McCollister, Granville
Granville F. McCollister, 82, of Cambridge passed away on Friday, January 2, 2015 at his home. He was born in Cambridge on August 4, 1932 and was a son of the late Thomas and Mabel Meyer McCollister.
He attended schools in Cambridge. Mr. McCollister was owner/operator of his Granville McCollister Butcher Shop. In 1960, he married the former Charlotte Brusso, who passed away on December 22, 1998. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, crabbing and loved animals. Mr. McCollister was a past member of Choptank Memorial Post #7460 VFW.
He is survived by a brother Russell McCollister of Cambridge, nieces and nephews Carl McCollister, Jr., Alice Keyes, Steve McCollister, Debbie Fleetwood, David Gadow, Dennis McCollister, and Diane Murphy and several great nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, Mr. McCollister is preceded in death by four brothers Carl McCollister, Howard McCollister, Eldridge McCollister and D’Arcy McCollister, a sister Clara Gadow and a niece Ruth Ann Nichols.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery with Rev. David L. Kreek officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Antioch United Methodist Church, c/o Susan Meredith, 2073 Dailsville Road, Cambridge, MD 21613 or to ones choice. Wright-Mills, A. Frances
A. Frances Wright-Mills, 81, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. She was born in Cambridge on February 15, 1933 to the late William T. and May Ida Schultz Green.
Frances graduated from Cambridge High School, class of 1951. She retired from Western Publishing. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary Post 91 and was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 7460. Frances enjoyed playing bingo, doing crossword puzzles, crocheting and gathering once a month at Suicide Bridge Restaurant with members from her graduating class. She was also a very devoted, caring and loving mother.
She is survived by three children E. Peter Wright, Jr. of Cambridge, Donna Landon and husband Calvin of Cambridge and Tina Kight and husband Irving of North Carolina, seven grandchildren Thomas P. Wright, Richard L. Wright, Robert Hubbard, Jr., Robin Bell and husband Danny, Gene Ashton, Kristen Weatherly and husband Devin and Tiffany Kight, seven great grandchildren Ethan and Isabella Wright, Karla Webb, Chloe, Coen, Coral, and Casey Bell and is also expecting another great grandchild. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by three siblings Leroy Green, Arnold Green, Dorothy Green and a great grandchild Lauren Nicole Webb.
Pallbearers will be David Bailey, Dean Bailey, Thomas Wright, Irving Kight, Matthew Blake and Calvin Landon.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Christina Blake officiating. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21801.
Stanton, Donald W.
Donald Wayne Stanton, Sr., 65, of Hudson passed away at his home after a long battle of illnesses on Sunday, October 5, 2014. Born on December 11, 1948 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Pearl and Charlotte Wickham Stanton.
He attended local schools in Baltimore, where he started working at a young age in Lexington Market Deli and Jack’s Corned Beef in the 1960’s. In the 1970’s, he worked at Rheb’s Candy Company, where he stayed until moving to West Virginia. Then in 2009, he moved to Cambridge to be with his family.
He is survived by his companion Anna Hayward of Hudson, along with his four children Kim Cochran Brown and son in law John Brown of Hudson, Curtis Stanton and wife Kim of Cambridge, Donald W. Stanton, Jr. and wife Terry of Tennessee, Robert Stanton and wife Becky of North Carolina, thirteen grandchildren Jeffrey Cochran and wife Donna, Joey Brown, Christopher Brown and wife Jessie, Amy Mitchell, Ariel Brown, Brittany Stanton, Megan Stanton, Bradley Stanton and Karlee Stanton all of Cambridge, Wayne Stanton III and Bradley Stanton of Tennessee, Zack and Dustin Stanton of North Carolina, six great grandchildren Krista, Rusty and Daniel Tyler, Kayleigh True, Brysen Tilghman and due any day Christopher Brown, Jr. all of Cambridge, as well as two brothers and several nieces and nephews. Mabel Wilson passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Aurora Senior Living Center of Manokin.

Parks, Mary E.
On Sunday, September 28th 2014, Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Parks passed away peacefully at home in the company of loved ones, she was 87.
Originally from Brandenburg, Kentucky, Libby moved her family to Cambridge in 1962 where she worked for many years as a hairdresser. She loved her clients, her garden, and spending time with family and friends, she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by two sons, Richard L. Parks of Cambridge and Herbert B. Parks of Greensboro NC, her daughter in law, Jacqueline Parks of Cambridge and seven grandchildren, Glenn Parks of Seattle, Washington, Melody Parks-Saylor of Salisbury, Heather Erzine, Christopher Parks, Selena Parks, Jesse Parks, and Diamond Parks, all of Greensboro NC, and one great grandson, Ian Saylor of Salisbury, three sisters, Judy Angeloff, and Cathy Staples, both of Brandenburg, Kentucky, Dorothy Whitehead of Roanoke, Virginia, and one brother, Herbert Chism of Louisville, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her son Joseph Nelson Parks.
A private graveside service will be held for family. Arrangements are in the care of Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
Arnie, Tillie J.
Tillie J. Arnie, 89, of Cambridge passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at her home with her caregivers by her side. She was born in Cambridge on June 19, 1925 and was a daughter of the late Frank F. and Katie Tjaden Arnie.
