John A. Stoutamyer
John A. Stoutamyer, 70, of 17739 Burnside Ave., Hagerstown, died Monday, Jan. 5, 1998, at his home.
Born June 21, 1927, in Winchester, Va., he was the son of the late Frank A. and Mae Smith Stoutamyer.
He was a 1949 graduate of Randolph Macon College.
He was employed by Maryland Metals Inc. and retired in 1992 after 20 years.
A U.S. Navy veteran, he served during World War II. A veteran of the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Elks Lodge 378, Funkstown American Legion Post 211 and North American Rod and Gun Club.
He is survived by his wife, Jean L. Stoutamyer; one son, Eric Stoutamyer of Melbourne, Fla.; two sisters, Joan Mullins of Front Royal, Va., and Joyce Freeman of Portland, Ore.; one brother, Julian Stoutamyer of Bradenton, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Mark Sandell will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service at the funeral home Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 322 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown, Md. 21740.
Barbara E. Price
BALTIMORE - Barbara E. Morningstar Price, 67, of Baltimore, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at Johns Hopkins Bayview Hospital, Baltimore.
Born Sept. 30, 1930, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Nettie McCauley Strawderman.
She retired from Handy and Harmon Auto Division Plant, Berkeley County, W.Va.
She was a member of Union of Handy and Harmon.
She is survived by two daughters, Jo-Ann Burton of Baltimore and Jeannie M. Kneisly of Martinsburg; one son, Samuel R. Morningstar of Martinsburg; one brother, Henry A. Strawderman Sr. of Baltimore; Maudie Murphy of Martinsburg and Joan Tobin of Berkeley County, who were raised as her sisters; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Craig; two brothers, William L. Kendrick and Richard L. Kendrick; and Catherine Davis, who was raised as her sister.
Burial will be private in Rosedale Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel, 2060 Rosedale Cemetery Road, Martinsburg.
A fellowship with refreshments will be held at the home of Jeannie Kneisly Friday at 1 p.m.

Clarence H. Clark Sr.
FUNKSTOWN - Clarence H. "Jim" Clark Sr., 69, of 10 W. Poplar St., died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at his home.
Born Feb. 18, 1928, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Victor Preston and Mary May Hawbaker Clark.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ruth Lininger Clark, in 1986.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He retired from Maryland State Roads Department.
He is survived by one daughter, Linda M. Wagner of Hagerstown; one son, Clarence H. "Jim" Clark Jr. of Warfordsburg, Pa.; two sisters, Hilda B. Gasch of College Park, Md., and Joyce M. Blickenstaff of Hagerstown; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by one son, Victor Preston Clark II; and his stepfather, William Tedrick.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Darrell Layman will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
V. Jane Hullinger
V. Jane Hullinger, 63, of 18539 Orchard Hills Parkway, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Nov. 9, 1934, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late John B. and Olive E. Cunningham Weaver.
She was employed by the Washington County Board of Education as a secretary at Western Heights Middle School, retiring in 1991, after 25 years.
She was a member of the Washington County Retired Secretaries Association.
She was a volunteer at St. Mark's Lutheran Church Food Bank.
She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Hullinger; two daughters, Samantha Frey of State College, Pa., and Sue Boscardin of Lake Orion, Mich.; six sons, Kurt Scherlinsky of Camp Hill, Pa., Steven Hullinger of Reston, Va., Gregory Hullinger of Titusville, Fla., Daniel Hullinger, Ronald Hullinger and Donald Hullinger, all of Hagerstown; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Byers and Elizabeth Weaver; and a brother, Charles H. Weaver.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Ted J. Plott will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

Robert C. Hoffman
Robert Cecil "Red" Hoffman, 74, of 500 Indiana Ave., Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at his home.
Born May 23, 1923, in West Palm Beach, Fla., he was the son of the late Anson Ellesmere and Annie Maude Harbour Hoffman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Golden Hoffman, in 1983.
A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, he served during World War II.
He formerly was employed with Beachley Furniture; Fairchild Aircraft; and later owned and operated Red's Twin Kiss Restaurant, from 1957 to 1979.
He was a member of Washington Square United Methodist Church and attended Hagerstown Church of the Brethren.
He was a member of United Commercial Travelers 311; Moose Lodge 2435; Elks Lodge 378; AARP; South Mountain Rod and Gun Club; Williamsport Red Men Tribe 84; West Hagerstown Lions Club; and Funkstown American Legion Post 211.
He is survived by two daughters, Cynthia S. Koontz and Dawn Michelle Tice, both of Hagerstown; one son, Robert Scott Hoffman Sr. of Hagerstown; two sisters, Rose Eve Davis of Covington, Ga., and Mary A. Knowles of Lakeland, Fla.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Johnson; and two brothers, William G. Hoffman and Arthur Hoffman.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Dean Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

Samuel Liston
WILLIAMSPORT - Samuel Liston, 82, of 28 S. Conococheague St., died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 26, 1915, in Alexandra, W.Va., he was the son of the late Jackson Leonard and Daisy May Cutright Liston.
He was employed with W.D. Byron Tannery, Williamsport, retiring in 1979.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II in the Pacific Theater, where he received five Bronze Stars.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by one nephew, Bob Liston of Hampton, Va.; a great-nephew, Charles Brown III of Williamsport; other nieces and nephews; and other great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Licky Liston, Florence Liston and Blanche Rice; and two brothers, Lenny Liston and Dallas Liston.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. W. Gregory Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will be open Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the convenience of family and friends.

William A. Hazlett
WILLIAMSPORT - William Alexander Hazlett, 83, of 154 N. Artizan St., died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at Williamsport Nursing Home.
Born June 18, 1914, in Tarentum, Pa., he was the son of the late Adam J. and Rachel Witherow Skelly Hazlett.
He was a graduate of Johns Hopkins University.
He was a retired employee of LTV Corp., formerly known as J&L Steel.
He was a member of Junior Birdman and Kiwanis Club.
He was of the Unitarian religion.
He is survived by one cousin, Warner Marshall of Midlothian, Va.
Services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.
