James T. McGregor, 60, of Westminster

James Thomas McGregor, 60, of Westminster, died Saturday morning, July 31, 2004, at his residence, after an extended illness.

Born July 27, 1944, in Dorsey, he was the son of the late Howard McGregor and Helen Cassady Price. He was the husband of Mary E. McGregor, his wife of 36 years, whom he married July 31, 1968.

He was employed with Howard County Public Schools from 1975 to 1999 and was principal of Glenelg High School from 1990 to 1999, when he retired. He also coached baseball, football and basketball.

He graduated from Mount St. Joe High School in 1962 and was a graduate of Mayville State College. He was a member of Grace Fellowship Chapel in Westminster.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters and son-in-law Nichole and Bob Ballard of New Windsor and Terah McGregor of Arnold; son and daughter-in-law Scott and Christina McGregor of Sykesville; brothers David McGregor of New Windsor, Kenneth Price of Baltimore, Larry Price of Florida and Michael Price of Glen Burnie; sisters Terry Werner of Garry Werner of Gambrills and Lisa Price of West Virginia; grandchildren Gunther and Kelsey Spriggs and Delaney Ballard.

He was predeceased by his aunt, Belle Cassady.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Grace Fellowship Chapel, 20 Bell Road, Westminster, with his pastor, the Rev. Ralf H. Nies, officiating. Interment will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to Carroll Hospice, 95 Carroll St., Westminster, MD 21157 or to the Grace Fellowship Chapel Benevolence Fund, 20 Bell Road, Westminster, MD 21158.

Catherine B. Nusbaum, 88, of Westminster

Catherine B. Nusbaum, 88, of Westminster, died Thursday evening, July 29, 2004, at Fairhaven Nursing Home in Sykesville.

Born May 18, 1916, in Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Foster L. and Emma J. Erb Nusbaum.

She was retired from American Hammer & Piston Ring, Baltimore, where she worked on the grinder assembly line. She was a member of St. Benjamin's (Krider's) Lutheran Church.

Surviving is her sister, Ethel M. Bell of Westminster; two nephews and a niece.

She was predeceased by brother Carroll B. Nusbaum.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, with her pastor, the Rev. David S. Schafer, officiating. Interment will be in St. Benjamin's (Krider's) Lutheran Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.

Viola B. Robertson, 83, of New Windsor

Viola B. Robertson, 83, of New Windsor, died Saturday morning July 31, 2004, at Bayview Medical Center, after a brief illness.

Born March 22, 1921 in Pensacola, Fla., she was the daughter of the late John F. Crissinger and Mae Maureen Myers Crissinger. She was the wife of Russell T. Robertson, who died May 12, 1983.

She was a graduate of Westminster High School and member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 897 in Westminster. She enjoyed arts and crafts, country music, painting and photography.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-laws J. Monroe and Genny Robertson of Spring Grove, Pa., Bruce R. and Linda Robertson of Westminster; daughters and sons-in-laws Carole M. and Jim Shuffler of New Windsor, Doris V. and Stewart Herbst of Westminster, Pat D. and Rick Angell of Taneytown; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister, Lillian Little.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Wese Rev. Gary Buchman, pastor of Taneytown Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Uniontown Lutheran cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.

Hattie M. Staub, 87, of Westminster

Hattie Margaret Staub, 87, of Westminster, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at the Westminster Nursing and Rehabilitative Center, after an extended illness.

Born Feb. 18, 1917, in Hobart, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John A. and Sarah M. Dubs Wildasin. She was the wife of the late Clarence Harold Staub who died in 1997.

She was a lifelong member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Bachman's Valley, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Sunday school and the LCWA. She was a charter member and chaplain of the Sulphur Springs Lions Club, New Windsor.

Surviving are her sisters Daisy Feeser of Westminster and Romaine Hare of Florida; brother and sister-in-law Walter W. and Ruth Wildasin of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; and son-in-law Fred Anthony of Spring Grove, Pa.

She was predeceased by a daughter Patsy Anthony in 1983; sisters Martha Woodward and Jean Becker and Jean Becker and brother Roy Wildasin.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 310 Church St., New Windsor with her pastor, the Rev. Stacy Marsh, officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery, Gettysburg, Pa.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mildred 'Mickie' D. White, 83, of Westminster

Mildred "Mickie" Day White, 83, of Westminster, formerly of Woodlawn, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster.

Born Feb. 21, 1921, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Madison and Katherine Huson Day. She was the wife of the late George A. White Jr.

She was a church secretary at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Rockdale, working with the Rev. Donald Haas. She was a veteran of the US Army and served as a WAC during World War II. She worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for almost 20 years before retiring. She also helped the Rev. David Schaffer at St. Benjamin's Church in Westminster and the Rev. Jimmi Schwartz at Carroll Lutheran Village where she was a resident for the last 14 years.

