HARRIET L. "PERK" WITT
ECKHART - Harriet L. "Perk" Witt, 76, of 17312 Porter Road, SW, Frostburg, died Thursday, April 2, 1998, at her residence.
Born Sept. 30, 1921, in Eckhart, she was the daughter of the late Jerome and Elva (Porter) Humbertson. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph T. Witt Sr.; two daughters, Debbie Lee Witt and Carole Anne "Cookie" Mathis; four brothers; and four sisters. She was the last of her immediate family.
Mrs. Witt was a homemaker. She was an active member of the Eckhart Methodist Church and the Helping Hand of the United Methodist Women. She also was a former volunteer for many years at Frostburg Village Nursing home.
Surviving are one son, Ralph "Tom" Witt Jr. and wife Sue Ann, Street; one grandson, Michael Thomas Witt, at home; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating.
Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
KATHLEEN M. WOLF
OAKLAND - Kathleen Maroney Wolf, age 72, of Oakland, died on Palm Sunday, April 5, 1998, at her home.
She was born in Oakland Feb. 17, 1926, and was a daughter of the late Richard L. Maroney and Dorothy (Ack) Maroney. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur "Boots" Wolf, in 1983.
She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and Youghiogheny Glades Chapter D.A.R.
Surviving are four sons, Arthur Wolf Jr., Newark, Del., David R. Wolf, Pasadena, Md., Dr. Michael A. Wolf, Friendsville, and Stephen B. Wolf, Oakland; one daughter, Deborah W. Townsend, Laurel; one sister, Lois Stegmerten, Linthicum; and eight grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter's Catholic Church on Wednesday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Fr. Richard Spencer as celebrant.
Cremation will follow.
The family suggests memorials be directed to the Arthritis Foundation.
ARVEL W. WOLFORD
WELLMAN, Iowa - Arvel W. Wolford, 80, of Parkview Manor, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Oct. 5, 1998, after a long illness.
Born in Eckhart Mines, Md., on April 7, 1918, he was the son of the late Samuel Wolford and Mary (Rephann) Wolford.
He was also preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers.
Surviving are three sisters, Virginia Yost, Eckhart Mines, Md., Helen Airhart, Baltimore, Md., Elizabeth Folk, Cumberland, Md.
Funeral services took place on Oct. 10, 1998, at Keokuk National cemetery, Wellman, Iowa.
GORDON WOLFORD
CUMBERLAND - Gordon Wolford, 85, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born July 2, 1913, in Dry Fork, W.Va., he was the son of the late Robert and Florence Jane Wolford. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Elva Anne Wolford, in 1991; two brothers, Harry and Thomas Wolford; and two sisters, Ella Mae Wolford and Elsie Bryant.
Mr. Wolford was retired from the Local 489 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union, Cumberland. He was a United Brethren by faith and a member of the Experimental Airplane Association, Chapter 426, Mexico Farms; Cumberland Eagles 245; and the AARP.
Surviving are one daughter, Audrey Carol Wolford, Cumberland; a special niece, Violet Butcher and husband Pete, Onego, W.Va.; two sisters, Daisey Thelma Vandeventer, Knoxville, Iowa, and Lois Elizabeth Paxton, Witchita, Kan,; one brother, Virgil Wolford, Dry Fork; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David C. Moon officiating.
Interment will be in Davis Memorial cemetery, Cumberland.
Pallbearers will be Jim Friend, Dick Graham, Nelson Dennis, Gary Umstot, Robert Rider and Gilbert Bryant.
MILDRED E. WOLFORD
CUMBERLAND - Mildred Elizabeth Wolford, 66, of Queen City Towers, Paca Street, Cumberland, died Monday, Oct. 19, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
She was born in Cumberland on Sept. 23, 1932.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley J. Wolford; one son, Larry Netzer; two brothers, Earl Troutman and Francis Troutman; and four sisters, Eva Robinette, Mary Netzer, Margaret Randle and Delores Van Devander.
Mrs. Wolford formerly attended Central Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by one brother, John Carl Troutman, Baltimore; one sister, Norma Jean Wolford, Cumberland; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Leasure-Stein Funeral Home, Cumberland.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Harold T. Shaffer officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
RAY WOLFORD
BALTIMORE - Ray Wolford, of Baltimore, passed away on June 30, 1998, at the Gilcrest Nursing Home.
He was the beloved husband of Ruth V. Wolford; the devoted father of Gerald Wolford; father-in-law of Barbara Wolford; the dear grandfather of Michelle and Terry Karlson; and great-grandfather of Tiffany and Terry. He is also survived by six brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were held at the Bruzdzinski Funeral Home in Essex, officiated by the Rev. Robert Brookman of Piney Grove Methodist Church.
Interment was at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens, Baltimore.
MARGARET E. WOLTZ
CUMBERLAND - Margaret E. "Maggie" Woltz, 79, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, at the Western Maryland Center, Hagerstown.
Born Feb. 13, 1918, in Freedom, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Frank Chi Trozzo and the late Mary Teresa (Perelli) Trozzo. She also was preceded in death by her first husband, Nicholas Pompei.
Mrs. Woltz was a retired proofreader for the Cumberland Times-News with 34 years of service. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She also was a member of the Cumberland Outdoor Club Ladies Auxiliary and the Times-News Retirees. She was an avid Dodgers and Lakers fan.
Surviving are her husband, William G. Woltz, Cumberland; a daughter, Anna Mary (Pompei) Stinson and husband Jim, Cumberland; two stepdaughters, Linda Williams and husband Danny, Evansville, Ind., and Judy Robosson and husband Jerry, Beans Cove, Pa.; three sisters, Sarah Rorick and husband Jack, Cumberland, Caroline Burns, Ranson, W.Va., and Julia Brant and husband Albert, Cumberland; and sister-in-law, Sister Anna Pompei, Trenton, N.J.
She was a loving grandmother to Christopher Stinson and wife Gloria, Cumberland, Jeffrey Stinson and wife Stacha, Martinsburg, W.Va., Andy and Jerod Williams, Evansville, and Eric, Chad and Tosha Robosson, Clearville, Pa. The loves of her life were great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Abagail Stinson, and Stephanie Robosson.
Also surviving are two nieces, Mary Lou Dawson and husband Raymond, and Patty Kennedy and husband John; five nephews, Joe Kelley and wife Mary, Larry Burns and wife Liz, Michael Brant and wife Lynelle, Gary Brant and wife Paula, Kenny Burns and wife Tina; and 11 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Vance Pastorius, O.F.M., as celebrant.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.
