HENRY R. RUTHERFORD
CUMBERLAND - Henry Richard Rutherford, 78, of Locust Grove, Cumberland, died Tuesday, June 10, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born June 20, 1918, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Winfield Scott and Flora Belle (Smith) Rutherford. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Helen L. (Drew) Rutherford, in 1972; one daughter, Debra Clark, in 1992; and one son, Edwin Kellock, in 1996.

Mr. Rutherford was a retired employee of Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. with 44 years of service, retiring in 1987. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served with the Radio Signal Corps. He was former owner and operator of Price's Furniture Store, N. Centre St. He taught radio electronics at Fort Hill High School in the early years after World War II.

Surviving are three daughters, Dorothy Wileman and husband Ronald, Bel Air, Helen O'Baker and husband David, Ridgeley, W.Va., and Linda Davis and husband David, Mechanicsburg, Pa.; two sisters, Elizabeth Farrell, Virginia Beach, Va., and Ida Mae Williams, Chattanooga, Tenn.; a niece and friend, Annabelle Stevenson, retired R.N., Cumberland; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., on Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 9 a.m.

Interment will be in Davis Memorial cemetery.

CHESTER L. ROBINETTE SR.
FLINTSTONE - Chester L. Robinette Sr., 85, formerly of Flintstone, then of Raleigh, N.C., died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1997, at Western Wake Medical Center, Cary, N.C.
Born April 18, 1912, in Flintstone, he was the son of the late Harry and Bessie (Hartsock) Robinette. He also was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Mr. Robinette was a self-employed farmer, a retired school bus driver, a member of the Flintstone United Methodist Church, and the Allegany County Farm Bureau.

Surviving are his wife, Mary (Morgan) Robinette; one son, Lee Robinette and wife Janet, Cary, N.C.; and two grandsons, Jeffrey and Michael Robinette.

Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Fred Iser officiating.

Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Robinette to Flintstone United Methodist Church, Flintstone, MD 21530, or to the donor's choice.

Serving as pallbearers will be T.R. Robinette, Kenny Robinette, Thorton Robinette, Jack Bowman, Doug Bowman, and Steve Bowman. Honorary pallbearers will be all nephews of Mr. Robinette.

MARY E. ROBESON
FROSTBURG - Mary E. Robeson, 76, of 62 High St., died Sunday, Sept. 14, 1997, at her home.
Born Apr. 24, 1921, in Clearfield, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Frantz) Malloy.

She was retired from G.C. Murphy Company. Mrs. Robeson was a member of Frostburg United Methodist Church and the Frostburg Museum Association.

Surviving are her husband, Vernon R. Robeson; one daughter, Dr. Bonnie Robeson, Columbia; three brothers, John Malloy, William Malloy, and Harry Malloy, all of Vintondale, Pa.; one sister, Gertrude Gibson, Clinton, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George A. Aist officiating.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Frostburg United Methodist Church or to the Allegany County Stroke Club.

RICHARD L. ROBERTSON, SR.
MIDLAND - Richard Lemon Robertson Sr., 75, of cemetery Road, Midland, formerly of Alexandria, Va., died Friday, Aug. 15, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born July 10, 1922, in Lonaconing, he was a son of the late Andrew Robertson and Mary (Patton) Robertson. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen (Monahon) Robertson, Dec. 26, 1995; and two brothers, Robert Robertson and Andrew Robertson.

He retired as an electrician at Fort Belvoir, Va. He was a member of the James P. Love Post No. 92 American Legion, Lonaconing. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are one son, Richard L. Robertson Jr., Stephens City, Va.; two daughters, Pamela R. Williams, Fairfax, Va., and Dierdre R. Glossner, Glen Burnie; one sister, Adeline Robertson Wolford, Frostburg; and 10 grandchldren.

Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, Lonaconing, on Monday, Aug. 18, 1997, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Richard Mortimore officiating.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Richard Williams Sr., Richard Williams Jr., Matthew Williams, William Glossner, and Richard L. Robertson Jr.

