PHYLLIS A. WHITEMAN
LONACONING - Phyllis Angeline Whiteman, 67, a resident of the Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing, formerly of 15319 Old Beechwood Road, SW, Lonaconing, died Monday, Feb. 23, 1998, at the nursing home.
Born Nov. 9, 1930, in Pekin, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence E. and Katherine (Nolan) McKenzie. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer Connell Whiteman, on Jan. 22, 1998.
Mrs. Whiteman was a graduate of Tri-Sate Beauty College, and was a retired beautician having worked at the Coney Capri for 20 years. She was a member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, Barton.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1998, from 7 to 9 p.m., and Thursday, Feb. 26, 1998, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Feb. 27, 1998, at 9:30 a.m. with Father James Hannon officiating.
Interment will be in the Green cemetery, Lonaconing.

WILLIAM "BILLY" WHITEMAN
CUMBERLAND - William "Billy" Whiteman, 74, of Cumberland, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 16, 1923, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late William and Anna (Myers) Whiteman. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jean Sensbaugh.
Mr. Whiteman was a retired employee of the Potomac Metal and Supply Co. He was a member of the Emmanuel-Bethel United Methodist Church, a member of the Goodfellowship Club, and a former member of the Cumberland Moose.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Doris May (Shambaugh) Whiteman; one daughter, Linda D. Davis and husband Chester, Cumberland; one son, William O. "Rusty" Whiteman and wife Charlene, Wiley Ford, W.Va.; two brothers, Roy "Bucky" Whiteman and wife Camilla, Ridgeley, W.Va., and Larry "Randy" Whiteman and wife Laura, Short Gap; two sisters, Shirley Long and husband Jimmy, Florida, and Jackie Lapp and husband Joe, Martinsburg, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Tony Whiteman and wife Jill, Greg Whiteman, Mike Whiteman, Chip Davis and Nicholas Davis; and one great-granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Whiteman.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Mildred C. Martin and Major Harvey Adams officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
The family requests that contributions be directed to the Emmanuel-Bethel United Methodist Church or the Salvation Army Youth League.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Tony Whiteman, Greg Whiteman, Mike Whiteman, Chip Davis, Nicholas Davis and nephew Chris Whiteman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis, Frank, Ray, Stevie, Richard and Ronald Shambaugh.
WILMER C. WHITEMAN
LONACONING - Wilmer Connell Whiteman, 68, of 15319 Old Beechwood Road, Lonaconing, died Jan. 22, 1998, at his home.
Born May 28, 1929, in Lonaconing, he was the son of the late Connell Whiteman, and Ethel Mae (Broadwater) Whiteman.
Mr. Whiteman was a former construction worker, janitor at Liberty Trust Bank of LaVale and mail carrier in Allegany and Garrett counties working out of the Lonaconing Post Office for over 20 years. He was a member of the Barton American Legion Post 189 and the Senior Citizens of Georges Creek, Lonaconing. Mr. Whiteman was of the Brethren Faith. He was a kind and considerate person, never too busy to stop and give a helping hand to all. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife, Phyllis Angeline (McKenzie) Whiteman; two sisters, Ellen Vinci and husband, Charles, Lonaconing; and Betty Vinci and husband, Daniel, Lonaconing. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many aunts and uncles.
Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, on Saturday, Jan. 24, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home Monday, Jan. 26, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Donald Webb officiating. Interment will follow at the Green cemetery, Lonaconing.
A memorial service will be held by Barton American Legion Post 189, Saturday at 7 p.m.
ELNORA "DOTTIE" WADE
FROSTBURG - Elnora D. "Dottie," Wade, 78, of Frostburg, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born March 18, 1919, in Vale Summit, she was the daughter of the late Otis and Edna (Phillips) Wolford. She also was preceded in death by her sister, Lillian Minick; and three brothers, Irvin, Leroy and Mervin Wolford.
She was retired from Prichard's Hardware Store. She was a member of Frostburg Church of The Nazarene.
Surviving are one son, Robert Wade, at home; and one brother, Charles Wolford, Seminole, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 West Main Street, Frostburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Doug Gonzales officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
DOROTHY WAGNER
LAVALE - Dorothy (Schrock) Wagner, 89, of LaVale, and a resident of the Cumberland Nursing Home, died at the nursing home on Sunday, Nov. 1, 1998.
She was born May 30, 1909, in Berlin, Pa., the daughter of the late Charles L. and Matilda (Smith) Schrock. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell S. Wagner; and a brother, Robert Schrock.
Mrs. Wagner had been a member of the Park Place United Methodist Church. She attended the Berlin High School. She was a Registered Nurse, having graduated from the old Allegany Hospital School of Nursing. She was a city nurse at Cumberland City Hall and had also been employed at the offices of Dr. Royce Hodges and Dr. Leland Ransom.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are cousins Louise Smith and Isabelle Sweitzer, both of Cumberland, and Evelyn Smith, Somerset, Pa.; also, special friends, Wilma Ware, Kitty Curry and Eadie Loffert.
Friends will be received in the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. only.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Lowell Garland officiating.
Interment will be in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Rick Loffert, John Loffert, Roger Robinette, Robbie Robinette, Gary Shaffer and Mark Shaffer.
HELEN GRACE WAGNER
OAKLAND - Helen Grace Wagner, age 86, of 206 North Tenth St., Oakland, formerly of New Florence, Pa., died Friday, June 19, 1998, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
She was born Dec. 7, 1911, in New Florence, and was a daughter of the late George S. McDowell and Nora (Mabon) McDowell. She also was preceded in death by her husband, W. Bert Wagner, in 1984.
Mrs. Wagner was a retired school teacher, having taught for many years in the Ligonier Valley School District. She was a member of the Oak Park Church of the Brethren, the Oakland Civic Club, and the Loar Auxiliary of Garrett County Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by one brother, Kenneth McDowell, Armagh, Pa.; two sisters, Lorraine Robinson, Ligonier, and Anna Jean McDowell, New Florence; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the Oak Park Church of the Brethren on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mel Menker officiating.
Interment will be in the Ligonier Valley cemetery, Ligonier, on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
LILLIE JEAN WAGUS
CUMBERLAND - Lillie Jean Wagus, 58, of 109 West Third St., Cumberland, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998, at her home.
Born in Cumberland on Aug. 24, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Thomas A. Dentinger and the late Lilly J. (Beall) Dentinger.
She is survived by her husband, George William Wagus Jr.; one son, Paul A. Wagus and wife, Wanda, Mount Savage Road, LaVale; one brother, Thomas R. Dentinger, Clearspring; one sister, Barbara A. Jackson and husband, Lonnie, Wiley Ford, W.Va.; and four grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 10 a.m. by Pastor Randy Ryel and Mr. Michael Duncan.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
