GARDNER -- Ronald J. Gaudet, 60, of 12 Whitney St., died Tuesday, Jan. 29, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- University Campus, Worcester, after an illness.
His wife of 32 years, Maria (Bourgeois) Gaudet, died in 1996. He leaves two sons, Dean R. Gaudet of Leominster and Paul J. Gaudet of Gardner; a daughter, Nicole Gaudet of Gardner; his mother, Evelyn (Cormier) Gaudet of Gardner; a sister, Ronalda Melanson of Gardner; five grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Bernard Gaudet of the Baldwinville section of Templeton, and Jean P. Gaudet of Canada, predeceased him. He was born in New Brunswick, son of Albert Gaudet. He graduated from high school in Canada and attended Worcester Junior College.
Mr. Gaudet was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church and Acadien Social Club.
The funeral will be held Friday, Feb. 1, from Boucher Funeral Home Inc., 110 Nichols St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. PUTNAM -- Robert J. Gouin, 48, of 88 Viens St., a machine operator, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, in Day Kimball Hospital.
He leaves his wife of 24 years, Judith K. (Wilson) Gouin; two daughters, Alyson Y. and Nicole L. Gouin, both at home; his mother, Yvette (Pilon) Gouin of Wilbraham; two sisters, Barbara Walker of North Carolina and Patricia Stote of Springfield; a brother, Ronald Gouin of South Windsor, Conn.; his maternal grandmother, Lillian Pilon of Wilbraham; two nieces, a nephew, a great-niece and a great-nephew. He was born in New Jersey and lived in Putnam since 1988.
Mr. Gouin was a production supervisor for Superior Bakery, North Grosvenordale section of Thompson, and recently became a machine operator for Industrial Paper Co. He was a member of St. Mary Church, Pomfret Tennis Club and Woodstock Chess Club. He also enjoyed golfing and bowling.
The funeral will be held at noon Saturday, Feb. 9, from Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., with a Mass at 1 p.m. in St. Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence St. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, in the funeral home.

WORCESTER -- Aurea M. Guzman, 49, of 44 Wellington St., died Saturday, Jan. 26, in a fire at her apartment building.
She leaves a son, Manuel Lugo of Worcester; a daughter, Ellen Byrnes of Worcester; her father, Salvador Guzman Sr. of Worcester; three brothers, Salvador Guzman Jr., Raymond Gonzalez and Felix Guzman, all of Worcester; seven sisters, Carmen Cruz of Ogden, Utah, Doris Garcia of Puerto Rico, Gladys, Fredysvinda, Caridad and Nerida Guzman and Luz Candelario, all of Worcester; seven grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico, daughter of Aurea (Marino) Guzman, and lived here 22 years. She attended Quinsigamond Community College.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, in Graham, Putnam & Mahoney Funeral Parlors, 838 Main St. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, in the funeral home.
Raymond J. Hachey; World War II veteran

