FRANCES ANN RITCHIE
CUMBERLAND - Frances Ann Ritchie, 69, of Cumberland, died Friday, Feb. 20, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
Born June 7, 1928, in Westernport, she was the daughter of the Marie (Gillesppie) Thompson of Moran Manor Nursing Home, and late John Thompson.

Mrs. Ritchie was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cumberland.

Surviving are a husband, Raleigh "Pete" Ritchie, Cumberland; three sons, John Ritchie, Cumberland, James Ritchie, Cumberland, and Brian Ritchie and wife Cathy, Ellicott City; two daughters, Kathy Kienhofer and husband, Jim, Frederick, and Diane Garlitz and husband, George, Eckhart; two brothers, James and Joseph Thompson, Westernport; and five grandchildren, Taryn Kienhofer, Brandy Phennicie, Tommy Phennicie, Kayla Ritchie and Kristen Ritchie.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

A memorial mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Westernport, with Father Jim Hannon, celebrant.

The cremated remains will be interred at the Maryland Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap on Monday at 3 p.m.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Governor's Commission Kidney Disease, 5th Floor, O'Connor Building, 201 West Preston St., Baltimore, MD 21201.

MARY E. RITTER
CUMBERLAND - Mary Elizabeth Ritter, 76, of 818 Mount Royal Ave., Cumberland, formally of LaVale, died Friday, Oct. 9, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Aug. 13, 1922, in Carlos, she was the daughter of the late Bernard Ellis and the late Jean (Fatkin) Ellis Kirkwood.

Mrs. Ritter was a former inspector at Westinghouse in Philadelphia during World War II, and was a former beauty shop operator. She was a member of LaVale United Methodist Church and a former member of the church choir.

Surviving are her husband of 29 years, Jack Ritter, Cumberland; a brother-in-law, Melvin Ritter and wife Carol, Houston; a special friend, Katie Carney, LaVale; and several cousins.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Bernadette M. Ross officiating.

Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.

WAYNE E. RIZER
HAGERSTOWN - Wayne E. Rizer, 65, of 11320 Lakeside Drive, Lot 30, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Nov. 12, 1998, at his home. Born Dec. 14, 1932, in Hyndman, Pa., he was the son the late Eugene R. Rizer and Mary E. Rizer Shaffer of Bedford, Pa. Mr. Rizer was retired from Fairchild Aircraft and Rohr Industries. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Kemp Lodge 150 AF & AM, Mount Savage; was a 32nd De gree Scottish Rite Mason in Cumberland; and was a member of Redmen Council 84 in Williamsport and Amvets Post 10 in Hagerstown. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Ella Mae Rizer, Hagerstown; two sisters, Carol Miller, Falls Church, Va., and Mary Jane Brewster, Ocean Pines, Miss.; brother, Donald E. Rizer, Hyndman; and one grandchild. Friends will be received at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North.

SALLY R. ROACH
BON SECOUR, Ala. - Mrs. Sally R. Roach, age 71, a native of New Jersey, a resident of Bon Secour, and formerly of Cumberland, Md., died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998, at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Roach is survived by her husband, Mr. Gerald E. Roach, Bon Secour; one sister, Mrs. Lenora Peters, Gulf Breeze, Fla.; one niece, Leona Taylor, Marietta, Ga.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998, at 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Bon Secour, with Father Scott James officiating.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Interment will be in Witt cemetery, Bon Secour.

Arrangements are by Bayview Funeral Home, 2551 South McKenzie St., Foley, Ala.

EDWARD E. ROBERTS
LAVALE - Edward Earl Roberts, 80, of 700 Braddock Ave., LaVale, died Friday, April 18, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born May 28, 1917, in Thomas, W.Va., he was the son of the late William T. Roberts and the late Agnes B. Roberts. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma (Miller) Roberts, on Feb. 9, 1989.

Mr. Roberts was a retired machinist for the B&O; Railroad with 45 years of service. He was a graduate of Moose Heart, Moose Heart, Ill.

He was governor of the Cumberland Loyal Order of Moose 271 in 1965; member of the Fort Cumberland Post 13 American Legion and Henry Hart Post 1411 VFW; and charter member of the Cumberland Historic cemetery Organization.

Staff Sgt. Roberts was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served as artillery mechanic with the 260th Ordinance Company in the Southwest Pacific Theater of Operations. He inspected, maintained and repaired all types of artillery weapons and auxiliary equipment including anti-aircraft automatic weapons and guns. He served in New Caledonia, Guadalcanal, Peleliu, the Russell Islands and Saipan. As Staff Sgt. Artillery Mechanic, he fought bravely against the evil Japanese Empire.

