Richard “Richie” Arnold 60 of Taylorsville, MD, died Thursday January 3, 2008 at Carroll Hospital Center. He was the spouse of Lynda Lou Spealman Arnold He was born October 7, 1947 in Sykesville MD the son of Nannie May Warfield Arnold and the late Roger G. Arnold, Sr. He was a Superintendent for Miller, Long and Arnold Construction. He served in the US Army during Vietnam. Mr. Arnold raised Black Angus Cattle, Appaloosa and Quarter Horses. He was a member of the Ponies of America. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and going to Horse and Cattle Auctions. Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are Son: Christopher Arnold of Taylorsville, Daughter and Son-in-law Keri and Tommy Gaigalas of Taylorsville, Brother and sister-in-law: Roger and Priscilla Arnold of Mt. Airy, Brother and sister-in-law: Robert James and Flo Arnold of Damascus. Sister and brother-in-law Betty and Joe Flater of Mt. Airy Grandchildren: Emily, CJ and Destiny Arnold, Brandi Lookingbill and Cody Lewis-Gaigalas. Mother-in-law and father-in-law Lola and Tommy Cupp Sister-in-law and brother-in-law Karl and Bonnie Petro, Brother in-law Troy Waddell Close friends Bobby Bowman, Dave and Anne Shaffer Niece: Audrey Noonan Nephew KP Petro. Hewett, Carolyn E.
Mrs. Carolyn Evelyn Hewett 85 of Eldersburg, MD. Died January 1, 2008 at Carroll Hospital Center. She was born July 25, 1922 in Baltimore, MD. The daughter of the late Henry and late Mary Auth Hamp. She was the spouse of the late Lynn Thompson Hewett in 1994. Her greatest pleasure in life was taking long rides in a car and being around her grandchildren. Many people will remember her for her quick wit and sense of humor. She was a graduate of Forest Park High School and worked at AT & T in Baltimore and also the Holiday Inn in Woodlawn. She is also predeceased by a son-in-law Rev. Bert Benz who died in 1991. Surviving her are her children and their spouses. Tom and Martha Hewett of Easton, MD Michael and Maureen Hewett of Mt. Elmer “Pap” Seals, age 62, of Woodbine, died Monday December 31, 2007 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, MD. He was the son of the late Lon Seals and the late Della Seals (nee Boldin). He was born September 12, 1945 in Sneedville, TN. He was a Plumber for Montgomery County Public School Board. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and trips to TN. He was the husband of Nancy Seals (nee Gue). He was the father of Gene Seals and Heather Seals both of Woodbine. He was the brother of Peggy Seals of Frederick, Louise Merson of Frederick, Bobbie Ann Stubblefield of TN and the late Ralph Seals and the late Lena Seals. Edith Ann Gartrell (nee Fleming), age 95, of Wheaton, MD died Monday December 31, 2007 at Lorien Nursing Home in Mt. Airy, MD. She was born February 26, 1912 in Carroll County, MD the daughter of the late Charles A. Fleming and the late Josephine Sellman Fleming. She was the wife of the late Millard M. Gartrell who died in 1973. She was the mother of Ralph M. Gartrell and wife Joan of Rockville and Nancy A. Walther and husband Dan of Monrovia. She was the sister of Ruth L. Conaway of Winfield, and the late Wilbur A. Fleming, late Grace Dorsey, late Floyd C. Fleming, late Walter Fleming and the late Roscoe E. Fleming. Also survived by 4 grandchildren; Timothy & Kathie Gartrell of Wheaton, Robert & Wendy Gartrell of Olney, John & Cheryl Crawford of Hickory, NC and Cindy Crawford of Wheaton.; also survived by 4 great grandchildren. She was a housewife. She was a member of Hughes U.M. Church since 1953; she was active in the United Methodist Women. She worked for Montgomery County Schools as a cafeteria aide from January 1969-January 1971. Harris, Helen V.
