Carl E. Baker
BOONSBORO - Carl Eugene "Gene" Baker, 41, of 16 Schoolhouse Court, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Sept. 14, 1955, in Hagerstown, he was a son of Phyllis Hines Baker of Boonsboro and the late Carl Lincoln Baker.
He was a graduate of Boonsboro High School.
He retired from Old Ebbitt Grill, Washington D.C. He previously was employed by Old South Mountain Inn, near Boonsboro.
He was a member of Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, Boonsboro.
He was a member of North Star Network, Hagerstown.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Tina Seal of Sharpsburg and Linda Butts of Hagerstown; nieces and nephews; and one great-niece.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Hines.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Benevola Cemetery
near Boonsboro. The Rev. Kenneth L. Harrington will officiate.
There will be no viewing or visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to North Star Network or Hospice of Washington County, 101 E. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, Md. 21740.

Paul E. White
Paul Edward "Eggy" White, 84, of 1146 Rose Hill Ave., Hagerstown, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born June 19, 1913, in Washington County, he was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine Kretzer White.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Irene White, who died June 29, 1996.
He was retired from Tri-State Roofing & Siding Inc.
He was a member of Van Lear Brethren in Christ Church.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1936; American Legion Morris Frock Post No. 42; and Eagles Inc. of Waynesboro, Pa.
He is survived by one daughter, Sharon Carpenter of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; one son, Paul J. White of Maugansville; one stepdaughter, Jeroma Grimes of Hagerstown; two stepsons, William Foreman and Carl Foreman, both of Hagerstown; one sister, Rose White of Hagerstown; two brothers, Jack Campagno of Shippensburg, Pa., and Kenneth White of Maugansville; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Wilbur W. Benner will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Irene I. Presgraves
Irene I. Presgraves, 75, of 80 E. Irvin Ave., Hagerstown, died Friday, Sept. 5, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born in Jefferson County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Thomas E. and Laura B. Mahoney Mason.
She is survived by her husband, William T. Presgraves Sr.; two sons, William T. Presgraves Jr. of Keedysville, and Donald W. Presgraves of Hagerstown; three sisters, Virginia Thorne of Hagerstown, Ethel Dorsey of San Diego, Calif., and Thelma Santmier of Martinsburg, W.Va.; one brother, Thomas Mason of Tucson, Ariz.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be Monday at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown. The Rev. David M. Buchenroth will officiate.
Arrangements are by Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown.
Kashara L. Rogers
Kashara Lovell Rogers, 3 days old, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 1997, at University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore.
Born Sept. 1, 1997, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Reginald G. Rogers and Tessa D. Mills of Hagerstown.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by one brother, Markie Rogers, at home; maternal grandparents, Ernest Mills Sr. of Pennsylvania and Colleen Harris of Hagerstown; maternal step-grandparents, Steven Harris of West Virginia and Janet Kay Mills of Pennsylvania; great-grandparents, Frank and Joann Fair of Hagerstown and Cora Mills of Hagerstown; one uncle, Ernest Mills Jr. of Pennsylvania; and several cousins.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
Family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
James E. Price
FREDERICK, Md. - James Everett Price, 64, of 1421 Taney Ave., died Friday, Sept. 5, 1997, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick.
Born Dec. 25, 1932, in Pleasants County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles E. and Stella Price.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth R. Tucker Price, who died in 1993.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as truck driver by High's Dairy.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army as sergeant.
He was an avid bowler.
He is survived by two daughters, Robin E. Crawford of Frederick and Gail L. Spradlin of Funkstown; two grandchildren, Heath Everette Crawford and Jennifer Danielle Spradlin; a number of sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. The Rev. David G. Oravec will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to services.
Charles Keyser
TOLEDO, Ohio - Charles "Casey" Keyser, 71, of Toledo, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 1997, at The Toledo Hospital, Toledo.
Born Jan. 15, 1926, in Weverton, Md., he was the son of the late Daniel and Anna Louise Keyser.
He was employed for 32 years by Powertrain.
