Robert D. Baker
BOONSBORO - Robert Daniel "Bob" Baker, 76, of 303 N. Main St., died Friday, Aug. 1, 1997, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Nov. 4, 1920, in Benevola, Md., he was the son of the late Fred L. and Clemmie E. Smith Baker.
He was employed by Hagerstown Junior College as security guard, retiring in 1985. He was previously employed by Washington County Board of Education as a bus driver for more than 20 years.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with U.S. Navy in European and Pacific Theaters.
He was a member of Mount Nebo United Methodist Church, Boonsboro.
He was a member of Boonsboro Volunteer Fire Co.; Boonsboro Ambulance and Rescue Squad 69; Dixon-Troxell Post 211 American Legion, Funkstown.
He is survived by his wife, Miriam C. Young Baker, whom he married Sept. 21, 1946; one son, Gary Wayne Baker of Elkridge, Md.; one stepson, Donald Lee Young of Martinsburg; one brother, Arthur C. Baker of Sharpsburg; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Louise Palmer; and one brother, Gerald Baker.
Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. in chapel of Bast Funeral Home, 7606 National Pike, Boonsboro. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery. The Rev. Harold Ebersole will officiate.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Daryl E. Lambert
WALDORF, Md. - Daryl Elwood Lambert, 38, of Waldorf, and formerly of California, Md., died Wednesday, July 30, 1997, at Calvert Memorial Hospital in Prince Frederick, Md.
Born March 31, 1959, in Hagerstown, he is the son of Margaret Frances Fauber Lambert of Wachapreague, Va., and the late Marvin Elwood Lambert.
He attended St. Mary's College, St. Mary's City, Md. He was a 1993 graduate of Salisbury State University, Salisbury, Md.
He was employed by St. Mary's County Public Schools as a special education teacher for 14 years, retiring in 1995.
He was a member of Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad, Lexington Park, Md.
Services will be today at 10 a.m. at Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Chapel, Leonardtown, Md. The Rev. Rona Harding will officiate. Graveside services will be at 3 pm. in Wachapreague Cemetery, Wachapreague. The Rev. Dane Bragg will officiate.
Max K. Lawyer
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Max K. Lawyer, 89, of 191 Colonial Drive, Guilford Township, died Friday, Aug. 1, 1997, at his home.
Born Aug. 14, 1907, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Adam F. Lawyer and Fanny J. Kaufman Lawyer.
He was owner and operator for 21 years of the former Lawyer's Confectionary Newsstand, Chambersburg. He retired in 1973.
He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Chambersburg.
He was a member of Junior Hose & Truck Co. 2, Chambersburg; and AARP.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Hamsher Lawyer at home; one son, J. Edward Lawyer of Fayetteville, Pa.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Ann Talsania; one sister; two brothers and one grandson.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. in Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Stephen W. Hoffman will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.
Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Paul D. Getz
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Paul D. Getz, 59, of Martinsburg, died Friday, Aug. 1, 1997, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.
Born May 7, 1938, in Petersburg, W.Va., he was the son of Johnathan R. Getz of Ridgeley, W.Va., and Gladys V. Sine Getz of Timberville, Va.
He was formerly employed by Midtown Service Station as manager.
He was a member of Covenant Baptist Church.
He was a member of Dry Dock Club; Martinsburg Lodge 120 Loyal Order of Moose; Eagles Club Post 4179; and Berkeley Post 14 American Legion.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Annie Humphrey Getz of Staunton, Va.; six daughters, Linda Barger, Paula Getz, Diane Getz, Fanda Hyatt, Martha Head and Jamie Cody; one brother, Allen Getz of Hagerstown; two sisters, Betty Offenbacker and Charlotte Offenbacker, both of Harrisonburg, Va.; and three friends with whom he resided, William D. and Barbara A. Myers Jr. and their daughter, Cara Hartner.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Marie Custer; and two brothers, Kenneth R. Getz and Carl E. Getz.
Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Ron Larson will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Earl L. Good Jr.
KNOXVILLE, Md. - Earl Lee Good Jr., 55, of 2534 W. Boss Arnold Road, died Thursday, July 31, 1997, at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, Md.
Born Aug. 1, 1941, in Charles Town, W.Va., he was the son of the late Earl Lee Good and Dora Mae Hines Good.
He was a graduate of Brunswick High School, Brunswick, Md. He attended Strayer Business College, Washington D.C.
He was employed by Corporate Press, Landover, Md., as project estimator for more than 24 years and was recently relocated to M&B Printing Co., Frederick.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Brunswick, where he served as deacon.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Nan Webber Good at home; one son, Erik Matthew Good at home; one brother, John W. Good of Eldersburg, Md.; one niece; one nephew.
Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. The Rev. Daniel T. Spiker will officiate. The procession will leave at 10:30 a.m. from John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 pm. at the funeral home. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Amos E. Davis Jr.
Amos Edward Davis Jr., 81, of 540 Liberty St., Hagerstown, died Thursday, July 31, 1997, at his home.
Born July 4, 1916, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Amos E. and Susan Kramer Davis.
He was employed at C&O Canal. He was previously employed as a roofer.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Rosa R. Davis; one daughter, Helen R. Seekford of Hagerstown; one son, Edward L. Davis of Hagerstown; two grandchildren; three nieces; one nephew.
He was preceded in death by five sisters; and two brothers.
Graveside services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown. The Rev. Raymond H. Shriver will officiate.
There will be no viewing.
The family requests the omission of flowers.

