Eleanor Bergin, 84

West Barnstable - Eleanor (Cove) Bergin, 84, of West Barnstable, a retired teacher, died Sunday, July 26, 1998 at Cape Regency Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Centerville after a short illness.

She was the wife of Charles K. Bergin.

Born in Uxbridge, Mrs. Bergin graduated from Uxbridge High School in 1933 and Lesley College in 1935.

A 45-year resident of Lexington, Mrs. Bergin taught in the Lexington public schools. In 1984, she moved to West Barnstable.

She was a member of the Lexington Golf Club.

Mrs. Bergin was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Chapel in West Barnstable.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Peter Bergin of Amherst, N.H., and Charles K. Bergin Jr. of Longmeadow; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was the mother of the late Margaret Princi.

A funeral Mass was celebrated in Our Lady of Victory Church, Centerville.

Memorial donations may be made to the Cape Cod YMCA Building Fund, P.O. Box Y, West Barnstable, MA 02668.

Olive Jane Clifton, 86

Hyannis - Olive Jane (Sargent) Clifton, 86, died Monday, July 20, 1998 at the Cape Regency Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Centerville after brief illness.

Born in Beverly, she had lived in the Mid-Cape area since 1970. She was formerly employed as a housekeeper and private secretary in the Boston area.

An avid gardener, she was a member of the Osterville Garden Club.

She is survived by a son, William J. Clifton of Glendale, Calif., and two grandsons.

Services were private.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-4680.

Patricia Copp, 78

Hyannis - Patricia (Ahearn) Page Copp, 78, a homemaker, died Wednesday, July 22, 1998 at Cape Cod Hospital after a brief fiiness.

She was the wife of the late Dr. Edgar L. Copp and J. Montgomery Page.

Born in Denver, she was educated at Madam's of the Sacred Heart School in Virginia and she attended the University of Virginia School of Engineering.

She lived her early years in Colorado, in Virginia and at Old Silver Beach on Cape Cod. In 1938, she married Mr. Page and moved to Milton, where she lived until the early 1970s.

After Mr. Page's death and her marriage to Dr. Copp, she moved to Falmouth, where he transferred his practice. In the early 1980s, they moved to Florida and lived there until his death in 1985.

In 1985, she returned to the Cape, where she had lived since, moving recently to Hyannis.

She enjoyed feeding birds, making more than 40 Oriental-style rugs, and gardening.

A graveside service and celebration of her lffe was held in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.

Ernest A. Ewing, 60

West Barnstable - Ernest A. Ewing, 60, a West Barnstable resident and business owner, died Sunday, July 19, 1998 at Cape Cod Hospital of injuries sustained in a flying accident.

He was the husband of Caroline (Bowerman) Ewing.

Born and raised in Mukden, China, Mr. Ewing moved to Yarmouthport at the age of 10 in 1948. He was a 1956 graduate of Yarmouth High School, where he was captain of the football team, and received a bachelor's degree in 1964 from Boston University.

Mr. Ewing served in the Army from 1958 to 1961, serving as a tank mechanic and as a translator in Germany.

He worked as advertising and design manager for the Electronic Corporation of America in Cambridge from 1967 to 1982.

From 1982 to 1986, he was the owner and operator of the Vacuum and Sewing House on West Main Street in Hyannis and also owned and operated Discount Sign Co. in West Barnstable since 1987.

Mr. Ewing ran in four different Boston marathons as well as competing in a mini-triathlon. He was also an amateur aviator and enjoyed traveling.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his mother, Susanne Ewing of Yarmouthport; a son, Douglas Ewing of Canton; a brother, Ernest Kleemann of Elmshorn, Germany; two sisters, Monika M. Stacy of Barnstable and Ingrid Klenke of Badsuden, Germany; and a niece and a nephew.

A funeral service was held at the First Congregational Church of Yarmouth. Burial followed in Woodside Cemetery, Yarmouthport.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Anna Margaret (Hudson) Johnson, 94

West Branstable - Anna Margaret (Hudson) Johnson, 94, a longtime West Barnstable resident, died Saturday, July 22, 1998 in the Cape Regency Care Facility in Centerville of congestive heart failure.

