Emerson J. Langrell
EASTON - Emerson Joseph 'Fox" Langrell of Easton died at his home Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999. He was 65.
Born in Chestertown on June 30,1934, he was the son of the late Emerson Edward and Henrietta Spurry Langrell.
He graduated from St. Michaels High School in 1952 and was vice president of his class.
In 1953, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1956.
Following his release from active duty, he began working as a supervisor for Waverly Press in 1957 and, shortly after, he made his home in Easton. Waverly Press became Cadmus just prior to his retirement in 1996.
He married R. Adeline Langrell of Easton, formerly of St. Michaels, in 1955,
Mr. Langrell was a member of the E.R. Streets Memorial Post, V.F.W. No. 5118.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Langrell is survived by three sons, Craig Langrell of Salisbury, Chris Langrell of Trappe, and Ed Langrell of Easton; a brother, Phil Langrell of Boise, Idaho; and three granddaughters. A sister, Jean Langrell, is deceased.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 22, at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Easton. Friends may call at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, Easton on Thursday, from 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Easton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Talbot Hospice Foundation, 586 Cynwood Drive, Easton, Md. 21601.

Roberta H. Liden
FEDERALSBURG - Roberta H. Liden of Federalsburg died of heart failure Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at Genesis ElderCare-The Pines, Easton. She was 105.
Born May 11, 1894 near Federalsburg, she was the daughter of the late Elisha H. and Annie E. LeCompt Harper.
Her husband, Claude D. Liden, died Sept. 9, 1978.
She was one of the five students graduating from Federalsburg High School's Class of 1910. Before her marriage, she taught at Neal School near Seaford, Del.
She was the church's oldest member and a life-long member of Bethel United Methodist Church, where she was in charge of Bethel cemetery until 11 years ago.
Mrs. Liden is survived by one son, Conrad Liden of Adelphi, Md.; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Deceased are a foster son, Garrett Liden, and nine brothers and sisters, Versie Harper, Flossie Harper, James Harper, Kemp Harper, John Harper, Floyd Harper, Ruth Messick, Grace Smith and Alice Bailey.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 23, at Bethel United Methodist Church cemetery, Federalsburg.
Arrangements are by Williamson Funeral Home, Federalsburg.

Helen H. Bishop
QUEENSTOWN - Helen Harner Bishop of Queenstown, died Nov. 3, 1999, at the Corsica Hills Nursing Center in Centreville. She was 87.
Born on Oct. 16, 1912, in Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Delmer & Delora Wolf Harrier. She grew up on a farm near Dayton, Ohio and graduated from high school in Ohio. She graduated from Miami of Ohio University Teacher's College. Mrs. Bishop then taught for five years in Tipp City, Ohio. She then received her bachelors degree in Home Economics from Ohio State University.
In 1939 she came to Queen Anne's County as a Home Demonstration Agent and worked for 3 1/2 years until marriage to J. Tilghman Bishop on Feb. 21, 1943. Together they owned & operated the Winona Farm in Carmichael. He predeceased her on May 27, 1993.
Mrs. Bishop joined the 4-H Club 77 years ago and was always very supportive in 4-H work. She helped establish the present 4-H Park during her term as Home Demonstration Agent and continued interest since then. She enjoyed judging at the Queen Anne's County Fair, and fairs in Ohio, Delaware and the Maryland State Fair. She was a member of Chesapeake College Board of Trustees for 10 years, Queen Anne's Historical Society, Queen Anne's Library, Charter Member of American Association of University Women, Charter Member of Queen Anne's Museum of Eastern Shore Life. She also assisted with bringing new doctors to Queen Anne's County, establishing Corsica Hills, Tilghman Terrace & Chesapeake College. She held many offices in Queen Anne's County Council of Homemaker Clubs, was a member of Wye of Carmichael United Methodist Church in Queenstown, and held many offices in Women's Society for 56 years. Mrs. Bishop also enjoyed gardening, entertaining in her home, reading and traveling. She also hosted foreign exchange students.
She is survived by a son Charles "Tim" Bishop of Queenstown; a daughter Elizabeth Ann Bishop of Easton, and one granddaughter, Julie Ann Bishop. A sister Irene Ferguson of Michigan. A brother predeceased her, Charles L. Harner.
Funeral services were held at l p.m. Saturday Nov. 6, 1999, at Wye of Carmichael United Methodist Church in Queenstown. Family and friends called at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home in Centreville, between the hours 7 and 9 p.m. Interment was in Chesterfield cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Queen Anne's Museum of Eastern Shore Life, P.O. Box 525, Centreville, Md. 21617; or Wye of Carmichael United Methodist Church P.O. Box 7 Queenstown, Md. 21658.

