William C. Grimm
William Cole Grimm, 87, of 17721 Garden Spot Drive, Hagerstown, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Sept. 22, 1909, in Buckhannon, W.Va., he was the son of the late Dr. Wilson and Minnie Jane Wingfield Grimm.
He received his master's degree from West Virginia University.
He was a retired teacher with Washington County Board of Education, retiring in 1975 after teaching at Grantsville, Clear Spring and Smithsburg high schools.
He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church.
He also was a member of Kiwanis Club, Maryland State Retired Teachers Association, BPO Elks 378 and AARP.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Keefe Grimm; one daughter, Anne Grimm Newkirk of Midlothian, Va.; one son, William C. Grimm Jr. of Hagerstown; one sister, Ina L. Grimm of Buckhannon; one grandson; and one niece.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 1525 Oak Hill Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Edward Manalis as celebrant.
A viewing will be at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association, 322-324 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown, Md. 21740.
Frances L. Collins
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Frances Lane Collins, 80, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 1997, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
Born March 6, 1917, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Kelly E. and Edna Lavina Snyder Holliday.
Her husband, William Arthur Collins, preceded her in death.
She retired from Interwoven Mills.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
She also was a member of Newton D. Baker Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 896 Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 14 and Women of the Moose Martinsburg Lodge 120.
She is survived by six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Phyllis Ann Collins Case; and one brother, John Holliday.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg. The Rev. Robert S. Hill Jr. will officiate.
The family will receive friends at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Michael F. Clark
Michael Forrest Clark, 62, of 141 King St., Hagerstown, died Friday, Sept. 5, 1997, at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, Md. He was a guest at College View Center in Frederick.
Born Aug. 1, 1935, in Keyser, W.Va., he was the son of the late Walter Forrest and Marie Antionette Walsh Clark Sr.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Calvary Brethren Church in Keyser.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly J. King Clark, whom he married Sept. 5, 1959; and one son, Michael Shawn Clark of Hagerstown.
Private graveside services will be at the convenience of the family in Rest Haven Cemetery
in Hagerstown. The Rev. Richard A. Wilson will officiate.

Marquis J. Humelsine
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Marquis J. "Mark" Humelsine, 85, of 101 N. Prince St., Apartment 307, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 1997, at The Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.
Born Sept. 7, 1911, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late O.C. and Florence Baker Humelsine.
His wife, Verna Burkholder Humelsine, died in 1981.
He was a 1930 graduate of Chambersburg High School.
He was owner and operator of the former Humelsine Shoe Store in Chambersburg for 32 years, retiring in 1978.
He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during the early 1930s as an aircraft mechanic.
He was a member of Prince Street United Brethren Church in Shippensburg and the Men's Bible Class.
He also was a member of Gideons International, AARP and Childrens Bible Ministry, where he served on the executive board for Franklin County.
He is survived by one daughter, Patricia Wilson of Chambersburg; a special friend, Mildred G. Shoemaker of Shippensburg; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one stepgrandchild; and three step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, James M. Humelsine; three sisters and one brother.
Services will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Garry L. Culler and the Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery
in Chambersburg.
A viewing will be at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Elizabeth F. Price
Elizabeth F. Price, 80, of 12 S. Walnut St., Hagerstown, died Friday, Sept. 5, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Sept. 14, 1916, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Seibert Irvin and Mary Ellen Williams Hoffman.
Her husband, Mervil Leon Price Sr., died in 1987.
She was a retired employee of Western Maryland Hospital Center.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Sheila E. Barthlow of Concord, N.H., and Martha F. Wilson of Hagerstown; four sons, Mervil L. Price Jr. and Larry I. Price Sr., both of Hagerstown, Gary M. Price Sr. of Fairplay, and James F. Price of Herndon, Va.; two sisters, Viola Stevens of Baltimore, and Rachael Draper of Hagerstown; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Monroe Hoffman and Donald Hoffman.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert S. Barton will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Stanley M. Kendall
KINGSVILLE, Md. - Stanley McKaig "Pud" Kendall, 76, of 11716 Mohr Road, Kingsville, died Friday, Sept. 5, 1997, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Baltimore.
Born Aug. 17, 1921, in Smithsburg, he was the son of the late Llewellyn McKaig and Mary Speed Kendall.
For the last 18 years, he refinished and sold antiques with his son, Dennis Kendall at Kendall's Antiques in Jacksonville, Md.