Helen Vivian Harris, 84, formerly of District Heights, MD passed away early Christmas morning, 2007. She had come to live with her eldest sons family in Carroll County during 2005. Born May 8, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Margaret ‘Little Grandma’ and Vernon Fowler and was predeceased by loving stepfather Claude Eavey. She was the wife of Ellsworth ‘Midge’ R. Harris who passed away in 1993. She is survived by her children and spouses Vernon L. and Judy Harris of Mt. Airy, Debbie and Michael Hall of Virginia, Ronnie R. Harris of Chambersburg, PA, 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1great great grandchild. A Memorial Service will be held to honor her birthday, prior to her interment in the Cheltenham Veterans cemetery. Wolfe, James T.
James T. Wolfe, age 58, of Westminster, died Saturday January 5, 2008 at his home. He was born September 2, 1949 in Mt. Airy, MD the son of the late Walter Wolfe and the late Charlotte Caswell (nee Hatfield). He was the loving, devoted father of Kelly Wolfe and fiancé Eddie Kriete. He was a long time companion of Lynn Detter. He was an avid hunter and was an assistant guide in Alaska. He had his own home improvement business. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, watching movies, cooking, story telling and trips to Alaska, and spending time with friends and family. Survived by Brother John and Linda Taggart, and Sisters Charlotte Elaine Wolfe and fiancé Robin, and Linda and Steve Riddle, Frances and Doug Middleton and Patricia and James Taggart. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Service will be held Friday January 11, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, PA 1212 W. Leeanna Elizabeth Condon (nee Wright), age 93, of Mt. Airy, died Tuesday January 8, 2008 at Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster, MD. She was born February 12, 1914 in Taylorsville, MD the daughter of the late George Augustus Wright and the late Mary Katherine Wright (nee Reaver). She was a housewife and most important to her was farming and her family. She was the wife of the late Edgar D. Condon, Sr. She was the mother of Edgar D. Condon, Jr. and Agatha Condon both of Mt. Airy, and the late Elizabeth E. Beaty, late Roland E. Condon and the late Harry A. Condon. She was the sister of Minnie Willhide of Manchester. Also survived by 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by 7 brothers, 1 sister, 1 grandchild and 1 great grandchild. Dwight G. Evans (Gregory), 42, of Frederick, MD died on Sat. January 5, 2008. He was born April 9, 1965 in Frederick, MD he was the son of the late Woodland C. Evans, Sr. and the late Olive C. Blair Evans. He is survived by one son, Jacob C. Evans. He will also be missed by two sisters and four brothers, Wanda K. Onderdonk of Frederick, Woodland C. Evans, Jr. of Martinsburg, WV., Flora M. Evans of Frederick, Zachary T. Evans and wife Anita of Frederick, Arnold P. Evans of Frederick, Elvis P. Evans of Frederick, nephews Larry D. Onderdonk, William E. Kruger, III, Kyle A. Kruger, Andrew C. Kruger, Nickolas C. Evans, Brandon A. Evans, great niece Jasmine N. Kruger and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Gregory worked many years as a drywall finisher and painters for Albert Vincent and Son. Many of his recent years he worked as a concrete finisher for Richard Munday of Mt. Airy. He was a laid back free spirited type of guy who loved spending time with friends and family most. He also enjoyed music and outdoor sports such as riding dirt bikes, motorcycles, fishing and paintball. Many memories will also be remembered by his devoted extended family such as the late Danny Merson and family, Richard Munday, Mark Vincent, and Stacey Knott. Perry Jonathan Suter, age 33, of New Windsor, Maryland, died January 11, 2008 at home. Perry wa sthe spouse of Stacey Lea Suter. Perry was born 9/9/74, in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of the late Francis P Suter and Martha M Suter. Perry was employed by Skips Auto Collision. He was very family oriented, loved playing with his children, painting cars and four wheeling. Perry is survived by daughter Alysse M. Suter and son Peter J. (PJ) Suter. He is also survived by brothers Francis P Suter Jr., Phillip Suter, Paul Suter and sister Penni Tyler, and was pre-deceased by brother Peter Suter. Additionally he has 9 nieces and nephews. Elva Madeline Boore Jenkins, 86 of Bedford, PA, died Friday January 11, 2008 at Carroll Hospital Center. She was the spouse of the late Robert Clayton Jenkins, Sr. She was born May 30, 1921 in Bedford, PA the daughter of the late Addison Boore and Late Carrie Pauline Beegle Boore. Mrs. Jenkins was a waitress at the Double T Diner in Ellicott City, MD and also previously worked as a Book Binder at Faccett Publishing in Gaithersburg, MD Surviving her are Daughter Carole Lamb of MT. Airy, MD Daughter and son-in law: Sharon and David Riddle of Woodbine, MD Son Robert Clayton Jenkins, Jr.of Frederick, MD 7 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter, 3 Step-Great Grandchildren, 7 Step-great-great Grandchildren. Jones, Melvin C.
