DARIOUS F. SISLER
OLDTOWN - Darious Franklin Sisler, 72, of Oldtown, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Feb. 16, 1925, in Terra Alta, W.Va., he was the son of the late Fred and Sarah P. (Snyder) Sisler. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Regina Sisler on Aug. 23, 1990; one brother, Fred Sisler; two sisters, Missouri Carder and Madeline Adams; one sister-in-law, Ruth Sisler; two brothers-in-law, John Carder and Morgan Adams.
Mr. Sisler was a member of the Oliver's Grove United Methodist Church, Oldtown. He was retired from the CSX Railroad after 43 years of service, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 143rd AAA Gun Battalion in Europe. He also was a lifetime member of the District 16 Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Oldtown V.F.W. Mr. Sisler was an avid hunter and bird watcher who enjoyed square dancing in his younger years.
Surviving are three daughters, Priscilla Frey and husband, Bob, Fairmont, W.Va., Carolan Deffinbaugh and husband, Larry, Flintstone, and Sharon Boteler and husband, William, Frederick; one son, David Sisler and wife, Dawn, Oldtown; one sister, Helen Pingley and husband, John, Somerset, Pa.; two brothers, Clyde Sisler and wife Mary, Wiley Ford, W.Va., and Danny Sisler and wife, Dot, Michigan; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Avenue, on Wednesday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. There will be no visitation on Thursday.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Glenn F. Stevens, Sr., officiating. Interment will be in Davis Memorial cemetery.
Military honors will be accorded by Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
The family requests contributions be made to District 16 Volunteer Fire Department or to Oliver's Grove United Methodist Church, Oldtown.
MAUDIE C. SISLER
MOUNTAIN LAKE PARK, Md.- Maudie C. Sisler, 73, of Fort Pierce, Fla., formerly of Mountain Lake Park, died on Friday, Nov. 7, 1997, at Columbia Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce.
She was born Sept. 16, 1924, in Wilson, and was a daughter of the late Grover Sisler and Stella (Cooper) Sisler.
Miss Sisler was an avid quilter and a lifelong member of the United Penticostal Church, Oakland.
She is survived by two brothers, Donald Sisler, Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Mayo Sisler and wife, Joan, Jensen Beach, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Sisler, Mountain Lake Park; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Roger Zimmerman and the Rev. Ralph Jacks officiating.
Interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
The family requests memorials be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
JOSEPH F. SKELLEY, SR.
CUMBERLAND - Joseph F. Skelley Sr., 87, formerly of 229 Baltimore Avenue, Cumberland, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 1997, at Lions Manor Nursing Home.
Born on April 10, 1910, in Zilman, he was the son of the late Ralph B. Skelley Sr. and Lula Mae (Lease) Skelley. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Velma J. (Ralston) Skelley, on Feb. 7, 1983; and a stepson, Thomas R. Sweitzer, on Feb. 10, 1996.
Mr. Skelley was the retired owner/operator of Skelley's Appliances and Repair, Pine Avenue, Cumberland, and was formerly employed at the Celanese Corporation as a machinist. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Cumberland Council No. 586 and Chief Justice Taney Assembly, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.
Surviving are one son, Joseph F. Skelley Jr., Cumberland; one stepdaughter, Patricia J. Sweitzer, Flintstone; one sister, Eleanor Bridges, Cresaptown; one brother, Ralph B. Skelley Jr., Cresaptown; nine grandchildren; 17 great- grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Kight Funeral Home, 309-311 De-catur St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Oldtown Road, Cumberland, on Wednesday at 9 a.m. with the Rev. Milton A. Hipsley as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery.
A Christian wake service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 8:15 p.m.
PAUL E. SKELLEY
CRESAPTOWN - Paul Edward Skelley, 22, of Meadow Avenue, Cresaptown, died Monday, April 14, 1997, at Memorial Hospital from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident.
Born Dec. 16, 1974, in Cumberland, he was the son of Edward and Deborah (Hedrick) Skelley, Cresaptown.
Mr. Skelley worked out of Local 568 Ironworkers. He was a member of the Cresaptown Eagles.
