JOSEPH PATRICK "PAT" BOWEN
CORRIGANVILLE - Joseph Patrick "Pat" Bowen, 66, of Corriganville, died Friday, Nov. 14, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born June 27, 1931, in Clarksburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late Lewis and Edna (Rollins) Bowen. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Nina Lee (Shank) Bowen; one son, Michael Joseph Bowen; two brothers, John and William Bowen; and one sister, Ruth Ann Ayers.
Mr. Bowen was a diesel mechanic for Beckwith Machinery, Somerset, Pa., for over 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and getting together with his many friends in the great outdoors.
Surviving are one stepson, Michael L. Shank; two granddaughters, Kristin K. Shank and Cassie M. Shank; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cresaptown, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the First Wesleyan Church, Cresaptown, Monday at 10 a.m. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Indian Mound cemetery, Romney, W.Va.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the ICU or CIRU at Memorial Hospital and Medical Center, 600 Memorial Avenue, Cumberland, MD 21502.
ALFRED J. BOUTEILLER, JR.
WESTERNPORT - Alfred Joseph Bouteiller Jr., 57, of the Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing, formerly of 247 Main St., Westernport, died Sunday, June 29, 1997, at the nursing home.
Born Feb. 4, 1940, in Derby, Conn., he was the son of the late Alfred Bouteiller Sr. and the late Catherine Ann (Gondola) Bouteiller.
Mr. Bouteiller was a retired EMC with the United States Navy with 20 years of service as an electrical engineer, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Surviving are one son, A.J. Bouteiller III, Norfolk, Va.; two daughters, Debra Ann Boude, Michigan, and Catherine Lee Kyle and husband Ernest, Barton; two sisters, Ieala Wojczack, Connecticut, and Sandra Moran, Florida; and four grandchildren, Robin Bouteiller, Rebecca Bouteiller, Cody Kyle and Sarah Kyle.
At Mr. Bouteiller's request he was cremated. His ashes will be taken to the Norfolk Naval Base for burial at sea.
The Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, is in charge of arrangements.
GRACE GOSNELL
LONACONING - Lt. Col. Grace (Dick) Gosnell, 89, of 3 Advocate Court, Lonaconing, died Saturday, May 3, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born July 9, 1908, in Lonaconing, she was a daughter of the late Thomas B. Dick and the late Mary S. (Stewart) Dick. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred C. Gosnell, in 1967.
Mrs. Gosnell was a 1926 graduate of Central High School, and a 1929 graduate of the University of Maryland and a member of its Alumni Association. She was the Chief Nurse for the 42nd General Hospital, and served in the South Pacific during World War II. She also served in Australia for three years, and the Philippines and Japan for three months each. She was awarded the Bronze Star for Meritorious Service.
She was Medical Supervisor of the Fort Howard VA Hospital in Baltimore for five years; Medical Supervisor of the University of Maryland Hospital for nine years; and Assistant Director of Nurses for the Charleston General Hospital, Charleston, W.Va., for nine years.
She was inducted into the Lonaconing Hall of Fame in 1984; won first place as a County United Way chairwoman in 1985; and was Outstanding Hospital Volunteer, 1988-1990.
She attended the First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing. She was a life member of the Alvin C. Neat VFW Post 5280, Lonaconing, and a member of its Ladies Auxiliary, having served as auxiliary president for two years. She was a member of the Lonaconing Senior Citizens.
Surviving are one son, Douglas E. Gosnell, Boulder, Colo.; one daughter, Roxanne G. Linberg, Princeton, Texas; one brother, Thomas F. Dick, Moundsville, W.Va.; six grandchildren; and numerous cousins.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Lonaconing, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Vernon Gauthier officiating.
Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, near Cumberland, where full military honors will be accorded at graveside by Farrady Post 24, American Legion, Frostburg.

CLIFFORD R. BOSLEY SR.
BASYE, Va. - Clifford Raymon Bosley Sr., 56, of 92 Connie Road, Basye, died on Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997, at the Shenandoah Memorial Hospital, Woodstock.
Born July 2, 1941, in Richmond, he was the son of the late Frederick and Grace Eustace Bosley. He also was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Paul Bosley Jr.
Mr. Bosley served in the U.S. Army for 20 years from 1961 to 1981. He was employed with Orion Network, Mount Jackson. Mr. Bosley was Protestant by faith.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra L. Bosley; three daughters, Kim O'Kane, Hagerstown, Md., Cheri L. Miller, Frederick, Md., and Melissa Bosley, Basye; two sons, Clifford R. Bosley Jr. and Michael Bosley, both of Hagerstown; four sisters, Billy Jo Phillippi, Spotsylvania, Mary Moore, Virginia Beach, Elaine Palos, Chesapeake, and Candace Guadalupe, Virginia Beach; three brothers, Darryl Black and Albert Hardison, both of Moyock, N.C., and Jeffery Black, Saxe; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Gerald D. Carbaugh officiating.
Interment will be in Ebenezer cemetery, Romney, W.Va., with the Rev. Don Kesner officiating.
Military honors will be accorded at the graveside.
SAMUEL W. BORDER
LAVALE - Samuel William Border, 85, of Vocke Road, died Saturday, July 26, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Feb. 28, 1912, in Everett, Pa., he was the son of the late Edward and Vi (Greenawalt) Border. He also was preceded in death by one son, Gary W. Border; three brothers, James, Ira and Harvey Border; two sisters, Kathryn Byers and Pearl Crawford.
Mr. Border attended the LaVale Chapel Assembly of God. He was employed at the Celanese Corp for 18 years and retired from T.G. and S. Coal Company.
Surviving are his wife Maria (Knisley) Border; two sons, William K. Border and wife Dorothy, Martinsburg, W.Va., and Robert L. Border and wife Freda, Mount Airy, Md.; three brothers, David Border, Live Oaks, Calif., Henry Border, Homewood Addition, and John Border, LaVale; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Pastor Stephen M. Schuessler officiating.
Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be John Ezzell, John Bullock, Roy Barnes, Kenneth Border, Josh Grimes and Tim Duter.
THOMAS L. BOONE
LAVALE - Thomas L. Boone, 85, of North Woodlawn Avenue, LaVale, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Oct. 11, 1997 at the Frostburg Village Nursing Care Center.
Born July 21, 1912, in Mars Hill, N.C., he was the son of the late John and Julie (Rice) Boone. He was preceded in death by one brother, Cecil Boone.
Mr. Boone was retired from the Kelly Springfield Tire Company shipping department in 1974 and a member of the Local 26 Union, Cumberland.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn C. Boone; four step-children, Zelda Stanton, Retha Wilt, both of Grantsville, Marlene Shipley, Frostburg, Allen Beeman, Gloucester, Va.; seven grandchildren, Michelle Brobst, Julia Stanton, Michael Shipley, Rhonda Shipley, Miranda Shipley, Ronald Wilt, Jr., and Trisha Wilt; three brothers, Woodrow Boone, Charles Boone, J.C. Boone, all of Mars Hill.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. George R. Lohr officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
