EVELYN M. KYLE
BARTON - Evelyn Marie (Lancaster) Kyle, 61, of 23104 Earnhardt Drive, Barton, died Oct. 20, 1998, at home.
Born Sept. 7, 1937, in Lonaconing, she was a daughter of the late Stanley Lancaster and Jeanie (Steele) Lancaster.
She was a retired nursing assistant having worked for 26 years. She was a member of the Barton Methodist Church, and Local 27 Union at Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
Surviving are her husband, Roy William Kyle Sr.; a son, Roy William Kyle Jr. and wife, Kimberly, Landover; two daughters, Deborah K. Diehl and husband, Greg, Lonaconing; and Tammie L. Shockey and husband, Tommy, Barton. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Robert Robertson, Jeremy Robertson, Ashlee Robertson, Laura Kyle and Derek Kyle; one great-grandchild, Kyana Lea Robertson; two brothers, Thomas Lancaster, Lonaconing, and Owen Lancaster and wife Ruth, Westernport; two sisters, Imogene Stafford and husband, Harold, Lonaconing, and Margaret Broadwater and husband, Marvin, LaVale; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Kyle was expecting another grandchild on Nov. 3, 1998.
Friends will be received at Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, on Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Oct. 23, 1998, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. James Kyle, the Rev. Alvin Kyle, and the Rev. Bernadette Ross officiating.
Interment will follow at Mountain View cemetery, Moscow Mills.
Pallbearers will be William Kyle, Derek Kyle, Tom Shockey, Greg Diehl, Bruce Broadwater and Richard Miller.
SHIRLEY ANN GRAY
CUMBERLAND - Shirley Ann Gray, 54, of Cumberland, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
Born May 24, 1943, in Kansas City, Kan., she was the daughter of the late Robert Martindale and the late Irene (Bright) Ward. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond John Gray.
Surviving are three daughters, Kim A. Baker and husband, Darrell, Cumberland, Romona Hester and husband, Brian, Tulsa, Okla., and Loretta F. Rumple, Tulsa; four grandchildren; two stepbrothers, Donald L. Ward, Liberal, Kan., and Perry R. Ward, McPherson, Kan.; and five stepsisters, Joy C. Ward, Ottawa, Kan., Mary L. Starbuck, Ottawa, Carol J. Everett, Ottawa, Nancy K. Proctor, Williamsburg, Kan., and Betty Romeriz, Ottawa.
A memorial service will be conducted on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., with the Rev. Lee A. McDaniel officiating.
The cremated remains will be interred in Sunset Memorial Park.
THOMAS T. LEASE
MOUNT SAVAGE - Thomas T. Lease, 61, of Mount Savage Road, died Monday, April 13, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
He was born April 27, 1936, in Bowling Green, the son of the late Robert Lease and Ruth (Berry) Lease.
Tom worked as the counter man at Coney Island, serving hotdogs for many years.
Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Wilma (Lowery) Lease; two sons, Tony and Billy of Mount Savage Road; three brothers, William D.R. Lease, Cockeysville, David E. Lease, Bowman's Addition, George C. Lease, Slanesville, W.Va.; five sisters, Dottie C. Simpson, Eleanor L. Gillespie, Betty P. Metz, Sandy K. McDonald, all of Cresaptown, Mary M. Ammons, Fort Ashby, W.Va.; one granddaughter.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Leasure-Stein Funeral Home, 230 Baltimore Ave., Cumberland.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Henry Crissinger officiating.
Interment will be in the Lease cemetery, Cresaptown.
HAROLD E. GIBSON
CUMBERLAND - Harold Edwin "Hoot" Gibson, 74, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, July 15, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
Born April 17, 1924, in Wheeling, W.Va., he was the son of the late A.N. and Leona L. (Smith) Gibson. He also was preceded in death by an infant son, Ronald Edwin Gibson.
