MARY LELAH SMITH
CUMBERLAND - Mary Lelah Smith, 88, of Bedford Road, Cumberland, died Thursday, May 1, 1997, at her nephew's home in Cresaptown.
Born February 10, 1909, in Buckhannon, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Harry O. and Laura Anne (Thorne) Morris. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Harry V. Smith, July 5, 1955; a twin sister, Margaret L. Morris, May 1, 1992; two other sisters, Louise Elkins, August 19, 1992, and Joan Rice, February 22, 1997; and a brother, Carl Morris.
Surviving are a nephew, Eddie Morris and wife Jo Ellen, with whom she resided in Cresaptown; a brother, George H. Morris, Cumberland; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Harold McClay Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in Zion Memorial Park.
PATRICIA A. SMITH
CRESAPTOWN - Patricia Ann (Shepherd) Smith, 59, of Winchester Road, Cresaptown, died Wednesday, March 5, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Feb. 13, 1938, in Cresaptown, she was the daughter of the late Alta Effie (Ullery) Shepherd and Louis A. Shepherd Sr., Cresaptown.
Mrs. Smith was a homemaker. She was Protestant by faith.
Surviving are one son, Herbey L. Smith and wife Tracy, Cresaptown; two brothers, Louis A. Shepherd Jr. and wife Carol, Jacksonville, Fla., and Fred H. Shepherd and wife Sue, Chicago; and several aunts and uncles.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cresaptown, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. James Peters officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.
WILLIAM S. SMITH
GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio - William S. Smith, 68, of Garfield Heights, died Tuesday, March 4, 1997, at Marymount Hospital, Garfield Heights.
Born April 4, 1928, in Frostburg, Md., he was the son of the late William Smith and Mary (Dolme) Smith.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Smith; one son, Greg Smith; two daughters, Kathi Smith and Connie Herczak; and two grandchildren, Jennifer and Grant.
Services will be conducted at the Hathaway United Methodist Church on Friday, March 7, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Mel Lindberg officiating.
Burial will be in the Crown Hill cemetery, Twinsburg.
The Vito-Nero Funeral Home, Garfield Heights, is in charge of arrangements.
ELIZABETH J. SMYTH
CUMBERLAND - Elizabeth J. Smyth, 103, of Cumberland Nursing Home, formerly of Greene Street and Winchester Road, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997, at the nursing home.
Born Dec. 9, 1894, in Sweetwater, Tenn., she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Abbott; second husband, Harry L. Smyth; one daughter, Emma L. Mackey; and sons, William M. Abbott, Timothy C. Abbott, Vaughn Abbott, and Kenneth Abbott.
Mrs. Smyth was a homemaker and a member of the Living Stone Church of the Brethren. For many years she ran a boarding house on Greene Street.
Surviving are two granddaughters, who were her care-watchers, Betty J. Taylor, Ridgeley, W.Va., and Joann Llewellyn, Bedford, Pa.; one grandson, Timothy Abbott, Florida; seven great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-granddaughter.
Services will be conducted at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Timothy L. Monn officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Cumberland.
RUTH P. SNIDER
CUMBERLAND - Ruth P. Snider, 77, of Moore's Hollow Road, SE, Cumberland, died Friday, Oct. 3, 1997, at Memorial Hospital Hospice.
Born July 18, 1920, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Myrtha (Rice) Stafford. She also was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Krista Snider Smith.
Mrs. Snider was a homemaker. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Cumberland, and the District 16 Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are her husband, Homer R. Snider; one son, Allan W. Snider and wife Deana, Cumberland; two daughters, Deloris Landis, Orange Park, Fla., and Brenda Mincey and husband Steve, Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Floyd Stafford and wife Betty, Cumberland, Roy Stafford, Sr. and wife Eloise, Corriganville; two sisters, Wilma Lantz and husband Donald, Cumberland, and Mary Hamilton and husband Earl, Boonsboro; three grandchildren, Kevin Snider, Cumberland, Jeff Landis and wife Beth, Carpendale, W.Va., and Mark Landis, Jacksonville; and five great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home Monday at 1 p.m. with the Pastor Brian Savage officiating. Interment will be in Mount Herman cemetery, Cumberland.

MOUNT SAVAGE - Allan Earl Snyder, Sr., 82, of 13106 Yellow Row Road, N.W., Mount Savage, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 1997, at his residence after an extended illness.
Born Oct. 16, 1914, he was the son of the late Frank and Alice (Crowe) Snyder. He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Archie Spriggs, Robert Brant, and Alfred Crowe.
Mr. Snyder was retired from the Mount Savage Refractories Company and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Mount Savage United Methodist Church and the Mount Savage Volunteer Fire Company.
Surviving are his wife, Ida Mae (Brown) Snyder; one brother, Reaford Crowe, Mount Savage; three sons, Allan E. Snyder, Jr., and wife, Peggy, Frostburg, Gary E. Snyder and wife, Sharon, Mount Savage, and Larry T. Snyder and wife, Roxann, Mount Savage; two daughters, Karen M. Snyder, Cumberland, and Linda L. Yates, Mount Savage; six grandchildren, Jeff, Jennifer, Scott, Trissa, Bobby and Renee; one great-granddaughter, Megan.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Mount Savage United Methodist Church on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Richard C. Broome, Jr., officiating.
Interment will be in the Mount Savage United Methodist cemetery.

CLARA A. SNYDER
MOUNTAIN LAKE PARK - Clara A. Snyder, 86, of A Street, Mountain Lake Park, died Monday, Sept. 8, 1997, at the home of her daughter in Finksburg.
Born Nov. 29, 1910 in Caddell, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Cyrena (Cline) Miner. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Snyder, in 1959, and by three sons, Lyverl Snyder, Frederick Snyder, and David L. Snyder.
She was Baptist by faith.
She is survived by two daughters, Marguerite Sanchez, Finksburg, and Barbara Friend, Parkersburg, W.Va.; one son, Alexander Snyder, Oakland; one sister, Violet Miller, Fairmont, W.Va.; three daughters-in-law, Minnie Snyder, Oakland, Gladys Snyder, Mountain Lake Park, and Jeanetta McClure, Baltimore; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Ferndale Baptist Church on Thursday, Sept. 11, 1997, at 1 p.m. with The Rev. Richard Tepper officiating.
Interment will be in the Ferndale cemetery.
Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services.