She was a member of VFW 521, Owings Millslling jokes.

Surviving her are sister-in-law Toni Day of Delmar, Calif.; nephew Kevin Day of Solana Beach, Calif.; niece Robin Edwards of San Bernardino, Calif.; one great nephew and two great nieces.

She was predeceased by her brother Robert E. Lee Day.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. today at Krug Chapel and Auditorium, Carroll Lutheran Village, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster. Inurnment will be in Kriders cemetery, Westminster.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Benjamin's Lutheran Church, 700 Kriders cemetery Road, Westminster, MD 21157 or to Carroll Lutheran Village, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster MD 21158.

Arrangements are being handled by Burrier-Queen Funeral Home and Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield.

Claretta E. Yingling, 70, of Finksburg

Claretta Eyler Yingling, 70, of Finksburg, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at her residence after a brief illness.

Born May 3, 1934 in Finksburg, she was the daughter of the late Sherman P. Eyler and Holace Herbert Eyler. She was the wife of Clifford F. Yingling, her husband of 52 years.

She worked at Murphy's Five & Dime as head clerk and Rosenstocks in the accounting department.

She was a member and church historian of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Finksburg and was a member of Caring Friends Group. She decorated the church during the year and was involved in many other church activities. She attended Westminster High School and was an instructor of traditional arts at the Carroll County Farm Museum teaching stenciling and floor cloths. She was a member of the Good Wives Craft Group and her hobbies included needlepoint, quilting, basketry and wreath making.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are son and daughter-in-law David H. and K. Tracey Yingling of Finksburg; brother and sister-in-law Herbert P. and Joanne Eyler of Finksburg; grandchildren Logan J., Matthew D. and Daniel F. Yingling, all of Finksburg; brother-in-law and sister-in-law William G. and Marguerite Yingling of Sykesville; nieces Sally Thomas and Nancy Bainbridge; and nephews Lynn Eyler, Herbert P. Eyler II and William N. Yingling.

She was predeceased by sister Mary Lee Eyler.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster, with her pastors, the Rev. Robert G. Whiting and Rev. Ellen Dize, officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Virginia G. Anshel, 73, of Reisterstown

Virginia G. Anshel, 73, of Reisterstown, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at Northwest Hospital Center in Randallstown.

Born Sept. 18, 1930, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Julia Kowalski. She was the wife of Charles J. Anshel.

She was a cashier at a drug store.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are son Leonard Inouye of Bel Air; daughters Sandra Anshel Timberlake of Essex and Michelle Anshel Sizemore of Parkville; sisters Ce Bobart of Baltimore, Marie Jakobowski of Baltimore and Jeanette Parker of Abbottstown; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Fred Lieb Sr., 92, of Thurmont

Fred Lieb Sr., 92, of Thurmont, formerly of Keymar and Emmitsburg, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at his home of sudden kidney failure.

Born June 5, 1912 in Dettingen, Germany, he was the husband of Frieda Kaiser Lieb, whom he married Sept. 27, 1939.

He immigrated to the United States in 1914. After spending his youth on a farm in Carroll County, Iowa, he and his family moved to ar, where he was a dairy farmer until 1974.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children Myra Miller of Thurmont, John Lieb of Hanover, Pa., Linda Curl of Riedsville, Ga., Lore Knouse of Brimfield, Mass., and Fred Lieb Jr. of Westminster; 11 grandsons; one granddaughter; ten great-grandchildren; one niece; one nephew and cousins.

He was predeceased by daughter Loretta Reifsnider, who died Jan. 13, 1999, and sister Pauline Steffen.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at Graceham Moravian Church, 8231-A Rocky Ridge Road, Thurmont. Private interment was in Keysville Union cemetery, Keymar.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, Attn: Donation Department, P.O. Box 96280, Washington, D.C. 20090.

Funeral arrangements were made by Skiles Funeral Home, Taneytown.

Mary E. Miller, 88, of Westminster

Mary Elizabeth Miller, 88, of Westminster, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at the Chapel Hill Nursing Center in Randallstown.

Born April 21, 1916, in the Bronx, New York, she was the daughter of the late John and Ellen O'Sullivan Finn. She was the wife of the late Joseph P. Miller.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. John Catholic Church.

Surviving are sons Edward J. Miller and Brian J. Miller, both of Absccon, N.J.; daughters and sons-in-law Dolores and Earl Bennett of Aiken, S.C., and Maureen and John Stephens of Westminster; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by sister Cecilia P. O'Carm.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday morning at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Whiting, N.J. Interment will be in Whiting Memorial park.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Anderson & Campbell funeral home, 115 Lacey Road, Whiting.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John Building Fund, 43 Monroe St., Westminster, MD 21157.

Local arrangements are by Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.
