RUSSELL BROADWATER
FROSTBURG - Russell J. Broadwater, 68, of 51 Victoria Lane, Frostburg, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born July 28, 1929, in Avilton, he was the son of the late James A. and Martha C. (Platter) Broadwater.

Mr. Broadwater was retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years of service, having served in World War II, Korea and Viet Nam. He also retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and worked for the Maryland Department of Agriculture.

Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Leona (Neilson) Broadwater; three brothers, Marshal Broadwater, Avilton, Charles Broadwater, Reedsville, W.Va., and Roy Broadwater, Avilton; three sisters, Eva Lewis, Frostburg, Laura Broadwater, and Arvella Wilson, both of Cresaptown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jimmie Blair officiating.

Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Ralston, Donald Peck, Enoch E. Price Jr., Donald Blank, Tom Hutter and Elmer Durr.

WILLARD F. BROADWATER
GRANTSVILLE - Willard Franklin "Gypsy" Broadwater, 50, of 159 Chestnut Ridge Road, Grantsville, died suddenly, Monday, June 2, 1997, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Aug. 20, 1946, in New Germany, he was a son of the late Ira and Mary (Otto) Broadwater. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Fred Broadwater, and a sister-in-law, Joyce Broadwater.

Willard owned and operated Broadwater Heavy Towing and Road Maintenance, and Broadwater Trucking. He was a member of Casselman Valley Sportsmens Club, where he cooked shrimp for their annual dinner for 25 years. He operated the pulling sled for the Garrett County Fair and Grantsville Days. He collected antique cars, and spent time with his son working on them.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Alice (Jenkins) Broadwater; loving son, Franklin Ray Broadwater, Grantsville; two brothers, Odell Broadwater and wife Donna, and Tom Broadwater and wife Gloria, all of Grantsville; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Ercell Jenkins; three sisters-in-law, Edith Jenkins and friend Jay Miller, Sue McKenzie and husband Jim, all of Grantsville, and Freda Broadwater, Baltimore; nephews Bryce, Richard, Danny, Gary and Kevin, all of Grantsville, and David and Donald, Baltimore; one niece, Linda Butta; and a great-nephew, Jonathan Butta, Baltimore.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted on Friday at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ, New Germany, with the Rev. Raymond Brown officiating.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be nephews, David, Gary, Kevin, Bryce, Richard and Danny Broadwater.

Expressions of sympathy may be directed to either Trinity United Church of Christ or Northern Garrett County Rescue Squad.

LOUIS E. DANIELS, JR.
MIDLOTHIAN, Va. - Louis Earl Daniels, Jr., 57, of Midlothian, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 1997, in Johnston-Willis Hospital, Richmond.
Born June 15, 1940, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of Virginia Alice (Hott) Daniels, Cumberland, and the late Louis E. Daniels, Sr.

Mr. Daniels was employed by CSX Railroad as a District Project Engineer. He was a U.S. Marine veteran, and was a member and past commander of the VFW Post No. 6452, Ridgeley, W.Va.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Pat (Simmons) Daniels; three sons, Douglas, Michael and David, all of Akron, Ohio; one daughter, Catherine, Richmond, Va.; a sister, Rita Leatherman, Annapolis; a brother, John B. Daniels, Cumberland; and eight grandchldren.

Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Wednesday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Timothy Monn.

Interment will be in Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap where military honors will be accorded by combined local veterans organizations.

A VFW memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home by Ridgeley VFW Post No. 6452 on Tuesday at 8 p.m.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Colbert, Doug Colbert, Mike Colbert, Josh Leatherman, Dan Leatherman, and Brett Simmons.

WILLOUGHBY M. CALLIS
OAKLAND - Willoughby M. Callis, 78, of Smouse Road, Oakland, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 1997, at the Cuppett-Weeks Nursing Home in Oakland.
He was the son of the late Asa A. and Mary L. (Lloyd) Callis. He also was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn J. Callis.

Mr. Callis was a maintenance foreman for the Garrett County Board of Education. He also was a veteran of World War II, and was a member of American Legion Post 52.

He is survived by four sons, Richard T., Chesapeake, Va., Michael L., Lomita, Calif., William Andrew, McHenry, and John L., Oakland; two daughters, Madelyn M. Cummins, and Virginia P. Tasker, both of Front Royal, Va.; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the Bethel United Methodist Church, Mountain Lake Park, on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mark Hickman officiating. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Oakland cemetery. Military honors be accorded at the cemetery.

S. MARGARET FEATHER
OAKLAND - S. Margaret Feather, 84, of 16 E. Florida Way, Lonaconing, formerly of Oakland, died on Monday at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Dec. 10, 1912, in Elkins, W.Va., and was a daughter of the late Charles L. Jeffers and Carrie (Isner) Jeffers. She also was preceded in death by her husband Merritt H. Feather in 1995.

Mrs. Feather was a graduate of Davis and Elkins College, and taught in the Garrett County School System for 19 years. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was the church organist for many years.

Surviving are one son, Charles A. Feather, Lonaconing; one sister, Ruth Fields, Elkins, W.Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home in Oakland on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Donald Webb and the Rev. Roger Harrison officiating.

Interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens.

The family suggests memorials take the form of contributions to the Burlington Children's Home.

JOSEPHINE BRODE
ECKHART - Josephine Brode, 90, of 10216 Parkersburg Road NW, Eckhart, died Saturday, June 14, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born April 14, 1907 in Towanda, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Helen (Young) Laurie. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Brode Sr.; and five children, Mildred, Betty, Helen, William, and Raymond Jr.

Mrs. Brode was a retired seamstress for the Michael Berkowitz Shirt Factory.

Surviving are one son, Robert L. Brode and wife Mary; one daughter, Norma Baer and husband Harold (Grizz), all of Eckhart; two sisters, Elizabeth Festerman, Frostburg, and Margaret Villa, Eckhart; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 17, 1997, at 11 a.m. officiated by R. William Brode, grandson, and Bishop Steve Whited.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Robert S. Brode, R. William Brode, Jack E. Brode, Wayne Brode, Raymond Brode III, and Dean Wiland.
