Warren H. Axline
BRUNSWICK, Md. - Warren Harding Axline, 76, of 39 E. B St., died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998.
Born Feb. 14, 1921, in Brunswick, he was the son of the late Walter and Anna Routzahn Axline.
He worked as a machinist on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad in Brunswick from 1938 to 1959. Until his retirement in 1979, he was employed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency in Berryville, Va. After retirement, he volunteered at Brunswick Elementary School and Maryland State Police Barracks B, Frederick, Md.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Brunswick.
He was a member of Brunswick Lodge 191 AF&A Masons; Ali Ghan Shrine Temple in Cumberland; Frederick Keystone Kopps Unit; Hagerstown Shrine Club of the Ali Ghan Temple, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry 32nd degree, Baltimore, and Scottish Rite of Freemasonry 18th degree, Frederick.
He was a life member and past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10421, Brunswick. He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1582, Brunswick; Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1136; and Brunswick American Legion Post 96.
He is survived by his wife, Emma Copeland Axline; a daughter, Vicki Dianne Bolen of Rosemont, W.Va.; a granddaughter, Leslie Bolen of Rosemont; and a grandson, Brian Bolen of Rosemont.
He was preceded in death by a half brother, Marlow Thompson.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick. The Rev. Robert M. McCullough will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, where Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. The funeral home will be open today from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. for the convenience of friends.

Doris M. Cross
Doris Marie Cross, 70, of 12806 The Terrace, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born April 28, 1927, in Minburn, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late George Alvey and Lela Mae Harshman Churchey.
She was a member of First Christian Church, where she was a member of Eveready Sunday School Class and Abigail Circle of Christian Women's Fellowship.
She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Morris Frock Post 42.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Leon W. Cross; one daughter, Brenda Kay Fleming of Westminster, Md.; and one brother, Arthur M. Churchey of Hagerstown.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Geraldine E. Shingleton, Loleta V. Snapp and Peggy J. Churchey; and three brothers, Harold L. Churchey, Cecil C. Churchey and Alvey L. Churchey.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at First Christian Church, 1345 Potomac Ave., Hagerstown. The Rev. Fred M. Harris and the Rev. Robert L. Regenold will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.

