ELTA M. EBERT
CUMBERLAND - Elta Mae Ebert, 80, of 826 Mount Royal Ave., Cumberland, an Alzheimer's victim since 1989, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 1998, at the Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
Born April 15, 1917, in Marion, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Dr. John Schultz and Frieda (Scott) Schultz.
Mrs. Ebert was a graduate of Marion High School and Ball State University, Muncie, Ind.
In 1939, she married
Robert Little Ebert, who survives. She also is survived by three daughters, Nancy Scott and husband Dave, Durham, N.C., Betsy Cameron and husband Ken, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Maria Hardinger and husband Harold, Baltimore. An only son, Robert Little Ebert Jr., was killed in 1956 when he fell out of a tree in their yard at the age of 6. Mrs. Ebert also is survived by four granddaughters, Elizabeth Scott, Washington, D.C., Catherine Scott, Wooster, Ohio, Cara and Emily Hardinger, Baltimore. A surviving sister, Mary Lee Daniel and husband Richard, reside in Augusta, Ga.
Mrs. Ebert was long active with her husband in the operation of the S.T. Little Jewelry Co., where she served as treasurer, head of the china, glass and silver departments, and registered bridal consultant.
She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church for more than 50 years, serving as Sunday School teacher in her younger days, and then doing distinctive flower arrangements as a member of the Altar Ward.
The body is en route to the National Institute of Health, Bethesda, for Alzheimer's autopsy and study.
A memorial service will be held at the Emmanuel Parish at a later date.
The ashes will be interred in the Rose Hill cemetery.
The Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, is in charge of the arrangements.

THELMA E. BRODERICK
FROSTBURG - Thelma E. Broderick, 83, formerly of 123 Pine St., Frostburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Feb. 6, 1915, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Lena (Schramm) Pressman.
Mrs. Broderick was a homemaker. She was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ.
Surviving are her husband, James B. Broderick Sr., Frostburg Village Nursing Home; one son, James B. Broderick Jr., Meyersdale, Pa.; one daughter, Shirley Linn, Kemp Drive, Frostburg; three brothers, Basil Pressman, Donald Pressman and Ralph Pressman, all of Frostburg; one sister, Mildred McAtee, Cleveland, Ohio; two grandsons, Troy Linn, Frostburg, and Tyler Broderick, Meyersdale; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
At Mrs. Broderick's request, her body was donated to the Maryland Anatomical Board.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Lawrence A. Neumark officiating.
Friends will be received one hour prior to the service.
Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Sunset Memorial Park.
JUANITA E. DEAN
CUMBERLAND - Juanita Evelyn Dean, 83, of the Lions Manor Nursing Home, formerly of Potomac Park, Cumberland, died Wednesday, May 21, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 18, 1915, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Trevor and Emma (McKinney) Jones. She also was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Dean Sr., in 1970; three brothers, George Jones, John William Jones and Trevor Jones; and one sister, Dorothy Hymes.
Mrs. Dean was a homemaker. She was a member of Potomac Park United Methodist Church; the Bowling Green Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary; and the Demolay Mothers Club, Cumberland.
Surviving are three sons, James Robert Dean Jr., LaVale, Trevor L. "Terry" Dean, Cumberland, and Alvin Arthur Dean and wife Marcia, Potomac Park; two sisters, Grace Garlitz and Kathleen Marion, both of Cumberland; five grandchildren, Cynthia Anne Voelker and husband Dan, Westernport, Tara Lynn Dean, Columbia, Julie Rae Dean, Cumberland, Brian Dean and wife Cristy, Martinez, Ga., and Sherry Dean, Cumberland; and three great-grandchildren, Ryan Daniel Voelker, James Dean and Sierra Dean.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James L. McMahan officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.
ADELINE E. DENKENBERGER
CUMBERLAND - Adeline Elizabeth (Jefferys) Denkenberger, 88, formerly of Winchester Road, Cumberland, died Thursday, Sept. 10, 1998, at the Cumberland Nursing Home.
Born Feb. 8, 1910, in Kingwood, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles F. and Anna Z. (Brailer) Jefferys. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Edward D. Denkenberger, in 1986; one brother, Roy Jefferys; one granddaughter, Sherry Lynnanne Claycomb; and one great-grandson, Thomas Michael Claycomb.
Mrs. Denkenberger was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. She was a 30-year member of the St. Ambrose Ladies Auxiliary, having also served as treasurer. She was an avid bowler and had belonged to the Appalachian Snow Seekers Club.
Survivors include her son, Edward F. Denkenberger and wife Faye, Frederica, Del.; two daughters, Anna C. Hammersmith, Abilene, Texas, and Ellen E. Claycomb and husband Tom, LaVale; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Greene and Smallwood streets, Cumberland, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
The service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Reginald Russo, OFM, Cap., officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandchildren, Tom Claycomb, Dan Claycomb, Eddie Denkenberger, Tim Claycomb, Trinity Claycomb and Anita Claycomb.
Honorary pallbearers will be Eric and Jim Claycomb.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 111 S. George St., Cumberland, MD 21502.
DOROTHY L. COST
CUMBERLAND - Dorothy L. Cost, 91, formerly of B Street, LaVale, died Thursday, April 2, 1998, at the Cumberland Nursing Home.
Born Sept. 17, 1906, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Webster B. Long and Jessie (Myers) Leonard Long. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon R. Cost, on Nov. 8, 1973; one son, Charles B. Krimm Jr., on Jan. 20, 1979; two brothers; and two sisters.
Mrs. Cost was a graduate of Allegany High School and Frostburg Normal School. She studied violin at Ursuline Academy for five years. She was a resource string music teacher and was a substitute teacher for the Allegany County Board of Education. A very active member of Centre Street United Methodist Church serving on many committees, she was a former chairman of the historical committee, was a member of the Welderman's Bible Class and Sarah Circle of the United Methodist Women, and worked with the junior choir in LaVale. She held many offices in the Allegany County Music and Arts Council, and played with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra and many other symphony orchestras in the Cumberland and surrounding areas.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving are a daughter-in-law, June C. Krimm, LaVale; one grandson, C. Alan Krimm, Frederick; one granddaughter, Susan C. Weller, Frederick; four great-grandchildren, Jennifer L. Boothe, Kevin A. Krimm, John C. Price and Stacey A. Price, all of Frederick; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Kight Funeral Home, 309-311 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Adam E. Grim officiating. Entombment will be in the Rose Hill Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be from the United Methodist Mens Club of Centre Street United Methodist Church.
The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Centre Street United Methodist Memorial Fund.