Ms. Arnie attended schools in Cambridge. In her earlier years, she had worked in a sewing factory and later at Coldwater Seafood. Ms. Arnie enjoyed gardening.
Besides her parents, Ms. Arnie is preceded in death by a son Edward Arnie, a sister Elizabeth Johnson, four brothers Franklin Darcy Arnie, Matthew Vernon Arnie, John Frederick Arnie and Robert Eugene Arnie, two sisters in law Emma Arnie and Rosalee Arnie.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Dorchester Memorial Park. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
McClain, Doris F.
Doris Elizabeth Everhart Frosch McClain, 86, formerly of Hudson passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at her home in Bowie. She was born in Hudson on January 14, 1928 and was a daughter of the late John Russell Everhart and Helen Spedden Everhart.
Mrs. McClain graduated from Cambridge High School, where she was top in her class and also graduated from Cambridge Hospital Nursing School where she received her Registered Nurse certificate. She was a supervising operating nurse at Dorchester General Hospital and later she worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Washington, DC and Glenn Dale Hospital in Glenn Dale, MD. On January 31, 1950, she married Lt. Col. Kenneth Frosch who passed away on May 20, 1978. She later married Carroll T. “Jack” McClain on September 25, 1993, who passed away on February 8, 2012. She enjoyed cooking, reading and was active in her community. She was a member of Spedden United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter Sharon F. Sweet of Bowie, a son Kenneth M. Frosch of Alexandria, VA, two stepsons Dale H. McClain and wife Kendra “Sissy” of Cambridge and Thomas P. McClain of Cambridge, a step daughter Beth M. Wilson and husband Brett of Rhodesdale, grandchildren Jessica Sweet, Devin Sweet, John Still, Shawn Wingate, Victoria Wingate, Drew Wilson, Adam Wilson, Lisa Roberts, Jeni Lewis, Jeri Collins, Michelle Steinbeck, Blaire Adams and Blaine Williamson, and thirteen great grandchildren. Besides her parents, Mrs. McClain is preceded in death by her first husband Kenneth Frosch, a son John Forsch, a sister Jean Bigio, grandsons Adam Wingate and Brent Williamson.
Pallbearers will be John Still, Drew Wilson, Adam Wilson, Dale McClain, Donald Bell and Shawn Wingate.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Pastor Pam Bockart officiating. Interment will follow at Spedden Seward Cemetery. Shenton, Jerome H. "Zack"

Jerome “Zack” Shenton went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 27, 2014. He was born on September 22, 1926 in Taylors Island and was the son of the late Milton and Lavenia Burton Shenton. He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Madeline L. Shenton, a brother Milton M. Shenton and a sister Kathleen S. Mowbray. He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Shenton served in the U.S. Navy during WWII upon the USS Herbert J. Thomas, a DD833 Destroyer in the South Pacific from 1943 to 1945.
He owned and operated Shenton’s Body and Paint Shop, originally in Dunns Alley in 1960; then in 1963 built his shop at 503 Henry Street in Cambridge.
Zack attended the “Little” Taylors Island United Methodist Church for 73 years, and has been on the board of directors for the past 20 years. For 11 years, he was the bass singer in the Chaplin Quartet.
Mr. Shenton was an avid Skeet Shooter, claiming Jack Daniels Grand Opening 410 Champion in 1976 and 1977 and State Champion 5 man team in 1977, 1979 and 1980. He was also Navy team champion in 410, 28, 20 and 12 gauge guns. He was AAA across the board in all four guns, better known as the “Big Gun.” Zack shot competitions from Florida to Maine. He was a member of the Cambridge Skeet Club for about fifty years and on the board of directors for the past twenty.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Robert G. Kirkley officiating. Burial will take place afterwards at Old Trinity Churchyard. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Ratcliffe, Mary E.
Mary Elizabeth Cannon Ratcliffe, 94, of Cambridge passed away on Friday, October 3, 2014 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury. Born in Fishing Creek on March 28, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Walter Bain Cannon and Mariah Eva Lewis Cannon.
Mrs. Ratcliffe graduated from Hoopers Island High School with the class of 1937, where she was valedictorian. She was the wife of Charlie H. (Buck) Ratcliffe, who passed away on October 31, 1990. She grew up attending Hoosier Memorial Church with her family and in 1984 became a member of Zion United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Ratcliffe is survived by two daughters Mary Ellen Webster (and husband Wallace J.) of Hebron and Trudy Katherine Leager (and husband John H.) of Easton, a sister June Cannon Alt of Baltimore, four grandchildren Terry L. Webster, Jay R. Webster (and wife Betty), Bobbi Jo Webster and John H Leager, Jr., two great grandchildren Devin Webster and Megan Wise, and several nephews. Besides her parents and her husband is Mrs. Ratcliffe is preceded in death by two brothers J. Paul Cannon and W. Emmett Cannon and a sister Bertrude Cannon Curlander.
Pallbearers will be John Leager, Sr., Jay Webster, Mark Alt, John Leager, Jr., Devin Webster and Garrett Alt.
