MARY C. MILLER
CUMBERLAND - Mary "Marie" Cumiskey Miller, 77, of 13 Waverly Terrace, Cumberland, and residing at the Lions Manor Nursing Home, died Monday, Dec. 14, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born May 18, 1921, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Bernard Cumiskey Sr. and the late Cecelia (Mills) Cumiskey. She also was preceded in death by her husband, William "Boots" Miller, in 1967; and two grandchildren, Renee C. Pendergast and Alexandra R. Kisner.
Mrs. Miller was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and an active member of the Emerald Ball Committee of St. Patrick's Church; member Fort Cumberland Post 13 Ladies Auxiliary; and member Henry Hart Post 1411 VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are four sons, John A. Miller, Greenbelt, William P. Miller and wife Dorothy, Cumberland, Gregory Miller and wife Leslie, San Antonio, Texas, and Norman S. Miller and wife Dorothy, San Antonio; four daughters, Mary C. "Bootsie" Miller, Dover, Del., Theresa "Terri" Crawford and friend Harry "Butch" Fuller, Cumberland, Nancy A. Pendergast, Cumberland, and Marilyn Kisner and husband Daniel, Chalfont, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Patricia Wigger and husband Thomas, Cumberland; three brothers, Thomas B. Cumiskey and wife Helen, Cumberland, William Cumiskey and wife Leona, Texas, and Charles Cumiskey and wife Eileen, Georgia; 17 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A Wake Service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 8:45 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Thursday at 9 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas Bevan as celebrant.
Interment will be in the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic cemetery.
NORMA J. MILLER
KLONDIKE- Norma J. Miller, 70, of 20503 Klondike Road, SW, Frostburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998, at her residence.
Born May 18, 1928, in Woodland, she was the daughter of the late William and Alberta (Schell) Yantz. She also was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Miller Sr.; two daughters, Maria Lynn Miller and Sally Robinette; a grandson, William Robinette Jr.; and two granddaughters, Destiny Robinette and Sarah Miller.
Mrs. Miller was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. John's Episcopal Church, Frostburg.
Surviving are six daughters, Loreen Harn, Hagerstown, Linda Imes, Frostburg, Patricia Miller, Cumberland, Bonnie Skidmore, Cumberland, Tonya Custer, Frostburg, and Kimberly Blubaugh, Lonaconing; six sons, James W. Miller Jr., Westpoint, Va., Mark Miller, Cumberland, William Miller, Cumberland, Charles Miller, Frostburg, Roger Miller, Cumberland, and Dale Miller, Frostburg; one brother, James Yantz, Las Vegas, Nev.; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Father Thomas Staupe and Pastor John Koontz officiating.
Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park.
WILLIAM A. MILLER JR.
CUMBERLAND - Dr. William A. Miller Jr., 63, of Absecon, N.J., formerly of Cumberland, died Friday, Feb. 20, 1998, at his home of 34 years.
Born Sept. 5, 1934, in Cumberland, he was a son of the late William A. Miller Sr. and Gussie J. (Catherman) Miller.
Dr. Miller was a graduate of Allegany High School, Class of 1952. He received his BS degree in social work from Wake Forest University and MS degree in social work from West Virginia University, Morgantown, in 1960, and PhD from Rutgers University in 1975, while serving as executive director of Atlantic Mental Health Center for 12 years. He later became part-time Clinical Director of Family and Community Services in Ocean County, N.J., for the Diocese of Trenton for eight years. He was a licensed marital and family therapist, and was a member of the National Association of Social Workers; American Orthopsychiatric Association; and American Society of Clinical Hypnosis.
He was a former adjunct professor for Rutgers University. He retired from private practice in 1995.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Donner during the Korean Conflict; and a member of Absecon Presbyterian Church and former ordained elder. He was a member and past president of Absecon Lions Club and American Legion Post 28; and former member of the Soaring Society of America.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Ann (Thuss) Miller; and his children, William A. Miller III, Philadelphia, and Lynn Frattini and husband Larry, Victorville, Calif.; and one sister, Dorothy Miller Kight and husband Bill, of Cumberland.
Funeral services and burial will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1998, in Absecon.
ANNA L. MINNICK
FROSTBURG - Anna L. Minnick, 79, of Frostburg, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
Born Oct. 12, 1918, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late James and Rose (Spitznas) Jeffries. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Minnick; a grandson, John Bradley Stevens; and two brothers, James and Donald Jeffries.
