Reginald H. Walley, 87, jazz musician and artist

WORCESTER -- Reginald H. Walley, 87, of 52 Country Club Boulevard, a longtime jazz musician and entertainer, died Sunday, Sept. 23, at home after an illness.
He leaves his fiancee, Mary A. (Barrett) Anderson; many nieces and nephews. His wife, Mary (Bethune) Walley, died in 1984. Four brothers, Frederick, Charles, Ralph and William Walley, and four sisters, Eleanor B. Chambers, Ollie Washington, Vivian Brown and Dorothy Walley, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of George and Octavia (Sumner) Walley, and attended Worcester public schools. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Northern France, Normandy, Central Europe and the Rhineland. He received four Bronze Stars.
Mr. Walley was a security guard more than 15 years at the Social Security Administration before retiring, but was most noted as an area entertainer.
He owned the Kitty Kat Lounge and the Hottentotte Lounge. He operated Reggie Walley's Dance Studio for more than 25 years.
As a drummer and vocalist, he performed with artists from around the world, including the Soul Jazz Quintet, and most recently as Reggie Walley and the Bluesicians. He was an accomplished painter.
He attended Belmont Street A.M.E. Zion Church and St. Anne's Church in Shrewsbury. He was a member of the Nipmuck tribe; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 312, and a former member of the Musicians Union.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, in Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, in the funeral home. Francis Bartkus Sr., 87

WORCESTER -- Francis G. Bartkus Sr., 87, formerly of 5 Earle St. and Emmanuel Village, Greenwood Street, a retired machinist, died Friday, Oct. 26, at St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center.
His wife of 52 years, Marjorie V. (Comerford) Bartkus, died in 1989. He leaves three sons, Francis G. Bartkus Jr. of Worcester, Richard J. Bartkus of Worcester and John A. Bartkus of Martha's Vineyard; two sisters, Ann Luby of Worcester and Helen Babraitas of San Diego; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Charles and John Bartkus, and two sisters, Connie Bartkus and Edelle Allaire, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Frank and Mary (Mackiaviciuke) Bartkus.
Mr. Bartkus was a machinist at both Norton Co. and Worcester Molded Plastics, retiring many years ago. He was member of Our Lady of Fatima Church.
The funeral will be held Monday, Oct. 29, from Nordgren Carrigan Mangsen Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 43 Belmont St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. SPENCER -- Judith A. (Williams) Benoit, 57, of 21 Lambs Grove, died Saturday, Oct 27, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center.
She leaves her husband of 38 years, Francis E. Benoit; two sons, David F. Benoit of Stafford Springs, Conn., and Michael E. Benoit of Brookfield; two brothers, James Williams of Oxford and John Williams of Sterling Heights, Mich.; a sister, Janet Krause of Spencer; and seven grandchildren. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Clarence and Loretta (Peletier) Williams.
Mrs. Benoit was a member of the Twin City Baptist Temple of Lunenburg.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at Pillsbury Funeral Home, 163 Main St. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hours are noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, in the funeral home.

WORCESTER -- Grace (Molinari) Evangelista, 75, of Worcester, a restaurant owner, died Thursday, Oct. 25, in Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston.
Her husband, Leo Evangelista, predeceased her. She leaves a son, Joseph "Jay" Evangelista, and a daughter, Gael Evangelista-Uhl, both of Southboro; a brother Wallace Molinari of Worcester; two sisters, Ruth Parlante and Lena Triola, both of Shrewsbury; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Joseph and Anna (Larange) Molinari. She graduated from Commerce High and Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing. She also attended Clark University and Assumption College.
Mrs. Evangelista was the owner and matriarch of Dino's Restaurant, Worcester. She was a member of the Worcester Art Museum, Worcester Crafts Center, Tower Hill Botanical Gardens, Opera Worcester, and Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing Alumni.
A funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30 in St. Anne's Church, 20 Boston Road. Burial will be at the family's convenience. WEBSTER -- David J. Farrar, 44, of 64 Whitcomb St., died Sunday, Oct. 28, in Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro.
He leaves his wife of 11 years, Charlene M. (Lebeau) Farrar; a son, Anthony L. Farrar of Webster; a daughter, Amanda S. Farrar of Webster; two stepsons, Robert B. Green and Andrew M. Bukowski, both of Webster; his father, Leman Farrar of North Adams; his mother, Betty (Phillips) Baldwin of Maryland; a brother, Stephen Farrar of Gardner; a sister, Debra Farrar of Oxford; five half-brothers, Kenneth Baldwin of Dudley, Francis Baldwin Jr. of Oxford, Charles Baldwin of Webster, Leman Farrar of Maine and Matthew Farrar of North Adams; three stepbrothers, William Varney of Oakdale, Conn., Kevin Varney of Tennessee and Roy Varney of Yorktown, Va.; two stepsisters, Patti Eagan of Chicopee and Karen Pereklis of Maine; and a granddaughter. A son, Teddy Farrar, died in 1976. He was born in Washington, D.C., and lived here since 1985. He attended North High School in Worcester and served in the Army.
Mr. Farrar was a reserve police officer for seven years with the Webster Police Department. He worked for McFee-Newton Towing in Worcester and was an independent wrestler for 23 years under the name Chief Dave Foxx.

