Hill, Laura Bergen
Laura Bergen Hill of Goldsboro, MD, died Friday, August 20, 2010, at the Homestead Manor in Denton, MD. She was 88 years old.
Born in Princeton, NJ on Feb. 23, 1922, Mrs. Hill was the daughter of the late Harvey Vandyke Bergen and Helen Goeke Bergen. Her husband, Homer Manners Hill, Jr. died Feb. 26, 1995.
Mrs. Hill had been a homemaker and a clerk in the family store in Princeton, Hills Market. She enjoyed bowling, tennis, and gardening. She was a member of the Kingston, NJ Presbyterian Church. She moved to Goldsboro in 2003 to live with her daughter, Judith Erhardt and her husband Gary Greenly.
In addition to her daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Hill is survived by her grandson, Ivan J Erhardt and his wife, Vivian Garcete Erhardt of Manassas, VA; two devoted brothers-in-law: Arthur Anderson Harvey and Paul Joseph Hill and his wife, June Snell Hill; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Horace "Sam" Bergen and one sister, Carrie Bergen McLennan.
The interment will be private in Kingston, NJ at a later date.

Walls, Elizabeth K.
Elizabeth K. Walls of Easton, MD, formerly of Queen Anne's County MD, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, at her daughter's home in Ridgely, MD. She was 83 years old.
Born in Centreville, MD, Mrs. Walls was the daughter of the late Samuel Cosden Kimbles, Jr. and Cora Green Kimbles. Her husband, Edgar Eugene Walls, died September 22, 1992.
A 1945 graduate of the Church Hill High School, Mrs. Walls had lived in Queen Anne County most of her life before moving to Easton in 2006. She was a farmer's wife and drove a school bus in Queen Anne County for twenty years. She had bowled for over 30 years in Chestertown with a group called the "Farmerettes" which they later changed to "The Grandmas".
Mrs. Walls is survived by one son, E. Eugene Walls, III of Ridgely; two daughters: Sandra Kay Skinner and her husband J. Tim of Ridgely and Vickie Thornton and her husband Fred of Cordova, MD; three grandchildren: Jason Skinner, Justin Skinner, and Megan Thornton; one great grandson, Ryder Skinner; and a sister: Mildred Swann of Ridgely. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Samuel Kimbles and Robert Kimbles.
Funeral services will be 11 am Friday, Dec. 31st, at the Moore Funeral Home, 12 S. Second Street in Denton, MD where friends may call from 6 until 8 on Thursday evening. The interment will be in the Church Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests for friends to send memorial donations to the Caroline Hospice Foundation, PO Box 362, Denton, MD 21629.
Denny, Melissa Pilkenton
Melissa Ann Pilkenton Denny of Seaford, DE died Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, in Cecil County, MD. She was 43 years old.
Born in Easton, Melissa was the daughter of Shelby Jean Collins Meek of Seaford and the late James Thomas Pilkenton. She had lived in the mid-Delmarva region all of her life.
Melissa was a 1985 graduate of North Caroline High School near Ridgely, MD. She had been a Domestic and was presently a cashier at the Centreville, MD Food Lion.
In addition to her mother, Melissa is survived by two sons: Michael Denny and Derrick Denny, both of Stevensville, MD; one brother, Ellis Meek of East New Market, MD; two Aunts: Roberta Pilkenton and Sharon Wooters, both of Harmony, MD and an Uncle, Robert Collins and his wife Wanda of Delmar, MD; and her significant other, Rick Denny of Stevensville, MD. She was preceded in death by her brother, Gary Pilkenton.
A funeral service will be 8 PM Sunday, Aug. 22nd, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second St. in Denton, MD where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The interment will be private.