Mrs. Minnick was a Head of Supervision of Salad Department at Chesapeake Hall, Frostburg State University, a member of Salem United Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School and Bible School, and was a member of the Mizpah Sunday School Class, Ladies Aid Society and the choir. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and was a kindergarten bus aid. She wrote poetry, mostly about her family, and sewed, and loved to bake.
Surviving are three daughters, Patty Stevens and husband, John, Carolyn Barmoy and husband, Gary, and Debbie Brodbeck and husband, John, all of Frostburg; ten grandchildren, Kevin Stevens and wife, Jennifer, Catonsville, Patrick Stevens and wife, Krista, Cumberland, Scott Stevens and fiancee, Vickie Combs, Waldorf, Douglas Barmoy and wife, Kristin, Westminster, Shawn Barmoy and wife, Deborah, Owings Mills, Dawn Sivic and husband, Rick, Frostburg, Amy Twigg, Frostburg, Lisa Jackson and husband, Jeff, Frostburg, Ryan Brodbeck, Frostburg, and John Brodbeck, Jr., Oakland; ten great-grandchildren; and close friend, Harry Duckworth, Frostburg.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., Frostburg, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Lawrence A. Neumark officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Kevin, Pat and Scott Stevens, Doug and Shawn Barmoy, Ryan Brodbeck; and honorary pallbearers, Chase Barmoy and Zachary Stevens.

BETTY V. MINNICK
ELLERSLIE - Betty Virginia (Crosby) Minnick, 76, of 14212 Temple St., Ellerslie, died Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 26, 1922, in Hyndman, a daughter of the late Albert C. and Vesta Marie (Brandt) Crosby. In 1991, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Lloyd Allen Minnick.
She is survived by sons L. Joseph, wife, Sandy, and grandson, Joel, Mechanicsburg, and Richard A., wife Lupe, and grandsons, Derek and Dylan, Dillsburg.
Mrs. Minnick was a retired employee of DeVore's Market, Ellerslie. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Ellerslie.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ken L. Korns officiating.
Interment will be in Hyndman cemetery.
ELNORA A. MINNICK
FROSTBURG - Elnora A. Minnick, 82, of 156 Washington St., Frostburg, died Tuesday, May 5, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
Born April 19, 1916, in Garrett County, she was the daughter of the late William and Annie (Robison) Garlitz. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard A. Minnick; two brothers, Francis Garlitz and Berman Garlitz; and two sisters, Pearl Garlitz and Cordella Durst.
Mrs. Minnick was Methodist by faith. She was a homemaker, and she loved taking care of her home, flowers and garden.
Surviving are one daughter, Alda Wade, LaVale; five sons, Jack Minnick and wife Gloria, Meyersdale, Pa., Millard Minnick and wife Carol, Finzel Road, Robert Minnick and wife Lettie, Finzel, Bernard "Junior" Minnick and wife Karen, Finzel, and Steven Minnick and wife Michaela, Accident; two sisters, Ida Hetz, Avilton, and Beatrice Durst, Swanton; one brother, Melvin Garlitz, Beall School Road; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Arthur Lillicropp officiating. Interment will be in the Blocher cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Christopher Minnick, Scott Minnick, Jeremy Minnick, Robbie Minnick, Michael Minnick and Jerod Minnick.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the American Heart Association or the Allegany County Chapter of the Maryland League for Crippled Children.

FROSTBURG - Mary J. Minnick, 71, of Frostburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born June 20, 1927, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Charles K. and Nellie (Sipes) Mire.
Mrs. Minnick was employed at Frostburg State University. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Chapter #221; a Gold Star Sister; and the American Legion Auxiliary Farrady Unit #24.
Surviving are her husband, Allen B. Minnick; one son, David Minnick and wife, Sherry, Frostburg; three daughters, Linda Martin and husband, Bill, Jacksonville, Fla., Susan Moyers and husband, Raymond, Cumberland, Lorraine Minnick, Frostburg; seven grandchildren, Brian, Bruce, Bradley and Brooke Firlie, Jesse and Wayne Moyers, and David Minnick Jr.; five great-grandchildren, Luke, Tarrah, Jacob, Daniel, and Chante; two sisters, Pauline Chaney, Warren, Mich., and Natalie Jean Heller, Ortisville, Mich.; and half-sister, Rosalie Jones, Salt Lake City, Utah.
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 a.m. with Father William E. Moody officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