Woodrow W. Bloyer
BIG POOL - Woodrow Wilson Bloyer, 79, of Big Pool, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 8, 1919, in Maryland, he was the son of the late John H. Bloyer and Nannie M. Repp Bloyer.
He retired from Grand Union Supermarkets as a frozen food and dairy manager after 25 years.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel R. Weller Bloyer; two sisters, Louise Baker of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Ruth Hale of Texas; one brother, Kenneth Bloyer of Biglerville, Pa.; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Carbaugh and Lillian Gossard; and three brothers, John Bloyer, William Bloyer and George Bloyer.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Donald E. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. The Rev. Robert E. Timmons will officiate. Burial will be in Parkhead Cemetery in Big Pool.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Marvin C. Demory
Marvin Charles Demory, 57, of 613 Frederick St., Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at his home.
Born March 17, 1940, in Middleway, W.Va., he was the son of Edith V. Milburn Demory of Charles Town, W.Va., and the late Lester G. Demory.
His former wife, Janice D. Demory, died in 1985.
He was employed by Eastalco.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of AMVETS Post 10.
He is survived by his wife, Janice M. Demory; one daughter, Betti J. Demory, at home; two stepdaughters, Brenda Wyand of Greencastle, Pa., and Tonya Dorsey of Martinsburg, W.Va.; two stepsons, Doug Penwell of Pennsylvania and Rich Young of Hagerstown; two sisters, Ruby Lewis and Emma Shade, both of Martinsburg; three brothers, John Demory and George Demory of Kearneysville, W.Va., and Frances Demory of Staunton, Va.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchildren; seven nieces; and seven nephews.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Gary Wayne Getridge will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Anna K. Cunningham
CLEAR SPRING - Anna Kathryn Cunningham, 72, of 13144 Goldizen Lane, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 21, 1925, in Greencastle, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John M. and Rhoda Angle Straley.
She was a 1944 graduate of Greencastle High School.
She was a retired employee of Western Maryland Center; and a part-time employee of Homewood Nursing Home.
She was a member of Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 Auxiliary; Women of the Moose; AARP; and Hits and Misses Bowling League.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Lowery Cunningham of Baltimore; five sons, Richard Lynn Cunningham and Jerry L. Cunningham, both of Hagerstown, Jack Owen Cunningham of Clear Spring, Thomas A. Cunningham of Rouzerville, Pa., and Frederick N. Cunningham of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and 11 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Eric Cunningham; and a sister, Doris Straley.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home Chapel, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Terry Foor will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
Viewing will be Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Jacob G. Ridenour
LEITERSBURG - Jacob G. "Jake" Ridenour, 62, of Leiters Mill Road, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born July 14, 1935, near Smithsburg, he was the son of the late Jacob Guy Ridenour Sr. and Mary L. Wolfinger Ridenour Grove.
He attended Smithsburg schools and was a 1953 graduate of Hagerstown High School.
He served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was employed by Graphics Universal Inc., Greencastle, Pa.; and formerly by service stations in Hagerstown; Fleigh Motors, Hagerstown; American Finance Co., Hagerstown and Charles Town, W.Va.; and Double-Day Co., Smithsburg.
He was a member of Mount Moriah Lutheran Church, Foxville, Pa.; where he served on the church council.
He was a member of Morris Frock Post 42, Hagerstown; past member of Moose Club 212; and Boy Scouts of America.
He is survived by his wife, Joan V. Fox Ridenour; one daughter, Janice L. Ridenour of Foxville, one son, Jerry L. Ridenour of Gaithersburg; one sister, Janet L. DeLauter of Ringgold, Md.; twin sister, Mary Belle Perry of Chambersburg, Pa.; one grandson; stepmother, Geneva Ridenour of Waynesboro; half sister, Linda Stains of Waynesboro; and half brother, Steven Ridenour of Fayetteville.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Ave., Smithsburg. The Rev. Julie Brigham will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Lutheran Cemetery, Foxville, with military services by Morris Frock Post 42.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ruth A. Jackson
THURMONT, Md. - Ruth Amanda Jackson, 93, of 21 Howard St., and formerly of Myersville, Md., died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, at Frederick Healthcare Center.
Born April 17, 1904, in Myersville, she was the daughter of the late John Nicholas and Mary Frances Ford Adkins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Frederick Jackson, in 1959.
She was a member of Harmony Church of the Brethren, Myersville for 75 years.
She is survived by one daughter, Helen I. Shank of Thurmont; one son, James N. Jackson of Myersville; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Elsie M. Leatherman and Mary V. Weddle.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Harmony Church of the Brethren, Myersville. The Rev. Tracy L. Wiser, her pastor, and the Rev. Ronald A. Beverlin, pastor of Grossnickle Church of the Brethren, Myersville, will officiate. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, Myersville.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and anytime Monday at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown, Md.; and Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the church. The family will receive friends Sunday and Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Myra L. Horst
MAUGANSVILLE - Myra Leona Horst, 61, of 13739 Village Mill Drive, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born March 2, 1936, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Rebecca Verdier Rock.
She was employed with Farmers Market in Baltimore; and previously with Waynesboro Laundry.
She is survived by her husband, Charles K. Horst Jr.; one daughter, Teresa A. Decker of Martinsburg, W.Va.; two sons, Charles K. Horst Sr. of Falling Waters, W.Va., and Paul D. Horst of Hagerstown; two sisters, Connie Sprankle of Waynesboro and Jean Mentzer of Chambersburg, Pa.; two brothers, William "Bill" Rock and Ronald Rock, both of Waynesboro; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Hardman.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Henry Marquiss will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Church Cemetery in Quincy, Pa.

Kathy J. Shepherd
Kathy Jean Shepherd, 34, of 1149 Beechwood Drive, Hagerstown, died Friday, Feb. 13, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born March 3, 1963, in Pikesville, Md., she was the daughter of William F. and Jean W. Levey Dunham of Hagerstown.
She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church.
Graveside services will be held Monday at the convenience of the family at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown. The Rev. Andrew S. Mohl will officiate.
Arrangements are by Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown.
