Kahler, Charles Buck

OCEAN CITY - Charles "Buck" Kahler, age 80, died Saturday, February 17, 2007 at his home in Ocean City. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late August and Agnes Kahler of Essex, Md. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Lilly May in 2005.

Buck was a WWII US Navy Veteran. He was employed as a senor electrical start-up engineer with The Bechtel Power Co., retiring in 1991. He was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church, Delmarva Irish American Club, I.B.E.W. Local #24, AARP, VFW Post 8296 and the American Legion Post 166.

He is survived by his son, Charles "Buck" Kahler Jr. And his wife Linda of San Jose, Calif. And daughter Patricia Fyffe and her husband Jack of Preston, MD; 2 brothers, August and David Kahler both of Baltimore; 2 sisters, Irene Oldelwurtel and her husband Frank, also of Baltimore,

and Agnes Mattheu and her husband Frank of Glen Rock, PA.; 6 grandchildren; Jamelen Mahan and her husband Greg, Jason Kahler and his wife Nadia, Jenifer Miley, Jesse, Casey and Sean Fyffe, and 2 great grandchildren, Shianne and Christopher Miley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday 11 am at St. Luke Catholic Church where family will receive friends one hour prior. Rev. Thomas Protack will be the Celebrant. A graveside service will be held Saturday 12 noon at Glen Haven Memorial Park in Glen Burnie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Buck's honor to Coastal Hospice PO Box 1733 Salisbury, MD 21802. Arrangements are being handled by the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.

FREDERICK C. KAHL

Frederick Charles Kahl, age 84, of Baltimore Farm in the Lloyds area of Cambridge, MD, died Saturday, April 16, 2005 at Washington Adventist Hospital, Takoma Park, MD.

'Freddie', as he was known, was born on November 16, 1920 in Baltimore County, Maryland. He was the son of the late Charles G. Kahl and Nellie Curtain Kahl.

A U.S. Army Veteran having served during World War II in the Aleutians Islands, Eastern Mandates and Southern Philippines, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Ribbon with Bronze Arrowhead, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, American Theater Service Ribbon and the World War II Victory Ribbon. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Technician Fourth Grade from the Battery C, 31st Field Artillery Battalion.

Freddie was a bus contractor for the Dorchester County Schools and had the same route that his father had for over fifty years. He was a life long resident of Baltimore Farm even after from when the Taylor's purchased the farm from him. He farmed for fifty years and when he retired, he was a caretaker of Quail Lane Farm, Morris Neck, Cambridge, MD.

Being very much a part of the Taylor family, he considered George and Karen's sons Sam and John his grandsons.

Freddie enjoyed cutting grass, crabbing, tending to his chickens and gardens. He also liked to go to auction sales.

Surviving is his extended family George and Karen Taylor with whom he lived and worked for numerous years on the farm, their sons Sam Taylor and his girlfriend Theresa of East New Market, MD, John Taylor and his wife Alison of Federalsburg, MD, a sister Gertrude Bill of Westminster, MD, several nieces, nephews and his faithful friend Gator, his dog.

Preceding him in death besides his parents were two sisters Dorothy Findling, Evelyn Hall and a brother William Kahl.

A visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. with The Rev. Don A. Schell officiating at the service. Burial will follow with Military Honors at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Radcliffe Wheatley, Richie Saunders, Billy Beckwith, James David Wheatley, Jr., Billy Wheatley and Kevin Bradley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made in Freddie's memory to the church or charity of one's choice.

Jackson, Cyril F.

Cyril F. Jackson, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away on Thursday March 22, 2001. He was 57. He was born in Cambridge on February 16, 1944 and was the son of the late Cyril Franklin and Stella Era Jackson.

He had attended schools in Cambridge. On July 23, 1966 he and the former Violet Cornelia Smith were married. He had been a member of Cambridge Lodge No. 66 A.F. & A.M. since October 17, 1988. Some years ago he had worked as pressman at Western Publishing Co. in Cambridge. Mr. Jackson had worked as a truck driver for most of his life. In 1975 he started working for Preston Trucking, and later worked for Crown Cork & Seal. In 1993 he moved to Savannah, where he worked for several local trucking companies. In 1995 he went to work for McKenzie Tank Lines as an over the road driver. He had retired in 1995. Since he had retired he had worked with his son on the water. He was stricken suddenly on Thursday afternoon.

Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife, Violet S. Jackson of Savannah, GA, two daughters: Natalie M. Dawson of Robbins, Kimberly Jackson Holliday of Cambridge, one son, Darren A. Jackson and his wife, Dee Jackson of Savannah, three grandchildren, Nikki Dawson of Robbins, Jacob Jackson and Jody Jackson, both of Savannah, two sisters, Mary E. Moore and Louise H. Maguire, both of Cambridge, two brothers, William J. Jackson of Colorado Springs, CO and Phillip G. Jackson of Pompano Beach, FL and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas H. Jackson, and a foster mother, Geraldine Mowbray.

A Funeral service will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Doug Wooten and the Rev. D.J. Wooten officiating. Members of Cambridge Lodge No. 66 A.F. & A.M. will conduct a Memorial Service prior to the Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Old Trinity Churchyard.

