Joel S. Chewning, 81, of New Windsor
Joel Storie Chewning, 81, of New Windsor, formerly of Woodlawn, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at Westminster Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Westminster.
Born May 26, 1923, in Dayton, Tenn., she was the wife of Hershel F. Chewning, whom she married
in November 1942.
She had been a legal secretary since graduating from high school. She was employed by Venable, Batcher and Howard prior to retiring in 1988.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are son and daughter-in-law Stephen E. and Donna Chewning of New Windsor; granddaughters Kristine Poorman and Keri Aponte; and great-grandsons Will and Tyler.
A graveside service and inurnment will be held at 2 p.m. today at Woodlawn cemetery, Woodlawn, with the Rev. John Wilbur of St. Paul Episcopal Church, Lisbon, officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association Inc., 1250 Hylan Blvd., Suite 4B, Staten Island, NY 10305.

Geralyn 'Honey' Dowling, 49, of Baltimore
Geralyn "Honey" Dowling, 49, of Baltimore, died unexpectedly Saturday, July 31, 2004, at her home.
Born April 4, 1955, she was the daughter of Helen and Edmund Dowling.
She graduated from University of Maryland, Baltimore County with a degree in political science and from Dundalk Community College with an associate's degree in paralegal studies. Having served more than 20 years with the federal government, she was a former employee of the FBI and had more recently worked at the Department of Justice.
She was generous with local charities and enjoyed playing bingo, solving word puzzles and reading.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are sister Barbara Hughes of Baltimore; sister Janet Dowling of Sykesville; brother Matt Dowling of Westminster; nieces and nephews Erin and Brett Hughes, both of Baltimore, and Jake, Zach and Emily Dowling, all of Westminster.
She was predeceased by brother Edmund Dowling Jr.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Baltimore. Interment will be in New Cathedral cemetery, Baltimore.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Hubbard Funeral Home Inc., 4107 Wilkens Ave., Baltimore.

Alvin T. Flakes Sr., 52, of Westminster
Alvin Theosdis Flakes Sr., 52, of Westminster, died Thursday, July 29, 2004, in Westminster.
Born Aug. 6, 1951, in Mount Dora, Fla., he was the son of James Theodore Flakes and the late Ailleen Stedman. He was the stepson of Jeannette Flakes and the fiance of Marquetta Askew.
He was a graduate of Mount Dora High School in Florida. He was a veteran of the Air Force and was employed as a laborer.
Surviving, in addition to his fiancee, father and stepmother, are children Alvin T. Flakes Jr. of Westminster, Bradley Lott of Pennsylvania, and Naja Nakeita and Jubai Askew, both of Westminster; siblings Valencia Jackson, Anthony Flakes, Tina Flakes, Tashara Flakes, Teresa Salls, Ricardo Stedman, Joyce Stedman, Lewis McClinton and Bertha Monroe; uncle and aunt Richard and Barbara Stedman; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by brother Chico Stedman.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster. Please use the chapel entrance.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Further services and interment will be held in Mount Dora, Fla.
Doris E. Kelly, 67, of Westminster
Doris Evelyn Kelly, 67, of Westminster, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at her home.
Born Aug. 3, 1936, in Spartanburg, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Horis and Ersie Hensley Belcher. She was the wife of the late Ray Antoine Kelly.
She was formerly employed with the Montgomery Ward store. She enjoyed doing cross-stitch and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints.
Surviving are daughters Doris Anna Kelly of Westminster, Cynthia Lynn Kelly of Havre de Grace and Patricia Eileen Kelly of Aberdeen; son Donald Ray Kelly of Westminster; sisters Helen Holden and Jennett Fuller, both of South Carolina; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by daughter Susan Joyce Kelly.
A funeral service will be held at noon Wednesday at the Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, with Bishop Danny Fread officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

