RICHARD HOMER GLASS
CUMBERLAND - Richard Homer Glass, 72, of Cash Valley Road, died Friday, June 20, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born July 5, 1924, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Byard Oscar and Ruth Estella (Robison) Glass.

Mr. Glass was retired from Kelly-Springfield Tire and Rubber Company. He was a member of Park Place United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Jean F. (Cain) Glass; two daughters, Jeane R. Kennell and husband Roger, Frostburg, and Carolyn Ann Wagner and husband Marvin, Freemont, Calif.; a brother, Walter C. (Pete) Glass and wife Sheila, LaVale; two sisters, Betty Mathias and husband Leonard, Ridgeley, W.Va., and Laurann Peterson and husband Guy, LaVale; five grandchildren, Christian Wagner, serving in the U.S. Navy at Pearl Harbor, Nicholas Wagner and Marvin Wagner Jr., Freemont, Calif., Jennifer Helmstetter, Mount Savage, and Ryan Kennell, Frostburg; a great-granddaughter, Sarah Helmstetter, Mount Savage; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Adam E. Grim officiating.

Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

ROSE T. CAMPBELL
FROSTBURG - Rose T. Campbell, 88, of Frostburg, died Wednesday, May 21, 1997, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home where she has been a patient since 1985.
Born May 14, 1909, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Lena (Spalla) Bollino. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Denver H. Campbell; one son, Vincent Campbell; two sisters, Della Astarita and Carmen B. Maurey; and three brothers, Anthony Bollino Sr., Samuel Bollino and Vincent Bollino.

Surviving are five grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews, including niece Helen Maurey, Frostburg.

Mrs. Campbell was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church.

Friends were received at Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael's Catholic Church at 11 a.m. with Father William Moody serving as celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Michael's Catholic cemetery.

THE REV. MARTIN DAVIDSON
FROSTBURG - A requiem Mass in memory of the Rev. Martin Davidson, O.G.S., who died on June 30, 1997, in Baltimore, was celebrated recently at St. John's Episcopal Church, Frostburg.
Henry Martin Perkins Davidson was born March 3, 1901, in Cambridge. He was the son of William Henry Davidson Jr. and Matty Perkins Davidson.

He graduated from the Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Va., in 1920 and received his bachelor's degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1923. During his college years, he played the organ in several parishes in Baltimore, and was also an organist while a student at Virginia Theological Seminary from 1923 until his graduation in 1926. He was ordained deacon on Nov. 30, 1925, and priest on June 11, 1926.

The next 25 years were spent in two different church boarding schools in New England. He was a member of the clergy staff of St. Paul's School, Concord, N.H., from 1926 to 1935. After a year in Cambridge, Mass., and Oxford, England, he became chaplain of St. George's School, Newport, R.I., in 1936 and remained there until 1951.

In July, 1951, Father Davidson became assistant to the rector of Trinity Church, Princeton, N.J., where he remained until 1957. He then accepted the call to be rector of St. John's Episcopal Church, Frostburg, thus returning to the diocese in which he had been ordained both deacon and priest. After 10 years in Frostburg, he retired to Baltimore. In 1972, he was asked to become chaplain to the All Saints Sisters in Catonsville, where he served until 1979, when he again retired.

A requiem Mass was also celebrated for Father Davidson at Mount Calvary Church, Baltimore, where he had been a member for several years.

His body was cremated and his ashes are to be buried in Cambridge near the graves of his parents.

LESLIE I. BRINKMAN
CUMBERLAND - Leslie Irvin Brinkman, 71, of Country Club Road, Cumberland, went to be with the Lord, Monday, July 7, 1997, at Memorial Hospital Intensive Care Unit.
Born March 5, 1926, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Leslie Helmer and Eva Pauline (Earsom) Brinkman.

Mr. Brinkman graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1944. He was in the Air Force Cadets and Reserves. He was employed at the Streett's Body Shop for 23 years. He was a former employee of the Celanese Corp. He was a Clerical Supervisor at Memorial Hospital and then he became the Director of Safety and Security at the hospital. He also was the owner and operator of Brinkman Home Improvement. He graduated from Allegany College Magna Cum Laude. He was a member of the church council, and Men of St. Luke's past president and treasurer. He was a member of Masonic Fort Cumberland Lodge 211 A.F. and A.M. He was past Venerable Master of the Scottish Rite, 32nd Degree Masons and Knight Commander Court of Honor of the Scottish Rite. He was a member of the retirement club of the Scottish Rite and he was on the picnic and oyster committees. He also did 7th, 9th and 10th degree work. He was a past member of the Allegany County Planning and Zoning Commission.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Shirley (Nichols) Brinkman; one daughter, Leslie Ann Thomas and husband Lowell, Cumberland; two sons, Timothy A. Brinkman, Keyser, W.Va.; Brian Brinkman and friend Tina Skidmore and children, Brandon and Rachelle, Cumberland; three grandchildren, Michael Joseph Thomas, Jentiel Thomas and Justin Thomas; two sisters, Doris V. Burley and husband Paul, DeLand, Fla., and their daughters, Susan McGregor and husband George and Linda Gilpin and husband Jeff; and Patricia Twigg, Cumberland, and her son Gregory Twigg and wife Kim; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial service will be conducted on Thursday at 7 p.m. by the Fort Cumberland Lodge 211 A.F. and A.M.

