FLORIS D. RAINES
CUMBERLAND - Floris David Raines, 67, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 1997, at his residence.
Born Jan. 17, 1930, in Springfield, W.Va., he was the son of the late Floris R. and Mamie Belle (Fuller) Raines. He also was preceded in death by one brother.
Mr. Raines retired as a driver with the Teamsters working for Z&M; Motors.
Surviving are two brothers, Clifton R. Raines, Lake Worth, Fla., and Arvel H. Raines, Fort Ashby, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, W.Va., on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Norman Landis officiating.
Interment will be in Indian Mound cemetery, Romney.
CHARLES W. MARTIN
HAGERSTOWN - Charles William Martin, 51, of Hagerstown, formerly of Artemas, Pa., died Sunday, Aug. 3, 1997, in Hagerstown after a short illness.
Born Oct. 13, 1945, in Frederick, he was the son of William W. Martin and Margaret (Rout) Martin, Artemas, Pa.
Mr. Martin was a veteran of the US Army. He was a military helicopter mechanic who was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He was stationed in Augsburg, Germany, for eight years. Mr. Martin was a member of the Archaeological Society of Western Maryland. He also had worked on the family farm.
Surviving besides his parents, are his wife Theresia (Zenger) Martin; two sisters, Mary Clingerman and husband John, Bunnell, Fla., and Sharon Peck and husband Marvin L., Flintstone; one nephew, Kevin Clingerman and wife Melissa, Fla.; one niece, Kimberly Clark and husband Todd, Everett, Pa.; and three great nephews.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
A committal service will be conducted at the Rocky Gap cemetery Chapel on Wednesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Fred Iser officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.
RODNEY L. MILLER
FROSTBURG - Rodney Lee Miller, 48, of 30 Beall's Lane, Frostburg, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 1997, at his residence.
Born Feb. 22, 1949, in Frostburg, he was the son of Mary E. (Livingston) Miller, Meyersdale, Pa., and the late Harold H. Miller. He also was preceded in death by one sister, M. Earlene Smith.
Mr. Miller was a stone mason by trade, a licensed contractor, and was former owner and operator of Mike's Tavern. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Vietnam conflict and a retired major in the Army Reserve National Guard. He was a member of Farrady Post No. 24 American Legion, Mountain Lodge No. 99 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, Scottish Rite Bodies, Cumberland, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Arie No. 1273, and the Lonaconing Republican Club.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are one son, Daniel F. Miller, Shaft; ex-wife, Marsha (Hinkelman) Miller, Shaft; one brother, Harold N. Miller, Zihlman; one sister, Janet (Miller) Wilson, Frostburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mountain Lodge No. 99 AF&AM; will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Monday at 7:30 p.m., and the Frostburg Eagles Arie No. 1273 will conduct a memorial service at 8 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Charles A. Erzkus officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
The Farrady Post No. 24 American Legion Honor Guard will accord military honors at graveside.
Pallbearers will be Carey Livingston, Kenneth Livingston, Kevin Grove, John Howsare, Dave Pennington, and Herman Fiorita Sr.
ROY V. MILLER
LURAY, Va. - Roy Vernon Miller, 74, of Luray, formerly of Cumberland, died Friday, July 18, 1997, at home.
He was the son of the late Stella M. Miller and Jasper R. Miller. He also was preceded in death by his wife Marie Fleming; two brothers; and one sister.
Mr. Miller was a US Army veteran of World War II. He was a dealer in antiques and a worker in the auto body field. He entertained in nursing homes with his guitar and folk songs.
Surviving are one son, Roy V. Miller Jr., Luray; one brother, Charley F. Miller; one sister, Ethel M. Kincaid; and several nieces and nephews, all of Cumberland.
Mr. Miller's body was donated to science and there wasn't any services.

SUSAN MILLER
WASHINGTON, N.C. - Susan (Woolard) Miller, 79, of Washington, N.C., died Sunday, Aug. 3, 1997, at the Beaufort County Home, Washington, N.C.
Born Sept. 11, 1917, in Beaufort County, she was the daughter of the late William Albert and Elizabeth (Hardison) Woolard. She also was preceded in death by her husband Newman B. Miller, on Oct. 19, 1976; two brothers, W. A. Woolard and Henry Woolard.
Mrs. Miller was a Purchasing Agent for the Kelly Springfield Tire Company for over 20 years. Upon retirement, she moved to Washington, N.C., and worked in the George H. and Laura E. Brown Library. She served the library in many capacities, her love of reading to children to indexing. She was very dedicated to the library. Mrs. Miller was a member of the First Christian Church, where she was very active in the church. While in Cumberland, Md., she was a member of the Centre Street United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sons, W. Bennett Miller and wife Sharon, Hudson, Ohio, and Larry N. Miller, Washington, N.C.; three sisters, Joyce Dority and Rachel Sawyer, both of Washington, N.C., and Edith Hamilton, Lexington, S.C.; four grandchildren, Yale, Brigid, Forrest and Amanda Miller.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday from 10 to 10:45 a.m.
A graveside service will be conducted at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale, on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William H. Bice officiating.

WILLIAM S. MILLER
FROSTBURG - William S. ``Bill" Miller, 41, died Friday, April 4, 1997, at his home west of Frostburg.
Born Aug. 1, 1955, at Fort Dix, N.J., he was the son of Viola (Johnson) Miller, Frostburg, and Harold Miller, Grahamtown.
Mr. Miller was employed by Cumberland Concrete Corp. He was a 1973 graduate of Beall High School, where he played football. He attended the Frostburg Church of the Nazarene. He was a member of the Big Savage Sportsman Club; National Rifle Association; and Teamsters Union Local. He collected coins and loved to hunt and fish.
Surviving in addition to his mother and father are his stepmother, Gwendolyn Miller, Grahamtown; two sisters, Holly Robinson and husband Don, Frostburg, and Katrina Coburn and husband Joseph, Frostburg; two brothers, Greg Miller and wife Cathy, Frostburg, and Scott Miller, U.S. Air Force, stationed in Spain; two special aunts, Shirley Miller and Delores Miller, Frostburg; another aunt and five uncles; nieces and nephews, April Miller, Jesse Miller, Christopher Miller, Cody Miller, Adriel Robinson, Kalia Robinson, and Elizabeth Coburn.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Frostburg Church of the Nazarene, 150 Center St., on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Douglas Gonzales officiating.
The body will be taken to the church at noon.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Bill DeVore, Dave DeVore, Jim Welch, Don Robinson, Joey Coburn, and Dean Ullery.

KENNETH W. PLUMMER SR.
CUMBERLAND - Kenneth W. Plummer Sr., 85, of Cumberland, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 8, 1911, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Elizabeth (Wade) Plummer. He also was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret (Bedford) Plummer, in 1966; four brothers; four sisters; and one great-granddaughter, Meagan Beal.
Mr. Plummer was a retired machinist's helper from the Chessie System after 45 years of service.
Surviving are his wife, Zelma (Fisher) Plummer; one daughter, Margaret E. Teets and husband Stanley; one son, Kenneth W. Plummer Jr.; one sister, Geraldine Lewis; one brother, Alonzo Plummer, all of Cumberland; six grandchildren, Terri Bulger, Pam Teets, Danny Teets, Jeff Plummer, Kenneth Plummer III, and Kendra Plummer; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