Surviving in addition to his parents are one sister, Sommer Skelley, Cresaptown; paternal grandmother, Iona Skelley, Cresaptown; maternal grandparents, Dick and Carol Hedrick, Rock Hill, S.C.; aunts and uncles, Sharon and Kevin Kamauf, JoAnna and Floyd Skelley, and Larna and Bob George, all of Cresaptown, Dave and Christy Hedrick, Mike and Lisa Hedrick, and Mark and Ashley Hedrick, all of Rock Hill, S.C.; and also many wonderful friends.
We will all miss his smiling face.

HARVEY SKIDMORE SR.
MIDLOTHIAN - Harvey Skidmore Sr., 77, of 11511 Blan Avon Road, Midlothian, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 1997, at his residence.
Born Sept. 18, 1920, in Shaft, he was the son of the late Howard "Jake" Skidmore Sr. and Elvira (Davis) Skidmore. He also was preceded in death by one sister, JoAnn Green; and one grandson, Nathan Richards.
Mr. Skidmore was a member of the Trinity Assembly of God Church, Midlothian, where he formerly was a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He retired as the owner and operator of Skidmore Auto Wreckers, Midlothian. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Isabelle (Speir) Skidmore; one daughter, Roberta K. Richards, at home, and friend Don Fansler, Cumberland; two sons, Harvey Skidmore Jr. and wife Bonnie, Midlothian, and Hugh Speir Skidmore and fiancee Cheryl Ann Kenney, Frostburg; two sisters, LaMont Ross and husband Lewis, Shaft, and Mary E. Weindorf, Alexandria, Va.; two brothers, Darward Skidmore and wife Helen, Midlothian, and Howard Skidmore Jr. and wife Catherine, Midlothian; seven grandchildren, Shaunna Leigh Skidmore, Jessica Ann Skidmore, Tara Lee Skidmore, Eric Michael Skidmore, Justin David Richards, Wayne Allen Skidmore and Randy Scott Skidmore; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Trinity Assembly of God Church, Midlothian, on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jimmie Blair officiating.
Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park with military rites accorded by the Farrady Post 24 American Legion Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Stanley Taylor, James Taylor, James Miller, Ralph Murphy, Jess Williams and Lowell Chapman.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Memorial Hospital Hospice Unit, the American Cancer Society, or to the family.
VIRGINIA M. SKIDMORE
MOUNT SAVAGE - Virginia "Red" May Skidmore, 64, of 16200 Red's Lane, Slabtown/Mount Savage, and Lakeland, Fla., went to be with the Lord on March 22, 1997, at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
Born April 3, 1932, in Mount Savage, she was the daughter of the late John and Virginia (Gordon) Winebrenner Sr. She also was preceded in death by one brother, John Winebrenner Jr.
Mrs. Skidmore worked in the garment industry: Cumberland Undergarment, Cumberland Blouse, Top of All, Doe Spun, and Berkowitz for approximately 30 years. She was involved in Boy Scouting, sports, and other events with her children as they grew. She enjoyed bingo and the company of friends, especially in later years. Mrs. Skidmore was in failing health the past eight years and was quite fortunate to have a loving husband who took care of her every need. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and could always find the good in the simplest things. She will be deeply missed; her legacy of love and the memories of her will be etched in the hearts of the ones left behind. She was a member of the Mount Savage United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband of 46 years, Jack E. Skidmore; four sons, Wayne and wife Vickie (Lease) Skidmore, Neal "Pete" and wife Donna (Albright) Skidmore, Kevin Skidmore, all of Slabtown, and Denny and wife Rhonda (Hitchins) Skidmore, Potomac Park; one daughter, Jacque and husband Terry Golden, Slabtown; two brothers, Ken Winebrenner and wife Jean, Slabtown, and Mike Winebrenner, Westminster; five grandchildren, Lisa and Heather Abucevicz, and April, Jason and Becky Skidmore, all of Slabtown; one step granddaughter, Angel Africa and husband Sam; three step great-granddaughters, Brooke, Emily, and Karlee Africa, all of Corriganville.
Mrs. Skidmore's prior request of cremation was honored. Friends are welcomed to attend a memorial service, to honor her life and rebirth, on Easter Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Mount Savage United Methodist Church with the Rev. George Harpold officiating.