WORCESTER -- Raymond J. Hachey, 76, of 53 Wilson St., formerly of Fitchburg, a World War II veteran and a retired draftsman, died Thursday, Jan. 31, at home after being stricken ill.
He leaves his former wife, Anita (Michaud) Hachey of Fitchburg; three sons, Richard and David Hachey, both of Fitchburg, and John Hachey of Leominster; four daughters, Mona Villapiano of Newton, Janet Morrison of Fitchburg, Lisa Mobayed of New Ipswich, N.H., and Marie Wright of Manhattan, N.Y.; three brothers, Leo and Roger Hachey, both of Fitchburg, and Joseph Hachey of Fort Pierce, Fla.; two sisters, Irene Judge and Therese Mooney, both of Fitchburg; eight grandchildren; nieces and nephews. A daughter, Judy E. Hachey of Fitchburg, died in 1967. He was born in Fitchburg, son of Emmanuel and Euphemie (LeBlanc) Hachey, and lived there many years before moving to Worcester in 1981. He graduated from Fitchburg High School and was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II, serving as a radio operator. He later graduated from the Deforest Radio School in Chicago.
Mr. Hachey was a draftsman at General Electric, Fitchburg, where he worked 20 years. He then was a self-employed draftsman, retiring in 1990. After retiring, he raised funds for the new Worcester Senior Center. He also worked with Mothers Against Drunk Driving, producing promotional videos for its public relations department. He also helped clean up and preserve the environment by various efforts, including many letters written to the Telegram & Gazette and to officials at the state and national level. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church.
After cremation in Rural Crematory, the funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, in St. Joseph's Church, 35 Hamilton St. Burial will be at a later date in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fitchburg. WORCESTER -- Gladys B. (Petersen) Haddad, 87, formerly of 545 Salisbury St. and 203 Delmont Ave., died Monday, Feb. 4, in Holy Trinity Eastern Orthodox Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Her husband, Philip G. Haddad, died in 1965. She leaves a son, Philip G. Haddad Jr. of Worcester; a daughter, Audrey J. DeMichele of Dover, N.H.; a brother, Roy M. Petersen of Shrewsbury; a sister, Edith Walsh of Westboro; four grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Rudolph and Caroline (Cosolowsky) Petersen, and lived in Worcester most of her life. She graduated from Shrewsbury High School in 1933, where she was an outstanding athlete.
With her husband, Mrs. Haddad owned and operated Haddad Liquor Store on Front Street. Previously, she was executive secretary in the human resources office of Wyman-Gordon Co. She also worked at Worcester Pressed Steel Co. and volunteered at the Junior League of Worcester from 1975 to 1981.
She was a member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral and Order of the Eastern Star Stella Chapter 3; past president of the Stellaretts; a member and past president of the DeMolay Mother's Club and the Rice Square School Parent Teachers Association; and a member of Foothills Theatre Company, Greendale Retired Women's Club, Parents Without Partners Chapter 123, and the TRI M's of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church. She was a former Girl Scout and founded a Girl Scout troop in Shrewsbury many years ago. She enjoyed ballroom dancing and bingo.
The funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, in St. George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna St. Burial will be at the family's convenience in Hope Cemetery. ATHOL -- Loretta I. (Soucie) Hosley, 82, of 821 Daniel Shays Highway, formerly of 952 Pinedale Ave., died Sunday, Feb. 3, in Quabbin Valley Healthcare.
Her husband, Ernest Hosley, died in 1994. She leaves two cousins, Dorothy Morrow of Hinsdale, N.H., and of Athol, and Carlton Adams of Athol. Two brothers, Maurice and Rolland Soucie, predeceased her. She was born in Athol, the daughter of Frank and Anges (Rolland) Soucie. She attended Athol schools and lived here all her life.
Mrs. Hosley worked at the former Ansin and McElwain Shoe Shop for many years. She was a member of Our Lady Immaculate Church. In her later years, she devoted most of her time to caring for stray cats.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Higgins-O'Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St. Burial will follow in Silver Lake Cemetery. Calling hours are 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, in the funeral home.

LEICESTER -- Jeanne T. "Terry" (Vigeant) Hurley, 71, of 11 Mount Pleasant Ave., a retired bank worker, died Thursday, Jan. 31, at home after an illness.
Her husband, Joseph P. Hurley, died in 2001. She leaves four sons, Marc Hurley of Leicester, Scott J. Hurley of Holland, Glenn T. Hurley of Cherry Valley and Jay P. Hurley of West Warwick, R.I.; 13 grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester and was raised by Corona Vigeant. She lived 31 years in Worcester before moving here in 1962. She graduated from Ascension High School and Clark University, both in Worcester.
Mrs. Hurley worked in the lockbox and wire transfer department at Shawmut Bank, Worcester, from 1977 until retiring in 1986. She enjoyed knitting.

