IDA S. PURGITT
FROSTBURG - Ida S. Purgitt, 89, of Frostburg, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 1997, at the Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle W. Purgitt; a sister, Thelma Snead; and one son, Richard Purgitt. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Purgitt moved to Frostburg after she retired as front office cashier at the Madison Hotel, Washington, D.C. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church.
Surviving are a son, Douglas Purgitt and wife Barbara, Eatontown, N.J.; a daughter, Rebecca Hughes and husband Ben, Frostburg; five granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; and one great-great-grandson.
At Mrs. Purgitt's request, her body was donated to the Georgetown University Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

WILLIAM L. PUGH
CUMBERLAND - William "Bill" Leo Pugh, 75, of 915 1/2 Bedford St., Cumberland, died Monday, July 14, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Born April 26, 1922, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late William Leo Pugh Sr. and the late Florence (Lynch) Pugh. He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Veronica Reitz and Anna Birmingham.
Mr. Pugh was a retired teacher at Columbia Street School with 31 years of service. He retired in 1984. Mr. Pugh was a graduate of Beall High School 1939 and Frostburg State in 1953. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Inter-church League Bowling Team, Satellite League, BPOE Elks Club Lodge 63 and the Retired Teachers Association. He was a veteran of the US Army World War II.
Surviving are his wife Betty (Moon) Pugh, Cumberland; one daughter, Vickie Collins and husband Dale, Cumberland; one son, Adrian Pugh, Baltimore; and one granddaughter, Kelly D. Collins, Hagerstown.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. An Elks Memorial Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9 a.m. with the Father Robert Passarelli officiating.
Pallbearers will be all of Mr. Pugh's nephews, Brad Moon, Larry Moon, Jay Moon, Richard Buckel, Kim Buckel and Thomas Birmingham.
Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Patrick's Catholic Church or Memorial Hospital Hospice Unit.
WILLIAM R. PUFFENBARGER
INDIAN HEAD - William Robert Puffenbarger, 75, of 3980 Smallwood Church Road, Indian Head, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 1997, at the Physicians Memorial Hospital, LaPlata.
Born June 16, 1922, in Elkins, W.Va., he was the son of the late James R. and Sallie Belle (Ryder) Puffenbarger. He also was preceded in death by one son, William Bruce Puffenbarger; and one daughter, Carol Ann Puffenbarger.
Mr. Puffenbarger was retired as leading man in ground maintenance for the Naval Ordinance Station, and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the Nanjemoy Baptist Church, Nanjemoy.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Lee (Wright) Puffenbarger, Indian Head; a daughter, Sandra Chapman, Potomac Heights; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Puffinbarger, Indian Head; two brothers, Maynard Puffenbarger, Rawlings, and Russell Puffenbarger, Cumberland; two sisters, Margaret Groneck, Temple, Texas, and Juanita Kline, Wiley Ford, W.Va., five grandsons, G. David Harrison Jr., Nanjemoy, Craig Robert Chapman, Bryans Road, William "Pete" Bruce Puffenbarger, Marbury, James Robert Puffenbarger Jr., Indian Head, and Scott Owen Puffenbarger, Ripley; and six great-granddaughters, Heather Harrison, Christina Harrison, and Jacqueline Harrison, all of Nanjemoy, Carrie Chapman, Bryans Road, Brittany Puffenbarger, Marbury, and Laura Puffenbarger, Ripley; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends were received at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, LaPlata, on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Services were held at the Nanjemoy Baptist Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Cunningham and the Rev. John Bradburn officiating.
Interment was in Nanjemoy Baptist Church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gordon Gilroy, Bobby Gilroy, David Harrison, Craig Chapman, Pete Puffenbarger, Bobby Puffenbarger, and Scott Puffenbarger.
CLARENCE L. PRYOR
FROSTBURG - Clarence L. "Pat" Pryor, 79, of Frostburg, died Monday, Nov. 3, 1997, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
Born June 14, 1918, in Eckhart Mines, he was the son of the late Joseph and Florence (Himmelwright) Pryor.
Mr. Pryor was retired from Memorial Hospital. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Lillian (Lancaster) Pryor, Frostburg; one son, Allen Pryor and wife Roxann, Lonaconing; two daughters, Gerri Baker and husband Mike, Cumberland, and Marlene Diggs and husband Mark, Carpendale, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Ron Nicol and wife Jennifer, Frostburg, Kandi Nicol, Cumberland, Clint Bridges and Holly Bridges, both of Lonaconing, and Allison Diggs, Carpendale; two great-grandchildren, Jesse and Ami Nicol, both of Frostburg; and two brothers, Glenn Pryor and Donald Pryor, both of Eckhart.
There will be no visitation.
At Mr. Pryor's request, his body was cremated. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

RALPH S. PRITTS
GRANTSVILLE - Ralph Steward Pritts, 59, of 8475 National Pike, Grantsville, died Friday, Nov. 21, 1997, at his residence.
Born Jan. 6, 1938, he was the son of the late Ellis Pritts and Alma (Ross) Pritts. He also was preceded in death by one brother, William G. Pritts.
Mr. Pritts was a member of the Summit Mills Grace Brethren Church, a life member and Post Commander of the Harris-Walker VFW Post No. 8826, Salisbury, Pa., life member of Grantsville American Legion Post No. 214, and a life member of the 82nd Airborne Association.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Fitzpatrick) Pritts; one son, Ralph Pritts Jr. and wife Teresa, Bland, Va.; one daughter, Lori Keister and husband Ron, Frostburg; two brothers, Ray Pritts, Elyria, Ohio, and Ellis Pritts Jr., Lancaster, Pa.; four sisters, Eunice Walter, Somerset, Pa., Rose Ellen Pritts, Salisbury, Pa., Carol Kyle, Meyersdale, Pa., and Janet Heller, Johnstown, Pa.; and three grandchildren, Ronald Keister Jr., Kendra Pritts, and Ryan Pritts.
Friends will be recieved at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Fetter officiating.
Interment will be in Grantsville cemetery.
Military honors will be accorded at the graveside by various area service organizations.
JUANITA N. PRATT
OAKLAND - Juanita Nolba Pratt, 89, formerly of Deep Creek Village, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 1997, at the Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.
Mrs. Pratt was born April 3, 1908, in Lima, Ohio, and was a daughter of the late William Frederick Batty and Leona (Kettlewell) Batty.
Mrs. Pratt held the unique position of serving as an administrative secretary to two admirals concurrently during World War II in Washington, D.C. She and her family retired to Deep Creek Village in the early 1960's to enjoy the serenity of the Youghiogheny River. Mrs. Pratt especially enjoyed the birds and wildlife, and the ever changing scenic views of the river.
Mrs. Pratt was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Orrell Pratt.
She is survived by one son, William James Pratt and his wife Margaret; a granddaughter, Egan Sarah Pratt, all of Frostburg; one brother-in-law, Samuel Baldwin Pratt, Waynesboro, Va.; along with many dear and faithful friends from Garrett County. She will be missed by all.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A service will be conducted in the Chapel of Garrett County Memorial Gardens on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father Chip Lee officiating.
Interment will follow.
Remembrances will be appreciated as flowers or contributions in her name to the Goodwill Mennonite Home.
