GEORGE D. HARRIS
WESTMINSTER - George David Harris, 53, of Westminster, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 1997, at the Carroll County General Hospital.
Born April 10, 1943, in Cumberland, he was the son of George M. and Mary (Epperly) Harris of Wiley Ford, W.Va. He was the husband of Carolyn Harris.
Mr. Harris was currently employed at Ron's Automotive in Manchester. He had worked in the banking industry for 23 years, 18 of which were with Equity Trust, and five years with City Corp. He was an Army Reservist for 20 years, with the 265 Heavy Motor Supply in Cumberland; a former member of the Lions Club; and a past member of the Hampstead American Legion. He was a 1961 graduate of Ridgeley High School.
Surviving in addition to his parents and wife are children Patrick David Harris of Baltimore, Joe Marc Harris of Westminster, Gina Marie Harris of Silver Spring; and a brother, Paul A. Harris of Westminster.
The family will receive friends at the Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Services will be held at the Manchester Baptist Church, 2933 Manchester Baptist Church Road, Manchester, on Monday, Feb. 24, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Earl Gray officiating.
Interment will be in the Manchester Baptist Church cemetery.

MARY E. GOLDSWORTHY
LAVALE - Mary Eleanor (Bright) Goldsworthy, 87, formerly of 98 LaVale Boulevard, then of Heartland of Keyser, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born in Keyser, W.Va., on June 16, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Simeon M. and Agnes V.(Bane) Bright. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Paul L. Goldsworthy.
Mrs. Goldsworthy was a graduate of Keyser High School and Shepherdstown College. She was retired from a life-long career of teaching English and Social Studies at the Wiley Ford School in Mineral County, W.Va. She was a member of Centre Street United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Marie B. (Goldsworthy) Robertson, and son-in-law, David E. Robertson, Atlanta, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Lorna Bright, Keyser; and numerous nieces and nephews.
At her request, her body has been donated to the University of West Virginia Medical School in Morgantown, and there will be no memorial services.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Hwy., LaVale.
LILLIAN M. BOYLAND
CUMBERLAND - Lillian M. Boyland, 86, of Ridgeley, W.Va., died Thursday, March 20, 1997, at the Cumberland Nursing Home.
Born Oct. 30, 1910, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late John L. Everett and the late Sallie M. (Weber) Everett. She also was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Boyland Sr., on May 4, 1980.
Mrs. Boyland was a retired secretary for the United Textile Workers. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Surviving are two sons, James W. Boyland Jr., Cumberland, and John K. Boyland, Burbank, Calif.; two daughters, Joycelyn M. Sherman, Aurora, Ill., and Jeanne K. Amick and husband Chet, Cumberland; one sister, Mazelia Everett, Frostburg; seven grandchildren, Sharon Amick, Shelly Witt, Tina Young, April and Allison Sherman, Sean and Dawn Boyland; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Monday at 10 a.m. with Father Vance Pastorius as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery.
A Christian Wake Service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 8:45 p.m.
ALBERTA J. GRIM
CUMBERLAND - Alberta Juanita Grim, 75, of Cumberland, died Friday, March 14, 1997, at the home of her adopted daughter.
Born Feb. 9, 1922, in Crellin, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Pearl Cannon. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Grim; one sister, Bernice Seabolt; and two brothers, Denzel Cannon and Harold Cannon.
Mrs. Grim had worked for 18 years as a waitress at Curtis.' Prior to that she had been employed at Flores Barn, Cabin Lodge, and the Pea Cannery in Mountain Lake Park, the YMCA and the 5 & 10 in Oakland, and the Crellin Grocery.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her adopted daughter, Peggy Shaffer and husband Walter, Cumberland; two stepdaughters, Ronna Stierstorfer and husband Bernard, Forest Hill, and Dorothy Moreland and husband Charles, Chambersburg, Pa.; one stepson, David Grim and wife Shari, Street; one sister, Naomi Holler, Oakland; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and best friend Laraine Bennett.
Visitation will be at the George-Upchurch Funeral Home, 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The service will be held at Christ United Methodist Church on Monday, March 17, 1997, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Stanley Caldwell and the Rev. Wayne Turner officiating. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service time.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