She was the wife of the late LeRoy Johnson.

Born in Wheelersburg, Ohio, Mrs.. Johnson was a graduate of Ohio State University, where she was a member of the Kappa Delta sorority.

She taught for many years in various schools in or near Columbus, Ohio. At 60, she fulfilled a lifelong ambition to become a registered nurse, graduating first in her class at the Columbus Technical Institute. She worked on staff at Grant Hospital in Columbus and in private practice. Mrs. Johnson also continued to teach periodically until retiring to the Cape in 1980.

Surviving are one son, Bruce W. Johnson of Wellesley; one sister, Martha (Hudson) Peterson of Hyannis; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held in St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Barnstable.

Francis T. Keary, 79

Osterville - Francis T. Keary, 79, died Thursday, July 23, 1998 at the Cape Regency Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Centerville.

Born in Brookline, Mr. Keary was a 1939 graduate of Newton High School. After high school, he entered the Navy. He served during World War II, Korea and Vietnam, and he retired in 1970.

Mr. Keary lived and worked on Hilton Head Island, S.C.; Amelia Island, Fla.; and Yulee, Fla. He worked as a free-lance photographer, doing mostly sports. He retired in 1986.

He moved to Osterville in April. He is survived by two sisters, Betty Thompson of Osterville and Marjorie A. Keary of West Barnstable; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass was celebrated at Our Lady of Hope Chapel, West Barnstable. Burial was held in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

George P. Maselli, 75

Osterville - George P. Maselli, 75, of Osterville died Saturday, July 25, 1998 at Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis.

Mr. Maselli was born and educated in Revere. He was a Navy veteran from World War II, serving in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theaters. He was discharged as a gunner's mate 1st class.

After World War II, Mr. Maselli attended New York University, where he graduated with a degree in electrical engineering. He later enrolled at Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey, where he earned his masters degree.

Mr. Maselli lived and worked in New Jersey before moving in 1962 to Chelmsford, where he worked as an electrical engineer for Raytheon in Bedford.

Mr. Maselli retired 11 years ago and moved to Osterville, where he began work as a private consultant for various engineering firms.

He enjoyed gardening, hiking, and plating the guitar and the piano.

Mr. Maselli is survived by four daughters, Janet M. Stocek of Medford, Ore., Lili R. Maselli of Wenham, Teresa A. Manahan of Keene, N.H., and Joyce M. Rodgers of Hamilton; three sons, George P. Maselli of Denver, William D. Maselli of Andover, Maine, and Donald T. Maselli of Altamont, N.Y.; four sisters, Hilda Mercurio of Medford, Nancy Maselli and Louise Cook, both of Malden, and Anna Hallaran of Georgetown; two brothers, Frank Maselli of Reading and Edward Maselli of Newington, Conn.; 14 grandchildren; and one great-granddchild.

A funeral Mass was celebrated in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Osterville.

Burial was in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

Martha J. Thomas, 64

Hyannis - Martha Janet (Schultz) Thomas, 64, died Wednesday, July 22, 1998 at her home in Hyannis.

She was the wife of Robert M. Thomas and daughter of the late Rev. Dr. Carl F. Schultz, pastor of the Federated Church of Hyannis for 48 years, and the late Janet (Prince) Schultz.

A lifelong resident of Hyannis, she graduated from Barnstable High School and attended Lesley College in Cambridge. She was a teacher/director of the Centerville Nursery School for 14 years.

Mrs. Thomas was a 50-year member; of the Federated Church of Hyannis, member and past president of the Hyannis Matrons Club and a former Sunday school teacher. She also enjoyed traveling and reading.

Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Jane E. Sosa of Miami, Fla,; two sons, Robert A. Thomas of Hyannis and Matthew J. Thomas of Mashpee; a brother, Rev. Dr. Carl E. Schultz Jr. of Glastonbury, Conn. and five grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at the Federated Church of Hyannis.