He enjoyed the Baltimore Orioles and was an avid bird watcher.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army Air Force. He received the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon and the World War II Victory Ribbon.
He was a member of Grossnickle Church of the Brethren in Myersville, Md.
He was also a member of American Legion Post 168 in Thurmont, Md., and South Mountain Rod and Gun Club in Smithsburg.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Blickenstaff Kendall; two sons, Dennis Kendall of Hydes, Md., and Eugene Kendall of Dundalk, Md.; two sisters, Bertha Leisinger of Smithsburg, and Ruth Moser of Middletown, Md.; three brothers, Walter Kendall and Russell Kendall, both of Waynesboro, Pa., and Frederick Kendall of Colorado; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Grossnickle Church of the Brethren in Myersville. The Rev. Ronald A. Beverlin will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Ricketts Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Myersville, today from 7 to 9 p.m.
Omer Miller
SMITHSBURG - Omer "Junie" Miller, 73, of Foxville Road, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 1997, at University Hospital in Baltimore.
Born Sept. 20, 1923, in Pleasant Valley near Smithsburg, he was the son of the late J. Omer and Abbie T. Himes Miller.
He was employed with Western Maryland Railway, Fairchild Aircraft and Mack Trucks, retiring in 1977.
He served in the European Theater, Pacific Theater and American Theater during World War II with the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine A. Leiboldt Miller; three sons, Ronald L. Miller, Gary W. Miller and Philip E. Miller, all of Smithsburg; and six grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg. Pastor Jonathan D. Laye will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Orville S. Wells
GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Orville S. "Short" Wells, 85, of 50 S. Ridge Ave., died Saturday, Sept. 6, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.
Born Aug. 6, 1912, in Guilford Township, Pa., he was the son of the late George B. and Margie Yaukey Wells.
His first wife, Ruth A. Wells, died in 1962.
Early in life, he worked at Landis Tool Co. in Waynesboro. He retired from T.B. Woods Co. in Chambersburg in 1974, after 26 years of service. He also worked part-time at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home Inc. in Greencastle for more than 40 years, where he also served on the ambulance, which was then provided by the funeral home.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Greencastle.
He was a life member of Rescue Hose Co. 1 in Greencastle, a member of Junior Order of Marion, Pa., a social member of Harry D. Zeigler Veterans of Foreign Wars in Greencastle, a member of BPO Elks in Waynesboro and National AARP and was a former member of Greencastle Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel F. Eshleman Wells, whom he married Dec. 20, 1963; one son, Jack S. Wells of Greencastle; one stepson, Carol R. Hawbaker of Japan; five sisters, Arlene Hospelhorn of Clearwater, Fla., Marie Glunt, Vesta Foust and Geraldine Peters, all of Chambersburg, and Florence Caruso of Shippensburg, Pa.; two grandchildren; two great-grandsons; three stepgrandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Wells and Edwin Wells.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home Inc., 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. The Rev. LaDonna E. Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

James O. Nunemaker Jr.
MERCERSBURG, Pa. - James O. Nunemaker Jr., 37, of 13557 Karper Road, was pronounced dead, Friday, Sept. 5, 1997, at his home.
Born May 22, 1960, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late James O. and Joyce Stevens Nunemaker Sr.
He was a self-employed mechanic in the Mercersburg area.
He is survived by his common-law wife, Crystal Zeis Dowler of Mercersburg; three children, Jamie L. Nunemaker of Hagerstown, James O. Nunemaker III and Jessica A. Nunemaker, both at home; foster parents, Donald W. and Ezaura E. Manaia Hickok of Waynesboro; maternal grandmother, Ardella Strayer Nunemaker of Mont Alto, Pa.; seven sisters, Linda Reed of Georgia, Donna K. Bowman, Vanessa Shipp and Spring Billings, all of Chambersburg, Brenda Perry of Fayetteville, Pa., Robin Nunemaker of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Jayne Reed of Fannettsburg, Pa.; three brothers, Harold E. Nunemaker and Jay Mowery, both of Chambersburg, Stephen Milam of Williamsburg, Va.; two foster sisters, Michelle Guyer and Debra Stull, both of Chambersburg; three foster brothers, Mitchell Hickok and Stewart Hickok, both of Waynesboro, and Donald Hickok Jr. of Mont Alto; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Ronald W. Skidmore will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery
in Mont Alto.