Services will be conducted at St. Luke's Lutheran Church on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Pastor Lee A. McDaniel officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church.

Interment will be in the Hillcrest Memorial Park. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

The family requests contributions be made to the St. Luke's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the Ali Ghan Shrine Burn Center.

Pallbearers will be George Smith, Michael Thomas, Justin Thomas, Gregory Twigg, Stanley Zollner, Howard Brode, Jack Clauson, Irvin Johnson and Eugene Streett.

EDWARD L. DAVALLI
COCKEYSVILLE - Edward L. Davalli, of Cockeysville, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997.
He was the beloved husband of Juanita E. (Johnson) Davalli, who survives. Also surviving are his son Steven E. and wife, Teresa, Catonsville, and daughter Andrea M. Davalli, Cockeysville. He was the dear brother of Frances Lee, Anoka, Minn., Jean Martuza, Newark, Del., Margaret Gaughan, Cumberland, Paul Davalli, Baltimore, and Linda Evans, Ellicott City. He also is survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and god-children.

The family received friends in Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley Inc., 10 West Padonia Road (at York Road) Timonium-Cockeysville, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., with a vigil at 3:30 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph's Church, Texas, on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m.

Interment will be in Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be directed in Mr. Davalli's name to St. Vincent's Center, 2600 Pot Spring Road, Timonium, MD 21093; Attn: Kelly Cones.

H. MARIE GLOTFELTY
GRANTSVILLE - H. Marie Glotfelty, 80, of 316 Braddock St., Frostburg, and formerly of Grantsville, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born June 24, 1917, in Bittinger, she was a daughter of the late George and Sarah (Speicher) Stark. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Ellen Glotfelty in 1953.

Mrs. Glotfelty was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Grantsville, and was retired as a waitress for The Casselman Restaurant, Grantsville. She was a member of Woodmen of the World, Camp 41.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Homer J. Glotfelty, whom she married June 28, 1941; a son, Larry Glotfelty, Frostburg; and a brother, Richard Stark, Grove City, Ohio.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Private funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Sunday with the Rev. David E. Fetter officiating. Graveside services will be conducted on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Grantsville cemetery with the Rev. Ivan J. Maust officiating. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Union Rescue Mission, 16 Queen City Pavement, Cumberland, MD 21502.

GWENDOLYN S. HOPKINS
HAGERSTOWN - Gwendolyn Skelly Hopkins, 73, of Crestwood Drive, Hagerstown, died Sunday, April 27, 1997, at her residence.
Born Aug. 12, 1923, in Rawlings, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Robinson) Skelly. She also was preceded in death by one brother, William Skelly; and three sisters, Hyacinth Skelly, Mary Carr, and Genevieve Evans.

Mrs. Hopkins was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, Hagerstown, and American Legion Auxiliary, Washington D.C. She was a graduate of Cathermans Business School, Cumberland. She worked for Hazelwood Construction Co., Cumberland, and later for the Department of Agriculture, Washington, D.C.

Surviving are her husband, Jesse Hopkins, Hagerstown; one stepson, George Hopkins, Denver, Colo.; four stepdaughters, Anna Marie Hopkins, Gaithersburg, Kathleen Selivonick, Fountain Hill, Ariz., Sarah Rachel, McClean, Va., and Mary Lantz, Huntingtown; one brother, Harry T. Skelly and wife Mary, LaVale and Florida; five sisters, Eva Klipstein and husband Robert, Bowling Green, Freda Skelly, Glen Oaks, Helen Maiers, Ridgeley, W.Va. and Calif., Delores Webb, LaVale, Marlene Woolard and husband John, Rawlings; and a number of nieces and nephews.

At her request, her body was donated to the State Anatomical Board.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

The Hafer Funeral Home, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, is in charge of the arrangements.

JEANETTE E. CALZONE
CUMBERLAND - Jeanette E. (Nelson) Calzone, 96, of Allegany Nursing Home, formerly of Central Avenue, died Saturday, June 21, 1997, at the nursing home.
Born Sept. 4, 1900, in Augusta, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Robert and Etta (Haines) Nelson. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Calzone, in 1994.

Mrs. Calzone was a homemaker and was a member of St. Paul's Luthern Church, Cumberland.

Surviving are two daughters, Madeline M. Kelly, Booth Towers, Cumberland, and Norma L. Imler and husband Ronald, Mexico Farms, Cumberland; two sons, Nelson R. Hamilton and wife Donna, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Roland W. Hamilton, Pompano Beach, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Monday from 3 to 5 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 5 p.m. with the Rev. John J. Duffus officiating.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