CARROLL G. DEWITT
ACCIDENT - Carroll Glenn DeWitt, 75, of 1079 Accident-Bittinger Rd., Accident, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 23, 1997, at Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born Aug. 8, 1922, in Hoyes, he was a son of the late J. Milton and Cora Pearl (Coddington) DeWitt. He also was preceded in death by a brother, John Milton DeWitt, July, 1992.
Mr. DeWitt was retired in 1986 from the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local No. 37, with 30 years of service as a heavy equipment operator. Since 1968, he has been a certified tree farmer and in 1990 he was recognized as Garrett County Tree Farmer of the Year. He also was a school bus contractor and driver for 48 years with the Garrett County Board of Education. Carroll was an avid hunter with his son and grandsons and also enjoyed traveling in the United States and Europe with his wife.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, the former Huldah Barbara Harman, whom he married
on his birthday, August 8, 1942; a son, Chester Freeman DeWitt and his wife Virginia Layman DeWitt, Hillsboro, Va.; a daughter, Pauline Louise Bittinger, Barton; two grandsons, Randall Paul Bittinger, Barton, and Wyatt Carroll Bittinger and his wife Kandyce Willard Bittinger, Fairmont, W.Va.; a brother Adrian Lorenzo DeWitt and his wife Nancy Skiles DeWitt, Derwood; a sister, Mary Annabelle Sanner and her husband, Clyde Calvin Sanner Jr., Friendsville; and a sister-in-law, Leona June DeWitt, Sarasota, Fla.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Hoyes United Methodist Church on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Samuel Wachter, Pastor Ross Glotfelty and Pastor Donald Webb officiating.
Interment will be in the church cemetery.

ZEDA M. GOFF
CUMBERLAND - Zeda Margaret Goff, of Bel Air, Cumberland, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born in Tunnelton, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Emma Watkins. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Damon E. Goff, on Aug. 10, 1976.
Mrs. Goff was a homemaker and a member of Cresaptown United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Ann McIntosh, Bowie, and Janet Sue Goff, Alexandria, Va.; one sister, Mrs. Winifred Pugh, Fairmont, W.Va.; one granddaughter, Mrs. Robin LeMasters, Bowie; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Harold R. McClay, Jr., officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
GEORGE H. GLOTFELTY
ACCIDENT - George Hubert Glotfelty, 81, of 378 Glotfelty Lane, Accident, died Tuesday, March 25, 1997, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born June 2, 1915, at New Germany, he was a son of the late Howard and Lula (Broadwater) Glotfelty. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Glass, and a brother-in-law, David Boldt.
Mr. Glotfelty was a member of McHenry United Methodist Church, and was a trustee and member of the United Methodist Brotherhood. He attended Accident High School. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served as a technician fourth grade in Co. A, 1344th Engineers Combat Battalion. He was a member of Accident American Legion Post 208 and was a farmer. Hubert was a husband, father, grandfather and friend to everyone he knew.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Harolene E. (McLean) Glotfelty, who he married
June 19, 1948; two sons, Larry Hubert Glotfelty and wife Mary, and Harry Blaine Glotfelty and wife Jan, all of Oakland; two daughters, Vera (Glotfelty) Sweitzer, and R. Arlene (Glotfelty) Beitzel and husband John, all of Accident; a brother, F. Blaine Glotfelty, Accident; two sisters, Grace Boldt, Akron, Ohio, and Mary Cessna and husband Clarence "Sam", Bedford, Pa.; a brother-in-law, Clarence Glass, Oakland; 12 grandchildren; a niece, Lynda Williams; and a nephew, Jeffrey Boldt.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, McHenry, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at McHenry United Methodist Church on Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Samuel Wachter officiating.
Interment will be in Bumble Bee Ridge cemetery.
Military graveside rites will be accorded by area veteran's service organizations.