He was a veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Eagles UAW Local No. 14.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Patricia "Sue" Keyser of Toledo; one daughter, Karen Stevens of Toledo; one son, John Michael Keyser of Alabama; one sister, Clare Frances Himes of Frederick, Md.; two granddaughters; two grandsons; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred and Blanche; and three brothers, Daniel Keyser, Glen Keyser and Earl Keyser.
Visitation was at Ansberg-West Funeral Home, Toledo.
Donald E. Ramsey
HUSTONTOWN, Pa. - Donald E. Ramsey, 68, of Hustontown, died Friday, Sept. 5, 1997, at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, Pa.

Marvin W. Maphis
LOGAN, Ohio - Marvin Williams Maphis, 75, of Logan, formerly of Charles Town, W.Va., died Thursday, Sept. 4, 1997, at Arcadia Acres Nursing Home, Logan.
Born Aug. 18, 1922, in Winchester, Va., he was the son of the late William A. Maphis and Mazie Alice Sine Maphis.
He was retired from the Jefferson County Division of the West Virginia Department of Highways.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 3rd Army, 12th Division in the European Theater from 1942 to 1945.
He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Shenandoah Junction, W.Va.
He was a member of Jackson-Perks American Legion Post No. 71, Charles Town.
He is survived by one daughter, Nancy Ellen Smith of Falcraft, Pa.; one son, Marvin W. Maphis Jr. of Pennsylvania; three sisters, Juanita Custer of Charles Town, Ruth Burke of Clearbrook, Va., and Mildred Campbell of Fairfax, Va.; one brother, C.T. Maphis of Winchester; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Brewer and Audrey Funkhouser; and four brothers, Alvin H. Maphis, Allen C. Maphis, Dalford Maphis and Virgil Maphis.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Pleasant View Chapel, Martinsburg, W.Va. The Rev. William G. Everhart will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
Friends will be received Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.
Joseph P. Snyder
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Joseph P. Snyder, 82, of 118 Hoke Drive, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg.
Born May 31, 1915, in New Franklin, Pa., he was the son of the late Calvin Snyder and Emma Bishop Snyder.
He was a truck driver with former Horn's Motor Express, Chambersburg, retiring after 17 years of service. He was previously employed and one-time manager of the former VT Angle Poulty, Chambersburg.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Marines.
He was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church, Chambersburg. He and his wife were evangelists, holding revival services and speaking in churches in Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia. They had also done evangelism work in Haiti. He held his credentials with Fellowship Pentecostal Church Inc., Baltimore.
He is survived by his wife, Rosie Blade Snyder, whom he married May 17, 1932; one daughter, Josephine Boyd of Many, La.; one son, Ronald E. Snyder of Mercersburg, Pa.; one sister, Dorothy Shade of Chambersburg; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters.
Services will be Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Rd,, Chambersburg. The Rev. LeRoy W. Wiley will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.
A viewing will be Monday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Robert B. Miller
ROUZERVILLE, Pa. - Robert B. Miller, 74, a guest of Wynbrier Retirement Home, Waynesboro, Pa., and formerly of 11892 Old Route 16, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 1997, at Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro, after an extended illness.
Born Sept. 5, 1922, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Oliver W. and Bertha M. Kauffman Miller.
He was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro and Rouzerville areas.
He was employed by Frick Co., Waynesboro, in the maintenance department for 37 years. He retired in 1986.
He was a veteran of World War II and Korean Conflict, having served with the U.S. Army in the European and Pacific theaters.
He was a member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post No. 15, Waynesboro; William Max McLaughlin Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 695, Waynesboro; and Order of the Owls Nest no. 1073, Waynesboro.
He is survived by two sisters, Janet Pepple of Quincy United Methodist Home and Mary Jane Wagner of Hancock; two brothers, Joseph L. Miller and Glenn Eugene Miller, both of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Gertrude Carbaugh Monn and Margaret Wagner.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Robert Fitz will officiate. Burial will be in Burns Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
Family will receive friends today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