He was a conservative pro-life Republican and a supporter of Ellen Sauerbrey for Maryland governor. He was a fighter for and upheld the causes of the Cumberland Historic cemetery Organization, which was founded in 1983 by his step-grandson Edward W. Taylor Jr. and the late Katherine M. Wolford.

Surviving are a stepson, Edward W. Taylor Sr. and wife Christina, LaVale; a stepdaughter, Rosalie S. Dunn and husband James, Cumberland; a brother, Raymond Roberts, Arizona; three sisters, Lillian Lamm, Arizona, Marian Logan, Washington, and Evelyn King, Cumberland; five grandchildren, Edward W. Taylor Jr., Theresa (Taylor) Holt, William M. Taylor, Michael J. Taylor and Shawn P. Taylor, and four grandchildren from his first marriage; one great-grandchild, John J. Dignan Jr.; and a niece, Patricia Gray and husband Roger, Barrelville.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Prayers for the Holy Deceased will be prayed by the Cumberland Historic cemetery Organization Tuesday at 3 p.m. The Cumberland Loyal Order of Moose will have a memorial service Tuesday at 8 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed by the Cumberland Historic cemetery Organization Tuesday at 8:30 p.m., led by member Mary Ann Echard.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. with Father William Moody officiating.

Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be accorded at the graveside by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be Cumberland Historic cemetery Organization members William M. Taylor, William McLaughlin and David Becker, and Moose Lodge 271 members William Phillips, Mason Appell and Gerald Ruppenkamp. Cumberland Historic cemetery Organization Chaplain James Klipstein Sr. will be flag bearer.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Historical cemetery Organization, 534 A Street, LaVale, MD 21502.

ARMINTA ROBERTSON
LONACONING - Arminta Marion Robertson, 86, of 15805 Rockville St., Lonaconing, died April 28, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born at Midland on Jan. 15, 1912, she was a daughter of the late John Nelson Thrasher and Pansy (Fazenbaker) Thrasher. She was preceded in death by her husband William G. Robertson, in 1971. Also preceding her in death were six brothers, James R. Thrasher, Calvin Thrasher, Raymond T. Thrasher, Ernie Thrasher, John Nelson Thrasher Jr., Lorraine Thrasher; and one sister, Colleen Thrasher.

Mrs. Robertson was a member of First United Methodist Church, Lonaconing, the Georges Creek Senior Citizens, Lonaconing, and Barton Senior Citizens, Barton.

Surviving are two sons, William G. Robertson Jr. and wife, Jan, Bowling Green, Carleton Robertson and wife, Aleda Ann, Barton; and one daughter, Sandra Kay Cosgrove and husband, Martin, Waldorf; two brothers, Paul David Thrasher, Kissimmee, Fla., Eugene Thrasher, Midland; and two sisters, Evelyn Robinette, Cumberland, and Mabel Marble, Warren, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, on Wednesday, April 29, 1998, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, April 30, 1998, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, May 1, 1998, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Mortimore and the Rev. Gary Trail officiating.

Interment will follow at Frostburg Memorial Park, Frostburg.

GEORGE E. ROBERTSON
MIDLAND - George Elmer Robertson, 91, of 14405 New Georges Creek Road, Frostburg, died November 22, 1998, at Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing.
Born Jan. 4, 1907, in Midland, he was a son of the late George Robertson and Maude (Harding) Robertson.

He was of the Methodist faith, and was a life member of Midland Sportsman's Club. Mr. Robertson was retired from Kelly-Springfield Tire Company with 44 years' service.

Surviving are his wife, Loretta Mae (Fair) Robertson; one daughter, Judy A. Ravenscroft and husband, John, Midland; two sons, Francis Robertson and wife, Mildred, Niles, Ohio, and Edward Robertson and wife, Phyllis, Gilmore; one brother, Joseph Robertson, Cumberland; and one sister, Margaretta Dodd, Cumberland. Also surviving are grandchildren, Gary, Mark, David, Scott, Chris, Darren Robertson, Penny Smolek, Shari Amoruso, Brian and Jeff Ravenscroft; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at 10:30 a.m. with Sister Joan Maenner, OSF Pastorial Life Director.

Interment will follow in St. Josephs cemetery, Midland.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.