James F. Boyden
HURLOCK - James Francis Boyden, of Hurlock died at University Hospital in Baltimore, on Wednesday Nov. 3, 1999. He was 63.
He was born in Muskegon, Mich., on Aug. 10, 1936, the son of the late Harry Boyden and Alice Lucille Jelf Boyden.
He was a retired staff sergeant in the United States Air Force.
After retiring, he became a member of the Delmarva Rabbit Association in which he was a member for 25 years and had raised rabbits for retail. He had attended Bloomery Church where he served as treasurer. He was a member of His Lighthouse Fellowship Church in Federalsburg where he served on the mission board, was treasurer for 25 years, and custodian for 21 years.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Donna Fay Brown Boyden, three sons, Ricky Boyden of Farmington Hills, Mich., Kirk Evin Boyden of Del Rio, Texas, Brian Keith Boyden of Pensacola, Fla.; a daughter, Belinda Fay Bollinger of Federalsburg, eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, a brother, Fred Boyden of Muskegon, Mich., and one nephew.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Nov. 7, at His Lighthouse Fellowship Church in Federalsburg with the Rev. John Dorrough officiating. Interment was in Bloomery cemetery near Federalsburg. Friends called at the church from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Memorial contributions can be made to His Lighthouse Fellowship Church, P.O. Box 453, Federalsburg, Md. 21632.
Arrangements are by Framptom-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home in Federalsburg.

Dr. Thomas N. Cornish
WORTON - Dr. Thomas Nebo Cornish of Worton, formerly of Washington, D.C. died Nov. 2, 1999, at Kent & Queen Anne's Hospital, Chestertown. He was 81.
Born on Sept. 30, 1918, in Cambridge/Rock, Md., he was the son of the late Verbie and Johnanna Cornish.
Dr. Cornish was a retired pharmacist and research chemist at the David W. Taylor Naval Ship Research and Development Center Laboratory, Annapolis, where he made significant contributions to the development of rust inhibited fire resistant hydraulic fluid for use in hydraulic systems for the U.S. Department of the Navy extending the life of naval machinery. He served on the Equal Employment Opportunity Committee as an advisor to the commanding officer of the laboratory.
He received his early education in the public schools of Dorchester County, graduating from Frederick Douglas St. Clair High School in 1936. He graduated from Morgan State University with a B.S. degree in chemistry in 1942 and from the Howard University College of Pharmacy in 1953.
He spent three and half years in the U.S. Army and served in the Medical Corps. There he served in the analytical chemistry laboratories at several Army hospitals. He received a certificate in clinical pathology from the Walter Reed Medical Center, Washington, D.C. and was one of the first blacks to complete that course. While serving in Europe, he studied parapsychology at St. Andrews University in Scotland.
In addition to his activities in chemical research, he was a practicing pharmacist and a long time active member of the National Pharmaceutical Association, serving as president of this association. He was influential in establishing the Student National Pharmaceutical Association.
That was typical of the energy and compassion he devoted to encouraging black youth to pursue careers in the scientific and technical fields and encouraged the establishment of student chapters of NTA on several college campuses. Because of his outstanding and extensive service to NTA and the community, he was the recipient of many local and national awards.
He received his early religious background at the Rock/St. Luke United Methodist Church, Dorchester County. In later years, he became a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Washington, D.C. in 1960. He was an active member and supporter of the church-community outreach groups serving on the Administrative Board, Board of Trustees and the United Methodist Men for many years. His name appears on a commemorative plaque.
On Sept. 18,1949, Dr. Cornish married Thelma Oretta Murray. At this union Thelma, his wife, became the proud step-mother of his daughter Barbara, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma; one grandson, Kevin Charles Chichester; one sister, Elizabeth Cornish; and a sister-in-law, Lula Washington, with whom he lived.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucinda Wilson and Lola Camper and two brothers, Palestine and Edward Cornish.
A funeral service was held at noon on Monday, Nov. 8, at Hurlock UM Church, Hurlock, Md.
Friends called on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Asbury UM Church, 11th and K Streets, N.W., Washington, D.C.
Burial was in Maryland Veterans cemetery of the Eastern Shore in Beulah.
Arrangements are by the Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Worton, Md.

Brianna M. Dille
FEDERALSBURG - Brianna Marie Dille, of Federalsburg died on Nov 3, 1999 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. She was three weeks old.
She is the daughter of Benjamin Brooks Jr. of Eldorado and Jennifer Jessie Dille of Federalsburg.
Besides her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Patricia Dille of Federalsburg, and Victor Dille of Springfield, Va.; her paternal grandparents, Sheila and Benjamin Brooks of Eldorado, and maternal great-grandparents, David and Sylvia Miller of Queen Anne and one aunt, Lisa Dille.
Funeral services were held at Framptom-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home in Federalsburg at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 8.
Memorial donations can be made to Caroline County Family Support Center, Teen-Parent Program, 100 North 6th St., Denton, Md. 21629.
