FROSTBURG- Florence M. Crowe, 86, of 135 Hill St., died Monday, April 28, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Eagles 1273 Auxiliary will hold a memorial service at the funeral home at 7:30. Chapter 221 Women of the Moose will hold a memorial service at the funeral home at 8 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 1 p.m. with Esther M. Kuhre, pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Memorials Fund of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 34 W. Main St., Frostburg, MD 21532.
GENE S. EDMONSON
CUMBERLAND - Gene S. Edmonson, 69, of Glenwood Street, Cumberland, died Saturday, June 28, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 23, 1927, in Paw Paw, W.Va., he was the son of the late Clinton Edmonson and Viola (Spencer) Edmonson.
Mr. Edmonson was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict; was a member of Fulton Myers Post 153, American Legion; and worked for the City of Cumberland with the MPA parking garage downtown.
Surviving are one sister, Priscilla Montgomery, Tampa, Fla.; adopted sister, LuVernie Taylor and family, Cumberland; two brothers, Clinton A. Edmonson, Paw Paw, and Leonard Edmonson, Philadelphia; one granddaughter, Starlett Redman, Cumberland; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Leasure-Stein Funeral Home, Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will held at the Veterans Chapel at Rocky Gap on Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Richard C. Broome Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.
RAYMOND M. CROWE
FREDERICK - Raymond Michael Crowe, 62, of Butterfly Lane, Frederick, died Tuesday, May 27, 1997, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 5, 1935, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late James Leroy Crowe and Ann Marie (Creegan) Crowe.
Mr. Crowe retired from Fort Detrick, where he was employed with USAMRAA, in September, 1996. He was veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and graduated from LaSalle High School, Cumberland, in 1953. He was a graduate of West Virginia University, Morgantown, W.Va., and a member of the AARP; Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association; Fort Detrick Bowling League; and Francis Scott Key American Legion Post 11, Frederick. He attended the Holy Family Catholic Community Church, Middletown.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sisters, Lee Ann Patterson and Elizabeth Homer and husband Edward, all of Alexandria, Va.; one brother, James L. Crowe and wife Carolyn, Frostburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, on Thursday, May 29, 1997, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the Holy Family Catholic Community Church, 7231 Burkittsville Road, Middletown, on Friday, May 30, 1997 at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. John Moore.
Interment will be private.
A Christian wake service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, May 29, 1997, at 7:30 p.m.
RUTH B. CROWE
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Ruth B. Crowe, 81, of San Bernardino, formerly of LaVale, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997 at the San Bernardino County Medical Center in California.
Born April 16, 1916 in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Trapp) Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer Crowe, on Dec. 31, 1993; three brothers, William, Joseph, and Edward Brown; and three sisters, Gertrude Cook, Clara Powers, and Mary Cunningham.
Mrs. Crowe was a former member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Cumberland, The Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and The Catholic Daughters of America.
Surviving are one daughter, Saundra Cummins and husband Thomas, Highland, Calif.; three sons, Ronald Miller, Weston, W.Va.; William McKenzie, Laytonville, Calif; and Robert McKenzie, Arlington, Texas; one sister, Virginia Hipsley; one brother, James Brown, both of Cumberland; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. There will be a Christian Wake service on Thursday at 8:45 p.m.

MARY E. CRUMP
MOUNT SAVAGE - Mary Elizabeth Sweene Crump, 74, of Livermore, Calif., formerly of Mount Savage, Md., died Friday, April 11, 1997.
Born Dec. 8, 1922, in Mount Savage, she was the daughter of Robert R. Sweene and Catherine (Farrell) Sweene.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, William H. Crump; one son, William H. Crump Jr. and wife Katie; three grandsons, Andrew, Daniel, and Nicholas, all of Rohnert Park, Calif.; one brother, Robert R. Sweene and wife Nancy Lee, Bethesda, Md.; one sister, Anne (Sweene) Crump and husband William Grant Crump, Corriganville, Md.; and four nephews.
The body was cremated and will be brought east for burial at a later time.
WILLIAM H. CRUMP SR.
PALO ALTO, Calif. - William Henry Crump Sr., 75, of Palo Alto, formerly of Livermore, formerly of Mount Savage, Md., died Friday, May 16, 1997, at Veteran's Hospital, Palo Alto.
Mr. Crump was born April 6, 1922, in Mount Savage. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mary E. Crump, who died April 11, 1997.
Mr. Crump was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a fire controlman first class on the destroyers U.S.S. Lamson and the U.S.S. Achernar from 1940 to 1946. He was an electronic technician/senior supervisor in the weapons field test division. He worked at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Livermore, for 30 years. He graduated from high school in Newark, N.J., and was a member of the U.S.S. Lamson Association and the U.S.S. Achernar Association. He enjoyed fencing, bowling, sports, camping, and a good game of chess.
Surviving are his son, Willliam H. Crump Jr. and wife Katie Crump; brothers Leonard Crump, Linden, N.J., and Doug Heer, Peoria, Ariz.; and three grandsons, Andrew, Nicholas, and Daniel.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetary, Arlington, Va.

ROBERT M. CURRY
VIENNA, Va. - Robert Mason Curry, 72, of Vienna, formerly of Cumberland, Md., died Friday, Sept. 26, 1997, at Vienna while working in the town's print shop.
Mr. Curry was born in Cumberland, a son of the late Raymond and Blanche Curry. He was a 1943 graduate of Fort Hill High School, Cumberland, and served in the 93rd Combat Engineer Battalion on Guadalcanal and in the Philippine Islands.
Mr. Curry became the town's first zoning administrator in 1968 and served there until his retirement in 1987. Mr. Curry enjoyed fishing and golf and was committed to charitable causes. He belonged to the Vienna Lions Club for 35 years and is credited with starting the club's popular Christmas tree sale.
Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Lucille Curry; two sons, Ray Curry, Haymarket, and Kevin Jester, Vienna; a daughter, Karen Martin, Vienna; a sister, Betty Curry Edwards, Charlotte, N.C.; a nephew, Timothy Edwards, Kingsport, Tenn; four grandsons, Nickolas and Zachary Jester, Vienna, and Brian and Robert Curry, Haymarket; and one granddaughter, Beth Martin, Vienna.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 29, 1997, at Wesley United Methodist Church, Vienna.
HEYWARD S. CUSTER
OAKLAND - Heyward Simon Custer, 92, of Oakland, died on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 1997, at Cuppett-Weeks Nursing Home, Oakland.
Born Dec. 9, 1904, in Grantsville, he was a son of the late Clarence I. and Melissa (Warnick) Custer. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Effie (Friend) Custer, in 1979.
Mr. Custer was a retired farmer and a member of the Mountain Top Christian Assembly.
Surviving are six sons, Hubert G. Custer, Deer Park, Melvin R. Custer, Swanton, Dale H. Custer, Oakland, Leo P. Custer, Swanton, Roger W. Custer, Keyser, and Clarence I. Custer, Oakland; four daughters, Evelyn Steyer, Oakland, Phyllis Knepp, Red House, Mary Bishop, North Huntingdon, Pa., and Shirley Bernard, Oakland; 32 grandchildren; and 50 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Mountain Top Christian Assembly on Sunday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Gail Hixon and the Rev. Franklin Bishop officiating.
Interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Southern Rescue Squad or the Mountain Top Christian Assembly.
