stephen Beverly, Ruth B. Berry, Phyllis B. Dudley and Marjorie Beverly.
She is survived by one daughter Janice Shepard of Burlington, Mass.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial visiting hours will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. today at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Rd., Wells, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Herbert Henry officiating. Interment will be in Westview Cemetery, Lexington, Mass.

Clifton Shippee, 77
SCARBOROUGH - Clifton W. Shippee, 77, a resident of Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough, died Sept. 21, 2003 at the Maine Veterans Home after a long illness.
He was born in Buckland, Mass. on Jan. 18, 1926, a son of John and Bessie (Handfield) Shippee Sr. and attended schools there. He was a World War II and Korean veteran serving with the U.S. Navy.
He was an installer and repairman for the AT&T Bell Telephone company for more than 35 years.
He was a member of the Mountain Masonic Lodge in Shelburne Falls, Mass., and also a member of Kora Shriners of Lewiston. He also was a big fan of the Wells football team. He enjoyed gardening, golf, and singing. He was a member of both the Suncook and Seaglass Chorale groups.
Surviving are one stepson, Tom Cooledge of Wells; a daughter, Pam Schiavone of Puyallup, Washington; a step daughter, Jean Walters of Wells; and a brother, John S. Shippee Jr. of Buckland, Mass.
Friends may call from 6-8 tonight at the Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home in Shelburne Falls, Mass. where a Masonic Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday. Interment will follow in the Taylor cemetery in Buckland, Mass.

Melvin Snodgrass Sr., 83
KITTERY - Melvin Tyler Snodgrass Sr., 83, of Rice Avenue in Kittery, died Sept. 18, 2003 at York Hospital following a long illness. By his side was his devoted wife of 56 years Mary, who lovingly attended to him until his passing.
Born in Kittery on March 9, 1920, he was the son of J. Rexford and Edith (Proctor) Snodgrass. He attended Kittery schools graduating from R.W. Traip Academy with the class of 1938.
He served his country as a member of the United States Army in the 10th Mountain Division and was highly decorated receiving not only the Bronze Star for Bravery but also the Victory Ribbon.
He retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard where he was employed as an electrician. He was an avid golfer, skier and loving father.
He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 56 years Mary (Tott) Snodgrass; three sons, Melvin T. Snodgrass Jr. of Stratham, N.H., Dana B. Snodgrass and David B. Snodgrass, both of Kittery; two grandchildren, Dana B. Snodgrass Jr. of Vashon Island, Wash. and Shelley Snodgrass of Freeport; two great-grandchildren, Dylan Snodgrass and Cara Snodgrass of Washington.
Funeral services will be private.

Andrew Winn, 87
YORK - Andrew B. Winn, 87, of Gulfport, Fla., formerly of Cape Neddick died Sept. 17, 2003.
Born in Cape Neddick on Feb. 8, 1916, son of the late Ralph and Mabel Winn.
He was a local contractor and built many homes in the area. Also he enjoyed lobstering.
He was an avid sports fan enjoying all sports.
He was a member of St. Aspinquid Masonic Lodge, Kora Temple Shriners and a 32nd degree mason.
He is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Carolyn and Robert Boston of Cape Neddick and Patricia and John Cloonan of N. Waterboro; one daughter-in-law Doris Winn of York; one sister Frances Bracy of York; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Annie, who died in 1996 and a son Lawrence R. Winn who died in 1997.
At his request there will be no services. National Cremation Society is in charge of arrangements for cremation.
Pauline Gascon, 67
KENNEBUNK - Pauline Ann Gascon, 67, died Sept. 20, 2003 at Skilled Care Center at Silver Lake Commons in Kingston, Mass.
She was born in Biddeford on Dec. 30, 1935, the daughter of Joseph and Annette (Martin) Doherty. After graduating from Biddeford schools, she went on to graduate from nursing school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse.
She worked at the Kennebunk Nursing Home on Ross Road. She loved spending time with her family and playing with her grandchildren. She enjoyed walking on the beach, classical music, and theater.
She is predeceased by one brother, Richard Doherty.
Surviving are her daughter Celeste Gascon of Duxbury, Mass.; one son Christopher Gascon of Fayetteville, N.Y.; two brothers, Joseph Doherty of Biddeford and Raymond Doherty of Lyman; and three grandchildren.
A funeral will be held today at 11 a.m. at the Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk with Father Laplante presiding. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery, Kennebunk.

George Perreault, 52
BERWICK - George H. Perreault, 52, a resident of Cranberry Meadow Road, Berwick died Nov. 9, 2003 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Biddeford on April 2, 1951, a son of Wilfred R. Perreault and Coronna (LaPanne) Thibeault. He graduated from Dover High School in 1969 and Concord Tech College and University of Southern Maine.
He was a quality control engineer for Heidleburgh Web System. He was a member of the Berwick Fire Department from 1979-1986, a pilot of the Strawberry Patch RC of Sanford, and a member of the Folk Group for the Our Lady of Peace for 24 years. He enjoyed his family, fishing, camping, flying, his music and guitar.
He was predeceased by his father Wilfred Perreault and sister, Delina Sewall, and brother-in-law, Frank Sewall.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Christine Turmelle, his mother Coronna Thibeault, two sons, George Jr. and Thomas, one daughter Elisabeth all of Berwick; nephew Frank Sewall and wife Renee, two children, Madison and Jordan, nephew Jerry Lanoie, wife Kelly and one child Hanna Michelle; niece Delina Bilodeau, her husband Norman; niece Michelle Foster; Auntie Delina Perreault; sister-in-law Carmen Leary; brother-in-law Ralph and David Turmelle, "His Rosy" and "His buddy - Paul Lanoie"; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.
Funeral Mass was held Wednesday at the Our Lady of Peace, Berwick. Interment was in St. Michael Cemetery, Rollinsford, N.H.

Richard Apgar, 74
OGUNQUIT - Richard "Pete" "Cy" Apgar, 74, of Captain Thomas Road, died unexpectedly Nov. 3, 2003 at his residence.
He was born in Oldwick, N.J. on July 4, 1929, the youngest son of Ross and Hazel (Wade) Apgar. He was a 1948 graduate of York High School. He served in both the U.S. Navy and Air Force during the Korean War.
He had been a telephone splicer, lineman and installer for New England Telephone at the Sanford and Kennebunk offices for 30 years. He lobstered on his boat "Firecracker Pete" for many years. He held a captain's license and chartered ocean and tuna fishing.
He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed clamming and traveling in his travel trailer.
He was predeceased by a brother, Ross Apgar, who died in 1986.
Survivors include two daughters, Phoebe Apgar-Pressey and her husband, Lynn of York and Karen Apgar Connolly and her husband, Stephen of York; four grandchildren, Emma and Kiera Pressey and Timothy and Malory Connolly; one sister, Phoebe A. Foster and one brother, Paul H. Apgar both of York.
A memorial service was held Sunday at the York Fishermen's Memorial in York Harbor. Interment was at sea.