Mr. Gibson was a Protestant by faith. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. After the war, he had worked for the B&O; Railroad, the Cumberland Police Department, the Maryland House of Corrections and in 1979 retired from the Allegany County Sheriff's Department where he had served as a deputy sheriff. He was a life member of the Fort Washington Chapter 2 Disabled American Veterans, Cumberland.
Survivors include his wife, Betty (Keplinger) Gibson; a son, Donnie Gibson and wife Linda, Westernport; two daughters, Sharon Wharton, Cumberland, and Arlene Warner and husband Brooks Warner Jr., Cumberland; one brother, A.L. Gibson and wife Joan, Philadelphia; one sister, Zelma Allen and husband Frank, Philadelphia; eight grandchildren, Donnie Gibson Jr. and wife Robin, Lonnie Gibson and wife April, all of Lancaster, Pa., Tammy Hall and husband Bucky, Cathy Wharton, Stacy Wharton, Brooks Warner III and Sam Warner, all of Cumberland, and Ashley Gibson, Winchester, Va.; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., corner of Greene and Smallwood streets, Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Chaplain Lewis P. Twigg officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap, where military honors will be accorded by the local Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

DANIEL C. JOHNSON
CUMBERLAND - Daniel Charles Johnson, 83, of Cumberland, formerly of Banger, Pa., died Tuesday, March 31, 1998, at his residence.
Born Feb. 9, 1915, in Windgap, Pa., he was the son of the late Oscar and Laura (Hopper) Johnson. He also was preceded in death by one brother, Harvey Johnson; and one sister, Mabel Messinger.
Mr. Johnson was retired from Valorie Fashions of Windgap. He was a member of Bethel-Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Cumberland.
Surviving are his wife, Marie Ann Johnson; one daughter, Amy Cuno and husband Chris, Virginia; two sisters, Edna Everett, Bangor, and Pearl Pyscher, Easton, Pa.; three grandchildren, Paige, Amber and Michelle; and very good friends, Mr. and Mrs. James Headley.
At Mr. Johnson's request, his body will be cremated.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

GLADYS A. JOHNSON
CUMBERLAND - Gladys A. (Reuschel) Johnson, 82, of Mexico Farms, Cumberland, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at Raines Care Home in Cumberland.
Born May 30, 1915, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late George F. and Frances C. (Heavner) Reuschel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Andrew Johnson on Jan. 1, 1989.
Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She was a 1933 graduate of Pennsylvania Avenue School and a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association in Mexico Farms Chapter 426.
Surviving are three daughters, Beverly E. Johnson, Mexico Farms, Barbara A. Bennett, Palmyra, Pa., Merry M. Whitacre, Mexico Farms; two brothers, George "Bill" Reuschel, Joseph Reuschel, both of Cumberland; two sisters, Helen Saville, Cumberland, Vera Lamp, Ventura, Calif.; two grandchildren, William Whitacre, Rolla, Mo., Susan Miller, Cumberland; six great-grandchildren; and special care givers, Fay and Nelson Raines.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Pastor Mark C. Dill officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery.
ALLENE VIRGINIA JONES
CUMBERLAND - Allene Virginia Jones, 70, of Cumberland, died Saturday, April 25, 1998, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Nov. 20, 1927, in Keyser, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Arthur Charles Westfall Sr. and Elvina Sara (Shingledecker) Westfall. She was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur Charles Westfall Jr.
Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and a retired waitress. She was a member of the Cumberland Church of God and the Senior Citizens Center, Cumberland. She formerly volunteered at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Surviving are three sons, William Jones, California, Robert Jones and wife, VinCene, Alexandria, Va., James "J.D." Jones and fiance, Gail Harmon, LaVale; one daughter, Bonnie Grabenstein, Frostburg; three sisters, Marlene Regina Hebb, Shirley Lee Johnson, Patricia Ann Hite, all of Cumberland; two brothers, William Richard Westfall, Meade, Wash., Donald Eugene Westfall, Cumberland; eight grandchildren; and former husband, Bernard Jones, Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Ernest F. Santmyire and Pastor Harold T. Shaffer officiating.
Interment will be in Davis Memorial cemetery.
