D. CLIFFORD GOODFELLOW
LAVALE - D. Clifford Goodfellow, 85, of LaVale, died Tuesday, June 3, 1997, at Lions Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland.
Born April 30, 1912, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late J. Russell Goodfellow and the late F. Helene (Miller) Goodfellow. He also was preceded in death by one brother, David C. Goodfellow.
Mr. Goodfellow was a realtor since 1937, when he entered his grandfather's firm, the D.P. Miller Co. In 1945, he founded the Goodfellow Real Estate and Insurance Agency. He was active in developing portions of LaVale and operated the original LaVale water system. Mr. Goodfellow served as president of the Cumberland Board of Realtors for five terms, and was instrumental in implementing the Multiple-listing Service. He was inducted into the Omega Tau Rho, an honorary fraternity of the National Association of Realtors, and was recognized in 1992 with the Realtor Emeritus Status for more than fifty years of continuous membership. He served with the Maryland National Guard during World War II, and was a member of the Springfield, W.Va. Methodist Church; the Ruritan Club; and an honorary member of the Cumberland Loyal Order of Moose.
Surviving are his wife, Claudia E. Goodfellow, LaVale; son, Michael Goodfellow, Deep Creek Lake; daughter, Beverlee J. Scott, Rock Hill, S.C.; sister, Florence G. Lux, LaVale; brother, J. Russell Goodfellow, Springfield, W.Va.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the George-Upchurch Funeral Home, 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at noon with the Rev. Deborah L. Shreve officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
Contributions may be directed to the LaVale Rescue Squad, or Springfield United Methodist Church.
Pallbearers will be Allan Stevenson, Lynn Workmeister, Dennis Perrin, Robert Keech, William Davis, and Clyde Johns. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Holzshu, Frank Bennett, and Richard Hott.
MARY CATHERINE HUTCHINSON
CUMBERLAND - Mary Catherine (Cline) Hutchinson, 83, of Frostburg Village Nursing Home, formerly of the Cumberland Arms Apartments, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Jan. 10, 1914, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Clealand W. Cline, Sr., and Nellie E. (Northcraft) Cline.
She also was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Hutchinson; one brother, Clealand W. Cline, Jr.; and one sister, Pauline Cline.
Mrs. Hutchinson was a member of the first nursing class at Rosewood State Hospital. She worked there for 20 years as a licensed practical nurse. Mrs. Hutchinson returned to Cumberland, where she did private duty nursing.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Survivors include four brothers, Kenneth G. Cline and wife, Betty, Pittsburgh, Pa., Claude C. "Jimmy" Cline, Upperco, Charles S. Cline, Hagerstown, and William A "Max" Cline, Smith Island; five sisters, Evelyn P. Reuschel, Cumberland, Lena M. Decker, Baltimore; Maryland V. Cross, Cumberland, June M. Couter and husband, Paul, Cumberland, and Patricia L. Glover and husband, Dale, Evart, Mich.; and numerous nieces, nephews; great-nieces, great-nephews; great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews.
Friends will be received at the George-Upchurch Funeral Home, 202 Greene Street, Cumberland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, Nov. 15, 1997, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home, with the Rev. James L. McMahan officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Moss, Robert Moss, Joe Cline, Mitchell Cline, Matt Cline, Richard Cross, Charles "Butch" Cross, and Allen Cross.

WALTER W. HILLEGASS
CUMBERLAND - Walter W. Hillegass, 92, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 2, 1905, Buena Vista, Pa., he was the son of the late Harry and Minerva (Diehl) Hillegass. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Elizabeth Hillegass in 1992.
Mr. Hillegass was retired from the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company after 47 years of service. He was a member of St. Mark's United Church of Christ and the South Cumberland Businessmen's Association.
Surviving are one son, Walter L. Hillegass and wife, Jean; and one grandson, James S. Hillegass, all of Sinking Spring, Pa.; and a special sister-in-law, Maxine Cunningham, Annapolis.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Harold T. Shaffer officiating. Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
Pallbearers will be Ray Barb, Lee Farnsworth, Butch Thomas, George Hansrote, Kenneth Koser, and Phil Wilhelm.

ELIZABETH T. AMANN
WESTERNPORT - Elizabeth T. Amann, 83, of 421 Hammond St., formerly of 274 Main St., Westernport, died Monday, July 21, 1997, at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, W.Va.
Born Jan. 24, 1914, in Westernport, she was the daughter of the late Louis H. and Delphia (Dayton) Biddle. She also was preceded in death by her husband Paul F. Amann, in 1985; one brother, Louis Biddle; and two sisters, Louise Miller and Leota Biddle.
Mrs. Amann was a homemaker and a member of the St. Peter's Catholic Church, Westernport, Westernport Senior Citizens and the Kelly Mansfield Post 52 Ladies Auxiliary, Piedmont, W.Va.
Surviving are one son, Paul R. Amann and wife Debra, Keyser, W.Va.; three daughters, Elizabeth A. Kertesz and husband Robert, Westernport, Rita McCrobie and husband Charles, Swanton, and Faye Harris, Westernport; three sisters, Gladys Taylor, Westernport, Leona Worgan, Moran Manor Nursing Home, and Marguerite Armentrout, Westernport; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Bowers, Michael Warnick II, Allison Amann and Paula Amann; and two great-grandchildren, Kayla Bowers and Jared Eyler.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Peter's Catholic Church on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Father James Hannon as celebrant.
Interment will be in the St. Peter's cemetery, Westernport.
FRANCIS R. HIMMELWRIGHT
CUMBERLAND - Francis R. Himmelwright, 70, of Williams Road, Cumberland, went to be with the Lord Friday, June 6, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 11, 1927, in Cumberland. He was the son of the late Francis Himmelwright and Lula May (Jackson) Himmelwright.
Mr. Himmelwright was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II. He retired as an educational supervisor for CSX Railroad, Cumberland. He was a member of the Wiley Ford Church of the Brethren and of the church choir, Fort Cumberland Lodge 211 A.F. & A.M., Ali Ghan Shrine Temple and Scottish Rite Bodies, member of Ali Ghan Legion of Honor, Ali Ghan Railroad Unit and Camper's Club, and a member Cumberland VFW and Cumberland American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Lee Himmelwright; a sister, Margaret Louise Himmelwright, Cumberland; a nephew, Eric S. Seaber, Cleveland; a niece, Vera Carolyn Govan, Cleveland; and also surviving are several stepsons, stepdaughters and five great-nephews.
Friends will be recieved at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Fort Cumberland Lodge No. 211 A.F. & A.M. will hold a memorial service on Sunday at 7:30.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Benny R. Brakeall officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.
The family has requested contributions to the Shriner's Crippled Children's League.
PAUL EDWARD GRANT
FREDERICK - Paul Edward Grant, 50, of Frederick, formerly of Rawlings, died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, at his residence in Frederick.
He was born July 5, 1947, in Cumberland, the son of the late Marshall and Bessie Viola (Taylor) Grant.
He also was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Mr. Grant was a 1965 graduate of Allegany High School and attended Frostburg State University. He was a Methodist by faith.
He is survived by his step-mother, Mary M. (Iser) Grant, Rawlings; six sisters; 15 brothers; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Hwy., LaVale, on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Services will follow in the funeral home chapel at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Lowell Garland officiating.
Interment will be in the Biertown cemetery, Rawlings.