Joseph E. King Sr., 76, of Westminster, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at the Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster.
Born April 2, 1928, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Joseph R. and Edna Merryman King. He was the husband of Inah L. Franklin King.
He was a firefighter for the Baltimore City Fire Department for 29 years. He was a member of Retired Baltimore City Fire Association 734.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters Kathleen Pennewell of Florida, L. Denise Swartz of Westminster and Kimberly Judd of Tampa, Fla.; son Joseph E. King Jr. of Parkville; sister Annabelle Dooley of Stevensville; grandchildren Heather Harbin, Thomas, Matthew and Elizabeth Pennewell, Joshua King, Danielle Clark, and Ryan and Jesse Judd; and great-grandchildren Alexander and Gabrielle Harbin and Kobe Pennewell.
Hhe was predeceased by daughter Cynthia Lynn King; and sister Marjorie Garrett.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown, with the Rev. Richard Krebbs officiating. Interment will be in All Saints' cemetery, Reisterstown.

Louisa B. Stewart, 88, formerly of Lutherville, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at the Mariner Nursing Home in Catonsville after an extended illness.
Born Oct. 7, 1915, in Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Irene Nolen Brittingham. She was the wife of Robert W. Stewart, who died in 1996.
She was a teacher in Catholic schools and a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church, Glyndon.
Surviving are sons Robert Stewart of Reisterstown, Andrew Stewart of Durham, N.C., James Stewart of Finksburg, John Stewart of Catonsville and William Stewart of Pittsville; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by son Joseph Stewart.

Born June 29, 1921 in Deep Run, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Bessie Garrett Tasto. She was the wife of Clarence Emphery Baughman Sr.
She was a housewife. She was a member of Lazarus United Church of Christ for the past 42 years.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are son and daughter-in-law Clarence E. and Jackie Lynn Baughman Jr. of Lineboro; daughter and son-in-law Susan Elaine and Ronald Miller of Carlisle, Pa.; and six grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Lazarus United Church of Christ, 5101 S. Church St., Lineboro, with the Rev. Verna Call officiating. Interment will be in the Lineboro Church cemetery.

Marian B. "Puddy" Buckingham, 48, of Westminster, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at the Carroll Hospital Center from an extended illness.
Born May 29, 1956, in Towson, she was the daughter of Helen Virginia Ridgaway Bouis of Westminster and the late Marion Dwight Bouis. She was the wife of Norman B. "Bud" Buckingham Jr., who died in October 2002.
She was the owner of Expert Medical Transcription Inc. She attended St. Matthew's United Church of Christ in Pleasant Valley.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are daughters and son-in-law Alyson "Aly" and Sun Kwon of Clermont, Fla., Alex and Ginger V. Buckingham; and son Trey, all of Westminster; sisters Carolyn Holland-Koontz of Littlestown, Pa., and Claudia "Cookie" Wenzing of Bear, Del.; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, with the Rev. James Mearns officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

93, of Westminster
Melvin Monroe Keefer, 93, of Westminster, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.
Born July 14, 1911, in Westminster, he was the son of the late Thomas M. and Annie Fleagle Keefer. He was the husband of the late Virginia Keefer, who died in 1987.
He was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Mayberry First Church of God.
He is survived by nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Mayberry First Church of God cemetery, 2428 Mayberry Road, Westminster, with the Rev. Robert Wills Jr. officiating.
There will be no viewing or visitation.

Edward Kehoe Jr., 79, formerly of Westminster
Edward Kehoe Jr., 79, of Morgan's Point, Texas, formerly of Westminster, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at Clear Lake Hospital in Texas.
Born June 22, 1925, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Edward Kehoe Sr. and Madeline Masscott Kehoe. He was the husband of Merle Reaver Kehoe.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He worked for Westminster Coca-Cola Bottling Co. and also for South Mechanical in Baltimore. He was a life member of the VFW Molleville Farm Post 467, the American Legion Carroll Post 31 and the Westminster Moose Lodge No. 1381.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son and daughter-in-law William E. and Lillian Kehoe of Fort Myers, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law Bonnie Jean and Ron Natole of Morgan's Point, Texas; brothers Thomas and Richard Kehoe of Westminster; sister Mary Madeline Leppo of Union Mills; grandchildren Travis Kehoe and Sherry Brown; and great-grandchildren Zachary Desiletts, Savanah Brown and Bella and Braum Kehoe.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg, with the Rev. John C. Morrill officiating.
