JAMES D. HOUSE JR.
DARNESTOWN - James Dewey House Jr., 71, of 15220 Jones Lane, Darnestown, formerly of Cumberland, died Monday, April 13, 1998, at the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Gaithersburg.
He was born April 2, 1927, in Cumberland, the son of the late James D. House Sr., and Marcella (Cross) House. He also was preceded in death by one son, James Alan House; one daughter, Jaclyn Mundy; and one sister, Esther Knisley.
He served with the U.S. Army in World War II, and in the Merchant Marines.
He was a truck driver.
Surviving are his wife, June (McDaniel) House; one son, Thomas Edward House Sr., and wife, Cathy, Cumberland; two daughters, Rosella Edwards and special friend, Donald G. Willis, Darnestown, and Lou Ann Cammer and husband, Steve, Standardsville, Va.; four grandchildren, Thomas E. House Jr., Jeremy Allen House, April Dawn Budrecki and Jessica Lynn Cammer; and three great-grandchildren, Stephen House, Christin House and Cameron Budrecki.
Friends will be received at the Leasure-Stein Funeral Home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Veterans Chapel at Rocky Gap with Chaplain Charles Griffith officiating.
Interment will be in the Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.
Military Honors will be accorded at the graveside by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
RUTH M. LEASURE
FROSTBURG - Ruth Marie Leasure, 73, of Frostburg, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Feb. 25, 1924, in Hundred, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Montgomery G. and Eva (Van Horn) Hostutler. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar William Leasure, on Nov. 13, 1993; five brothers, Jess, Edward, Virgil, Everett, Stanley "Mac," and Harvey Hostutler; two sisters, Opal and Hazel; and one grandson, Steven Greise.
Mrs. Leasure was a former employee of the Owens Illinois Glass Co. She was Methodist by faith.
Surviving are two stepsons, Carl W. Leasure, and Walter S. "Buck" Leasure and wife Dorothy L., all of LaVale; four stepdaughters, Geneen A. Copeland and husband Melvin, Tacoma, Wash., Charlotte L. Mowery and husband Elden, Osterburg, Pa., Wanda E. Beard and husband Richard, Roanoke, Va., and Barbara Marie Sites and husband Richard, Cumberland; two sisters, Mable McElroy, Ravenna, Ohio, and Edith Edgell, Elkins, W.Va.; two sisters-in-law, Eileen Hostutler, Wilmington, Del., and Hilda Mae Logh, Flintstone; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; six nephews; and three nieces.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 p.m. with Chaplain Lewis P. Twigg officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
JOHN W. HOWSARE SR.
FROSTBURG - John Wesley Howsare Sr., 54, of 18362 Cherry Lane, SW, Frostburg, died Tuesday, April 15, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Aug. 26, 1943, in Shaft, he was the son of the late William B. and Eleanor (Hite) Howsare. He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Michelle Renee Howsare; and two brothers, William Howsare and George Howsare.
Mr. Howsare was employed at Sherwood Lanes, Grahamtown, and formerly was employed at Kaiser Refractories, Zihlman. He formerly served with the Maryland National Guard, Company C, 121st Engineers Battalion, as an assistant squad leader.
Mr. Howsare was a member of the Shaft United Methodist Church. He also was a member of the Frostburg Elks Lodge 470, Farrady Post 24 American Legion, Frostburg Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1273, Frostburg Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 348, Frostburg City Bowling League and the Friday Night Georges Creek Bowling League.
Surviving are his wife, Sharon (Neilson) Howsare; four sons, William B. Howsare and wife Lisa, Little River, S.C., John Wesley Howsare Jr., Little River, Jeffrey Scott Howsare and fiancee Dee Wilson, Wrights Crossing, Jeremiah Louis Howsare Sr. and wife Estella, Wrights Crossing, and Royce Howsare and wife Pauline, Columbia, S.C.; one sister, Kathleen Sigler and husband Jim, Hagerstown; three grandchildren, William, Lauren and Zachary Howsare; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Members of the Frostburg Elks Lodge will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Thursday at 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Lawrence R. Frye officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
RAYMOND G. HUFF
CUMBERLAND - Raymond Garfield Huff, 76, of 122 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Nov. 2, 1922, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Henry G. Huff and the late Effie E. (Null) Huff.
Mr. Huff was a retired employee of the B&O; Railroad. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Military Police Unit.
Surviving are his wife, Rita (Spicer) Huff, Cumberland; a son, Gerry Huff, Cumberland; a daughter, Patricia A. Snyder and husband, Henry M. Jr., Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Howard Huff, Baltimore; and two grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from noon to 3 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., with the Rev. Richard Jewell officiating.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery.
ERNEST HUTCHESON
CUMBERLAND - Ernest Hutcheson, 89, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, May 20, 1998, at the Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
Born Feb. 24, 1909, in Lonaconing, he was the son of the late Robert M. and Mary (Marshall) Hutcheson.
Mr. Hutcheson was Presbyterian by faith and a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was a financial manager with General Acceptance Financing; a member of Fort Cumberland Lodge 211 AF & AM; past president and member of the Cumberland Lions Club; and past president and member of Cumberland Demolay.
Surviving are his wife, Beulah (Largent) Hutcheson; two nephews, R. Thomas Hutcheson, BelAir, and Robert M. Hutcheson, Cumberland; and a niece, Marjorie Traband, Forest Hill.
At the request of Mr. Hutcheson, his body will be cremated.
Graveside services will be conducted at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Ellis Kretchmer officiating.
Inurnment will follow.

CHLOE ELIZABETH "LIZ" HALL
OLDTOWN - Chloe Elizabeth "Liz" Hall, 91, of Oldtown, went to be with her Lord and her loved ones on Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, in Memorial Hospital, Cumberland. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was born June 14, 1907, in Oldtown, the daughter of the late Howard L. and Mary Jane (Stump) Kifer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Hall, on Aug. 15, 1965; and several brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Hall was a member of Oldtown Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Oldtown High School, Memorial Hospital School of Nursing class of 1931, Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse who served in her profession 55 years before retiring in 1986, she had worked at Memorial Hospital in Cumberland and also in Detroit, Mich.
She was devoted to her family and took care of many of them in the last 25 years. She is survived by a special niece, Marlene Van Meter, Oldtown; and several other nieces and nephews. Also surviving are special friends, Pastor Joe and Dottie DiNicola, Oldtown, and Judy Piper, Oldtown.
Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Oldtown Baptist Church, Oldtown, with Pastor Joseph C. DiNicola Sr. officiating. Mrs. Hall's body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services.
Interment will follow in Davis Memorial cemetery.