Suthard, Margaret
Margaret Suthard passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at the age of 94. She was born on June 28, 1916 in Collington, MD to the late John and Ozella Davidson. She lived most of her life in the Kensington, MD area, but moved to Lake County, FL in 1977. She was a member of Morrison United Methodist Church of Leesburg, and was a member of Women for Hospice locally.
Margaret is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband Warren Suthard.
A Graveside service will be held on Monday, October 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Denton Cemetery in Maryland. There will be a Memorial Service held at Lake Port Square Town Hall in Leesburg, FL. on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Karen Burris and Rev. Gary Blanchard officiating.
The local arrangements are by Moore Funeral Home, P.A. in Denton.
Cook, Ida Catherine
Ida Catherine Cook of Ridgely, MD, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at the Homestead Manor in Denton, MD. She was 89 years old.
Born in Easton, Mrs. Cook was the daughter of the late James Hazel Callaway and Lula Victoria Callaway and was the step daughter of the late Lillian C. Callaway. She grew up in Queen Anne County, but moved to Caroline County when she married her husband, Kennard C. Cook, who died May 5, 1999. They had moved to Ridgely in 1944.
Mrs. Cook was a homemaker. But she had also worked at Salisbury Brothers in Ridgely from 1960 until 1982. She was a member of the Ridgely United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Cook is survived by two sons: Carl Cook and his wife, Gloria of Middletown, DE and Kennard Cook and his friend Brenda Gardner of Ridgely; two daughters: Vickie Dodd and her husband John H. Dodd, Jr. of Ridgely and Kay C. Wheatley and her husband Tommy of Federalsburg, MD; one brother, Hazel Callaway of Denton and a ½ sister, Lorraine Cook of Centreville, MD; 12 grandchildren: Katie Thomason, K.C. Cook, Vickie Thomas, Randy Dodd, Marsha Henry, Allyson Marine, Brad Dodd, Rachel Coleman, Jennifer Harvey, Megan Nichols, Douglas Cook and Scott Cook; 22 great grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Saturday, May 1st, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second Street in Denton, MD where friends may call from 1 until 2 before the service. The interment will be in the Ridgely Cemetery.

Breeding, Philip E.
Philip E. Breeding of Federalsburg, MD died Friday, November 5, 2010, at the Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge, MD. He was 85 years old.
Born in Hickman, MD on December 22, 1924, Mr. Breeding was the son of the late Fred T. Breeding and Hazel Irene Drummond Breeding.
Mr. Breeding had lived in Caroline County all of his life. He is a WWII US Army veteran where he participated in the Campaigns of Northern France and the Rhineland as a Heavy Machine Gunner. He was wounded in action in Germany on March 29, 1945 and received the Purple Heart. He also received the Combat Infantry Badge, the American Theater Ribbon, the Victory medal, and an EAME Ribbon with two Bronze Stars. . After the War, he became a button cutter at Gadow's Button Factory near Denton. He was also a lifetime member of the Caroline American Legion Post 29 in Denton, MD and the VFW Memorial Post 7937 of Greensboro, MD.
Mr. Breeding is survived by his wife of 64 years, Virginia Lee Breeding of Federalsburg; his son, Wayne E. Breeding and his wife Donna of Federalsburg; three brothers: Raymond Breeding of Federalsburg, Richard Leroy Breeding of Federalsburg, and John Dorsey Breeding of Laurel, DE; two sisters: Virginia Louise Meredith of Seaford, DE and Esther Cluley of Federalsburg; two grandchildren: Dawn M. Hudson and her husband Scott of Milton, DE and Tracy Southard and her husband Ricky of Federalsburg; two great grandchildren: Tyler Loftus and Natalie Southard; several nieces and nephews; and his two devoted caregivers, Kim and Sharon. He was predeceased by two brothers: Gilbert Breeding and Harold Breeding; a baby sister, Irene Breeding; and a great granddaughter, Patricia Southard.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Wednesday, November 10th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second Street in Denton. Friends may call from 6 until 8 on Tuesday evening where Dr. Christian Jensen will give a brief address at 7 PM. The interment will be in the Concord Church Cemetery.

Chapis, Mary Ann
Mary Ann Chapis of Denton, Maryland died Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at her home.
She was 90 years old.
Born January 28, 1920 in Decatur, Illinois, Mrs. Chapis was the daughter of the late Thomas Pando and Victoria Simon Pando. Her husband, Thomas George Chapis died August 4, 1990.
Mrs. Chapis was a homemaker and was a self employed barber along with her husband in Denton for many years. She was a member of the VFW Memorial Post 7937 Auxiliary and the Caroline American Legion Post 29 Auxiliary.
Mrs. Chapis is survived by one son, John G. Chapis and his wife Carol of Seaford, DE, four grandchildren: Stephanie Buchert and her husband Todd, Stephen Chapis and his wife Germaine, Lillian Conover and her husband Jeff, and Todd Devilbiss; and three great grandchildren: Colby Buchert, Alyse Buchert, and Kayla Conover. She was also preceded in death by three sisters: Olivia Robinson, Clara Arvanitis, Christine Patrinellis; and a brother, Peter Pando.
A memorial service will be 1 PM Tuesday, July 13th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second Street in Denton where friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service. The interment will be private.