WOODSTOCK -- Robert L. LeBeau, 67, of South Woodstock, died Saturday, Oct. 27, in Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam.
His wife, Marie E. (Nichols) LeBeau, died in 1992. He leaves two daughters, LeDene LeBeau of Sterling and Cheryl Thayer of Eastford, Conn.; a son, Robert Billings of Putnam; two brothers, Paul LeBeau of Putnam, and Richard LeBeau of Thompson; three sisters, Mona Radei of Moosup, Conn., Sr. Cecile LeBeau of Pittsfield, and Jean Cournoyer of Meriden, Conn.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A brother, Loius LeBeau, and a sister, Simone LeBeau, predeceased him. He was born in Thompson, son of Alfred and Yvonne (Bergeron) LeBeau, and lived most of his life in Woodstock.
Mr. LeBeau was a night watchman at the Rogers Corp. for over 30 years, retiring in 1996. Previously, he was a school bus driver. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church of the Visitation, Putnam. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, in Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam. Burial will be in Grove Street Cemetery, Putnam. Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, in the funeral home.

WORCESTER -- Jacqueline (Porter) Listewnik, 48, of 67 Outlook Drive, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, at home after an illness.
She leaves a son, Keith Listewnik, and a daughter, Jennifer Listewnik, both of Worcester; her mother, Shirley Porter of Worcester; three sisters, Linda Davis of Worcester, Susan Millett of Webster, and Janice Slaughter of Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late William Porter.
Mrs. Listewnik was a nurse's aid.

Stanley P. Wallman, 81

WORCESTER -- Stanley Phillip Wallman, 81, of 101 Stanton St., a World War II veteran, died Saturday, Oct. 27, at home.
He leaves his wife, Joyce Ann (Murray) Wallman; a brother, Raymond O. Wallman of Worcester; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was born in Worcester, son of Hildur Wallman, and lived all his life here. He attended Worcester Boys Trade and was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Iwo Jima.
Mr. Wallman worked for American Steel, Astra Pharmacueticals, and Montrose Machine. He was a member of All Souls Universalist Church, VFW Post 3657 and the Worcester 10-20 Club.

WORCESTER -- Harry Winacoo, of Worcester, formerly of Stoughton, died Sunday, Oct. 28, in the Jewish Healthcare Center.
He leaves his wife, Bernice (Kopple) Winacoo; a daughter, Berylee Turban of Massachusetts; a son, Jeffrey Winacoo of the Jefferson section of Holden; four grandchildren. Two sisters, Celia Luper and Minnie Weiner, and a brother, Jacob Winacoo, predeceased him. He attended Chelsea schools.
Mr. Winacoo was a retired foreman in the shoe industry. He had worked in Brockton many years, retiring from the Lowell Shoe Co. in Lowell, Mass.
He was a former member of the Knights of Pythias in Stoughton.
The graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, in Mishna Cemetery in Chelsea. The memorial observance will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the Jewish Healthcare Center, 649 Salisbury St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jewish Healthcare Center, 649 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA 01609. WORCESTER -- Liisa Ann Carlson, 29, of 25 Lewis St., died Tuesday, Oct. 23, in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center after a long struggle with renal kidney failure.
She leaves a son, Corey A. Robbins of Worcester; her mother, Elizabeth Malouin of Worcester; a brother, Christopher Carlson of Wales; two sisters, Renee Hair of the Rochdale section of Leicester and Nicole Carlson of Worcester; her paternal grandfather, Harry J. Carlson II of Spencer; and her maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Yolanda Malouin of Charlton. She was born in Southbridge and lived many years in Charlton before moving to Worcester. She graduated from Bay Path Regional High School, Charlton.
Miss Carlson enjoyed crafts.

NORTHBRIDGE -- Ellen L. (Walker) Anderson, 86, of 17 Douglas Road, Whitinsville section of Northbridge, died Monday, Oct. 22, in Milford-Whitinsville Hospital.
Her husband, Martin C. Anderson, died in 1978. She leaves two sons, Dennis M. Anderson of Lake Worth, Fla., and Robert E. Anderson of Upton, Maine; a daughter, Mary Ann Dumas of Enfield, Conn.; three brothers, Warren Walker of Tennessee, and Charles Walker and Fred Walker, both of Florida; several grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was born in the Bondsville section of Palmer, daughter of Frederick and Irene (Smith) Walker, and lived many years in Whitinsville.
Mrs. Anderson was a homemaker. She was an honorary member of the New England Country Music Club-SKD. She was also a member of the Northbridge Senior Center, the Sutton Senior Center, and the Sutton Golden Age Club. She was a contributing member of the World of Poetry Society, and had poetry published in the World Treasury of Golden Poems and the World of Poetry Press.

WINCHENDON -- Emilio V. Arceci, 89, of 521 Central St., a retired foreman, died Friday, Oct. 26, in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 71 years, Alvida (Tontini) Arceci; a daughter, Nancy J. Best of Acton; two brothers, Leon J. Arceci of Winchendon and Domenic E. Arceci of Jaffrey, N.H.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. A son, Richard E. Arceci of Maineville, Ohio, died Sept. 25. He was born in Fano, Italy, son of Pietro and Marie (Barbadoro) Arceci, and lived most of his life in Winchendon.
Mr. Arceci was a foreman at the former Mason & Parker Co. and Level Manufacturing for a total of 45 years, retiring in 1975.
He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 31, from Snow-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central St., with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce St. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. ASHVILLE, N.C. -- The memorial service for Nancie (Perkins) Army, 85, of 30 Clairemont Ave., formerly of Millbury, Mass. and Winchendon, Mass., was held earlier this month in Grace Episcopal Church.
Mrs. Army died Wednesday, Oct. 3, at a local nursing home.
She leaves her husband of 56 years, Wilfred Army; two sons, David Army of Annapolis, Md., and Ross Army of Malden, Mass.; a daughter, Ginny Soma of Shrewsbury, Mass.; a half brother, Lawrence Vickery in Alabama; a sister, Marjorie Griffin of Jacksonville, Ala.; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. She was born in New Lebanon, N.Y., daughter of Leslie and Gladys (Serven) Perkins, and lived in Milbury and Winchendon before moving to Asheville.