The family will receive friends during the hour before the service.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Marvin Parks, Glenwood Todd, Jr., Richard Moore, Jr., Joseph Moore and Jerol Don Moore, Jr. Active Pallbearers will be Allen H. Smith, John Pyle, Richard Moore, Sr., Dr. Tim Carpenter, Terry Groves and Larry Bennett.

Jackson, George E.

George E. Jackson, 68, of Lakesville, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2005 at Dorchester General Hospital. He was born in Crapo on January 16, 1937 and was the son of the late Hamilton and Mary Bradley Jackson and his adoptive parents, Dorothy Wroten and the late Wilson Wroten.

Mr. Jackson attended school in Crapo. On June 1, 1956 he married Harriett V. "Ginger" Sewell, who passed away on September 22, 1989. He had worked at Spicers Lumber Mill, Emerson Elzey Plumbing and in 1976 he started his own business George E. Jackson Plumbing and Heating. He was one of the first volunteer EMT's in Dorchester County. Mr. Jackson enjoyed fishing, gardening and his pets. He was a member of Cambridge Lodge #1211 Loyal Order Of Moose, Cambridge Lodge #1272 B.P.O.E. Elks, Sons of the American Legion, past member of Lakes & Straits VFC holding several positions, Past President of Dorchester County Volunteer Fireman's Association.

He is survived by his adoptive mother, Dorothy Wroten of Cambridge, a daughter Sandi Kenny and her husband Warren of Andrews, a grandson Derek Miller of Lakesville, a granddaughter Ginni Miller of Andrews, a great granddaughter Alyssa Miller, 2 great- grandsons Christian and Zachary Lewis, a companion Barbara Adams of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, his adoptive father and his wife, he is preceded in death by a sister Dot McGlaughlin.

Pallbearers will be : Wallace Dodson, Dave McMullen, Gary Smith, Steve Smith, Rodney Travers and Jimmy Ward.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Ted Abbott, Bruce Meekins, Petey Travers and Delmer Willey.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 25, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. A. Delmer Willey, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. A visitation will be on Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to The American Diabetes Association, 114 Baptist St. Salisbury, MD 21801.

Mack, Rita J.

On December 9, 2004, Rita Jane Mack of Glen Burnie. Beloved wife of the late Robert J. Mack Sr.; Devoted mother of Irene Corbett, Robert Jr. and Joseph Mack; Loving sister of William and Richard Conrad, Theresa Edmonds and Elizabeth Dobbins and the late Robert, Thomas, Earl and John Conrad and Pauline McIntire and Pearl Nagle. Dearest grandmother of Sean Joseph Corbett and Michael Patrick Corbett.

The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM on Saturday and Sunday. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 1 PM on Monday at the Church of the Crucifixion. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.

Mackbee, Jerome

Jerome 'Jerry' Mackbee, of Cambridge, passed away at his home on Wednesday April 18, 2001. He was 52. He was born in Baltimore on July 29, 1948 and was the son of the late William G. and Henrietta Cantwell Mackbee.

He had attended schools in Baltimore, having graduated from Northeast High School in Baltimore in 1967.For a number of years he had worked as a machinist. He had made his home in Cambridge since 1986. He passed away suddenly at his home on Wednesday.

He is survived by one son, Thomas J. Mackbee of Ferndale, one granddaughter, Christina R. Mackbee, his former wife. Nancy M. Mackbee of Ferndale, one brother, Steve Drury and his wife Beatrice Drury both of Baltimore; one niece, Heather Drury and two cousins, Sue Cannon and JoAnn Cox both of Cambridge.

Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. of Cambridge.

MacDonald Jr., Vincent W.

On April 24, 2005, Vincent Wade MacDonald Jr. of Cambridge. Devoted husband of the late Helen A. MacDonald; Beloved father of Mary B. McNulty and her husband Patrick, Kathleen H . Evans and her husband Stephen, Richard P. MacDonald Sr. and his wife Stephanie, Teresa A. Neild and her husband J. Richard, David P. MacDonald and his wife Victoria and the late Vincent W. MacDonald III; Loving brother of Eugene MacDonald and the late Kenneth MacDonald; Dearest grandfather of 7 and great-grandfather of 6.

The family will receive visitors from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM on Wednesday (4/27) at Singleton Funeral Home. The funeral ceremony will be held at 9 AM on Thursday (4/29). Interment Glen Haven Memorial Park.

Donations in his name may be made to the Neck District Volunteer Fire Dept., 954 Cooks Point Road, Cambridge, MD 21613. Thank you.

Mackay Jr., Donald

Donald Mackay Jr., 80 of Salisbury, died Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in McKeesport, PA, he was the son of the late Donald Mackay Sr. and Agnes Sommers Mackay.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Norma Kathryn Mackay of Salisbury; two children and their spouses: Laura Ann and Paul J. Lewis of Salisbury and Donald and Sandra Mackay III of Ocean Pines; and four grandchildren: Ryan Lewis, Kyle Lewis, Shelby Mackay and Joshua Mackay.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are being handled by Holloway Funeral Home, 501 Snow Hill Rd., Salisbury, MD 21804.