PUTNAM -- Henrietta "May" Jason, 85, of 80 Grove St., died Saturday, Feb. 2, in her son's home.
Her husband, August Jason, died in 1978. She leaves a son, August R. Jason of Putnam; four daughters, Lillian Carbone of Stoughton, Mass., Rose-Marie Heath, Loretta Patneaude and Jeannette Lespasio, all of Putnam; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Franklin McCarthy and William McCarthy, predeceased her. She was born in Lynn, Mass., daughter of Fred and Bessie (Bracket) McCarthy.
Mrs. Jason was a member of St. Mary Church of the Visitation. She enjoyed crocheting.

MORENO VALLEY, Calif. -- William H. Jenner, 71, of Moreno Valley, formerly of Oxford, Mass., a retired Air Force security policeman, died Thursday, Jan. 31, in Loma Linda Medical Center, Loma Linda.
His wife, Helga (Lieb) Jenner, predeceased him. He leaves a son, William Foy of West Virginia; a brother, Bernard D. Jenner of Florida; a nephew and two nieces. He was born in Boston, son of William A. and Catherine (Murphy) Jenner, and lived in Oxford, Mattapan, Mass., and Hyde Park, Mass., before moving here five years ago. He attended Boston schools. He served in the Air Force from 1947 until 1964 and was a veteran of World War II, serving overseas, and the Korean and Vietnam wars. He served in the Air Force Reserves until 1987 and attained the rank of master sergeant.
Mr. Jenner was a member of the Air Force Security Police Association, American Legion Vincent F. Picard Post 234 in Northboro, Mass., and the Tuskegee Airmen in Washington, D.C.
An entombment service will be held at 11:45 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, in Notre Dame cemetery in Worcester, Mass. WORCESTER -- Ernest A. "Al" Johnson, 92, of 25 Falmouth St., a retired electrician, died Saturday, Jan. 26, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- Memorial Campus.
He leaves his wife of 62 years, Marion E. (Gutkey) Johnson; a son, Alden G. Johnson of Auburn; two daughters, Lucille E. Sampson of Leominster and Priscilla A. Chesna of Jefferson; five grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; nephews and nieces. Two brothers, C. David and Arthur N. Johnson, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Sven M. and Ida (Peterson) Johnson, and graduated from Worcester Vocational High School. He took electrical engineering courses at WPI.
Mr. Johnson was an electrician 42 years for Norton Co. He also worked at Worcester Tool and Stamping Co. and O.S. Walker Co. Inc. He was Sutton's wiring inspector for 15 years.
During the 1930s, Mr. Johnson was one of the area's outstanding semipro baseball players, and played basketball for Norton Co. in the Industrial League.
He was a member of the Norton Co. 25-Year Retired Club, the Greendale Retired Men's Club, and Quinsigamond United Methodist Church. He was a member of Athelstan Lodge of Masons and John Ericsson Lodge 25, and received his 50-year Masonic pin.

James B. Kalagher, 85, World War II veteran

FITCHBURG -- James B. Kalagher, 85, of 1199 John Fitch Highway, died Saturday, Jan. 26, in HealthAlliance-Leominster Hospital after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 61 years, Hazel W. (Gay) Kalagher; six sons, Richard Kalagher of Vienna, Va., James Kalagher of Rockledge, Fla., William Kalagher of Cape Coral, Fla., Gerald and David Kalagher, both of Westminster, and Daniel Kalagher of Pepperell; a sister, Margaruite Normandin of Shirley; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Six brothers and three sisters predeceased him. He was born in Fitchburg, son of John and Julia L. (McCue) Kalagher, and graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1935. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Kalagher was a machinist 32 years at the former General Electric Co., retiring in 1972. He was later a courier for Workers Credit Union in Fitchburg, retiring in 1981. For many years, he was a chef part time at the Fay Club.
He was a member of St. Bernard's Church, and the South End National Club.
Mr. Kalagher donated his body to Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. The memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, in St. Bernard's Church, 240 Water St. There are no calling hours. Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St., is directing funeral arrangements.
