MARGARET A. BERNARD
MOUNTAIN LAKE PARK - Margaret A. Bernard, 68, of 701 Deer Park Ave., Mountain Lake Park, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at the Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Sept. 14, 1919, at Thayerville, she was a daughter of the late Berchard H. Bittinger and Amelia (Krause) Bittinger.
Mrs. Bernard was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church; the church Ladies Aide; and the Garrett County Republican Club.
Surviving are her husband, Lee J. Bernard; one daughter, Shirley L. Uphold, Latrobe, Pa.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Zion Lutheran Church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Wilfred Karsten officiating.
Interment will be in the church cemetery.
JOSEPHINE E. ESHSBAUGH
FLINTSTONE - Josephine Elizabeth (Bernard) Eshbaugh, 72, of Flintstone, died Sunday, April 5, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born March 24, 1926, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Hurley Bernard and Katherine Elizabeth Myers. She also was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Eshbaugh, in 1990.
Mrs. Eshbaugh was a homemaker.
Surviving are one son, William J. Eshbaugh and wife Mary Theresa, Langley, Va.; two daughters, Linda Thacker and husband Darrell, Flintstone, and Sharon Sisk, Burlington, N.C.; one brother, Joseph Bernard, Roslyn, Pa.; one sister, Ruth Yutzy, Frostburg; three grandchildren, Darren Sisk, Darrell Sisk and Kevin Thacker; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Milton Morris officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
JAMES E. BERRY JR.
CUMBERLAND - James Edward Berry Jr., 82, of Shriver Avenue, Cumberland, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, at his home.
Born July 17, 1916, in Rawlings, he was the son of the late James Edward Berry Sr., and Miriam Alice (Llewellyn) Berry. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Alice (Berry) Valentine, Miriam Ethel Berry, and Phyllis Sarah (Berry) Filler; and one brother, George William Berry.
Mr. Berry was a retired sales manager from Queen City Dairy after 41 years of service. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Cumberland Lions Club, and the Cumberland Knights of Columbus for 45 years.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Hilda (Meagher) Berry; four daughters, Mary Lois (Berry) Powelson, and husband, Ed, Hampstead, Frances Ann (Berry) Hare, and husband, Eugene, North Canton, Ohio, Miriam Louise (Berry) Heavner, and husband, Jeffrey, McSherrystown, Pa., and Deborah Marie (Berry) Reick, and husband, Charles, Baltimore; two sons, James Edward Berry III, and wife, Nancy, Cumberland, Michael Kenneth Berry, Hampstead; one sister, Ellen Rebecca Berry; nine grandchildren, Dayna (Powelson) Stitcher, and husband, Michael, Denean (Powelson) Koontz, and husband, Bernie, Delynn Powelson, Shayne Hare, and wife, Gina, Shannon Hare, Nathan Berry, Meredith Berry, Jason Heavner, and Joel Heavner; three great-grandchildren, Kristin Stitcher, Kara Stitcher and Jensyn Koontz.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at the funeral home on Friday at 8 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Saturday at 9 a.m. with the Fr. Thomas R. Bevan as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Pallbearers will be Ed Powelson, Eugene Hare, Jeffrey Heavner, Charles Reick, Michael Stitcher and Bernie Koontz.
ETHELINDA "ETHEL" DELAWDER
CUMBERLAND - Ethelinda "Ethel" DeLawder, 84, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at the Devlin Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland.
Born Feb. 6, 1913, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Austin and Ollie (McKenzie) Fortney. She also was preceded in death by two husbands, Robert Whiteman and Garrett DeLawder; two sisters, Betty Robinson and Margaret Byers; and one brother, Raymond Fortney.
Mrs. DeLawder was a homemaker. She was a member of the Central Assembly of God Church, and the Golden Agers at the Salvation Army.
Surviving are three daughters, Sharon E. Winner and husband Ralph, LaVale, Linda I. Cameron and husband Doyle, Teague, Texas, and Lois A. Keeney and husband Donald, Union Bridge; two sons, Thomas A. DeLawder and wife Bonnie, Mexico Farms, and Gary R. DeLawder and wife Sandy, Bowling Green; one brother, Austin W. Fortney and wife Betty, Luke; 24 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

RUTH EDITH BERRY
CUMBERLAND - Ruth Edith Berry, 91, formerly of Clyde, N.Y., and residing at 12517 Lisa Drive, with her niece, Mrs. Gertrude Gillum, and husband, Norman, died at the Allegany County Nursing Home, Monday, June 8, 1998.
She was born in Bellview, Pa., on Oct. 3, 1906, and was a daughter of the late John Samuel Roberts and Edith Fern (Streeter) Roberts. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Palmer Arch Berry; a brother, Paul Roberts; and a sister, Jeanette Double.
She was the former owner and operator of Berry's Truck Stop in Clyde, N.Y.
She is survived by one son, Palmer Arch Berry Jr., and wife, Susan, Las Vegas, Nev.; and three grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at 8:30 p.m. by the Rev. Malcolm Martin.
Burial will be in the North Rose cemetery, North Rose, N.Y.
SARAH E. CLARK
REISTERSTOWN - Sarah Ellen Clark, 78, of Reisterstown, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 1998, at the Northwest Hospital Center, Randallstown.
Born June 4, 1919, in Little Orleans, she was the daughter of the late John and Emma Lowe Cornwell. She was the wife of the late Maynard E. Clark.
She was a retired waitress, and a member of the Lioness Club. Surviving are sons, Philip Eugene Leasure, Ocean City, Roger Milton Leasure, Lexington Park, Louis Daniel Leasure, Southern Maryland, Dwight Carroll Leasure, Reisterstown, and Richard Kenneth Leasure Sr., Westminster; sisters, June Smith, Little Orleans, and Barbara True; brothers, Ritchard Cornwell, Cumberland, and Eston Cornwell, Little Orleans; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills. Interment will be in Maryland Veterans cemetery, Owings Mills.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
MARY N. BEVAN
MOUNT SAVAGE - Mary N. Bevan, 80, of 17220 Mount Savage Road, NW, Frostburg, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born April 17, 1918, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late George and Clara Belle (Skidmore) Whitehead. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Bevan.
Mrs. Bevan was a retired cook from Guest Junior High School in Michigan. She was a member of the Mount Savage United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a son, Chester Bevan and wife Sandra, Sterling Heights, Mich.; five grandchildren, Chester Bevan, Timothy Bevan, Arthur Bevan, Alexandra Bevan and Sarah Bevan; a great-grandson, Cody Bevan; a sister, Betty Grimm, Akron, Ohio; two brothers, George Whitehead, Frostburg, and Harold Whitehead, Bonita Springs, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Broome Jr. and the Rev. Everett Spence officiating.
Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park.