Lula J. Reid
MARLOWE, W.Va. - Lula Jane Reid, 79, of Broad Lane, who died Thursday, July 31, 1997, was employed as a cook for Potomac Park Campground in Marlowe, after her retirement in 1982.
Virginia M. Roberts
MILLERSVILLE, Md. - Virginia Marie Roberts, 62, of Millersville, died of complications from a collapsed lung Sunday, July 27, 1997, at North Arundel Hospital after an illness of two weeks.
Born March 29, 1935, in Calvert County, Md., she was the daughter of the late John Horseman and Josephine Horseman Miles.
She was raised in Clear Spring and lived in Millersville for 10 years. Previously, she had lived in Stevensville, Md.
She was a graduate of Clear Spring High School.
She was employed by Motor Vehicle Administration, Glen Burnie, Md., as controller clerk for more than 27 years, retiring in May 1997. She was previously employed by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home as receptionist for more than 10 years.
She is survived by one daughter, Donna Lynn Kauffman of Chester, Md.; two sons, William E. Roberts Jr. of Colonial Beach, Va., and John Thomas Roberts of Stevensville; one sister, Mary Jo Hays of Hagerstown; two brothers, Junny Miles and Barry Miles, both of Hagerstown; six grandchildren.

Mary E. Brechbill
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Mary E. Brechbill, 95, of 2608 Appleway, died Friday, Aug. 1, 1997, at her daughter's residence where she had lived.
Born Aug. 4, 1901, in Lemaster, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Andrew Wenger and Annie Brandt Wenger.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H. Brechbill, who died Dec. 10, 1990.
She was a homemaker. She also assisted her husband on the farm.
She was a member of Old Order River Brethren, Chambersburg.
She is survived by one daughter, Anna Bricker of Chambersburg; two sons, Raymond W. Brechbill and Glenn W. Brechbill, both of Chambersburg; 17 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Blaine J. Brechbill; one sister; three brothers; and one great-grandson.
Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Strasburg Mennonite Church, Edenville Road, Chambersburg. Bishop Amos Bricker, Harold Wenger and Donald Brechbill will officiate. Burial will be in Brechbill Cemetery, Chambersburg.
A viewing will be held Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. Visitation will also be at the church one hour prior the services.

Lucy M. Gladhill
MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Lucy Magdelene Gladhill, 89, formerly of Middletown, died Friday, Aug. 1, 1997, at Vindabona Nursing Home in Braddock Heights, Md.
Born Nov. 20, 1907, in Myersville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Calvin T.K. and Lola Wiles Gladhill.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown, for 72 years; and Gleaners Sunday School class.
She was a member of Middletown Valley Homemakers; and Ladies Auxiliary of Middletown Volunteer Fire Co.
She is survived by one sister, Olive Routzahn of Middletown; two brothers, Ray C. Gladhill and Floyd L. Gladhill, both of Middletown; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Amy Kepler and Hazel Shank Eccard; and two brothers, Glenn Gladhill and Mark Gladhill.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends may call anytime Sunday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