Melvin Charles “ Mel” Jones of Westminster was born February 28, 1917 in Canton, MD His family moved to Baltimore County in 1925 where Mel attended county schools, graduating from Kenwood High School. Mr. Jones began his career at Bethlehem Steel and worked there until World War II broke out. He served five years in the Army and left with the rank of Sergeant. He spent the early years of the war serving with the United States Saving Bonds Military Show that toured the country to encourage the purchase of War Bonds. He was particularly proud of his service in the European Theatre during the last two years of the war. Mr. Jones married
his childhood sweetheart, Louise Blische. Following the war, the couple settled in Baltimore County and Mel resumed his career with Bethlehem Steel. He was eventually promoted into management and served there until his retirement. Following retirement Mr. Jones became involved with senior activities and assumed leadership posts in numerous senior organizations and other community groups. He was also active in supporting the political campaigns of Congresswoman Helen Delich Bentley who became a close friend. The Congresswoman frequently contacted Mr. Jones to get his input regarding key legislation that affected senior citizens. He was active in volunteer work at Franklin Square Hospital, logging more than 1200 hours in the Physical Therapy Department. Mel also gave many hours to the Essex Community College Theatre program. He earned his associate degree from Essex Community College. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife Louise Blische Jones of Westminster, Daughter and son-in-law Dorothy and Robert Furney of Westminster, 3 Grandchildren David and Doug Leasure of MD and Denise Leasure Connolly of Westfield, NY. 5 Great-Grandchildren ranging from age 9 to nine months- Kylan, Cassia, and Khelsa Connolly, Gregory Leasure and Nathaniel Leasure and by two sisters Catherine Thorn and Marie Schehlein and numerous nieces and nephews. Mel Jones led a full and valuable life. He enjoyed people. He was always enthusiastic and outgoing and was well liked by all who came in contact with him. His last few years were spent in the Bonds Forest Assisted living facility where he became a respected friend to the entire staff and other residents. A memorial service will be held Friday January 25, 2008 11 AM at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 7834 Eastern Ave. Baltimore, MD 21224.

Richard Allen Russ, age 62, of Westminster, died Monday January 14, 2008, at his home. He was born June 16, 1945 in Montgomery County, MD the son of the late Norman Alvin Russ Sr. and the late Edith Gertrude Russ (nee Jolley). He was a welder. He was the husband of Phyllis Schultz Russ. He was the father of Edith Louise Russ Marinucci and husband Joseph of Damascus and Patricia Ann Russ Wolford and husband Michael, Sr. of Frederick. Also survived by two grandsons: Michael Layne Wolford, Jr. and Nathan Allen Wolford. Brother of Norman Alvin Russ, Jr. of Edenton, North Carolina. Private Inurnment. James Paul Yeater, 81 of Baltimore, MD formerly of Clarksburg, WV, died Tuesday January 15, 2008 at his daughters home. He was the spouse of the late Lillian Lucille Carter Yeater. He was born January 12, 1927 in Clarksburg, WV the son of the Dewey and Iva Gertrude Heater Yeater. He was a veteran of the US Navy. He was an Administrator and School Teacher in Baltimore County for 25 years. He also taught in WV at The Bridgeport High School. He loved spending time with his family. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and Associate Member of Elders Baptist Church. Surviving him are Daughter and Son-in-law- Lael and Ben Henry of Sykesville. Grandchildren: Ashley and husband Tom Alascia of Westminster, Heather and husband Steven Johnston of Catonsville and Raymond and wife Laura Henry of Parkville.
