Virginia W. Mowery
Virginia W. Mowery, 80, of 213 Norway Ave., Hagerstown, died Friday, Dec. 12, 1997, at Colton Villa Nursing Center in Hagerstown.
Born July 4, 1917, in Petersburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late George W. and Essy W. Feaster Shook.
Her husband, Walter S. Mowery, died in 1975.
She is survived by one daughter, Brenda M. Wilson of Hagerstown; two sons, Richard A. Mowery of Hagerstown, and Issac L. Mowery of Hagerstown; two sisters, Mary Lemon of Harmons, Md., and Georgia Shook of Cumberland, Md.; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Betty Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m.
Edwin K. Jones Sr.
ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The Rev. Edwin Kenneth Jones Sr., of 178 Ollie Weaver Road, died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, at Memorial Mission Hospital.
Born in Altoona, Pa., he was the son of the late Oscar O. and Catherine Rowe Jones.
He retired from Oak Hill Wesleyan Church as a Wesleyan Minister in 1990 and he retired from the Western Maryland Railroad.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Naomi Kathryn Hege Jones; one daughter, Karen Angela King of Weaverville; three sons, Edwin Kenneth Jones Jr. of Ashboro, N.C., Terry Lee Jones of Brandenburg, Ky., and Gerald Dennis Jones of Nairobi, Africa; one adopted son, Donat Robitaille of Owasso, Okla.; one sister, Grace Mayhue of Hagerstown; four brothers, Albert Jones, Harry Jones, Oscar Jones, and Lloyd Jones, all of Hagerstown; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Charlotte Kathryn Robitaille.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. William H. Stoner Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Willadean V. Gregory
COLUMBIA, Md. - Willadean Velda Gregory, 75, of Columbia, and formerly of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, at Howard General Hospital, Columbia.
Born Nov. 9, 1922, in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Hammond and Rachel Ardella Elizabeth McCoy Spielman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Joseph "Sam" Gregory Sr., in 1980.
She was a 1940 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School.
From 1944 to 1970, she and her husband owned and operated Sam's New Market in Washington, D.C. In recent years, she had been a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Berkeley Springs.
She was a member of Howard County Senior Citizens Group at Morningside, Columbia.
She is survived by one daughter, Theresa Ann Burdine of Van Nuys, Calif.; one son, Herbert Joseph "Sam" Gregory Jr. of Columbia; one sister, Genevieve Irene Ambrose of Berkeley Springs; one brother, Gerald Lee Spielman of Dundalk, Md.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Peter Spielman.
Funeral liturgy will be celebrated today at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 116 S. Washington St., Berkeley Springs. The Rev. John S. Ledford will be celebrant. Burial will be in Greenway Cemetery, Berkeley Springs.
The family will receive friends today from 10 to 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs.

Harriett N. K. Hoover
FREDERICK, Md. - Harriett Nelson Kreh Hoover, 77, of Frederick, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born March 12, 1920, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Charles Herbert and Susan Nelson Cramer Kreh.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Harold Hoover, in 1986.
She worked as a guide for the Tourism Council.
She was an active member of Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was on the Altar Guild.
She was a member of Womens Civic Club; Ladies Auxiliary to the Francis Scott Key American Legion; DAR; Frederick Art Club; Frederick County Historical Society; and Washington County Museum of Fine Arts. She was a volunteer of the Great Frederick Fair.
She is survived by three daughters, Marty Mercer, Judy Nuse and Jane Haller, all of Frederick; one son, Bill Hoover of Bear, Del.; one brother, William Kreh of Frederick; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Christine Stuart and Dorothy Lassetter.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Memorial services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church, 33 E. Church St., Frederick. The Rev. David G. Oravec and the Rev. W. Philip Fogarty, pastors of the church, will officiate. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Jane E. Hoffman
Jane Elizabeth Hoffman, 44, of 1384 Marshall St., Potomac Center, Hagerstown, died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born March 20, 1953, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Doris A. McCauley Hoffman of Hagerstown, and the late Jacob Lee Hoffman, who died in 1989.
She was a member of Salem Reformed Church.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by one sister, Barbara Ann Hoffman of Winchester, Va.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Lee Hoffman; maternal grandparents, Ralph and Mary McCauley; and paternal grandparents, Roy L. and Alethea Hoffman.
Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. J. Clark Hayes will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

Thomas H. Snyder
Thomas H. "Hardie" Snyder, 80, of 112 Sunflower Drive, Hagerstown, who died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in the Fourth Armored Division of General Patton.
Henry Lockley
Henry Lockley, 66, of 329 Henry Ave., Hagerstown, died Dec. 14, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born in Winchester, Va., he was the stepson of David Carroll of Chambersburg, Pa., and the son of the late Emma Lockley Carroll.
He graduated from North Street School.
He was employed for many years by the Hager House and Alexander Hotel.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1952 and the U.S. Air Force, receiving a honorable discharge in 1957. He received a Japan Occupation Medal, Korean Service Medal, and two Bronze Stars.
He was a member of Charles Harden American Legion Post 74 and American Legion Post 42.
He is survived by aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Calvary Temple Apostolic Church. District Elder Fred McCoy will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Viewing will be Thursday at noon at the church.

Marianna N. White
WILLIAMSPORT - Marianna N. White, 92, of 16505 Virginia Ave., died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, at Homewood, Frederick, Md.
Born June 12, 1905, in Lincoln County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Anderson R. and Anna T. Nunnelley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Everett White, in 1994.
She was a teacher of the deaf, serving on the faculties of schools for the deaf in several states and the District of Columbia.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Margaret A. Oberlander of Virginia Beach, Va.; one son, William A. White of Frederick; and three grandchildren, Andrew White of Frederick, Linda Dowdy of Richmond, Va., and Alan Oberlander of Virginia Beach.
Graveside services will be private and at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Blaine Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Ruby D. Binkley
CLEAR SPRING - Ruby Denise Martin Binkley, 65, of 13530 Mercersburg Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 1997, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born May 27, 1932, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Albert and Mary Kathryn Tewalt Martin.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, where she was Sunday school librarian. She was active with the junior choir and was a member of the adult choir.
She was a former associate of Clear Spring Ambulance Club; and volunteered with the American Red Cross as a first aid and CPR instructor.
She is survived by her husband, Dale E. Binkley; one daughter, Denise E. Binkley of Clear Spring; two sons, Dennis Everett Binkley of Edgewood, Md., and Donald Eugene Binkley of Mercersburg, Pa.; one sister, Edith Keefer of Hagerstown; one brother, Ronald Benedict of Frederick, Md.; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, J. Edward Benedict.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Donald E. Thompson Funeral Home, 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. The Rev. Richard P. Yates and the Rev. J. Clark Hayes will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