PAULINE G. ROBERTSON
CUMBERLAND - Pauline G. Robertson, of 625 Lincoln St., went to be with our Lord and Savior on April 21, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 25, 1909, in Bethel Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harry W. and Carrie (Smith) Houser. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Burdett Seldon Robertson, in 1957; and a son, Wyman Gerald Robertson, in 1975.

Mrs. Robertson was a member of Melvin United Methodist Church, and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. Mrs. Robertson came to Cumberland from Hershey, Pa., in 1946.

Surviving are her loving daughters and sons, Marvel Almond and husband William, Gladys Potts and husband R. Harold, Pauline "Dolly" Shipley and husband John, Jean Appel, and Judith Young and husband Robert, all of Cumberland, Janice Burner and husband David, Houma, La., Cleon Robertson and wife Janet, Kensington, and Kenneth L. Robertson, with whom she resided.

She also is survived by her loving grandchildren, Jeanne (Almond) Markle and husband Gerald, Keyser, W.Va., William Almond and wife Cheri, LaVale, Kim (Almond) Smith and husband Marvin, Cumberland, Chris Almond and wife Denise, LaVale, Laurie (Robertson) Fleece, Cleveland, Ohio, Kenneth J. Robertson and wife Pattie, Cleveland, Ohio, Michael Robertson and wife Catherine, Mentor, Ohio, Dale Robertson and wife Rose, Lakewood, Ohio, Steven Potts and wife Debbie, Cumberland, Keith Potts and wife Anne, Ellerslie, Douglas Potts, Montgomery, Ala., Tammy (Potts) Beres and husband Allan, Ocean City, Cleon "Chuck" Robertson and wife Angie, Wheaton, Paula Robertson, Kensington, Nancy (Appel) Plummer and husband Gene, Middletown, Pa., Gary Appel Jr. and wife Lisa, Canton, Ohio, Jeffery Appel and wife Sallie, Everett, Pa., Jennifer (Appel) McCullough and husband Richard, Orrstown, Pa., Wendy Appel, Orange, Va., Lloyd Appel, Cumberland, Cameron Appel, Cumberland, Kevin Young and wife Tammy, Elkridge, Krista (Young) Cave and husband Phillip, Lexington, Ky., Robert Young and wife Anne, Eldersburg, Allison (Young) Olivera and husband Julio, Finksburg, and Andrea Burner, Erica Burner, and Grant Burner, all of Houma, La.

She also is survived by her beloved daughter-in-law, Eleanor Komperda, Cleveland, Ohio; a brother, John Houser, Lebanon, Pa.; and 34 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9p.m.

Services will be conducted at Melvin United Methodist Church on the corner of Marion and Reynolds streets on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Leslie and Pastor Richard Riley officiating.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Bill Almond, Kenneth J. Robertson, Steve Potts, Chuck Robertson, Gary Appel Jr., and Kevin Young.

The family requests that memorial gifts be made to the Melvin Church Bell Choir or the Melvin Scholarship Fund.

MARY E. ROBERTSON
CUMBERLAND - Mary E. Robertson, 91, of the Allegany County Nursing Home, formerly of Columbia Street, Cumberland, died Wednesday, March 19, 1997, at the nursing home.
Born March 8, 1906, in Harrisburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George and Rachael (Schuman) Kreiger. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Hayes McKinley Robertson, in 1986; two daughters, Mary Kaylor and Waneta Stein; three brothers, John, Nels and Bill Kreiger; and one sister, Grace Robinette.

Mrs. Robertson was retired from the Celanese Corp. after 37 years of service. She was a member of the Fairview Avenue Methodist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Betty L. Colbert and husband Ray, Clinton, and Sandra L. Wanless and husband Bill, Leesburg, Va.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Cynthia L. Frye officiating.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Cumberland.
